I sell cars and somehow landed a van full of detail equipment. I tried it out and ended up giving the stuff away to a mobile detailed for free. He gave me a job for about 2 months on the weekend and the money was great. I had zero experience prior and learned fairly quick. I would do a lot of the work too the owner was sloppy at times. This particular time we were washing a Porsche in an affluent neighborhood. I did the regular put the nozzle on the power washer and as soon as I pressed the trigger it flew straight to the taillight and broke it in pieces. We had no insurance and I was fired on the spot. The owner of the car was really cool about it and forgave me but it showed the morality of the boss. I gave him about 3k of equipment only to be treated horrible after a mistake. Lesson learned always splash the floor first before beginning a car.

I’ve had some close calls. Here’s a tip if you don’t know now. Always spray at the ground first when switching nozzle tips

Love it Bruh! You can never go wrong with a good ol prayer! By the way, they make canopy weights. Lowes has them for sure. They’ll take up less space and be easier on the eyes 👌🏽 God bless you brother, keep grinding! You’ve motivated me to go ahead and start my detailing business. Thanks for sharing!

For tent weights we use Reliance Jumbo Tainers 7 gal. filled with water @ 8.43lbs./gal. × 7gal. = 59lbs. per tied corner. Works well in areas like parking lots, concrete driveways, ect. where driven stakes are not an option. Since we only provide rinseless washes on mobile services we premix ONR wash & wax (3.5oz./7gal. jug) in 4 of 8 total jugs on the truck. Just rotate them in/out of weight/rinseless wash service as you go so the water inside stays fresh.

Great video telling what can happen with a canopy. I bought from Home Depot 1” foam pipe insulation for $3 each that wraps perfectly around the canopy legs. I also bought screw on lids for my 5 gal buckets which I fill up with water to tie down each leg. I’m learning from your mishaps. Thank you

I thought I was going to have to use my insurance for the first time last week. I do pressure washing and was washing a house, I missed an electrical outlet (it was painted over, same color as the house) didn't see it until I sprayed right over it. puller my gun away and hoped it would be straight but it almost immediately started popping and arcing. flames shot out, it was wild. told the customer, killed the power, put my blower on it to dry it out, it blew big flames one last time and was done. luckily just burned up the outlet. $15 at Lowes for outlets, faceplate, some caulk (and a fire extinguisher for the truck lol) and we were good. customer was fine since I fixed it and made it look nice. but this could've burned the house down.

Man I been in business 15 years…Have had at least 15 to 20 incidents Ranging from $100 to $18,000.I wouldn’t claim anything under $8000.If you plan on staying in business for a long time you will pay for it in the long run. It’s not about the prices of the cars it’s about the medical bills if people get hurt when you are transporting your details. We do strictly dealer work dealerships and have to ship 12 cars out of our shop each day..1500 you have to suck it up..Save that insurance once you start getting into the $10,000 range.😬

Next time that you have your tent up, cut some holes off on the top of the fabric.
Wind will go through of the openings on fabric avoiding for tent to lift off ground easy as without the holes

Ive been trading as a mobile detailer in the UK for the last 15 years.
    Never had an insurance claim.
Had a couple of customers try to blame me for scratching their cars...
When Ive looked at the scratch... It was rusted and the paint was bubbling..(not fresh).
Another reason as to why I wont take on taxi/cab drivers cars.
Living in the UK, the last thing I need is a sun canopy. There is always a breeze.. When it rains.. I reschedule.

And trust i understand about the heat but I just find it easier to deal with the heat rather than taking out a tent and putting up a tent and making sure it doesn't get squirrely and taking a risk. I dress and eat for the occasion People's Choice Mobile ✌🏾

They make weighted sand bags that attach to the legs for this reason based on the fact that in certain scenarios you can’t stake the legs down. This would atleast add some precaution incase wind comes out of no where.
