    Thanks! Would it work with my ID44 or I would have limitations? I record drums once in a blue moon but it sounds good enough for what I do.

      Should work perfectly! No limitations, just won’t have the linked smart gain

    Question about the Behringer P16 you were using during tracking.. on Evo 16, are you able to use the analogue outputs and ADAT outputs simultaneously? For instance, using the analogue outputs to send to outboard gear, then using ADAT outputs to send to P16 for monitoring.
    Thanks!

    • @adamsteelproducer
      @adamsteelproducer  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don’t think that was Behringer, we weren’t using that for tracking- that was Aviom. But to answer your question yes the ADAT outputs run separately so you could run 16 channels out and mix as you wanted for artists

    Can i use the sp8 or evo 16 as a daw return via adat to a summing mixer/analogue? Curious about that.

  • @HR2635
    @HR2635 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    quick Question: Would you be able to do the same thing with 2 EVO 16's ?.. to me it looks like SP8 is slightly cheaper sure, but having 2 EVO 16 would for instance enable me to take one with me to my mixing setup (as I sometimes record drums in one room and mix it in another building) and use as a sound card. SP8 is AS FAR AS I CAN READ not a sound card as such? The difference in price is very small so if the linking works just as well with 2 EVO 16 then I'd rather buy two of them :-) ?

    • @Zero-Sun
      @Zero-Sun ปีที่แล้ว

      Curious about this too. I would not see a reason for it not to work with the ADAT ports on it. But not sure if smart gain would still operate in the same way

    • @hoagy_ytfc
      @hoagy_ytfc ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Here (in the UK) at this point in time, the SP8 expansion is actually slightly more expensive than the 16 in terms of the best prices I can find by shopping around. And I'd like to add more inputs to my 16, so I'm very interested in this question too.
      I suspect the key difference is in the SP8 fully integrating as an expansion so that all monitoring comes via the one pair of headphones, and all control is via a single app interface. I'm guessing that with two EVO 16s, you'd have two app interfaces for control. With a 16 and an SP8, you'd have one interface but with more channels.
      This is my best guess, but do remember it's only a guess before trusting me :)

      @@hoagy_ytfcfrom the comments I've read from Audient they don't recommend using a second sp16 as extra io, they recommend the sp8.

    so is an SP8 better than a ada8200 from behringer? or even better than a ferrofish pulse 16 when I only will use 8 outputs?

    • @HR2635
      @HR2635 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I own both. And YES. The SP8 is better than the ADA8200. Less noise, more precise gain settings(the gain knobs on the behringer are NOT consistent), and the sound is way more punchy and clear.
      there being said the behringer is actually still cool for drums, as it is a bit more analog sounding. Mostly because it's not as clean, and not as well build. So for toms for instance it's not bad. But yes: the audient is clearly better in every way and detail.
      I won't sell my behringer though, cause I won't get much money for it, so I still use it for some things. Like additional rooms mics.

    • @adamsteelproducer
      @adamsteelproducer  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If I’ve been sent a project to mix that’s in 44k, it’s better to stay in the same format than lose detail by resampling. I agree with you if we’re working right from the start of a project, but as a mixer often we have to run with what we’re handed

    • @HR2635
      @HR2635 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RealHomeRecording sure.. a little more when new. But thats not the pointe. Soundwise its all religion and the quality of the hardware is probably a little better with the claretts. I mention it because its stated like its a new thing and just wanted to point to the fact that it DOES exist elsewhere. And has been for some time.
      Dont get me wrong .. i like the evo8 for the features and sound. Audient isuper good soundwise. And when its been around for 3-4 years and I dont see it crapping out like the Audient 800 and 880 (like they did for me and 3 of my friends) then I might very well buy 1-2 of them!
