  • Are you worried about your kidney health? Or would you like to try prevent kidney disease?
Kidney disease is more common than you might think, affecting over 37 million Americans, most unaware they even have it. But here's the kicker: if both kidneys fail, you will need kidney replacement therapy to survive. It's serious, but here's the good news: alongside medications and lifestyle tweaks, your food choices can play a crucial role in kidney health.

Kidneys are the unsung heroes of our body, filtering waste and keeping everything flowing smoothly. But when they start to falter, it's time to bring in the big guns - and I'm not talking medication. I mean nature's powerful foods!
Today, I'm revealing 9 surprising foods that can actually help repair your kidneys. Yes, you read that right - certain foods have the power to improve kidney function and overall health. Let's dive in:
    1. Red Bell Pepper
    2. Cranberries
    3. Cabbage
    4. Garlic and Onions
    5. Apples
    6. Fatty Fish
    7. Citrus Fruits and Berries
    8. Egg Whites
    9. Chia Seeds and Flax Seeds
These aren't just tasty options; they're kidney superheroes. Diabetes and high blood pressure are top culprits for kidney issues, but incorporating these foods can make a real difference.

Dr Frita I had a kidney ultrasound and was told that my right kidney had an obstruction. I feel fine though. Do some people have an obstruction of one kidney and can be perfectly fine?
Also, does this mean that the obstructed kidney isn’t functioning or only partially functioning? My doctor didn’t explain this to me at all and I wanted some clarity on it …

Bell peppers, garlic, onion, vegetable and tuna have done wonders for me along with consuming a lot of water (with lemon juice) and three cups of coffee per day. I stopped eating breakfast, except for drinking a 24ounce glass of water with lemon juice in it and a cup of coffee. My first meal is lunch and everyday I ate the same thing - an omelet with lots of onions, bell peppers and garlic and canned tuna. Also, I drastically reduced sodium intake as well as drastically reducing my use of ketchup. After 3 months of doing that, my doctor ordered a 24-hour urine collection as well as blood works. The results are:
    ** eGFR went from 56 to 70
** creatinine back within the normal range
** No more protein in the urine
    ** Normal calcium levels
My Nephrologist called to give me the results and said, whatever I am doing I am to continue doing it.

I was injured at the onset of covid. The injury both depressed and debilitated me. In addition to the injury my body didn't feel "correct". My once borderline high bp had increased exponentially. I requested but was denied a referral and testing. I read and/or watched any/everything I could find, including your videos. Simultaneously, I campaigned at the highest administration level. I got the doctor, referrals and testing I sought. My GFR was 70 and I had protenouria. After research, review and discussion of my labs (which were otherwise textbook) with the head of the department, I refused the recommended medications. Instead, I returned to the healthy lifestyle I had pre-injury incorporating a kidney healthy diet and water aerobics in place of the 1-3 miles walked daily pre-injury I asked the doctor to repeat all labs in 90 days. My GFR is now 80, proteinuria gone and my labs remain textbook. My bad cholesterol is down. My good up. I've lost 35 of the pounds I gained. Additionally, my bp medication has been reduced from 5mg to 2.5. Thank you so much for your videos. I've shared. For those facing what I did, please : (1) do your research, (2) ask questions and challenge answers, (3) review your labs, (4) make the lifestyle choices and (5) KEEP WATCHING DR. FRITA. For the 1st time since my injury I feel like I'm back in the driver's seat.

Thank you for your videos. My kidneys have been monitored for years due to my high bp but after contracting covid 2 years ago, it severely damaged my kidneys putting me in renal failure and knocking my gfr down to 5%. Since, ive gone plantbased and brought my gfr up to 18-22 but after having a biopsy i was told covid casued sever scaring to my kidneys beyond repair. My hopes are to maintain my kidney functions as long as possible and your videos have been very helpful and inspiring...

I’m a Christian and I think many other Christians make a great error wearing, hanging and worshipping a graven image. The Roman Catholic religion is fully entrenched in idolatry. We have been warned by God, yet we disobey his words. EXODUS 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:”

My doctor told me that I have stage 3 kidney disease. He said for me to break the Lisinopril in half that he gave me saying that I have high blood pressure. He's saying also that the Lisinopril he prescribed for me may have been too strong 😮. 20-25. I said I've always told you I didn't believe I had high blood pressure and now this has happened to me since he assured and assumed that I did have it. Now I'm really pissed 😡 and yes afraid. But I'm not going down or out like this without a fight. I THANK YOU so much for the video. What else do you recommend besides what you've already shown me.

Great video and thanks for the list. I'm a kidney cancer survivor and have had a partial nephrectomy so I'm a great believer of every food on your list. The only thing I would raise caution with is red bell peppers. These peppers eaten raw contain lectins which can damage gut bacteria. However, if cooked first, no problem.

Hello Dr. Frita. Most mornings I have a bowl on Chia Buckwheat groats, with cinnamon , and a whole cup of bluberries on top. To make, boil ⅓ cup raw buckwheat groats for 8 minutes. Rinse in with cool water in a colander, return to the pot, mix in 1 tablespoon of Chia seeds and add 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, put in your bowl and add 1 full cup of blueberries. Delicious!
Ps I make several 4 portions at a time, and place in individual containers, keeps up-to 4 days.

I Dr.Frida. i am living with CD as a result of Lupus. I do see a Nephrologist. Due to potassium being an issue in CDalong with phosphorus, i try to eat a low potassium diet. I read where it says uts not good to eat salmon when you have CD. At times i am afraid to eat foods with potassium in it. I watched your video and i am encorporating the foods you mentioned. What is the amount of potassium can i consume each day? I know potassium is good for your nerves, muscles, etc. Iam also taking medications for the Lupus and is on Xeralto as a blood thinner. I have HBP as well. I have osteoarthritis. I don,t want to end up on dialysis so, i am trying to to eat better, i have lost a bit of weight in the process. I try to walk as much as i am able. Sometimes the knees act up so, i have to take a break. I am scared to eat foods containing potassium. Can you fffer any tips to help

If one follows your nutritional guide lines - it could mean coming off type 2 meds.
I eat garlic raw mixed with tumeric , extra Virgin Olive oil, than add a little apple cider vinegar with ground broccoli, and minced ginger root.

Excellent recipe: kale, chickpeas cooked, raw red pepper, raw onion, one red apple, walnuts, chia seeds, avocado- add red pepper flakes, pink Himalayan salt, and key lime to the avocados, raspberries, walnuts, cucumbers and put it all in salad with mother raw organic balsamic vinaigrette. I promise it’s delicious
