    Kev, I use to put thin cable ties around those wheels they fit perfectly between the knobs on the tyre so doesn’t interfere with traction either and stops them expanding 👍🏻

    It is so much fun to watch you run the heck out of these RC vehicles and put them through REAL torture tests. I always come to your videos to see what will last and/or survive the "Kevin-Test." Traxxas, Arrma, or Banggood special, it doesn't matter, you always give your honest opinion whether a vehicle is worth the money to buy or junk and run away. Thank you for putting smiles on our faces. Bash on, brother!!

    Those type of tires is all my dad runs on his 1/5th scale, I use more of a step pin type on mine. When he put his build engine on it, he broke all sorts of stuff. But, once he got all that sorted out, he hasn't had to replace any parts on it in a couple of years. FYI, I have a King Motor Dark Knight and I love it. I raced it for a few years but I normally just bash it now. I have had it for over 10 years. I did break the back tab off the motor in a race and I did have to replace the throttle/break servo on it. It has been a solid RC car and I run it. A few years ago, I upgrade the electronics on it. I put my Spektrum radio on it, Savox servos and I put the 7200 Mah Lipo on it and a Killer Bee fail safe on it.

      Yeh totally agree. Had RC car as a kid and broke everytime I used it. Bought a new lipo powered cheapy - insanely fast but still stupidly fragile. Then you look at these big pro things as they are even bigger money pits. I’ll stick to proper cars.

    • @da66er74
      @da66er74 ปีที่แล้ว

      To be fair you probably watched the worst video as an introduction. Not all rc cars are this fragile, and losi was never really known for high quality. This thing is just so heavy. Plenty of stronger cars if you’re still interested, the slash vxl, the xmaxx, any of the 3-4s arrma trucks. It may look expensive but given that most of the components are plastic it ends up being cheap. I think it’s only like 30 bucks for a brand new xmaxx chassis and like 15 for each bulkhead

    • @_savageasfck_
      @_savageasfck_ 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@da66er74 Ok class listen up..
      1. If you want to bash stick to plastic ( preferably Traxxas rc's)
      2. Remember.. Metal bends, plastic flexes! Bent metal will never be truly straight again after sustaining any major damage. Metal chassis' and parts are better for light bashing and speed runs (easier on the wallet too)
      3. The Losi featured in this vid is not fragile. It's a huge 1/5 scale buggy with alot of metal and wasn't designed to be bashed this way.. Mr. Talbot is just a special kind of savage 😂 Stick to smaller size rigs to minimize damage to your rc's and your wallet 😉

    Kev, I've taken my DBXL-E apart too many times to not consider myself a pro lol. What I've done is on the front drive cups I tripped some gorilla tape and wrapped it twice around the drive cup to cover the holes where that pin can slide through, locktite the grub screw holding the pin in place and I have 0 issues there. I run Badlands MX-43 tires, had to taper out the hole since they are for Xmaxx rc trucks. I also have swapped every and I mean every screw from the bottom to the center diff with stainless steel screws they hold much better with locktite. Anyways you're the one I follow for tips and tricks lol I just figured I'd offer some insite on what I do to keep mine held together and running. I also have it geared up, and ampd up so I've broken quite a few parts here and there.

      I lived in England for about 3 years, and to be honest I wouldn't say it rains 75 percent of the time (depends what part of England really). But in general, yes it does have quite a lot of days of rain, generally light to moderate but certainly not 75 percent of the time. For high speed bashers: Block rim holes, drill holes in rubber tyre. For crawlers: Block rim holes only. Bashers have high wheel speed and any water will fling out - they need the tyre to be able to deform under load. Crawlers have no high wheel speed so water will end up degrading the foams. The extra pressure inside the crawler tyre can help performance - similar to a few psi inside the tyre when trying to find traction

      @@brandonegan523 Oh absolutely, in this vid he doesn't go as hard as some of his others and the DBXL is a rig that is meant to take some abuse. At least as far as 1/5th scales go. But breaking stuff when you are hard on it is the name of the game, and after finding the weak spots it should be pretty durable afterwards. That's how I run my 1/5 scales, find the weak spots and upgrade that.

    Kev you should know.. although you helped the tire not blowing, putting those tapes inside the tire and especially the little ones for the hole, you messed up with the balance of the entire wheel! You gave to the can a tremendous amount of vibration at the higher RPMs.. Maybe that's the reason the car is falling apart..

    I agree 100% Kevin! Vented tires/wheels are the devil! On the tires… I have three sets of those tires. They are great! The nearest competition are twice the price!

    Cool video Kev, It's sad that DBXL-E 2.0 is falling apart i was thinking about one but now i might just spend the extra money and get a 5ive T 2.0 and convert to electric after i try the gas motor for awhile. And you're right do what you like in the hobby not what others like.

    I had the exact same problem with my DBXL-E 2.0, the pin backs out of the CV and obliterates the nut, fortunately you caught yours early, mine was an absolute pig to remove.
    Definitely looking for upgraded drivetrain still.

    I don't block my vent holes because of the added bounce, but for that reason I avoid water at all costs.

    tip: when buying new parts look for any parts that are sport versions they are made for higher speed and better for any crashes

    You should tighten the screws of the orange piece in a cross pattern since it's a circle.

    The point in venting the tires is to let the dirt out. It's like sandpaper on the foams. The hole in the rim will let stuff in but not out. Plus the holes in the tires allow for expansion and decompression

      That's cool kevin we just do that as part of the handling process of the suspension. When you block up the holes and make it air tight. It makes your cars tires harder and they tend to bounce the tires. Its just a set up thing ok. In 1/10 we do not put holes in our tires and rims.

    Little tip for the tire's.
    Put 2.000.000/20.000.000 weight in the center diff, you will love it.
    100.000 in the front.
    And 75.000 in the rear, wil be a great video to.
    Cheers kev

    I think the holes in wheels was from back in the day where shocks were not dampened and gave the car more suspension and things have evolved without wheel redesign. Just imagine if real tyre rubber was used for rc purpose built for high speed rc of today. We would all buy them. Would squeal with wheel spin and hold together as we want. 👍👍

    The stock s905 servo in the 8s cars strip servo gears easy, mine steered one way fine but didn't the other way. It started as weak steering then completely died.

    I always plug and glue evey hole. It keeps the dirt out of the foam and chewing up the foam and I feel like the tires get better traction and less woble at high speed on dirt or asphalt. I had the sledgehammer tires last till completely bald

    I love my Losi's (especially the Eight-T) but all my buddies who got that DBXLE are always having issues them. Those drive shafts are expensive! That platform was never truly meant for Brushless power it seems. The gas version lasts a lot longer and I believe it due to the clutch. Maybe a system like the Tekno Traktion Drive (but scaled up to 1/5th scale) would make the drive train last longer.

    You should do a bench test with the taped tires to show the difference. I always tape my tires and seal my rims, no water issues here. Good thing to, as I live in a GD Rain Forest.
