"If you got a smile on your face, you're doing it right" is the perfect advice for any hobby. There's no wrong way to enjoy a hobby, as long as you're happy then it's good!
not if you keep animals! if you want to keep a fish in a whater bottle and this makes you smile, its wrong anyway. but with non-living things, you can do what you want.
Unless your hobby inlcludes dangerous products like fire arms and explosives. Then there are definitely a few things you can do wrong which could result in a deadly situation for you or bystanders
I plugged the vent holes on all my rims and mount the tire after keeping everything in the freezer. It adds a little bit of air pressure which for my driving style and personal preference has definitely been a benefit.
Kevin : Play with it until you break it, then play with it some more until it is destroyed or no longer able to drive and needs MAJOR repair. Lol It is so much fun to watch you run the heck out of these RC vehicles and put them through REAL torture tests. I always come to your videos to see what will last and/or survive the "Kevin-Test." Traxxas, Arrma, or Banggood special, it doesn't matter, you always give your honest opinion whether a vehicle is worth the money to buy or junk and run away. Thank you for putting smiles on our faces. Bash on, brother!!
Thanks for this video. You saved me a lot of money. I was interested in this hobby, but you showed me the bottomless money pit it is. Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.
Yeh totally agree. Had RC car as a kid and broke everytime I used it. Bought a new lipo powered cheapy - insanely fast but still stupidly fragile. Then you look at these big pro things as they are even bigger money pits. I’ll stick to proper cars.
To be fair you probably watched the worst video as an introduction. Not all rc cars are this fragile, and losi was never really known for high quality. This thing is just so heavy. Plenty of stronger cars if you’re still interested, the slash vxl, the xmaxx, any of the 3-4s arrma trucks. It may look expensive but given that most of the components are plastic it ends up being cheap. I think it’s only like 30 bucks for a brand new xmaxx chassis and like 15 for each bulkhead
@@da66er74 Ok class listen up.. 1. If you want to bash stick to plastic ( preferably Traxxas rc's) 2. Remember.. Metal bends, plastic flexes! The Losi featured in this vid is not fragile. It's a huge 1/5 scale buggy with alot of metal and wasn't designed to be bashed this way.. Mr. Talbot is just a special kind of savage 😂 Stick to smaller size rigs to minimize damage to your rc's and your wallet 😉
Kev, I use to put thin cable ties around those wheels they fit perfectly between the knobs on the tyre so doesn’t interfere with traction either and stops them expanding 👍🏻
4:53 - Reminds me of watching NASCAR years ago with Ned Jarrett announcing. If he saw a tire running around the track by itself, he'd break out into song: "You picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel!"
Those type of tires is all my dad runs on his 1/5th scale, I use more of a step pin type on mine. When he put his build engine on it, he broke all sorts of stuff. But, once he got all that sorted out, he hasn't had to replace any parts on it in a couple of years. FYI, I have a King Motor Dark Knight and I love it. I raced it for a few years but I normally just bash it now. I have had it for over 10 years. I did break the back tab off the motor in a race and I did have to replace the throttle/break servo on it. It has been a solid RC car and I run it. A few years ago, I upgrade the electronics on it. I put my Spektrum radio on it, Savox servos and I put the 7200 Mah Lipo on it and a Killer Bee fail safe on it.
The weight of this Losi is killing it everytime. I've seen it in many videos. I saw one video, first run, first jump, not that high and just broke the rear arm(s) and suspension. It's not my car though i love watching it in videos like this.
Kev you should know.. although you helped the tire not blowing, putting those tapes inside the tire and especially the little ones for the hole, you messed up with the balance of the entire wheel! You gave to the can a tremendous amount of vibration at the higher RPMs.. Maybe that's the reason the car is falling apart..
For high speed bashers: Block rim holes, drill holes in rubber tyre. For crawlers: Block rim holes only. Bashers have high wheel speed and any water will fling out - they need the tyre to be able to deform under load. Crawlers have no high wheel speed so water will end up degrading the foams. The extra pressure inside the crawler tyre can help performance - similar to a few psi inside the tyre when trying to find traction
Hi kev,I had all these issues on my dbxl and finally bit the bullet and bought flm cvd shafts for the centre shafts and fid heavy duty for the main drive shafts, held up alot better
