Nokia's flip phone is awesome. nice to meet you. I'm a Japanese essayist. My name is Mikan Oshidari(忍足みかん). I am writing a book called [I want to stop being a slave to my smartphone]. I switched to a flip phone because of my smartphone addiction. It's for mental health. Smartphone addiction is a serious disease. However, it is not seen as much of a problem worldwide. Now I use a flip phone and it's comfortable and I'm happy. However, I am worried about what will happen in the future when flip phones will no longer be produced. Although you can't buy Nokia flip phones in Japan, I hope that one day flip phones will become popular again in Japan.

@@AbdullaZakiI prefer the 2780 by far, bigger internal memory, functional TH-cam app, hotspot and WiFi, 4g LTE, dedicated kai Os operating system which is a game changer knowing that Bada os, windows Mobile and tizen os don't exist anymore as we're stuck with android and iOS , google browser instead of that useless opera mini browser that serve no purpose and makes the LTE network pretty much useless and super slow and a dedicated app store with apps like UC browser, Gmail, Google Drive and the habitual shenanigans found on smartphones.
For now, I have a Nokia C30 running android 11 with a mighty 6000 mah battery that I use as my main feature phone and that phone is a complete battery beast. I tried to kill it but the battery wouldn't die even after 2 to 3 days of extensive use. The c30 cost the same as a Nokia 2720 but the added ram, storage, massive screen and battery and the good WiFi connectivity, it's unbeatable and never mind the lack of os upgrade, it's the convenience that matters
Unfortunately you're right on one thing, I haven't seen any newly fresh launch by Nokia and no Nokia phones with Android 13 out of the box while Motorola, Infinix, Samsung and Xiaomi are taking matters in hand

Oh such nostalgia. I do appreciate on this version that Nokia uses a USB-C for charging, to bring some modern amenities to feature phones. It's great that there are these types of devices available for anyone who's not that tech savvy. But i sure wish Nokia could do better in terms of availability and going a little more crazy when they renew old phones in this modern era...

To me as a Finn it's so interesting that Nokia still makes phones (I know it's in brand only but I don't think everyone knows that Nokia phones are still completely Finnish, meaning development is as Finnish as in the age of Nokia phones 'proper'. Even the management is from Nokia 'proper'.) Nokia phones are not sold here in Finland so I have no idea of the quality, I hope the quality and price meet.
Nokia headquarters is half a kilometre from my home and they're doing great with networking and mobile phone/data infrastructure.
ETA: I noticed some people are not satisfied with the software. I would send an e-mail and make noice on social media. Finnish companies actually listen to customers.

For now they will launch alongside Nokia branded ones at least until 2026 when their licencing agreement with Nokia officially expires (unknown whether Nokia proper will renew with HMD Global, someone else or just stop licencing it's name completely).

That's a good video! I'm a Japanese writer. The name is ``Mikan Oshidari'(忍足みかん🍊)'. I'm writing a book called ``I Want to Quit Being a Smartphone Slave.'' I switched to a flip phone because of my smartphone addiction. It's all about mental health. I no longer get tired of smartphone screens, notification sounds, and unnecessary connections. It's comfortable. Only the really necessary communications will come to your flip phone. There is no inconvenience. I think flip phones should be reevaluated more globally. I hear that young people in America are paying the most attention to flip phones. Thank you for the wonderful video.

I waa forced to buy my first ever non Nokia phone in February 2023 after my trusted old Nokia 7.2 took a dunk and died. I was not looking to buy a new phone cuz 5G is still some time away here in India. But Nokia India broke my heart by pricing the X30 at 48,999, which was bizarre to say the least. Even the Nokia G60 was overpriced at Rs 29,999.
With a heavy heart, I picked up my first ever Motorola, the Moto Edge 30 for 22,500. I am happy with the phone but I miss the Nokia logo.

while keeping the soul intact I mean "smartphones" born with keypad with slide /clamshell forms
    and they were amazing
so why know keep relying on kaios but with more muscle? say
    1.5 GB processor at least
1 or 2 ram depending of the model keep it
feature rich and at least the screen size 3.2/3.5
and a res of at least 640x480
Im pretty sure that they are able to do that and more without breaking end user budget neither their own

Dear, any chance you will review the Nokia G42 any time soon?
I’ve held the Black version and was very surprised by how it looks and feels, especially for its price.
Thanks for keeping the Nokia brand alive!

Welcome back! :) I almost sent you an IM on Twitter, or X, whatever Elon is calling it nowadays. :D
I won't buy either. The 2660 is not kicking it, I have a 5710, I would rather use that. The 2780, I could get from the US, but the 8000 4G is a better option now, when it comes to KaiOS. Thank you for reviewing this, helped me a lot.
I wonder what do you think about the new Nokia 150/130 iterations.

Thanks! I'm trying to get my hands on the 150/130, they seem interesting.

Does the phone work in a European country such as France, with a european SIM card ? I didn't understand that. Is it US exclusive for sale or for use ? Thanks.

Hi awesome Abdullah Mr Nokia! Ill bet a handful of dollars! That if Nokia or Hmd would have re issued old nokia phones with the same old designs but with newer tech inside it would have been a mega comeback for nokia phones!

I wonder how stable the screen is. In the past I always had Samsung C260 and C270 phones and those were pretty much indestructible. Once I even lost in on a road and a car ran over it with its wheel, but it was still working. However recently I bought a flip phone from an unknown brand and the screen of that phone did not even the pressure applied on it when I have it in my back pocket and sit on it. That's why I am now looking for a flip phone from a well known brand hoping that it will be stable.
It is important for me that I can disable data completely, because I do not have a data plan and every megabyte without a data plan would be very expensive. Is there any easy way to turn off all data in the settings?

Sadly the 2780 cannot be used in India. It certainly has better specifications than 2660.

Hi Abdulla. I recently purchased Nokia 2780, but had issues with receiving texts. Verizon states they do not support phone. Can you recommend another flip that has similar features? Thx
