Prince's Guitar is unbeatable. One of the problems from 1977 until his death was the frustration and envy of others.And I understand that perfectly. Frustration on the part of all those who were stars of the guitar, because it made them understand just by playing it, that they will never be better than him. It does not matter how many years they have or dedicate to playing it. It's very hard to deal with this.The way PRINCE plays guitar is ABSOLUTELY ORGANIC . He PLAYS guitar as he breathes. P knew every sound of a guitar such a way, that he could leave it on the ground and without touching it, only by moving it, could make you listen to a spontaneous musical composition and make you cry. No other person who plays the guitar, whether he is a guitar star or not, can do it like him. Never. However, any guitarist who dedicates himself to listening to Prince on the guitar without aspiring to be like him and with zero envy, will learn and improve SO MUCH. You know WHY? Cause Prince is a TEACHER himself. A long journey INTO PRINCE will bring you everything, and it will take out of the depths of yourself your true way of playing the guitar, YOURS. Because Prince is a master of music. Never forget it, and if you play the guitar, store everything you can still find from him on yt forever, listen to it when you need it and learn FROM IT. You will be surprised at your ability and yourself. Prince is a teacher,n and the best one you can have. And he gave it to the world for free. Put yourself under the influence of his guitar.... you will see how your identity as a guitarist blossoms.

Prince made it quite obvious that he loved playing the guitar. But his true love was composing and performing his music, of which his incredible guitar playing was only a small part.
I recorded him live a couple times and noticed that he spent way more time than most artists in soundcheck and rehearsal for a night’s performance, while devoting literally not a single minute of those hours to his guitar. He was endlessly demanding of his band and crew to meticulously achieve his goal of performance perfection - not of any instrument - but of the presentation of his songs. He had a famously acute ear as any engineer who worked with him can attest. As a monitor engineer, if you decided to make the subtlest ‘improvement’ - in your opinion - to the sound he heard, you better damned well be prepared to defend it, because he would instantly hear it and, if unhappy with it, might offer a blistering critique of your judgement. This may sound harsh, but all his colleagues that I have spoken with have been very proud and ultimately happy to work in those conditions precisely because that excellence he insisted on is a shared goal for us all. He was a fascinating guy and is terribly missed by his collaborators as well as his audience.

I also read that someone said it was "practice" at PP. Prince quickly corrected by saying practice is for at home. This is a rehearsal. And they would spend hours upon hours rehearsing. 💜🎶🎶🎶

Miles Davis said Prince may be the most talented musician he’s ever heard. This coming from a Man who played with Bird, Dizzy, Coltrane, Hendrix and many other greats……unreal.

All this, and was an incredible athlete and dancer (in high heels)!
If humanity holds on a few more decades, the smarter kids will be in awe to learn that we lived in the time of Prince Rogers Nelson!

Prince never played "The Ride" the same way twice. That's a testament to Prince's approach to music and his love of blues.

I have got so much to say about Prince 's guitar & this performance...I will try to keep it compact, but I dunno man .....
K. One thing Prince does here that goes way under the radar is his constant but EXTREMELY subtle use of the DigiTech Whammy pedal. Most people seem to use it in a really grandiose manner, but Prince is absolutely masterful here, using it in a way that, frankly, I've not heard before. If you listen carefully, you'll hear that he transitions from the whammy pedal to the wah, and back again, with such uncanny control that it borders on sorcery. This is most prominent during his little call & answer moments (so crucial to the blues) where he uses his guitar as a voice to answer his own lead vocal. And Imma tell ya what, his guitar voice is an eloquent, sophisticated one, the equal to any top tier guitArist who uses a guitar in a vocal way.
Prince just might be the G.O.A.T. in this department. That crazy interplay between whammy pedal & wah & physical whammy bar is freaken superlative. It's something new under the guitarist's sun, and Prince delivers it so casually while singing and directing the band, AND his note choice is often highly unorthodox.
Which leads to my next point. When you listen to this, you know you are hearing the blues. It FEELS like the blues, doesn't it? Prince's solos and between-vocal phrases sound bluesy, am I right?
When we get to the end of this track, we think "Daaayyumm, what a great slow burn blues track that was, Prince is MUCH better on guitar than I thought."
Yeah. Lemme tell you how much better than the previous ' better than I thought' Prince actually is.
During this whole performance, I'd say that maybe 40% of what Prince played was strictly within the blues scale. Furthermore, this whole thing was almost completely devoid of standard blues licks or 'blues cliches.' I say 'almost' because there were a few sprinkled in there, because Prince wanted them there to occasionally reconnect the audience to "oh yeah, this is the blues." The rest of this masterpiece of guitartistry is just..outside. What Prince has done here is to reinvent the blues and take the form outside just as jazz greats like Miles Davis, John Coltrane, & Thelonious Monk did.
Except that
Prince pulls sleight of hands-on-fretboard and makes us think simultaneously "this is not the blues" & "daaam, that Prince can sure play the blues." all the while going sneaky stealthy outside the traditional harmonic structure of the blues, all the while keeping the blues scale by violating the blues scale! Sometimes he played certain notes of the scale, but in places nobody else would EVER think of putting them. He got into some shredding (at which he is no slouch), and did that in his own quirky manner too. Prince exhibited a wide, sophisticated pallete of thick, A-1 Steak Sauce juicy guitar tones that were as delicious as if they'd been dripping off some tri tips or filet mignon.
Finally, what Prince did here was almost beyond belief. He did not take Prince and go to the blues. He MADE THE BLUES COME TO PRINCE!
This guy has been blown off far too often as a "really good guitarist but not on the level of Hendrix, Beck, SRV, Vai, or Bonamassa"
I will admit that before this video I thought of Prince in a similar way, but I have no problem admitting I was wrong. In fact I was wrong earlier in this comment when I said Prince might be the G.O.A.T. The truth is, there is no one singular G.O.AT. , There are many of them, though not so many as to make membership in that club common. What Prince is, is surely one of the greatest guitarists to ever pick up the instrument.
Prince reminds me most of Eric Gales; he doesn't sound like Gales, but he has that same effortless fluidity and innate melodic sense, combined with technical profiency, unorthodox style, and raw emotion.

He may be the most talented entertainer in history when you consider he wrote, produced, played many instruments, along with his stage presence, dancing etc.

He was an enigma, he's not remembered as a guitarist, but could have very easily made a whole career out of it.. Crazy. (better than many that did)

Seriously, this isn't hyperbole. He was easily top 5 all time but never recognized as such. He was insane on the guitar and explored so many genres.
Better than most that did, and not just guitarists, pianists also and probably others.

Horribly enough, I'm truly ashamed to admit it, I didn't appreciate Prince's musicianship until his passing. I mean, I knew he was an amazing performer and I had heard that he was a decent guitar player. But only now is it sinking in to me, and to a lot of others, just how incredibly talented he was! Never heard anyone play the blues quite like this, was he does with the whammy bar for instance is extremely cool-- and his playing totally accentuates the song. As does his singing and the emotion of the whole performance, beautifully accompanied by a superb backing band. Thanks for this video, you hit all the points that we can now see and that we should have appreciated before. Wow, what a sad day it was when we lost this supremely talented performer.
I've been a Prince fan for 35+years of my life. Listening to his albums doesn't do him justice. Seeing him live was a spiritual experience. I've been lucky enough to see him 10xs.
I bet the reason why a lot of people didn’t realize Prince was as good as a musician as he was, because when Prince was alive, he was very private and secretive. He didn’t like for us fans to have full access to his live performances on video. He would have them removed or blocked. But I was lucky enough to see Prince live in concert twice in my lifetime. His performance always memorized me...
@@BlaccTony69 you're spot on about this. Prince kept his musicianship under wraps to a certain extent by not allowing videos of his performances on the net. You could see and hear the insane musicianship at his concerts but it's not like he was doing regular world tours, partially due to his health issues, so there's a generation that perhaps missed him.
@@sdemosi Sorry to have to contradict you on this, Sdemosi, but Prince never stopped touring all over the World in both big and small venues, and he never had health issues until his unexpected death. Even in the early 2010, when he had hip issues, he continued touring and never cancelled any shows. A lot of people missed him simply because he did not promote his tours like every other big superstars and like he used to in the 80's, plus he often announced his concerts only a few days before they happened. He was doing everything differently so you had to be aware and available for Prince ^^ But if you really wanted to see him live, you just had to look for him and there he was somewhere near your house.

I think many people were so focused on Prince's showmanship, style, and personality that his formidable musical skills were overlooked - but they were really the foundation that gave him a platform in the first place. Great analysis- thanks!
Elizabeth Santersero I agree that many overlooked his virtuosity as a player and composer. However, I think you have it backwards that those qualities were the foundation for his success in reaching a huge following. Showmanship, style, and personality are exactly the bases of his ‘platform’. He himself knew this and was a very savvy user of those common tools for pop music success.
Anyone with a musical 'ear' noticed. I was only 19 when Purple Rain came out, and his ability with piano AND guitar, blew me away!!!!!

How old are u I disagree he was a one of the best musicians of all time writer producer arranger the whole package plus wrote songs for a ton of artists .now paul mcartney and john lennon had showmanship too would u say that about them or music stealing frickin Elvis ? My comments on Prince mentioned formidable musical skills, showmanship, personality, and that he was memorable and successful, not that he was the best or the only one with those attributes. We've been blessed with a multitude of talented performers in different styles, saying something positive about one doesn't mean others aren't appreciated.
Man... Prince is from another planet. People endlessly debate who's "better" or "worse" as a guitar player, and what Prince has in common with Hendrix (even though people DO constantly call Hendrix "the best") is that notions of "better" or "worse" almost don't apply to them because they're so alien and original in their approach to the guitar.
Whether someone comes along who's faster, or follows changes more expressively, or whatever we measure "good" by, it doesn't really matter. Every time I hear them step up, I hear sounds come out of a guitar that I've never heard from another human. I can listen to Stevie Ray Vaughan play the blues all day, or Tommy Emmanuel's amazing pounding fingerstyle, or even Satriani's insane guitar acrobatics, but I don't know that I'd actually walk away from them every time thinking about music differently. I've heard those sounds before, even if it's just from them. I know what those sounds are, and while they're really good it's quite rare that they come out of nowhere and surprise me.
Okay, SRV's "Little Wing" did that. Any of them *can*. But Prince just pulls something previously unknown out of the cosmos every time he picks up a guitar. I don't know how fast he is or how perfect his bends & vibrato are or anything like that. All I know is that when he steps up to play, I know I'm going to hear something new and walk away having learned something. And after listening to a whole lot of guitar, that's a rare and special thing.
I don't think he has the best techniques (there are plenty of fast fingers and exotic techniques), but the soul that he brings is unique. He has influences from Santana and Hendrix, but he's neither. His range of styles is unmatched.

@surfitlive To be even more specific - Prince HIMSELF is the one who said people are always comparing him to Hendrix but Santana is his model. Words from his own mouth, but people, even his fans, ignore him.

When Prince was alive people would always say "Don't look into his eyes". He would make grown men blush. I think one of the main reasons he doesn't get a lot more recognition for his guitar play is the fact he was in control of his own music and it just didn't get mass play like other guys. Now with his death, you are starting to see what this guy could really do. I still remember when Purple Rain came out. It was a stop what you're doing and watch that. When I guy can play all the instruments, write the song, and put it all together. That has to show you what kind of musician he was. Great review.

@@DTWC Maybe Bibi Casas meant that Prince is rarely included in those "xxx best guitar players"-lists and videos. However, Prince will always have a huge flock of dedicated fans who are "in the know" about Prince's prowess as a guitar player.

Prince was a genius. There was no one like him, he could play almost every instrument and did it most of the time better then a musician that spend their whole life on practising on a instrument.
Prince is such a under-rated guitarist. He is one of the best, maybe the best of all time. Also because of his capability to play almost every genre.
He is not under-rated. He is a guitar hall of famer. One of the most, even by professional musicians I might ad, praised guitarists alive and dead. Singing and piano also showed his genius and complete understanding of music. He was right to leave bass and drums to Levi, John and Sheila. He sure worked with great musicians and will be missed.
Let's not forget Stevie Wonder and the often-overlooked Junie (Morrison), who, as a child progidy was band leader and composer for The Ohio Players on "Pain", "Pleasure", "Ecstasy", "Funky Worm", on his own "Granny's Funky Roll Royce" and with Parliament-Funkadelic was responsible for "One Nation Under A Groove", "Knee Deep" and so many other songs from that period. They both also sometimes played all the instruments on their records and were super-talented, so let's remember, Prince was talented, but he was not by himself with his talent!
I remember a quote from eric clapton. Some one asked him How it feels to be the greatest living guitarist His responce was I don't know Ask Prince. That RRHOF performance for George was stunning. There is a remastered version now.
He could sing, he could dance, he could write songs. But what everyone forgets is he could play guitar with the best. Genius in the true sense of the word.

Avery St. Clair I don’t want to see an artist not enjoying himself playing. Prince was very entertaining on stage he had it all. He could play rock, blues, funk, pop, jazz you name it. A master musician, he could play at least 27 instruments.
Sometimes the word genius is thrown out too frequently. However this man could play any genre. And the instruments. But his piano and guitar work is unbelievable. Also something not touched on enough is the quality and quantity of songs he wrote. Many i am afraid we wont live long enough to hear. He had two early songs Reflection and Empty Room which he reworked into masterpieces. I really regret never seeing him in a live performance.

I was lucky enough to see Prince when he did his recedency at the O2 London and he was immaculate. Easily the greatest live performance I have ever witnessed! A true genius who we be greatly missed. Sleep peacefully.. 🙏🏽
There's never been a musician in the modern era with as much talent as that guy. He could play anything and everything. The guy was truly unbelievable. Not to mention the hundreds of songs that he's written. No one is close.

Also, Prince played guitar since a young teen. He would practice non stop for 8-10 hours straight. He would also rehearse with his band non stop for 4-6 hours, plus his 3 hour concerts for 45 years is Amazing 😉
His RRHOF performace with Tom Petty pretty much was the apex. Even Tom was incredulously watching Prince take off with the performance. Maybe the best awards ceremony performance ever.
That was because he got dissed by the guitar rankings so he put it on them like Jorge Masvidal put that knee on Ben Askren this weekend. Prince was the Bruce Lee of Music his style was definately Jeet-Kune-do😝
There were about 6 legends on that stage that were all losing their shit watching Prince play.
One of a kind Prince. His musical instrument chops may be the most of anyone ever. So many with unbelievable excellence.
We used to see him at 1st Ave where he filmed Purple Rain. He was just a local artist to us. He was a genuinely nice man that picked up our bar tab occasionally. He was supremely talented!

Another great critique. Prince reminds me, in many ways, of Bach. Bach was a master of so many styles of composition, and always masterful in every composition he undertook. He did so many styles masterfully that his overall mastery of music, from style to style, is what so many of us who love his music revere. Prince's understanding of every aspect of production and performance is unparalleled, as you said. His greatest technical skill is perhaps, like Bach, mixing every facet of that skill and knowledge into some of the most original and expressive music ever. Thanks.

I never understood the praise about Michael Jackson, when prince has/had such unique creativity and soul.
Michael started amazing people as a small child so it continued on whereas Prince didn't have that advantage. When they made it a competition people didn't know what Prince really did except those who fell in love with Prince's work right away.

That's all I knew of Prince..mainstream. Not until after his passing was I introduced to the unbelievable talent he possessed! Love his live performances....as hard as he was working it..he was aware of every note, every movement of every one in his band..Aware of lighting, aware of sound..which he would correct right in the middle of the performance. Amazing focus. Loved your analysis of the G.O.A.T. Don't know how I missed it up until now!

Prince was God's gift to music and I just had a friend check out this DVD for me at the library last year just so that my uncle could see it. Man, do I miss him literally EVERYDAY.....

What can I say about Prince, absolute genius, he did it all, I miss that guy so much, this performance was incredible, great band, bass, drums... Guitar, Wow insane!
As an older rocker (2 years older than Prince) and having been around when Hendrix was alive as well as the other guitar gods of the late 60s, Clapton, Beck, Page, Allman, Gibbons, the Three Kings, Albert Freddie and BB, and so on, Prince’s blues guitar holds up well among these guys. No he didn’t have the time invested in the guitar, yet his performance demonstrates that he was a prodigy in all musical genres and most instruments. Unfortunately he remains underrated for his guitar work and sadly always will.
He was an all-around world-class entertainer - not to be matched. So sad not to have the privilege of seeing him in a live performance again. Thank you for this very interesting critique and your appreciative critique.

He did put the time in with his guitar...was playing since his early teens...that’s all he did was play the guitar on his spare time...but he also mastered many other things...

Thanks for showing Prince so much love and respect, my favorite guitarist of all time. I was fortunate enough to have seen him live 54 times and nobody even comes close to his level of showmanship. Oh, and that's Rhonda Smith on bass whom I have seen about a dozen times with Prince and three times with Jeff Beck.

I've seen him live several times while he was still here with us. He is present on stage. His playing is like no one. Very versatile. I have this DVD where he plays in Vegas, Great analogy on his playing. Respect.
Fil, as an original prince fan, also heavy metal, rock and funk fan, I really appreciate your take on this, your opinion is important, you are one of the few reviewers who knows what he's talking about.
He was impressed by Springsteens command of the band with a nod of the head.. the band are up on so many songs and he plucks songs out of the blue to play, hardly has a set list. And the practice thing you said, prince NEVER SLEPT, that why he was so good at those different instruments. Ive been feet away from him when hes doing a bass solo, and yes, he melted my face off.
Prince excelled at anything he put effort into. You got to appreciate anyone with that mind set and dedication.

I so enjoyed this performance. I was not aware of his bluesy side as I've never seen him live so I only saw him in videos which were mostly his hits. I am more than impressed with the artist he was. I love that he has many females in his bands. Not many artists seem to do that. I regret never seeing him live before he passed. Thank you Fil for providing this opportunity. I will definitely search out other live performances.

It's scary, for ordinary folk like me, to think that he could have also played the entire bass, drums and keyboard parts in additional to the singing and guitar playing (but probably not without batting an eyelid - that was a kind of trademark of his).

I saw Prince live in 93/94 and was a fan from the (very) early 80's. It was his guitar work that brought me into his world and expanded my musical taste. I am a fan of rock and metal, saw Vai and Satriani as well as numerous Rock/metal acts and I can honestly say Prince could hang with Vai and Satch.
He may not of had the 'practice' on the guitar as you put it, but arguably he was a Genius, an Enigma etc as he could rock with the best, but also had all those other strings (pardon the pun) to his bow, able to play MANY instruments at such a high standard - using the various instruments that best suited the song and style.
I know you were overly critical at the George Harrison performance - but even that showed that he was far and above the best guitarist there. This could be a statement to those people that didn't think he deserved to have been on stage with them. Even today, after his death, there are people who still can't give him the credit he merits as a Guitarist because not 'every' song or style of music warranted the use of a 'rock' guitar sound. As I said, he had the ability to use many instruments and choose which best suited the song and some songs merited more Guitar than others. I can find quite a few examples on quite a few of his albums that really rock, not just funk, blues, pop etc that Prince can also do - again proving his versatility and diversity!!

I'm guessing that we're about the same age, and if you're referring to the version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps, with Tom Petty & Jeff Lynne & Steve Winwood, I didn't know that anyone had been critical of Prince's contribution as as I remember being quite literally astonished by the way Prince managed to not just hold his own, but steal the show amongst that kind of company. I have more than a sneaking suspicion though, that I am either missing something important, or have completely misunderstood something important. I can remember being unaware of the fact that Prince could even play guitar until I saw the video of let's go crazy, I had assumed that Prince had done something similar to what Michael Jackson had done when he had Eddie Van Halen playing the lead solo on Beat it. Michael Jackson was an incredibly influential & talented performance artist & dancer, with a beautiful singing voice but Prince was a genius, pure & simple.
Like a few ppl here, i have never seen this video, nor Prince playing The Blues, he was fabulous, couldn't take my eyes off him! First thing that popped in my head, dam, that rythum section! Sheila E. and the bass player, off the charts! To me Prince was a perfectionist, and it showed in every performance, especially, The Super Bowl , in 2007 what a stellar performance, in a very bad rain storm! When i saw the Movie 'Purple Rain', i fell in love with his musical talents, and became an instant fan! Even though he stole the show @ George Harrison's induction in to the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, it was mind blowing to watch him play 'As My Guitar Gently Weeps'..... Fil your analysis on this video was 100% off the chain, Excellent Job!

35 years and 2 days ago the album that changed my life, “Purple Rain” first appeared in record stores. Musically there was nothing this man could not do.
Incidentally, Prince employed more great female musicians than any popular artist in history. On this video Rhonda Smith is on bass and the immortal Sheila E is behind the kit.

I was lucky enough to see Prince, on the " Diamonds & Pearls tour ", back in the early 90's. All i can say is.....what a great concert. He was great showman, and musician, and had an excellent backing band. Hard to believe that was over 25 years ago.

Probably needed a doctor that handled his pain properly, rather than let him go down the rabbit hole. Same for me, but since I don't have access to unlimited funds, I have no rabbit hole to chase it down to be rid of pain and have to endure under-medicating post cancer stuff. I'm almost glad, but I would appreciate better handling of it. As a vet, I'm lucky I'm not on Motrin, so I don't complain.

Not a Prince fan exactly, but mad respect for his talent. I wish I'd have a tenth of it and was always envious. Never heard his blues before, so Fil, mad respect for you too, thank you.
Although Prince was clearly a savant with innate talent, one can argue that he spent just as much time on guitar as a solo guitarist if not more. Let's consider that Prince's dad got him a guitar at the age of twelve, this is after Prince had already taught himself to play his dad's piano as early as six years old. One can imagine Prince would have spent endless hours in his formative years on guitar, and that his understanding of piano and guitar would have opened up a natural understanding of the bass, so although there are different techniques to each instrument, one instrument unlocks the others.
With that said we also have to consider how prolific Prince was, thousands of unreleased songs as well as complete albums & compositions for other artist as well...All those hours in the studio, consider that Prince's guitar was a key feature on much of his work, meaning if we factor in all that studio time, let alone live performances, he was actually spending more time on music period, let alone exclusively guitar than the average musician. One of the best versions of the ride is on the live straight to dat album called The Undertaker, that version of the ride is at least ten minutes and fifty four seconds long, with Prince in a Band of Gypsy style three piece with Sonny T on Bass & Michael Bland on drums.

Frank Zappa is someone who comes to mind when is think of how Prince acts as a composer, arranger and guitar player. They both were unquestionably sailing their own ships.
I saw prince on his last tour in nyc at msg and I was never a huge fan prior but was blown away by his musicianship and such an enormous entertainer. A combination of Hendrix and Mr James Brown 👍

Thank U for your upload....I've been riding with Prince since The Purple Rain tour up until his last tour the Piano and the Microphone....from the age of 15 up until my current age of 49....2 have seen him LIVE.....is and was a magical thing....And if you look at that video of the induction of George Harrison... Prince got the OK to do what Prince does ...U can see Prince look over his shoulder and got an OK from his fellow musicians ....for sure....Cause artist know when Prince is on stage.....he was gonna do the damn thing....I've been blessed 2 have known that energy several times....💜✝️☮️

Absolutely love your content! I’m a muso from South Africa. A friend of mine back in high school was determined to convince me that Prince was a serious musician and in particular a legitimately great guitarist. He showed me two things that sold me and made me an obsessive Prince fan...1) Princes playing on the concert video for his Lovesexy tour and 2) a video of Prince playing with a 3 piece from the 90’s titled The Undertaker. I’m pretty sure both of these are accessible on TH-cam or somewhere online. They’re worth checking out if you haven’t seen them.
Even the really good guitar players that I knew back in the1980s, they all respected his ability and me as well thought he was pretty darn good.

About George Harrison`s Induction to RHOF 2004. It was Prince´s induktion the same year. So he wasn`t stealing the show it was his show too.
Yes but George had passed on unfortunately, so it was billed as a 'George Harrison tribute' performance, not a Prince induction performance ☺

Therefore, he was making a statement to all the guitar critics. also I read that he had never heard the song until a couple of days before the performance. One last thing, Prince stayed in the background at let others have the spotlight until it was his time to shine. And shine he did. Respect

What I like about Prince is his balance between entertaining while playing. I often see greats who either have to focus on playing or singing but don't often do both at once somehow its like he's always talking to a woman and just breaking her down. I learn so much 😄

Wow, it’s actually have a fact that Princes playing eclipses the work of every classical guitarist (Segovia etc.) , every jazz guitarist ( Pat Martino etc.) , every Fusion guitarist ( John McLaughlin) , every heavy metal guitarist ( Randy Rhodes etc), every contemporary rock guitarist (Satriani etc), other classic rock guitarists like Hendrix, Clapton, and all the other guitarists in Genres from Spanish, to Flamenco. That’s amazing, I never realized there was one actual undisputed top guitarist of all time! In fact I was under the silly impression that the very nature of great art and artistry precluded this possibility. Thank you l 🙏!

When he made Purple Rain,was the first time I was introduced to Prince. I was immediately drawn to his Guitar playing. His showmanship. Seems of course to drown out his pure feel of how incredible a Guitarist this man was. I know he stole the show at the awards show.I don't know if that was his meaning to outshine anyone else but he absolutely was spot on incredibly playing to a point where I seen Georges Son just loving this as much as so many did as myself. Lordy,lord he blew me away. And I never heard any of these comments by Clapton and others all I needed to hear was my ears and not even watch his performance. Such Soul and enjoyment to have this talent to do what music does. It moves you. When it's great ,you know it. I'd wish I'd heard so much more of his Blues playing. And his Piano playing was magnificent. Just hearing him Jam before a concert I knew this man was genuine Genius. Feel to me is everything no matter how shuttle or powerful. He my friend could do that all for me. Amazing. Deep down heavy old Blues this man ohh Man I wish had more time on this Planet to showcase his hair raising on my arms playing...
