Wow! Outstanding job with this video! Thank you for being a voice for the little guys. I am so excited to collaborate with you tomorrow. 💚 #SaveaParrot #FlockPower
@@leavenworthmedia2411 ya I kept my betta in 38 gallon (i know you dont have to go THAT big but it was the only aquarium I had ) and I even taught it tricks
Budgies are the most popular parrot, yet so underrated! They're "popular" because they're easy to exploit and cheap to not care for, and easy to replace! They are SO intelligent and deserve so much better!
Yeah! I have 2 budgies(i think they're like 4 months, i had to do some research tho) And i was able to teach them to step up on the second day!(only one of them cuz the other is *very* shy), its sad how most people get mad and abuse their budgies is because they don't talk and act like the ones on TH-cam. Those people also give up bonding with their budgies when they don't randomly start walking and cuddling with them and allowing to pet them, its so painful to watch😔
@@kavitakavita27 There is something deeply wrong within the human psyche that expects other people and creatures to function as they want without any regard for any other sentience. This tendency worries me deeply.
I don’t have budgies but I do think that the way the pet stores handle the budgies makes them loose their trust in humans. I am upset how they only sell tiny cages for these bird:( they deserve better.
I think we are giving our budgie Stormy the best life we can. He has a large cage, plenty of toys, likes seed, pellets, fruit and vegetables. He sleeps on us sometimes in the day and every day he sits on my shoulder while I'm working, chattering and whistling. He is so amazing and loved and I think he's happy :)
Hello there, I have a question. I bought a budgie a couple months ago and so far doing good but I was concerned about his shots a little. What time do you suggest for his shots?
I got one today and will get him a femalde in 2 days i want to tame them so they will get in their cage just to sleep i want them free to fly they are born to fly
My grandmother passed away 2 years ago and now I’m taking care of her budgie. She has spent most of her life in a cage but after watching your videos, I’m going to try/attempt to tame her enough so she can come out and fly around. I’ve also been looking at your cages so that’s also given me ideas on giving her cage an appropriate makeover. Thankyou so much for all your uploads!!! Super helpful
I'm in the same position.. my grandmother passed away a week ago and i'm taking care of her blue parakeet ( budgie), one of the reasons i'm watching this video. So i'll know how to take care of him. I have a dog and a cat but no experience with birds. So let's hope i make him happy ...
This video should be required to be watched before chain pet stores are allowed to even sell a budgie. So many kids get heart broken when theirs dies at 3-5 years of age, and cant figure out why when they did everything the store said to, with their small cages, all seed diets, free feeding millet hanging in the cage all day. Yes, buy your bird all mirrors and those cozy hide aways.... I get the feeling they do this on purpose so your birds do die faster, that way they can sell you another much sooner.... I also see this a lot on the parakeet reddit. Impulse bought budgies, what gender is it, what why is it laying on the cage floor, why wont this thing tame in 1 day?!!? Drives me up a wall, just because its a low cost creature doesn't mean you should treat it like dirt :( I don't get how anyone can ever buy any pet without putting any time or research into keeping it alive and happy for as long as possible! Love your videos by the way :D
@@Aouf1 if they're a budgie, no, please specifically buy products for budgies. budgies beaks quite tiny and it takes effort for them to chew on large pellets. or mash the fine size with a mortal and pestle.
@@Aouf1 36 high, 24 long xx deep??? You always want a cage that is longer than higher if you can. Even if parrots enjoy climbing, they naturally fly side to side, not up / down. I personally think cage size goes with how long are they going to be in said cage during the daytime? All day? Get them a bird room. More than half of the day? Get them a giant cage, with a lot of enrichment. Rarely in the cage, but in your company? You can get away with cage minimums for species & amount of them, for a sleeping cage (just make sure they have plenty of room to stretch) You also have to remember vacations, funerals, random insanity, other real life things that may cause you to end up needing to cage the bird. Depends on the pellet brand to be honest. High quality ones like TOPs and Harrison's are formulated for any sized parrot (depending on its needs). You are of course going to do a lot better with the smaller sized pellets over larger breeds. Then again you get a good deal on larger ones, you can always grind them down smaller as well. Some parrots prefer pellet powder on their veggies instead of pellets whole. Each parrot can be different though. Getting them started on a pellet is the best pellet to use. Afterwards convert to a better quality pellet. A fun pellet flow chart is something like this - Kaytee < Zupreem < Roudybush < Harrison's < TOPs (cheaper the pellet the less healthy it seems to be, when I researched, I myself now use a TOPs / Harrison's mix, but started on zupreem, cause its tiny, and golden colored, just like seeds, made converting crazy easy)
I’m 13 and spending a year to educate my self of budgies before going any where near buying one so I’m searching up all budgie videos EDIT : I did do enough research in the 7 months but then I developed anxiety im too anxious to have the life of budgies at my hands when I also have a dog so unfortunately I will not be getting budgies until I move out also thanks for the supportive comments btww :)) OKAY NEW EDIT: I’m 16 got medicated for the anxiety and got a cockatiel his name is Marvin and he’s the best
Same here. Ive been studying about budgies for around 3 years now. I’m only just now trying to convince my parents to let me get one. I started studying them when I was 12, and I’ve been saving up for one for about 6 months now
I seriously wish I watched this before getting budgies too. I impulsively bought two budgies, Kiwi and Blueberry without having any knowledge of birds. Their cage isn't huge, but it isn't tiny either. But still, I feel like I need to upgrade their cage since right now, they never come out of their cage due to not being tamed. Kiwi passed about about a year ago. Blueberry had never been alone, he's always been with another bird. I'm happy to say that I've learned from my mistakes, and thanks to this channel, am able to educate myself! I now still have Bluberry and Lemon and I'm working on taming them!
I wish I watch this to because I feed them a seed diet until about 1 month ago and I been doing hours of studying this month and been trying to get a fresh start for me and my two budgies
We had 3 Budgies growing up and found them extremely easy to care for. We let 2 out, and one of them stuck to me like glue and was such a great reading buddy 😂 Also, they can be very cheeky (Luckily, my great grandmother was deaf lol ), but I swear by these birds ❤
Hello I am confused that should I buy a budgie or a cocktail , I am a small girl but I am very responsible and can take care of the bird nicely . So can you please suggest me which one is best for me ...
I've had a free range budgie for the past sixteen months, and I'm still looking up information on the Internet and still learning things. Thanks for mentioning that budgies "hide their illnesses very well." I'll try to watch out for that.
Parakeets are social birds. You do need to spend time with them everyday. weekend, week out, all month, all year year after year. My parakeet, when I was 10 had not a large flight cage (I didn't know) but it didn't matter she was out of her cage almost all day and only ended up in her cage at night time. Because they are smart they need stimulation and not just toys, so if you start to spend less an less time with at least get another parakeet of more for company, just remember that when your tame or semi-trained bird is put together with others birdies they tend to forget about you.
So I just got a bus give today. And I have tons of questions. I’ve been watching videos about them and I’ve been reading multiple articles, but I’m scared that the budgie won’t like me. I know that since today is the first day I got it (him/her I don’t know the gender) it will be skittish. I’m trying to stay near it just relaxing while giving it space to relax. I’m playing music for it to listen to and I talk to it every now and then. I tried giving it little bits of an apple to see if that would help, but it won’t eat it. I was mostly wondering how do I gain its trust and how often should I care for it for. I’m also wondering if I move the cage to different places in the house would that scare the bird? Should I feed it every day and night or just every day? Should I give it snacks daily like fruit and veggies? And if so how often? I want it to bond to me, but I’m not sure if it will. How long should I wait to see if it will bond to me before I should get another bird to make it comfortable. How long should I let the budgie fly for? (I sound very insensitive for calling the budgie “It,” sorry)
It really depends, you can have multiple birds with varying levels of tameness. Botan did get a bit more aloof when Angel and Dan came into the home, but she's a crabby old lady who just needed to feel comfy around a flock. Dan is skiddish and the least tame of the three but will eat from your hand when he's feeling brave/jealous. Angel is super friendly and will fly over and nibble at you just 'cause. They won't have that extreme bond with you, but that's probably healthier for them anyway. Keeps them from trying to mate with you or getting aggressive with other household members
Budgies are hands down the best small bird to own. SO MUCH personality in those little guys. I really love and adore them. I have had many types of birds but I always go back to budgies. I feel like they are under appreciated because they cost $20 bucks at any pet store. People tend to value things based off their worth (why I get quite angry with those who own extra-rare-exotic breeds for their own amusement and not as a rescue).
My African Grey parrot recently has been suspected with having a digestive-nervous condition in parrots called PDD caused by avian bornavirus. But interestingly enough, I recently read that Budgies seem to be immune to PDD. We've been building a large 3 storey aviary for my bird in our future home, and it seems budgies are definitely the way to go for our aviary, as we don't have to fear them contracting bornavirus from our African grey parrot (if she does end up having it). Great video!
Omg I’ve watched your channel and I’m so sorry your african grey has PDD! I’ve never heard that budgies are immune to PDD but it might be true. Again PDD is a terrible disease I’m so sorry 💔 Would you be keeping the budgies and your grey in the same aviary?
I just lost my parakeet she was 10 years old and I am devastated. Is 10 years a long life for a parakeet. She always flew around the house and walked around the house like a little puppy. She really slow down over the past year and was having difficulty climbing out of the cage like she had arthritis. She was amazingly intelligent and she only took to me and no one else. My bird would land on my dogs bed and tease them. When I was home I always let her fly around the house. I always kept my heat on 75° all winter long just to keep my bird warm. I am lost without my parakeet and out of respect I am not going to get another one for a while . She was definitely one in a million.
Your parakeet had an above average life span, however, there’s no doubt that she had an amazing life! Not many parakeets are as lucky as she was to have lived in a safe, loving, fun, and joyous environment! I’m sure she loved you just as much as you loved her. She may have passed, but the joy and memories she brought to your household are eternal. I’m sure she’s happy right now.❤️
My budgies are rescues and I would be happy to see them live 10 years! Diet is a big factor, but she also had lots of enrichment and exercise. If and when you're ready to open your heart and home to a new feathered friend, im sure you'll be giving it a happy healthy life!
Keep in mind: the ‘bin of birds’ you see in pet smart are NOT tamed and will take much more work to train than purchasing a hand fed budgie. Still doable! Good luck with Pablita Elle and good for you for educating others!!!! Ps, at the New Orleans aquarium there is a ‘bird house’ where budgies are just flying EVERYWHERE crawling into your purse or hoodies lolllll it’s awesome!
This really helped me learn more about budgies. My mom said if I lost 20 pounds she'd buy me my own pet. I chose a budgie. Budgies are a little hard to take care of, but not too much. Thank You For Posting This.
Very true facts😌 budgies are so underrated😞 I wish people new that even small birds require lots of knowledge and effort😕 (I find cockatiels much easier to look after than budgies😆) but people told me I shouldn’t get cockatiels😤 thanks so much for sharing this and spreading the word😊
Yes!!! I think cockatiels are easier too, because they’re so calm and happy to chill with you. You take such amazing care of your budgies, I wish everyone cared for them like that 💚💚
I agree on on the budgies being misunderstood I have taught mine to wave, say hello how are you, admire my beauty! I'm very cute and my sister taught them how to make d'art ng sounds for a prank but now its there favorite sound to make... oh well! But there also potty trained! Except Skylar needs a little help I have 6 budgies and there my first pets there previous owners were cruel and never kept them a name it had always been changing so we chose permanent names they never been to the vet so we took them to the vet never took a bath in 1 and a half year! So that was the first thing we did there cage wasn't small, pretty big but they would need a little bigger one so we did that to, and another thing was they didn't know how to fly and never were let out of there cage there beaks and claws never were cut! Now Skylar, Meadow, Haily, Elliot, William and Kiwi all are. We even gave them nicknames well 2 of them only want them at least Skylar-Julia and Medow-Buncha. Now they all are happier Thanks to you in training and gaining there trust so Thank you!
My mom thinks that they are tiny so they need a small cage! Or that they don’t need to go to the vet. MY MOM MAKES NO SENSE. I love my bird so much that I’m 12 and paying for the vet bills..😅
My budgies Tyler and sky where adopted and the pet store told us the saddest story about their background apparently they were locked in their cage for three years before I had gotten them the people that left them in their cage got evicted from their apartment so they just left the birds there and 2 weeks later the painters came to paint the house for the next people and found the birds they brought them to the pet store and sadly they were on death row the Humane Society just gave us their cage they were on a all seed diet and the most skittish Birds I'd ever seen they were never taken out of their cage but now that I have them they are always out of their cage except for night time they have a playpen and I'm actually giving them head scratches so budgies may take a lot of patience but you can't just give up it might have taken me it might have taken me years but I never gave up and it really paid off.
Im so happy to hear stories like this where patience and perseverance gives them a good life! I would never imagine birds going through all that trauma being brought to the point of skritches (even my tamest bird isn't a fan) but your birds are happily taking the love they deserved to get all along ❤️
I'm always so heartbroken when I hear stories about neglected pets, regardless of the kind of animal. Thanks for your excellent advice. I've never had a bird before. But I'm a terminal student and have been researching. Frankly, their little feet have always kind of freaked me out a bit, but once they warm up to you they really seem quite living. I know that may not be true for all birds which is why I'm doing so much research. I want to make sure that I can give all the care and attention they need to be strong, healthy and happy. Thanks Again! 🕊️💐💃
I've had my 2 budgies for about 9 months now and I love them very much, whenever I'm really stressed or having an anxiety attack they really help me out and calm me down. I bought them the biggest cage possible, my first budgie named mango seemed lonely so I got him (? not too sure about their gender, they're a lutino I believe so) a green budgie friend named papaya. he's been so much happier since then. they're both amazing and I don't regret getting my birds one bit 💙 I'm still working on getting them 100% tame as they usually want to go back to their cage.
@@MBH004_ Not sure how. You had them for 9 months 7 months ago and it should change by about 6-8 months old. I'd say if it's not an obvious brown by now you probably got a male but I'm not an expert.
my family is getting a budgie, and me and my mom have been watching your videos so much! your tips are so useful and my mom even built the cage on her own, im learning how to make bird toys for my budgie and im so excited to get him/her to the point I already have some names in mind
@@Makplayz I'm doing the same taking my time to make sure a budgie would be a good fit for me. Just colleting as much knowledge before I jump in. Cages are not a problem seeing that I'm a steel fabricator. Hell our outfit did lemur exhibit for the San Francisco zoo. I've looked at the cost of some of these store bought cages and I choke. Poor craftsman ship and twelve bucks max of material for a hundred and twenty bucks plus too small!!!!that's crazy ! Depending on where you live get in contact with a steel fabricator that does a lot of ADA retrofits . ( ADA. Stands for American with Disabilities Act. ) They do a lot railings and barrier work. Probably better product and less cost.
I ended up getting a male budgie from a friend who had to rehome him, and I'm pretty excited for this opportunity. So many people have been helpful during this time, you included. No kidding about their extensive care; I've learned so much more than what his original owner told me in just the few days that I've had him, and it's already starting to pay off. Baby steps...
Bless you, you wonderful woman. The continued impulse buying and general mistreatment and misinformation about budgies really messes with me. Im super glad you are educating about them properly! As an aside, are your budgies regular Americans or English hybrids? They seem quite large.
You know what is like SO COOL, I have had all of the birds you have! I have 2 budgies, Tiki and Elliot (Tiki is my profile)(I used to have more), I had a cockatiel named Himalaya (died 😥) and then my first bird was a pineapple type green cheek conure named Ramses! He was so smart, he could speak English so well and literally he could make his own sentences. YOU HAVE AMAZING BIRDIES!
My husband really wants a bird and this video helped me learn that a bird is probably as much work if not more than a dog. I was thinking of a gift for him but really a pet isn’t a gift thanks for the insight
Awesome! I miss my Budgies- they lived over 11 &12 yrs. You are so right about the care, feeding & not to mention the Vet checks! Budgies are not starter birds, for sure. They have an enduring love factor. Stay safe, stay strong-peace
My friend has a budgie and she has more personality than any other animal I've met. She's fearless, sassy, bossy, scrappy and adorable. If you can put the time in they're amazing birds and good company.
I got my first budgie when I was 6. He was a gift. It started my life long obsession with them which led to other birds and eventually me becoming a breeder when I was 18 (my first self employed job) and opening the world of birds to many other new owners.
I got a pet bird for my daughter but we’ve become best friends. He/she gives me kisses at the cage. I like talking to them for hours and they’re so darn smart!!! I’m about to put the effort in to making our new addition super comfortable.
Excellent video. For a young person, you give excellent and sound advice on budgies. Too many times people get birds without knowing what they're getting into or they pick the wrong type of bird. I always urge people to do the research, be honest and ask yourself if you REALLY want a bird.
I am 10 years old and i have 3 budgies that has been in a cage for so long and i dont even care about them and just feed them but then i have found your youtube channel and it helped me a lot thank u i appreciate it now they are well trained
now this is the kind of video i like - you dont make the video all about you, you make the video informative, to the point, without being over the top covered in makeup and making it all about you which is what a lot of the other influencers do. thank you for this video
Me who has trained my budgie in free flight in our netted aviary: This is actually really good advice to tell people!! Budgies are very very intelligent and require as much attention as even a Macaw. Look after your feather babies because they are LIVING THINGS. Take care of them ❤❤❤
Thank you for this. I’ve been researching about budgies now for a few months. I went today to buy the cadge and bark perches rather then wood a few toys as I’m going to pick the actual birds up in a few days. I bought millet and seeds and fruit shots and a spray bottle to give them a little spay in the warmer weather. We are so excited and hope we will be great parents to them. We retired last year so have loads of time for them. I found this video really helpful thank you. 🙏🏻💖
Chilli Dog 123 Thank you so much. We are a week in now and they are so beautiful and seem settled. We are going to leave them to settle another week before attempting training. May need more luck then ☺️☺️☺️
im so thankful that you help educate people on birds and how to care for them, i had a friend with 2 young budgies and they told me when they got them that they had everything they needed including a big cage, which i believed. they both died after about 2 months and when i went to their house and saw the cage it was about 10-12 inches in diameter and a round tweety bord like cage, i presume the care was bad and i never saw any videos of them out of their cage after the day they got the birds, i still feel so bad for not looking into how they were caring for them more, i am grateful for videos like these helping to prevent situations like this
I'm someone in middle school and I own a budgie, (Her names Azure). I've been studying budgies for 4 months now, and I just ran across this channel. She's been doing fantastic and I've had her for a few weeks now. I've been very patient with her, and I just taught her about perching on my finger, now we're gonna move to flying and teaching her better how to land (My sisters boyfriend has a bird, they broke their beak since they didn't know how to land. They live with us now and he's doing 10 times better!)
I have 4 budgies. I use your channel, and Alen AxP's channel for care tips. Thank you for being so helpful. and p.s. i agree with everyone, Budgies are so underrated. They are very smart and loving, and having a budgie as a pet is just as important as having any other bird.
@@skms5015 Ik it's been some time, and you might have got another one by now but you should 100% get another one if you can afford it. Also I recommend that you find a way to make him come out of the cage, whether you have to use his favorite snacks to lure him out, or even take some of his toys out of the cage and place them outside. Budgies need excercise to make sure that they don't get overweight.
I just got 2 budgies yesterday at the pet store and the store owner recommended a small / medium size cage that was clearly too small for 2 birds. This video helped me learn a lot more about budgies.
Thank you , you did that so well, I've got two , every morning I let them out of there cage , they have toys , mine like there seeds but they enjoy there veg too :)they were not babies when I got them, so even now a year and a half , they eat out of my hand, I don't ask to much from them, but think there happy I hope
I have been looking for a channel about birds but as I kept watching different videos I just skipped throughout the video unlike yours!! I found myself attentively listening and watching it from start to end. You deserve more subscribers!! ❤️❤️ thank you for sharing info 🥰
I don’t know what I’d do without your videos! I’ve had 2 cockatiels for about 4 months they’re sisters. I’m incredibly attached to them and spoil them to no ends! My girls free roam there room all day while i’m in there which I am all the time! i decided since I’m so crazy about birds to go ahead and get budgies after doing research. it’s the first morning with them and they’re already warming up so well and being so talkative! I have already started slowing putting my hands on the bars of their cage which they’re getting comfortable with already! but i’m starting off slow so that I don’t over stress them!
Soo truee bless you finally someone who actually knows what they are talking about. My friends are soo amazed that they can do so many tricks and stuff and they think that my bird is special but she is not. Love you ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡
I’ve recently decided I wanted a budgie, I watched your video reviewing what kind of birds are good beginner birds, and thought that a budgie was a perfect choice , but I’ve been taming a sugar glider, in one week it will be officially 2 months of trying to tame her, so if I got a budgie , my family kows I’ll take however long it takes.( I loved your video great job, it turned out really really well, I love that you told anyone who was watching that they do have potential, and are intelligent and are parrots)
So good to see people who genuinely care for their animals and want to share their needs. As a rabbit owner I know people have the same tendencies to just get one on a whim, put them in a cage and then never care for them properly. It's so sad that inexpensive pets are just seen as toys instead of what they actually are: living beings with an intelligence.
Have a simular story with my friend her birds die after 3 mounts but she still buys new birds her birds are on aseed diet and never out of the cage one of her bird plucked and she was saying eeewww my bird is soo gross. I am soo sad for the birds
My green cheeck is 5 years old and I give him lots of treats lots of vegetables to with tons of toys and tons of outside play time with a big cage he is truly a lovely parrot
I LOVE budgies!!! They are soo adorable, interesting, and intelligent! If you can, can you do a video about “ What you need to know before getting a cockatiel”? But if you already have a video about that then it is fine.
my dad impulse bought a budgie a few hours ago after me expressing how much I wanted a parrot every possible oppurtunity and now im studying to become its slave 😊
You know how I said I was getting a cockatiel, I found this Indian ring neck but it would be a really big commitment like any other bird but the Indian ring neck needs you like 24 7 unlike a budgie. So I was thinking getting a conure since they are sometimes easy at learning tricks and that what I’m looking for. And also your conure can take it when u go to school and that so that’s what I need. I have done heaps of research on all the birds I’ve mentioned and I’m just hoping I make the right decision. Love you so much 💕
Keira L - heaps of research? Like, how many hours on each species? It sounds like you’re flitting around, erratically , not sure of anything. I spent about 50 hours or more, just on budgies in 2019. And I’m still learning more. I have four budgerigars and they share four different sized cages. I know where my closest avian vet is. I just finished making 2.5 pounds of fresh, organic chop.
Anna Lisa I have been reasearching for the last 3 years while still convincing my mum to even let me get a bird, I have spent time and effort getting all the information I need to make my birds life the best it can have, I still have not found a bird but am making sure and taking time to make the right decision. And when you mean flitting I don’t rlly know what you mean but I’m not just going from one bird to the other I am trying to see what bird fits right in my life style!
Got it. Big wide cage, seeds for the whole day with fruits and vegetables given throughout the day, plenty of toys and perches and fresh clean water for bathing
ElleAndTheBirds fr I love them my budgie named luigi I love him and will do anything to make sure he stays healthy and happy! btw Im a new subscriber 💗💗
I now have two budgies. My girl Smokey is almost two and is such a character. She talks so much and is starting to really cuddle with me. Skye is my new little boy who I got two weeks ago. He is extremely nervous but I believe that he will be confident and tame in no time. Its all about reading your birds, love, good food, toys, and patience.
Thank you for making so many awesome videos about birds and budgies! I'm going to be getting some budgies for my 14th birthday pretty soon so I really appreciate all the awesome videos and tips for taking care of them properly🐦
I'm pretty much having a live laugh bird marathon, im trying to research about cockiteils and make a presentation, you are so helpful! I'm so excited for the day of getting a cutie!
I have done all my research on budgies but I still do think I should a year or two if I get a bird I want it to have the best life I must be committed I love your channel btw🥰🥰🥰
@@venusdonald207 it was to alert the person of what they're saying. not in "bad" way, I wanted the person to make the change because words do hold meaning. even if its not intentional.
I just purchased 4 budgies. And the pet store was actually very good in explaining everything they would need. They actually encouraged me to get a huge cage, which I did. They did give me a bag of seeds, millet sprays and pallets. The veggies and fruits I actually researched it to know what was good and bad. It's been about a week and a half they do be out the cage for at least 3 hours a day especially how me and my families schedule is. They let us know when they want out when they want back in it's very amazing. But still working on being able to hold them and tame them to trust us but I feel like it's getting there. I love your videos because on top of the info I researched and the pet store gave me I learn even more. Thanks !
Do you have any suggestions for different types of toys for them? Just wondering as I know like you said it's easy to get some plastic toys or toys that aren't as interactive and simulating.
My lot love soft wood (balsa, agave.. make sure not coated in chemicals!), shredded paper, finger traps, straws, appropriate sized beads etc. They love things they can chew but also snog lol I buy toy parts and make up my own or I buy them from Natural Bird Product Company in UK.
My first ever bird was a wild mocking bird, which we had no name for. It flew onto my fathers shoulder when he was golfing, and stayed there the whole ride home. He seemed to take a liking towards me, until one day the bottom of the cage fell out... with him on it. They never told me what happened until a while later, and I only remembered having it.
woww! This is a fantastic video! 😊 I'm glad you actually talked about them being underappreciated and also talked about the stereotypes! This is a very useful video for everyone! 😌
Mine died yesterday. Although he was playful and the medicines seemed to work, his condition suddenly got worse and he died at vet. I feel so guilty, whatever I did was not enough to save him. At least, he didn't suffer. The vet says he died peacefully. But i can't stop crying
I hope both you guys loved your birds and will always cherish your memories that you had with your beautiful birds... I know you guys may have recovered from this horrible thing we wished that would never come but I just felt the need to say this, I hope you guys are doing better now
I’ve always wanted a bird, but my family doesn’t have a lot of money, so it seems like my own birds will pass away sooner than I want them to.. I should’ve done so much more research.
Try and give them the best life you can (vegetables are inexpensive so are branches from the outdoors) depending on which country you live in different branches and flowers are great foraging toys. I am from Australia and I give mine banksias, bottlebrush branches and eucalyptus flowers/branches. If you feel you are incapable try giving your bird away to someone you know or sell it to someone responsible Its hard to admit such a thing but I wish you luck for you and your bird and that things get better :)
I’m getting 4 budgies today, my dad made a huge standing cage for them (he’s recently retired and has always loved all types of animals) excited to learn more about them, growing up we always had these birds in our household just like goldfish they were always around. Now I’m ready to give them a great life !
So glad I saw this, I almost became a victim of impulse buying a few days ago. I figured if I wanted a bird that badly I should put the work in and and read up first. I've cared for a lot of pets, ranging from horses to cats (so many cats o-o) but no one in my family has ever owned a bird. They are one of my favorite animals and owning one would be a dream to me but I know I'm very inexperienced. Do you have any suggestions on bird breeds that are good for starting bird owners? Or websites that could point me in a good direction? Thank you so much if you can! :) Blessed be.
I have 2 budgies and I agree with everything you said there treated like toys only fed seed never let out stuck in a small cage no toys that’s how my budgies used to live but you helped so much Elle and I just want to say thank you for speaking up #budgieawarness #teambudgie #budgie #engagednotcaged
a budgie flew into my toilet like 10 mins ago and i’m trying to quickly learn how to help it 😭 what the heck do i do idk where this bird came from but if i let it out i think it’ll die any tips on how to raise it?
Had a couple when I was 8yrs old and we didn’t have the internet like we do now, so, we had to depend on the pet store for info. We didn’t have a huge library since it was a poor small town but we did what we could for them. They lived for 5yrs. Wished it was longer and had better advice. They make great pets for kids with responsible adults.
These facts are true because I did have a budgie before. I'm so sad because my sisters pulled the feathers off my old budgie and that frightened him.. I'm getting 2 birds but how am I going to take care of it if I'm not sure if my sisters are going to pull the feathers again?.. I think I might get a key and put the budgie in my room.. then whenever I get out I'll lock it.
I’ve always love parrots and loved them since I was a kid. My parents would never let me get one but I’m starting to learn about them to see if I’m still willing to once I graduate.
Wow! Outstanding job with this video! Thank you for being a voice for the little guys. I am so excited to collaborate with you tomorrow. 💚

Budgies are the most popular parrot, yet so underrated! They're "popular" because they're easy to exploit and cheap to not care for, and easy to replace! They are SO intelligent and deserve so much better!
Yeah! I have 2 budgies(i think they're like 4 months, i had to do some research tho)
And i was able to teach them to step up on the second day!(only one of them cuz the other is *very* shy), its sad how most people get mad and abuse their budgies is because they don't talk and act like the ones on TH-cam.
Very accurate

I think we are giving our budgie Stormy the best life we can. He has a large cage, plenty of toys, likes seed, pellets, fruit and vegetables. He sleeps on us sometimes in the day and every day he sits on my shoulder while I'm working, chattering and whistling. He is so amazing and loved and I think he's happy :)

My mom just brought a bird and she doesn’t understand that they need a lot of care she think you can just feed and keep it locked I’m a cage
Yeah mine are the same too scared to come out of the cage
Drives me up a wall, just because its a low cost creature doesn't mean you should treat it like dirt :(
I don't get how anyone can ever buy any pet without putting any time or research into keeping it alive and happy for as long as possible!
Love your videos by the way :D
I’m planning on getting a parakeet soon but is it ok for a parakeet to be in a 36 x 24 ? And can I feed him cockatiel pellets
Nu

Oh no will my birdie forget me too???🥺 even though i meet both of them daily 😥
Guess that's why it's called bird brains🤣😂. But good tip, I got two budgies.

That is true! Thank you!
I love that place, I’ve been there and one flew on my dad and he freaked out
Omg I want to go there!
most birds in pet shops aren't tamed, i got a conure and he took 5 years just to tame
so is the bin of birds also a good option?

Budgies need excercise to make sure that they don't get overweight.
Wannabe Genius it comes out of his cage and he throws his toys outside of his cage and he flies around. Thank you 😊
I just got 2 budgies yesterday at the pet store and the store owner recommended a small / medium size cage that was clearly too small for 2 birds.
Thank you! You’re doing great with them 💚
I have been looking for a channel about birds but as I kept watching different videos I just skipped throughout the video unlike yours!! I found myself attentively listening and watching it from start to end. You deserve more subscribers!! ❤️❤️ thank you for sharing info 🥰
I SO agree with you on that first fact you mentioned. My budgies are so hecking smart.
Thank you for this video. Insightful. It’s really a shame how pet stores treat these animals- I agree with you- budgies deserve a better life.
So many good key points made. You went over pros and cons of not only owning budgies, but owning a bird in general. Keep up the good work!! 😊😊🦜
Thank you so much!! ☺️
Love you ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡
Thank you so much ❤️
I’ve recently decided I wanted a budgie, I watched your video reviewing what kind of birds are good beginner birds, and thought that a budgie was a perfect choice , but I’ve been taming a sugar glider, in one week it will be officially 2 months of trying to tame her, so if I got a budgie , my family kows I’ll take however long it takes.( I loved your video great job, it turned out really really well, I love that you told anyone who was watching that they do have potential, and are intelligent and are parrots)
AWWWWWw! Live and Laugh with birds! :3 so cute!
Animal Lover yep lol! Happy birds
Poor birds 💔
Angela Avramoska unfriend her immediately or call animal control
please call an animal control centre immediately! this should not be happening!
@@gabagaba7144 I have tried before, but the animal needs to be in a near death condition for them to do anything about it. Its so sad D:
Chilli Dog 123 my cousin would do the same thing so I ended up buying them from him and I’ve given them a much better life.
My green cheeck is 5 years old and I give him lots of treats lots of vegetables to with tons of toys and tons of outside play time with a big cage he is truly a lovely parrot
Aww I love budgies too & yes sooo sad how neglected they r. Such smart and spunky birds. Great video dear. 💕
Thank you so much! Exactly 💕
Awww i hope all the little budgies are in budgie heaven with all the toys, food and care they want!
I LOVE budgies!!! They are soo adorable, interesting, and intelligent! If you can, can you do a video about “ What you need to know before getting a cockatiel”? But if you already have a video about that then it is fine.
I’m 11 and I reasearched so much about budgies and I am ready to be dedicated thanks to your vids
So ADORABLE! Even the Budgies are so Cute too!
Thank you so much for the love!!
my dad impulse bought a budgie a few hours ago after me expressing how much I wanted a parrot every possible oppurtunity and now im studying to become its slave 😊
Omg same it’s watching the video skiddishly with me
You know how I said I was getting a cockatiel, I found this Indian ring neck but it would be a really big commitment like any other bird but the Indian ring neck needs you like 24 7 unlike a budgie.
You can take it to school
Anna Lisa I have been reasearching for the last 3 years while still convincing my mum to even let me get a bird, I have spent time and effort getting all the information I need to make my birds life the best it can have, I still have not found a bird but am making sure and taking time to make the right decision. And when you mean flitting I don’t rlly know what you mean but I’m not just going from one bird to the other I am trying to see what bird fits right in my life style!
Kameryn Newman no
Got it.
Big wide cage, seeds for the whole day with fruits and vegetables given throughout the day, plenty of toys and perches and fresh clean water for bathing
awww so cute AHHHH ❤
Budgies are the best 🥰

I have done all my research on budgies but I still do think I should a year or two if I get a bird I want it to have the best life I must be committed I love your channel btw🥰🥰🥰
start off by calling animals by "them and they" its belittling and objectifying to say "it".
@@Manvir. please don't gatekeep in that way I'm sure it wasn't intentional and I do get what your saying but that's still unnecessary
@@venusdonald207 it was to alert the person of what they're saying. not in "bad" way, I wanted the person to make the change because words do hold meaning. even if its not intentional.
@@Manvir. listen I get that but still try to be kind to all peeps and try not to sound as rude next time by explaining yourself fully
@@venusdonald207 no. now go live your flowery life full of love and light. what you just said made me want to vomit.
You can buy some made out of safe wood, paper, crinkle paper, vine, etc. Planet Pleasures and Parrot Joy are nice.
Thanks so much! Budgies are so amazing, I wish people would realize their potential 🥰
My budgie unexpectedly passed away.... We burried him today :( Fly high my best friend...😭
I know you guys may have recovered from this horrible thing we wished that would never come but I just felt the need to say this, I hope you guys are doing better now
@McFortnite stop being an insensitive psycho
@McFortnite you are the one who is acting like people's beloved pet parrots dying is a joke
I am planning to buy a bird and am bingeing these videos before getting mine home. Thankyou for all the information.
I’ve always wanted a bird, but my family doesn’t have a lot of money, so it seems like my own birds will pass away sooner than I want them to.. I should’ve done so much more research.
aw! maybe show them this video. if you think you aren’t stable enough to handle a budgie, than please sell it :). it’s for their own good
Try and give them the best life you can (vegetables are inexpensive so are branches from the outdoors) depending on which country you live in different branches and flowers are great foraging toys. I am from Australia and I give mine banksias, bottlebrush branches and eucalyptus flowers/branches.
If you feel you are incapable try giving your bird away to someone you know or sell it to someone responsible
Its hard to admit such a thing but I wish you luck for you and your bird and that things get better :)
I’m getting 4 budgies today, my dad made a huge standing cage for them (he’s recently retired and has always loved all types of animals) excited to learn more about them, growing up we always had these birds in our household just like goldfish they were always around. Now I’m ready to give them a great life !
Oh boy, you should see my two budgies that I hand-reared. They can fly now and they are free to fly around the house and they are always on my head😂
You can tell that you truly love birds and are very compassionate.
You are awesome sorry I'm late I can't believe that you're over 1k also Kermit always Deserves to be in the video
Thank you for being here!! Lol Kermit 😂
I really want a budgie but my mom says i need to be fully researched and know exactly what I need. Your channsl helps so much!
Pawsome video love your channel so so much! So informative!
Thank you so much! 💜
We have 6 budgies ,4 Cocketels, 1 Princess Parrot, 2 cats and 2 dog's the birds all get along and love how they bond with each other
So glad I saw this, I almost became a victim of impulse buying a few days ago.
I have 2 budgies and I agree with everything you said there treated like toys only fed seed never let out stuck in a small cage no toys that’s how my budgies used to live but you helped so much Elle and I just want to say thank you for speaking up #budgieawarness #teambudgie #budgie #engagednotcaged
a budgie flew into my toilet like 10 mins ago and i’m trying to quickly learn how to help it 😭 what the heck do i do idk where this bird came from but if i let it out i think it’ll die
any tips on how to raise it?
This is good to know!☺❤
Thank you so much! ☺️
I’m so happy I might get two budgies for Christmas! **I did all of my research and I am very patient**
Sister i am from Pakistan. I am sure you will love the parrots clip funny one i made from My own house. Really interesting. You are a true bird lover.
Hello all the way from Riverside California just want to say I love your videos keep up the good work much love
Love your TH-cam channel I’m actually thinking about getting a budgie🐦🐦🐦🐦
Thank god I'm watching this because after quarantine I'm getting some budgies
congrats 🎈🎊 i’m getting one to!!
I may be getting a budgie for my birthday!! Which is in 12 days.

Well I just got a budgie today. Thanks for the stuff about budgies. I’ll make sure get a understanding of budgie and make sure it’s taken care of
One should use these tiny cages only when you take your budgie to vet
