Looked like 14sec/85mph or so, with first and second. Love that Cop motor and Torqueflite combo. This big highway car probably had a 2.76 for the open highway and fluffy drive characteristics in town. The old 440 dishes out wonderfully smooth torque. That was one fantastic motor.

Those old cars would spin on a dime. Five O stuff. Here we are today with far better technology. Brakes. Tires. Steering and suspension and so much more. Tell why haven't the traffic laws improve. Vehicles today are way safer and capable of higher speeds. But human hasn't evolved enough to drive.

The acceleration is deceptive because its so constant, not because its rapid. Gotta love those torque monster big V8s
Even when choked back they still are impressive in thier own way, 0-80mph (130km/h) in less than 15 seconds was quick for 1975!
That said i will take a modern V8 any day 😂

I had a '73 New Yorker Brougham (2dr) back in the mid '80's, and that thing would surprise people. It was a tank, for sure, but it would just float along at 100+mph all day in comfort. As an Italian, it was the perfect "Mafia car" LOL. We partied heavily in that car. Sadly, just when I was fixing it up and going to build the motor to 500hp or so, it got sideswiped by an 18-wheeler and it destroyed the whole passenger side. It was a cool car, I have fond memories of (banging my girlfriend in) it.🤣

0-60 in 2.5 seconds, 0-140 in less than 10 seconds, 140 mph and still in second gear? That speedo is way off and probably deliberately so!
