I use a coreless savox 1273 360 oz in, and .08 transit time in my 1/8 Ebuggy and it works well if savox is3d complete metel case it would be better. Great comparisons

I've also noticed some of the differences between a couple of the cheaper servos, and better quality ones, but I mainly just putz around, and while I can appreciate the bump from using quality upgrades, my skills don't justify them (although when I can, I just like to experience things for myself sometimes).

I think you got it wrong. Reef makes some pretty awesome servos, so does AGFRC, but they cost twice as much. Savox is more mid tier.

When Tamiya HQ was located here in SoCal, that was our local track. Free.....but only Tamiya😎

I have the 35kg in my crawler its quick enough for me and super powerful its neat when you get down in a creek and when you steer the rocks get moved around. it is easy to strip out the horn though at that power get a wheel pinched real good and turn the wheel is all it takes

I have the savox high voltage brushless in my mudboss dirt modified and its awesome!! I had to put a "glitch buster"capacitor in my receiver tho because it takes too much power..
Went to my LHS and asked for a glitch buster and the salesperson was mystified. The owner knew what I was trying to purchase, but instead tried to sell me a BEC. I run glitch busters in all of my rigs as a precaution. No brown outs ever. 👍👍cheers

I'm new to rc cars, I have a kyosho tki3, which servo would you recommend? Another question are all servos the same for all rc cars?
I have all those servos, and even both of the Monster Performance flagship Savoxs, the blue DS3225MG is a beast, you can't kill them, I've only ever broken the final drive, but because they don't have the max throw stop pins like a Savox. This was also an advantage though as I was able to flip it 180° and it still lives. The best servo I have though for quality & responsiveness for racing is my futaba s9352hv. When you take it apart (even compared to the flagship Savox) you can see the difference if machining quality, and the board.
I’m now running the DS3225mg blue in my ET410 Truggy. Seems great for that fast and strong. I don’t need the same twitchyness as a buggy. It’s a great value for a very fast digital coreless servo.
Looks like you have two receivers working at the same time with one transmitter. How do you do that? I’m new to this Tx Rx thingy. Any help or guidance or resources to achieve that would be appreciated. Thanks!
you should check the deadband on the servos. A lot of the cheaper servos are reasonably quick but have horrible deadbands so the car never tracks straight. They might claim 1 or 2us, but in reality most of them are more like 10 or 15us. The lack of 'microshakes' has a lot to do with excessive deadband. Savox servos will actually do

Good vid, and it just so happens I bought the 35kg for a B6.2 for like $32, I just need it to tide me over until I have 100+ to blow on a servo. This is my first 1/10 car but not my first RC, competition crap is stupid expensive.
I saw a super good servo test in slow mode. Do a skyview over the car and TX in slow motion it shows the real time delay.
I've always been partial to Savox. Although I don't race, the Savox 1210 has been my go to for years. I've never had an issue. Anyway, cool to learn about race servos and see the differences.
I always see Savox servos as cheap entry-level racing servo's mainly from the experience I had in the early 2000s with them failing.
There are far too many models to paint them all with the same brush. They range from cheap build to top spec in materials and technology which is what this video is about, for all Servo manufacturers.
What about s bus servos from Futaba or Sanwa they are like $200 and you can make changes on the fly with a 7PX or M17 , I wanna get into the telemetry and sensor stuff but it's super pricey

Hello. I have a question about servos. Recently I have made a rover with a 5DOF robot arm. I used standard brushed servos (2x 80kg and 2x 30kg and 1x 13kg). 4 of them work as intended. However, the 30kg one in the claw (DS3230 Pro, same brand as the 20kg cored in your video) keeps overheating. I have already replaced servos in the claw several times, because they burned due to overheating. During operation, the claw servo becomes really hot. Even when not holding anything in the claw, after 10min it becomes hot. I am thinking about replacing it with something better that will enable my rover to hold objects for several minutes, and the servos won't die. But what is better?
1. Brushed servo with full aluminium case. Maybe will dissipate heat better. Cost approx. 22$
2. Brushless servo with partially aluminium case. Brushless motor, theoretically, will dissipate heat better due to its windings fixed to its case. Cost approx 26$.
3. Very weak brushed servo (just enough to operate the claw). Lower power->lower heat emission->longer time before overheat. Cost under 10$.
4. If all of the above are bad variants, I will make a custom worm gear servo (that won't consume power when static). But then I'll have to redesign and re-print the claw. Cost under 10$.
Which of these, do you think, will solve my problem?
Coreless servos are not considered, as they are even less resistant to overheat than cored or brushless.
so if i like bashing all i need is power and speed and not laser precision dsservo for me lol thank you im getting the DS3218 Pro 20KG and a glitchbuster for my traxxas rustler 4x4 vxl my stock servo is going out and its always on the weaker side for grass/offroad

Are "brushless" also "coreless" though? Looking at servos on shop lists... they always list them as just one or the other. If coreless allows it to change direction faster (lower rotational mass) then it would also be beneficial in the higher end brushless models too wouldn't it. But they don't mention it. So are the brushless ones also coreless??

the 25kg coreless looks perfect for my bashing needs. its a shame i have a couple of the red DS 20KG (non pro) models that have been taking a beating for quite some time and still working well....
i tried that DS3218 Pro 20KG and i'm disappointed in it. i bought 2 of them thinking the first one was defective but they both operate the same. very glitchy and not smooth. But the major problem with the "pro" model is they don't center correctly. tried it on a arrma limitless and no amount of adjustments could keep it in a straight line.
i bought the DS3225SG 25KG Coreless for the limitless and it's quite good. I would recommend that for sure.
I have the 2271 in my Ebuggy. Its insane at 7.4v. Well worth the money
Oh nice!. I'm very impressed with it at 6V but have not tried it on track yet. I can only imagine 7.4V, it must be approaching that limit where we need to turn it down because it's too fast/sensitive.
@@netcruzer Can never get fast enough! lol all it does is bind the wheels movements more directly to the motions you make on your radio. Giving you more overall control.
Have you tried any of the Xpert servos? We have a few Xpert Si-4431 servos and they have worked out great for our 1/10 uses. I am now researching what to get for my son's new 1/8 E-buggy...likely either an Xpert or MKS HBL550...

I got some cheap jx coreless servos and they are nowhere near as fast as my bluebird bls2905.
I’ve always went with the 1258TG but when I built my 22 5.0 Elite, I went with an MKS X5 HBL550LX Low Profile Brushless and its an all aluminium case, no plastic! $99.00. Specs are @6.0V 180 oz-in @7.4V 222 oz-in. Absolutely love this servo and its been my go-to every since. Im currently building a TLR 22T 4.0 and will also be using this same servo. Running @7.4V 222 oz-in is enough for the stadium truck.
Low profile and brushless is an interesting combo! I'll look into it. One thing I've heard is low profile servos sacrifice gear size/strength to shrink the size down, so just keep that in mind if you start breaking servo gears when used on a stadium truck.
@@netcruzer definitly something i’m curious to see how that plays out myself. It seems like a strong enough servo for stadium, but those bigger wheels could strain it and break. If that’s the case, I’m more than happy to slap a 1258TG in! I’ll be sure to update if it fails anytime soon.

I'm running a Savöx 1252 in my touring car and it' so worth it, just like good tyres and suspension. Tyres > Servo > Suspension, imo (if you are upgrading part by part)
Hey John I always use the DS servos and think they are perfect for bashing but my question is should I go with the 35kg or 25kg servo for my cen reeper? I have a 25kg but now that you just showed me the 35kg I'm wondering if that would be a big difference. Thanks! Also john on that 35kg servo it has 2 options 180° or 270° could you explain what that means or what one I would need?? Thanks john
The 270 is more for robot/air use as far as I know. A 180 is better for RC surface vehicles. Both those servos will work but the 3225 will be significantly faster. I’d the reeper has very big 3.8+ wheels and tires consider the 3235. It’ll turn the wheels on command under load but may be a bit slower than you expect.

A coreless 3225 at 6v is 0.08 and a 3235 at 6v is 0.12s for a 60 degree transit. That might not sound like much but it’s noticeably slower. If you want high speed for a more connected feel get 3225 if you want high torque for moving thru rocks get 3235. 3235 is slower than any of the speeds I Demo’d in this video which were between 0.09 and 0.07.

what will you be putting in the sct410.3? im running the 1258tg in my 410.3 currently
1258 is way too soft for a SCT. I ran the 2271 in my 410.3 and it was perfect.
I have a 1256TG in my SCT410.3 Not as fast, but with short course I didn't find that platform needed super fast steering.
@@milesrc2343 you were right. 1258 failed to turn right 2nd time out with the truck luckily the Shop had a 2271 in stock. took a full second off my lap time and improved consistently. the 1258 simply wasnt strong enough.
Those Savox servos are certainly nice! But at the price of one, I can replace all 3 in my Revo basher and no one will be able to tell until you pull the body off. That sure is a great deal!

Yes people can tell. Under load it won’t perform torque or speed wise.
@@dustang5.O That difference will hardly matter in a backyard basher. The DS32xx is leaps stronger than the stock servo and is a great improvement already. Not everyone will benefit from a marginal improvement the significantly more expensive servo offers.

@@VasyaIvanovichPupkin I hardly think it’s marginal. I’d agree with you if we were only talking about Banggood specials, but we’re talking about $500-$1000+ RCs. Regardless where they are running it’s a disservice to the highest quality RCs to install a $25 servo. And I can say that even in the backyard bashing it’s easy to tell the difference in steering and control, particularly when comparing high torque quality servos. The speed is noticeable but the torque difference is in your face. If running aftermarket heavier tires or belted tires I wouldn’t bother even driving the RC until it had a quality servo.
No matter the tire, my RCs will turn them from endpoint to endpoint standing still. These cheap servos can’t do that on their best day.
@@dustang5.O I'm running Trencher X on my Revo 3.3 with a DS3235 single servo. That one turns the wheels lock to lock in high turn angle configuration, on carpet. That is something stock dual servos were not able to do. Needless to say, I experience no issues while in motion either.
If I were racing, I would buy a more expensive servo without a doubt, because every little bit matters. However, in my use case, I cannot justify that price premium, even if the cheap servo reliability is lower (it is actually better that Traxxas servos).
Bottom line is that they punch way above their price tag and work well unless you are squeezing every last bit of juice out of your RC.
@@VasyaIvanovichPupkin I guess we just have different definitions of working “well”. I can agree concerning the Traxxas “servos” but it’s in quotations because Traxxas OEM stock “servos” aren’t servos as far as I’m concerned, they are nothing more than chunks of useless plastic placeholders. They are basically the junk mail of steering mechanisms and are not fit to be installed on even the first run on a new RTR RC.
The Amazon servos here are what I would call OE or stock quality. They are acceptable for initial use until being replaced with a proper servo and should be kept as a backup from then on. There’s low, medium, and high quality and performance servos and that designation applies to racing and bashing all the same, bashing in particular should have stout reliable components for backyard sending because that’s what these RCs are made for. If someone just putts around they really have no business offering up their opinion, they haven’t even removed their training wheels and might as well push the RC around and steer by hand.
Savox servos are medium tier quality although many think they are high quality simply because they don’t know better and their local hobby shop sells Savox as grade A servos. The hobby shop doesn’t carry anything better because “there is no better”, when in reality Savox falls short in many ways compared to top tier.
Then Promodeler, REEFs, AGFRC brushless, Spektrum S6280/S6290, and Holmes Hobby are all high quality top tier all aluminum cased steel/titanium geared brushless heat sink finned 8.4V capable grade A servos made for the top tier RCs.
Regular gasoline doesn’t belong in a Ferrari or even a Corvette. Putting a cheap low torque low speed servo in Horizon Hobby product is basically filling up the super car with 87 octane dirty fuel.

Hi do anyone know why my receiver got cut off when a steer to fast changing left to right in an instant for like 3-4 times the receiver cut off, 6v tqi Traxxas
If your servo is very power hungry it might be pulling too many amps and browning out the receiver. You can add a capacitor (glitch buster) to help with that if staying on stock electronics.
Idk if your dsservo 25kg coreless is the same as mine because mine has the same speed as your but when standing on the ground in my kraton 4s with a meh servo saver but when not touching the ground its really quick its not a rce servo but more of a servo to remplace the cheap factory ones
Oh the DS3225 is way better than the stock Arrma servos. Most of those are analog and cored motor. The DS3225 is better in every way. Any delay or mushyness is due to STX2 radio lag or the soft servo saver on Arrma 4S vehicles.
@@netcruzer Yep I put the 35kg one in my outcast 4s because I liked the 25kg so much in my monster slash I picked up to stay on a budget. The servo saver is so weak im looking for replacements now for the outcast. I just took the saver off for now because a new servo is cheap enough till I find a better saver. I also run savox 1258tg in my race trucks. They are super fast and strong with the titanium gears. But my bashers get the cheap stuff so my wife stays happy as well. I agree the dsservo's are way better than the stock RTR stuff they put in these things. And for the price it really is a no brainer.

I just bought the AGFrc 36KG IP67 for my E-Revo 2.0 and from what I read it's the same speed as savox, but less power consuming and they come with a full aluminum case, water proof, and $90. Also Programmable

I’m sure you compared them more than just what is seen in the video but testing one servo with wheels off and the other with wheels on will definitely skew results towards the servo that had the wheels off.
Why I have a problem with this vid: because you don't touch the Amper problem. How much power do the servos consume. Maybe you esc cannot provide the needed Amper. Some Servos tend to ask for more than the esc can deliver and that can cause many wierd behaviors
I'm buying a power hobbies brushless servo. And it's got 440ozin and it's.15 seconds for 100 dollars. I'm a basher and I don't need anything to fast but I need torque I'm driving a ARRMA kraton v2 4s 4x4 blx.

No you need a much larger Servo.

Nice video , but you will need to use the speed option in your MT4 to slow down your speed . Faster servo does not mean better lap times some times it depend on your level of driving. I know I was way better with a slower servo on both my 2wd and 4wd . Savox are nice but hard on your BEC . keep up the good work. After this you should try Sanwa, Ko propo , futaba , MKS and protek servos they all have pro's and con's. (price is a big Con but you get what you pay for) good luck with your new servo's and sell those DS servo's ouch I would not even install these in my nephew's slash 4wd.
Yes I have not tried it on track yet. The brushless I might need to slow it down f it feels too twitchy but I hope not. The DS servos are definitely better than any OEM analog servo IMO, not junk and an affordable upgrade for most non-racers.
What in particular is wrong with the DS servos in your opinion? They seem to be working fine if not better for their segment. Yet, judging by your comment, they must be causing the wheels to fall off just buy being in the same room with the truck. )))))

The fastest isn’t the only thing yo be concerned with. You need to balance transit speed, torque, and responsiveness for each class of RC car. However, a brushless HV powered (8.4v+) should be one of the fastest. The power comes from your ESC BEC voltage, just because a servo has the specs doesn’t mean you’ll get it until feeding it that power.

I have always used the Savöx 1257 (0.07) in my race rc's as it is faster and the same price as 1258. (0.08) :) :)
the 1st thing i learned back in the 80s when i started racing was to never buy a cheap servo, you get what you pay for ....

Why was one controller making both servos move at the same time?
I was hoping to “go cheap” as the specs seemed similar. Feel and responsiveness just wasn’t there. The Radio is bound to multiple RX, if all are on same time one radio works then all simultaneously.
More expensive servos equals more performance. Shocking! Well… not that shocking…

Hate to put a brand down but after using agf brushless servos you realise how crap savox are.they are noisy, glitchy and power hungry and mostly plastic. Trouble is everyone has realised this and now agf are rebadged and sold for 3x the. Price I was paying 3 or 4 years ago
Just so you know none of the DS servos accomplish the ounce inch ratings they claim as well as the speed ratings. RC review did AA comprehensive test of 15 servoz or more and the DS service always fall short of their claims. As you said you get what you pay for and in many applications I feel you are over exaggerating the quality of these service especially in crawlers where the torque is your biggest desire.

I just don’t understand putting these cheap crappy servos in expensive RC cars. I only use Promodeler, AGFRC, Hi-Tec, and Spektrum servos. I have a Savox Monster but wouldn’t buy another because it isn’t waterproof. I’d never buy these garbage Amazon servos.
