Loved the album back in the day. It was probably the biggest wedding song of the 1990's.

One of my favorite songs of all time! One of the last great lovesongs in the era of love songs(probably 50’s to the 90’s) , forever changed after the 90’s, so sad.. 😐😑🙄

A very heartwarming reaction ❤‍🔥! Jamie Jones sings lead on the first part and Tim "Delious" Kennedy sings lead on the second part of the song. I Swear was released as the second single from All-4-One's 1994 debut album: All-4-One. It was written by Gary Baker and Frank J Myers. It was produced by David Foster. It reached #1 on the Hot 100, #3 on the Adult Contemporary chart and #13 on the R&B chart. It also peaked at #1 in Canada, Sweden, Germany, Austria, Demark, Switzerland, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Netherlands and Lithuania. The single was certified Platinum. It was the biggest-selling single of 1994. The song also won the 1995 Grammy Award for "Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals". In 2013, Billboard ranked the song #91 on their all-time Hot 100 music chart list. The music video was directed by Marcus Nispel.
The song was originally recorded by the Country music artist John Michael Montgomery in 1993. All-4-One's cover version of the original song includes a slight lyric change from the original lyrics from the song's second verse: "And when there's silver in your hair", was replaced by the lyrics: "And when just the two of us are there". Group member Jamie Jones was most hesitant about releasing the song due to the music genre crossover. Since its release All-4-One's song version has become a wedding song staple for many couples tying the knot.
All-4-One's song: "I Swear", isn't the only #1 Country music chart hit to reach the top of the Hot 100 music chart with a cover version by a different artist. In 1992, the song: "I Will Always Love You", pulled it off when Whitney Houston's cover version of Dolly Parton's 1974 #1 Country music chart song hit the top Hot 100 spot. Like All-4-One's single: "I Swear", Whitney Houston's song was produced by David Foster.
All-4-One and John Michael Montgomery recorded an updated duet version of the song: "I Swear", for the deluxe edition of All-4-One's 2015 album: Twenty+. A music video for this duet version was released on May 9, 2016.
In 2021, All-4-One recorded a remix of their song: "I Swear", for a music video promoting Xbox All-Access, titled: "It's All There".
The song has also been used in Gain laundry detergent TV ads in the US since 2021.
The song has been featured in some films including 📽: Sisters (2015), Echo To Echo (2014), Despicable Me 2 (2013), The Social Network (2010), The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard (2009), Just Friends (2005) and more.
The song has been featured in some TV shows including 📺: Ted ("He's Gotta Have It" - 2024), Human Resources ("The Jizz Mitzvah" - 2023), American Horror Story ("Winter Of Our Discontent" - 2017), The Vampire Diaries ("Welcome To Paradise" 2014), South Park ("Cartman Finds Love" - 2012) and more.
    Critical Reception 🗣:
Billboard editor, Larry Flick, wrote, "Follow-up to the Gold-selling "So Much In Love" once again spotlights this male quartet's seamless harmonies. Producer David Foster supplies soft and pillowy synths, a caressing sax solo, and an overall splash of drama, which complements the unabashed romance of this hit-bound ballad. As teens enter prom season, expect this song to be the peak tune of the evening. Ahhh, young love ...".
M.R. Martinez from Cash Box complimented it as a single "complete with shimmering vocals, swooning pop arrangements, and throttled (yet soulful) vocals".
Dave Sholin from the Gavin Report complimented the producer that "polishes it up just right for pop audiences who, like their country counterparts, will soak in the lyrics". He added: "Those contemplating matrimony will no doubt have this played while they're walking down the aisle, and those who've already tied the knot might want to renew their vows just so they can make "I Swear" part of the ceremony".
In his weekly UK chart commentary, James Masterton wrote: "Labelled by many as this year's "End Of The Road" you can see what all the hype is about. Four American teenagers singing in barber's shop harmonies makes for a gorgeous record. Whether it emulates its American success remains to be seen but Top 10 success is almost assured".
Pan-European magazine Music & Media commented: "Since Whitney covered Dolly, Nashville is hip in the R&B milieu. Now the vocal harmony quartet halfway between Shai and Boyz II Men polishes John Michael Montgomery country number 1 hit".
    Lyrics 🗒:
I swear by the moon and the stars in the skies
And I swear like the shadow that's by your side
I see the questions in your eyes
I know what's weighing on your mind
You can be sure I know my part
'Cause I'll stand beside you through the years
And you'll only cry those happy tears
And though I'll make mistakes, I'll never break your heart
And I swear by the moon and the stars in the skies
    I'll be there
And I swear like the shadow that's by your side
    I'll be there
For better or worse, 'til death do us part
I'll love you with every beat of my heart
    And I swear
    Ooh
I'll give you everything I can
I'll build your dreams with these two hands
We'll hang some memories on the walls
    And when (and when)
Just the two of us are there
You won't have to ask if I still care
'Cause as the time turns the page, my love won't age at all
    And I swear (I swear)
By the moon and the stars in the skies
I'll be there (I'll be there)
And I swear (and I swear)
Like the shadow that's by your side
I'll be there (I'll be there)
For better or worse 'til death do us part
I'll love you with every beat of my heart (beat of my heart)
    And I swear (oh yeah)
    I swear (and I swear)
By the moon and the stars in the skies
I'll be there (I'll be there)
(And I swear) I swear like the shadow that's by your side
I'll be there (I'll be there)
For better or worse (better or worse)
'Til death do us part (oh no)
(I'll love you with) every single beat of my heart
    (I swear) I swear
    Whoa-oh, I swear
    All-4-One Info 📰:
All-4-One is a male vocal quartet composed of Jamie Jones, Tim "Delious" Kennedy, Alfred Nevarez and Tony Borowiak, who are all from the Antelope Valley and Mojave, California areas. To date, they have released a total of seven studio albums (one 4x-Platinum, one Platinum), two live albums, 2 Christmas albums, one greatest hits compilation album and sold over twenty million albums worldwide. They group has won a bevy of awards including a Grammy Award, an American Music Award, a Blockbuster Award, countless international awards, and completed multiple major world tours.
The group has appeared and performed their music on some television shows, as well as at some music events including: Showtime At The Apollo, Top Of The Pops, The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, MTV Summer Uncensored, Pebble Mill At One, Billboard Music Awards, American Music Awards, Earth Day At Walt Disney World, Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, Celebrate the Dream: 50 Years Of Ebony Magazine, Kids Song, The Bachelorette, City Guys, Today, Let's Make A Deal, Home &Family, The Talk and more.
None of the members of All-4-One had any formal vocal training before they got together; however, their respective church choirs had a major influence on their ability and their techniques. The quartet formed with the core of Alfred Nevarez and Tony Borowiak, who became friends in high school in Antelope, California. The pair had landed jobs singing jingles for a local radio station and met up with Jamie Jones in the recording studio. The newfound trio set out to find another singer and discovered Tim "Delious" Kennedy singing at a karaoke contest. Soon the four young men formed the quartet AII-4-One.
In 1993 AII-4-One auditioned for Los Angeles-based record label Blitzz Records. In just 15 minutes they were able to create an impromptu arrangement of the 1963 hit song: “So Much In Love”, by The Tymes. At the end of their performance, they had a record contract. By the time they finished recording their debut album, Blitzz Records had signed a distribution deal with Atlantic Records thus AII-4-One had an instant major record label distribution deal.
In January of 1994 the group released their first single: “So Much In Love”. The single went Gold and reached #5 on the Hot 100 and #10 on the R&B chart. When Tony Borowiak heard his group on the radio for the first time, he was attending a Ford auto mechanic school. Within a few months Blitzz/Atlantic released All-4-One’s self-titled debut album along with their second single: “I Swear”. Soon the group’s popularity skyrocketed. The single was a remake of John Michael Montgomery’s 1993 Country hit, it reached #1 on the Hot 100 and stayed therefor 11 straight weeks. It also reached #1 on the Adult Contemporary chart and #13 on the R&B chart. By the end of the year, the single had gone Platinum and became 1994’s biggest-selling single, as well as the third most successful single of the Rock era. In 2013, Billboard ranked the song #91 on their all-time Hot 100 music chart list.
With their soaring success, the quartet embarked on an extensive national and international tour, which included stops in France, Malaysia, New Zealand, Japan and Korea. In 1995 AII-4-One received the American Music Award for favorite new Soul/R&B artist and won the Grammy Award for "Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals" for their song: “I Swear”. Riding on the wave of public acclaim, the quartet went right back into the studio and released their sophomore album: And The Music Speaks, in the Spring of 1995. Coincidentally, they again used John Michael Montgomery material for their first single from the album: “I Can Love You Like That” (#5 Pop, #40 R&B). The group undertook another international tour in support of the album.

At the end of 1995 AII-4-One released a holiday album: An AII-4-One Christmas. The album includes ballad versions of “Silent Night” and “The Christmas Song,” along with a reggae version of “Mary’s Boy Child” and a hip-hop medley of “Rudolf, the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Frosty the Snowman.”
In 1996, they contributed the song: “Tapestry”, for the Carole King tribute album: Tapestry Revisite - A Tribute To Carole King. Also, the group contributed the songs: "I Can Love You Like That" (1995), and "Someday", for the 1996 Disney film: The Hunchback Of Notre Dame, movie soundtrack.
A rift between their record label Blitzz Records, and their major label, Atlantic Records, led to the group leaving Atlantic Records, as well as Blitzz Records after the release of their 1999 album: On And On. The shift in record labels left the group in limbo for a few years as they contemplated their next move. In 2001, they released the album: A41, on AMC Records and it produced the single: "Beautiful As U", which peaked at #13 on the Adult Contemporary chart.
The group's 2004 album: Split Personality, was given an Asia-only release, and subsequently gave them Asian hit singles with the songs: "Someone Who Lives In Your Heart" and "I Just Wanna Be Your Everything". For much of the 2000s, All-4-One spent their time touring Asia, in cities such as Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Seoul, Bangkok, Shanghai and Sydney.
In 2004, Jamie Jones released his debut solo album: Illuminate, on Genesis Records.
In 2009, All-4-One released their album: No Regrets, on the Peak Records/Concord Music Group label. The album was largely created in-house, with the group doing the writing for the album, and Jamie Jones' production company: The Heavyweights, doing a lot of the production work. The CD produced the Urban Adult Contemporary hit: "My Child", co-written by Delious Kennedy and Jamie Jones.
In 2011, Tim "Delious" Kennedy co-founded the esteemed: Catalina Film Festival, known as the West Coast's version of the Cannes Film Festival. The Catalina Film Festival is a destination festival located just off the coast of Los Angeles on Santa Catalina Island, California.
In 2012, Tim "Delious" Kennedy released a single he co-wrote titled: "My Rose", which peaked at #44 on the Dance Club chart.
In June 2015, Billboard premiered the first single: "Baby Love", from All-4-One's 20th anniversary album, Twenty+.
In February 2016, All-4-One joined the inaugural "I LoveThe 90's" Tour with their music industry peers Salt-N-Pepa featuring Spinderella, Vanilla Ice, Coolio, Tone Loc, Color Me Badd, Rob Base, Kid N Play and Young MC.
In 2016, Tim "Delious" Kennedy launched his talk show: Flashback Tonight, which interviews celebrities from the '80s, '90s and early 2000s. Guests have included Richard Marx, Rick Springfield, Taylor Dayne, Karyn White, Marla Gibbs, and Coolio.
In 2020, the group appeared at the American Humane Hero Dog Awards - 10th Anniversary Celebration.
In 2022, the group was featured in the TV One episode: "Unsung Presents: The Decades".
All-4-One still performs their music live on stage in 2024.

Boyz II Men continue to receive in concert requests to sing the song by many of their fans who don't remember 🤔 that it's an All-4-One song.

I Swear and I Can Love You Like That are originally country songs. 1 or 2 of these guys are related to that country singer.
