I’ve owned Audis for over 20 years and in my opinion the more you service them at dealers, the more goes wrong with them. All I do now is change the oil twice a year and filter once a year. I have spent hardly anything on maintenance on my current two Audis, a Q7 and A3 TDI over the last 5 years. The thing that break would still have broken had they been fully serviced, like suspension bushings etc. so save up on service and put the money aside for when something breaks is my advice. I now have over $15000 set aside from not doing regular service and will use this to fix any major issues.

I have a 2006 Allroad and I change the tyres at about 3mm. I drive it like a limo so expect 30k from a set of budget tyres....strangely enough, it's never stepped out of line even in slippery conditions. Of course if you launch the bluddy thing everywhere you go, your mileage may vary but I currently have 4.5 mm of tread left on all four and rotate as needed and they'll get through the mot in a couple of months time. Budget tyres aren't bad, certainly not for my style of driving and they last as well as premium. But yes they get replaced as a set.......so hopefully no drivetrain issues for me.
Matt, could you do a video talking about tyres? I'm sure you've dealt with tonnes of different brands, and whilst it may seem like a boring video, I'm sure we'd all watch an informative video about which tyres are good value for money, and which ones look like you've taken care of the car when you come to sell it...
Having worked in the tyre industry for 40 years, 30 of them with Bridgestone, I put a lot of faith in judging a cars maintenance levels by the quality of rubber. You start seeing budgets on a car line a Q7 you start to wonder what else the owner has scrimped on.
With a premium car brand, condition is everything. I’ve bought a car with similar history in the past (a Lexus) and managed to get hold of the full service history by making one phone call. As an aside, I’d never buy an Audi with full leather as it tends to go baggy after time. Presumably, larger people buy Audis 🤣

Don’t be concerned Matt, with that age and mileage, Audi has to have some information on it. Example, my 2017 BMW had no history when I bought it 6 months ago. I bought it at a BMW dealer in Dallas Texas. So, prior to signing, I went to the service department and Bingo, they had every service from new!
I used to work in a vehicle finance brokerage in Manchester, and observed that Audi Q7s come high on the list for satisfactory quality complaints. Range Rovers were the worst, but Q7s not far behind.

The fact it doesn't have the original numberplate is a HUGE worry that the front end has been replaced or something not registered officially has occurred. She didnt lose the service, just didnt do any!
There’s a reason why the main dealer didn’t retail it. Last MOT looks as if it’s been damage repaired, no way a car like that would fail with that many suspension problems. Sorry looks like a mechanically abused (expensive) family car. Being a diesel going that long without a service assuming there is no further missing history I’d be worried about oil quality with dilution when DPF regens - potential damage done. I’d run a mile but GLWS.
Not a bad car at all.... thing with audi is you need to make sure the gearbox and haldex are serviced at correct intervals.... because anyone buying one will check that ( unless they are daft anyway ) :p The oil changes are important but i think more so on the petrol versions, i may be wrong.
Your valeters still not cleaning the steering wheels as they're all shiney and if they're cleaned they look satin and more like new . Just a thought 😊😊
Great find. Lucky to get the service history. That at least proves the car has been looked after. I'm making sure my Suzuki is serviced every year and the book stamped. Not planning on selling it soon though
I haven't trawled through the comments but has anybody suggested seeing if the seller may recall the garage they used so you can contact them for a service history. Most decent garages keep records as you'd know

I've been waiting for what seems like a decade for used values to drop below £20k. I feel like they've hovered around there for five+ years. A quick look on Autotrader though and it appears the much newer Q8 isn't too far behind, I'm thinking mid 20's at auction. That's a heck of a lot of car for the money. The latest shape VW Tuareg thingy is also in the mid to low 20's. I'd still go for the Q8 though, but still...so much metal for not much outlay. And no, running it won't be more than my much older M3.
Misses has a 2016 3.0TDI 272 and its a great family car. She bought t from an Audi dealer with full Audi service history and we keep it serviced and maintained at our local Audi dealer. Its got nearly 82,000 miles on it and she's done around 30,000 of that and it's on Pirelli Scorpion tires and she's done over 20,000 on those tires and all are around 5mm tread left. She justhad the front brake discs and pads done and they were on for 30,000 and got the rear pads done and discs are great on the rear over 30k done but the discs are around £400 EACH from Audi but they aren't cheap from motor factors. Great car, brilliant on diesel and she gets 39mpg overall and it'll do mid to late 40mpg on a 70mph run no problem. We got a glow plug done by Audi Stockport snd they are great to deal with as are our local dealer in Cheshire Oaks.
The lack of service history would always worry me. Especially on a car as expensive as this. Another big worry is Landsail tyres is a red flag for me any cheap tyres usually tells me the car was run on a tight budget
Surely the lady knows where she had it serviced and you could contact the workshop and all the details. My Mercedes repair shop and the Harley dealership both keep online records.
I'm sure it never had a paper service book. My 2015 Defender has all the service details on-line, I would expect anything from Audi to have the same system. It's a ploy to stop the guy under the arches looking after your car as he can't download to central to confirm any maintenance. It's your choice in the end whether you want to spend the extra to get top dollar for resale or cheapen your experience.
As a detailer if I may say - it’s pointless putting an air freshener in a car without detailing or valeting it properly first, it won’t achieve anything👍🏻

Audi cliche matt " the indictor stalk is like new"
I thought that was a BMW thing.
Most decent garages keep records as you'd know
Some of the most reliable cars I’ve had have had no service history; and some of the most unreliable cars have had full main dealer history,
I love that interior design.
Great video Matt! Straighten up that rear number plate 😉😂
Yes is saw that as well, a wonky number plate on a 20k car. A bad look
Lovely car - the tyres and no history records had me worried for a while - but all was well in the end. 😀
if this guy was in Canada, i would buy a car from him.he fixes them up nicely
Best looking out of the Q7s
Best video yet
Ooo la la ❤ I do love these Q7s, I’d have one myself if it wasn’t so expensive to keep and maintain. I love the Q5’s
Dont forget your regular VAG
check and all will be fine
You need the right tyres in each corner on those. Same as the cayenne and touareg. They can wind up their own transmission.
Enjoyable straightforward video. Great one!
Bring a bottle of single malt whiskey to the audi vw skoda bentley or lambo service mgr, buy an oil chabge and set of wipers They can run the vin & printout/rmail the history with prior owner info deleted.
Like someone else said service history can be obtained from the dealer via an online lookup, mine got printed out for me on my TTS and that was 2015
i got a Mercedes ml350 amg bluetech and it had all service work giving on line history
Great video Matt. Enjoyed this, was of interest to me
Another good video Matt 🚗🚙🚘👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
I would doubt very much it’s been maintained to the schedule, servicing isn’t everyone’s priority for various reasons.
As a detailer if I may say - it’s pointless putting an air freshener in a car without detailing or valeting it properly first, it won’t achieve anything👍🏻
