Hi mike! This is helpful thank you! I have one question hope you can help me :) To enter thailand, we need to purchase the insurance. If we only purchase 30 day coverage, are we able to extend the visa? Or a 60 day coverage is necessary?

Incredible video Mike, thank you for being the go to guide on all the red tape to get into Phuket! Quick question, do you have any recommendations for throwaway ticket that may need to be used in late November? Obviously as of now, most of the other countries in the region are not even open to foreigners. But of course that won't stop them from selling me an airline ticket. I'm thinking Cambodia will be open by then. Hopefully other countries as well by late November…
Thank you :) If that will be just a throwaway ticket then consider, Bangkok - Kuala Lumpur / Singapore / Jakarta / Ho Chi Minh / Phnom Penh. Use pages like skyscanner to find the most affordable one. As far as other SEA countries are concerned, Singapore has announced that it will reopen in September. Aside from that, nothing is sure yet, but Cambodia looks quite promising witch high vax rate.

6:28 are official requirements maybe Bangkok has easier process but in Chiang Mai, Hotel owner need to fill TM30 AND visit immigration personally for the verification or have to do it online beforehand. In addition, they need overstay form to be filled no matter overstayed or not. In Chiang Mai, There are 4 inspection counters you have to pass 1. queue for the document check (2-3 hours), 2. queue for TM30 receipt (1-2 hours), 3. queue for the second inspection (30 mins-1 hour) 4. queue for the approval and payment (1-3 hours).

Thank for in information, you would think once a tourist goes through all the effort of getting to Thailand at the moment, they would be offering longer visa to try to keep them there
You are most welcome :) yeah, they offer the Special Tourist Visa (a lot of paperwork) and the visa amnesty program I mention at the end of the video and that's pretty much it. Full video about the visa amnesty coming soon :)
Thank you for the info. Just 1 question. If you can extend the 45 days (free) visa by 30 days even later 60 days (covid visa) there is any point to apply the 60 days Tourist visa ?
You are welcome :) At the moment I would not bother with Tourist Visa and go for the Visa Exemption instead. Much easier and more convenient 👍

Thank you! Is it possible after the exemption + extension period, to buy a single entry tourist visa, which would give me 2 months extra and possibility to have again 1 more extension? Do I need to fly out of the country for that, or is it just not possible untill an amount of time after my exemption stay?
Hi :) after you visa exemption + extension expires you cannot swithc to a tourist visa. You can apply for education visa for example or retirement etc. as long as it's not tourist. Covid extendion is still available as of now.
To leave Australia I have to prove I won’t return to the country for more than 3 months

Does Thailand still offer the STV Visa? I heard this visa could be extended to last for up to 270 days.
Hi Dan, yes you can still get an STV visa but the program will be terminated on Sep 30th 2021 which means after that day you not be able to extend it anymore. Therefore, I do not suggest getting it.

Sure :) coming to Thailand you must have an insurance that covers you in case of health emergency (including hospitalization caused by covid). The amount of coverage must be at least 100.000 USD.
