I saw a podcast that Stallone's daughters have and they had their dad as a guest. He said that Talia Shire was his favorite leading lady of all his movies and it really shows ❤❤Mickie is a great character. If yall haven't seen Grumpy Old Men Burgess Merideth plays in it. It's hilarious ❤❤
That's awesome! Yes, Grumpy Old Men is on our list! So many movies to catch up! (:
love these afterthoughts videos mike. you dont even get out of breath walking and talking. maybe we'll see you in the ring one of these days. stallone discovered mr.t., who was working as a bodyguard for former champion, leon spinks. stallone felt that mr.t had a look he wanted to feature. mr.t had difficulty with fight choreography (you'll notice he used flailing hook-shots exclusively). stallone eventually let him swing away in the only manner natural to him, and he had to work around mr.t's limitations. this film's plot has a lot to do with stallone's real life. the first 2 rocky films and "rambo" had brought him great success, and then came writers block. rocky's journey in the 3rd installment parallels stallone's journey in 80-82 getting his hunger back. while rocky 4 and its cold-war themed plot were voted "most 80s movie of the 80s", the presence of hulk hogan, mr. t. and his mohawk, a video arcade, and of course the song "eye of the tiger" make this one feel more 80s to me. i was, and still am, sad to see mick die. that character is among my favorites of all-time,, and stallone wrote for him brilliantly ( "wrestlers can cause a variety of damage", "clubber will kill ya to death", or in rocky 2 "you know what it brings? it brings flies").
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on that and thanks for your kind words and the extra info about Mr. T, etc. Interesting stuff! Btw, you'll see a little boxing montage of myself when I do the "Afterthoughts" video for R6. I just found some old clips the other day. ((:
That's a wonderful breakdown. Rocky didn't really believe in himself he needed to confront his fear but I think there's a reason he no longer had confidence. Rocky never won with talent, speed, power, or skill he won with grit and manliness. I think deep down in his heart he knew he didn't put in the work he was no longer willing to sacrifice like before and I think that's why he threw the helmet at the sculpture he didn't feel like he deserved it but he probably didn't feel that way because he knew at least during some moments he wasn't the hero. He identifies with grittiness and Manliness and he knew he subtly let his Edge slip. I think this makes the scene with Adrian hit really good because she confronts him on many levels with loving encouragement
Yes, 100%. Nicely said! Thanks! (:
I would have awarded myself the Oscar of Life for the very inspired performances of these great actors.
Thank you both for this third round with three times more emotions.
Thank you so much for watching along with us. Round 4 is in the making! (:
@@BossMovieReactions 🥊💪😉👍
Another great segment. I totally agree with your Clubber Lang assessment. What also contributed to this being a great sequel were the character arcs for Apollo (foe to friend) and Adrian (timid to "tough").
Yes, these character arcs are paying off big time! Thanks for watching! (:
Great job, Mike. Looking forward to 4. Thank you -
Hi Matt, yes, R4 is coming! (:
Really do appreciate the work and thought I see you put into your wrap up Mike. I've only seen one other TH-camr do that and it's admirable. It's much more of a commitment than the sofa lounging reactor who hits it and quits it. 😆 I liken it to the difference between a weekend warrior (National Guard) and a full time Marine. Not that I don't appreciate the way those guys can push a blood drive, stack sandbags or organize a food donation. 😏 So Oorah brother. 😎👍
Haha, thank you, GBM. I appreciate the "Oorah." Also been in the Swiss army back then... (:
@@BossMovieReactions Ahh.. I knew it. Some things get ingrained and you take them with you. Respect 🫡🇨🇭
@@gingerbreadman1969 Thank you, sir!! (:
could not have said it better myself lol, wonderful comments , and so right,
Thanks for that, Sean! (:
I remember Ali saying 'I wished I'd thought of that' when he saw Apollo being introduced into the ring as 'master of disaster.' As for Rocky IV, I don't want to spoil it, as I've said before, I saw Rocky IV on release at the cinema. I've never experienced anything like it either before or since.
Yeah, "Master of Disaster" is a great name. I'm currently editing R4, so stay tuned! (:
I always get slightly upset when people say they hate Paulie. As a HUGE Rocky fan, it's clear to me why he's like he is. If you notice in the background of Rocky I, in Adrian and Paulie's house, there are photos of Paulie in the Navy. It's never made clear, but his story is hidden away in the background. A beautifully hidden layer to his character. This leads me to believe that he's bitter because he served for his country and came home to nothing, to be forgotten about. I get that. I love his character. Deep down he absolutely adores Rocky.
Yeah, Paulie has grown on me as well, as you probably can tell from my "Afterthoughts" video. Nice touch with the Navy picture which I have not noticed. From reading the synopsis of Rambo, it sounds very similar to what you have described about Paulie, you know, coming home from the war to be forgotten about. One day we'll react to that as well. Thx! (:
Great reaction and after thoughts as usual. I’m glad you guys are knocking this series out back to back. I’m interested in what’s next after Rocky. I’d love to see you both get back into some comedies. Airplane, The Heartbreak Kid, Tropic Thunder, Say It Isn’t So, and Team America would be real fun ones.
Hi James, yes, we'll do some comedies for sure. I added your suggestions to our list! (:
Adrain, great character growth. Rocky & Apollo, one of greatest "bromances" ever. Rocky & Apollo are great example of masculine friendship. Another great "masculine friendship" movie is "Thunderbolt & Lightfoot" w/Clint Eastwood & Jeff Bridges. I know Talia Shire's "Godfather" character is mentioned below. I'd be surprised if u haven't watched Godfather movies. If u haven't & willing to on TH-cam, it wld be a treat for your viewers (talk abt writing, story, characters & classic).
Thanks, Derek. I added "Thunderbolt & Lightfoot" to our movie list. The "Godfather" is also on our list. We just talked about it yesterday. That sucker is over 3h long, but we'll consider it in the future. Thx! (:
Don't know what's going on with me trying to comment today. Just wanted to thank you for your analysis of the Rocky series and other movies. I've been a fan of it since a kid. Your critical eye is making me appreciate it even more. I wish you all the best!
That's great to hear. Thank you so much for that! All the best to you as well! (:
A little trivia because you love Talia Shire´s (Adrian) acting: did you recognize that she´s also Connie Corleone in The Godfather? (Vito´s daughter and Michael´s sister) 🙂
Hi, Gerald. I didn't know, but someone pointed it out a while ago. Thx! (:
As I mentioned in your main reaction, if you stick with the films through the Creed movies, you will learn who won the third bout between Apollo and Rocky. Once again, thank you for another terrific reaction.
Yes, people keep telling me... I am curious as a cat... (:
Thank you for your thoughts.
My pleasure! (:
Hey Mike! I agree with your opinion that Clubber Lang’s character is very dangerous which makes Rocky Balboa the most dangerous opponent for Clubber Lang, but eventually the right man took down the wrong man. I wish you can invite Jessica on your afterthoughts video so that she could express her opinions after watching the movie.
Yeah, you know, I was originally planning to have "Afterthoughts" videos from both of us, but we can hardly manage to keep up with what we're doing right now. Believe me, I would enjoy watching Jessica's "Afterthoughts" videos just as much as you! (:
Yes, Thanks a lot. By the way how many miles did you walk?
@@BastyDYmas Haha, well, I don't exactly know, but I usually walk between 45-60 minutes, every day, and little workouts in between. (:
@@BossMovieReactions Good for you.
When I see reactors with audio only in one ear I always feel like they're missing the full experience. I think all you need is some sort of splitter to be able to use two pairs of earphones. Either way, love your reactions.
Yeah, we had some problems syncing two earbuds, but I'm not even sure if it makes a big difference. But it's noted. Thanks! (:
If you like Mickey in these films... you will really like him in the "Grumpy Old Men" movie. He's quite the comedian. You should definitely put Grumpy Old Men on your schedule. Great Review!!
Yes, "GOM" is definitely on our list! Thx! (:
Rocky 4 "IF HE DIES HE DIES"
Yeah, how terrifying was that! I'm currently editing R4. (:
@@BossMovieReactions As a 14yr old kid in 85 It's a unforgettable powerful line
@@klove5765 Yes, I can only imagine!! O-:
Mike when Mr T took his mother to the premiere of this film she was absolutely appalled and disgusted during the scene where he tries to seduce Adrian at the stairs near the statute scene
Haha, yeah, I've read that on some trivia page. Funny! Thanks for sharing! (:
Hey Mike just was wondering when Rocky IV is coming
Hi there, yeah, I'm working on it as we speak. I've been doing nothing else for the last two days but trying to get that video past the copyright process. I'm currently uploading version ten or so. If it goes through the video will be up in a matter of minutes, Stay tuned! (:
@@BossMovieReactionsthank you so much 😅
I pity the fool who doesnt like this movie
Haha, agreed!! (:
