I was 7th grade when this came out. it's weird hearing this song makes me think of the bus rides to school, the bus driver would always have the radio on and I remember this song always coming on, it's weird how music and certain songs can take you back to a time or moment in your life.

"One Sweet Day" was a song that Carey wrote with the R&B group Boyz II Men. After Carey's friend and past collaborator David Cole (of C&C Music Factory) died, she began writing and developing a song that would pay homage to him and all the friends and family her fans had lost along life's journey.
Nathan “Nate” Woods of Boyz 2 Men wrote this song for his road manager who passed away that year

Mariah just stood out for me personally. Not only because of her powerful vocal range and her impeccable whistle register ability. But for being one of greatest songwriters. I mean that’s one of the reasons for why she was acknowledged by the World Music Awards, as the biggest-selling recording artist of the Millennium (1990-1999). And Whitney was just incredible, her and Mariah were one of the greatest female duos of all time. “When You Believe” still leaves me speechless every time. Mariah was “The Songbird supreme” and Whitney was “The voice”. No one can take those titles from them👏

Peak 90s masterpiece-a pull-the-car-over-and-cry song. The contrast with B2M really highlights how beautiful and crystalline her voice is, and the harmonies are perfect.
It's hard to do a song that repeats the chorus over and over and have it not sound overdone or too repetitive. Everything in this song is essential. Nothing wasted. Masterpiece. Still gets me.

Mom raised me alone for the first 10 years or so, and most of my childhood (born in 94) was Celine Dion, Eurythmics, Sinead O'Connor, Yanni, and Bon Jovi. Lol weird mixture I know. Even though I only lived 6 years in the 90s, it was a good time for me also. Playing Crash Bandicoot with my mom, riding around listening to music with her, and watching Titanic and Legends of the Fall and The Man in the Iron Mask. Man I miss hanging out with my mom.
