Prince slayed it as usual and his band was absolutely phenomenal! He never misses!
I was there. 1995. I was the video editor of this and many of the NPG videos. Had dinner with Chappelle after the show at Perkins Pancakes. Thanks for the memories.
What?!?! That’s crazy! Thanks for sharing and so cool you had that experience! Have a great one!
Perkins in chanhassen I bet lol
A phenom as a sing writer and a lyricist amongst all other things. As a young Purple Fam member in high-school in the late 80's, every paper surface near me was covered with Prince song lyrics. He was a beacon of creativity and determination! A major personal influence.
I didn’t expect you to get to this so quickly. Thank you so much. I’m so happy that you enjoyed it. I’ll send some more Prince requests your way. Maybe, some performances on other instruments 💜💜💜
Can’t go wrong with more Prince! Thanks so much for your generosity! This was a killer performance and I can’t wait to hear more!
Prince was a musical genius and he played guitar like the best Top 20 guitar players that ever existed. God bless him.
Absolutely insane! 🔥
Not according to Rolling Stone magazine!!! And Prince's response was "My guitar gently weeps" guitar solo!!! He shut it down and walked off the stage like the premiere guitar player that he is!!! Underrated does not cover it!!! He could play 28 different instruments!!!
Prince was the sexiest man ever to walk the Earth - Just another one of his unique gifts.
It’s not fair is it?! Good looks and an incredible player on multiple instruments! Come on man! 😂🤣
@@setonhillstudios Gifted by God. I think it was sometimes a burden for him.
Loved this reaction! Great request, Jenn!! 💜💜 Prince was the ultimate enemy of stagnation and commercialization of music. It’s a shame that most people typically only listen to the most mainstream stuff from like 2% of his overall career. There are so many incredible gems out there, and this is a great example of that! 💜
Completely agree! Such a killer tune from a legend! 💜
Beast on the guitar and excellent on all other instruments! Very underestimated musician!
No doubt about it! Prince is an absolute legend and his music will live on forever! Thanks for watching!
A masterful example of call and response in this track. It's built around that concept.
"Shhhh" (neck band) is a song Prince wrote, released on R&B singer Tevin Campbell's 1993 album "Can We Talk"
The only guy in 4 inch heels and eyeliner to steal your woman💜
Haha 🤣 No doubt about it!
Yet another example of why I believe Prince was the greatest recording artist of all time.
Such a Legend! Thanks for watching!
I say Prince and Stevie Wonder. It took me a long time to realize Stevie was even more prolific than Prince. He had an amazing streak of hits in his early 20's that is unmatched.
"Ride" was a concert-only staple for a while (in the tradition of "Electric Man", "? of U", etc.). Some of the concert-only jams eventually got proper studio versions (like "? of U"), and other ones were eventually released as live tracks (like "Ride" when Crystal Ball finally got released). Regarding the belly-baring tank top, just be aware that P rocked those pretty hard around '86 to '87 (so don't be surprised when you see the look from the Parade-era vids)!
Thanks for the info!
Prince was just incredible. They recently had a 40th anniversary celebration for Prince and the release of Purple Rain. Taj Farrant was the sprcial guest performer, and he was asked to perform The Ride as part of his set. Taj is 15, and he not only did justice to this song but did it his way.th-cam.com/video/M1QLNn2udng/w-d-xo.htmlsi=EQMSCn-QD44e2qyC Taj is going to be one of the guitar greats. Incredible player. He played Purple Rain with NPG. He opened for Morris Day and NPG during the celebration. Morris Hayes, Prince's musical director and keyboard player for NPG for over 20 years, has played with Taj at some of his shows.
Prince played more than 27 instruments
So many performances to check out but also the following: It’s Gonna Be A Beautiful Night (live) - on drums; Lovesexy Tour Piano medley; Glam Slam’94 Shoop - on Bass; please check out Empty Room from Montreux Festival 2009.
Appreciate the suggestions! So much out there to choose from! 😁
Sexy as hell. His walk, his gestures, his lyrics, his body, his mouth, his hands. His confidence. You asked because you could sense it! Never mind the ladies in the audience 💜
Yeeesss, he got a feel for timing , pauses and how to build a song..not to mention his stage presence. You see his devotion for music every second. He's always the person,on stage, who enjoy it the most. And he loved himself and knew very good about his talent and appearance . He played not for but with you and ask the crowd from the very first moment to answer. He is ,like you said, on another level..thank you bro , I can really say :" He changed my live." To see him on stage and breath the same air with him, was more than unbelievable. Purple love from germany . O(+>🎉
He really is on another level, just a once in a lifetime talent!
Also, Joy in Repetition Live (One Night Alone Tour... The After Show)... Prince TH-cam channel has an audio only version. The best guitar work he has shown!
I’ll have to check that one out!
Great reaction! You would probably enjoy the whole short film The Undertaker from 1994. The Ride is included, along with an early song Bambi, title track, Stones cover and about 4 more amazing tunes. The exceptional trio of Prince, Michael Bland on drums and Sonny Thompson on bass is a don't miss!
Awesome, thanks for the recommendation!
Prince is music! GOAT 🎸🎤🎶
Great reaction. And the guy with the half shirt is Tommy Barbarella
Gotcha, good to know! He was an incredible player I just got thrown off by the belly shirt 🤣
😂😂😂@@setonhillstudios
Love this. Check out Taj Farrant playing by request from the man who has some rights to Prince's music. The kid is 15, up in. Paisley Park by Invite because he does Purple Rain like oooh shiiit!!
He was incredible! Taj is one guitar player, if you love the instrument, you need to watch. He did a phenomenal job playing Prince and he does as well playing Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Johnson and he is amazing playing Gary Moore especially his song Parisienne Walkways. Taj's own original songs are good too.
✨Absolute Genius ✨
💯 Such a LEGEND!
I love Prince.... YOu should check out Motherless Child ...it is a live one also
He’s such a legend! Thanks for the suggestion! 😁
You are not wrong. He was absolutely SEXY💜💜💜
Great reaction! Thank you! 😀
Thanks Linda, this was a fun one for sure!
Zannalee is another bluesy Prince cut worth checking out.
Sweet!
Wow, l think this may be one of the very rare times that he didn't have a female member in his band.
I LOVE the undertaker album 💜
Was Prince a sex symbol ? ... Is water wet ? 😊
🤣😂🤣😂 Fair point
Lol - Prince wore more finely tailored belly shirts than the year has days.
He was indeed a sex symbol his entire career. Watch his appearance on The View for confirmation.
Was Prince a sex symbol you ask? Was he a ladies man? I don't want to be crude, but he saw more 😻 than a gynecologist. He was with some of the most beautiful women in the world, throughout his career. But, music was the only love he could truly stay monogamous to. Keep digging deep into his catalog. It is as vast and varied as you will ever find.
🤣😂 Truer words have never been spoken! More Prince to come on the channel for sure!
Facts💜💜
28 instruments he plays..
💜
There is a much better version of this song here th-cam.com/video/_g9CVvNrkVU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-0GulyGzBPe9EV6Z
Appreciate the link….I’ll have to check it out! Thanks!
Prince was just Prince! Nothing special! You know I’m lying!😂🎸
🤣
The version of this song from the sacrifice of victor aftershow is, in my opinion, a better version than this…and this one is fantastic!
