The first Saab Gripen was 4.5. Gripen NG is said to be operating on half the cost level of F35. That's a ratio worth considering for many countries. Gripen lacks the stealth capabilities of F35 but has smaller natural signature in return.
Why do you meed a medical? Not like they going into combat,they may pull 4-5 g tops but only for a second or 2..People probably pull more g's on a rollercoaster than they do in these types of flights...

They didn’t manufacture most components, ejection seat BAE, engine GE, radar Raytheon, so they only manufacture the airframe and integrate the components. Nothing special, any aircraft company can manufacture airframe. So the missile and bombs also from another country.
the RB-15 is swedish, and the METEOR missile is 1/6 swedish (its developed by 6 different countries), the radar is swedish, the engine on the first 4 variants were swedish
