Thanks Mike for showing us a bit of your private life with your boxing clips. It was a beautiful way to finish off your thoughts on an awesome franchise. I hope you definitely continue on with Creed, it is so important to the Rocky story.
If you get the dvd there is an alternate ending in the special features. Also were you aware there is a more recent version of Rocky 4 called Rocky vs. Drago? It has scenes not in the original.
@@stephenlord7316 Hi there, yes, I just saw the alternative ending this morning on TH-cam. Very interesting, although the original ending is better, imo, but it was nice to see! Thx! Also, yes, I was made aware of the R4 director's cut. I'd like to see it one day! Thanks for sharing! (:
Go Mike🥊! Now you know about us, Rocky family. It's inspiring! It brings out our thrive to pass being an underdog. The soundtrack is an amazing workout jam🎶. Hearts on fire, "Time will not allow you to stand still, no, silence breaks the heart❤ & bends the will.
Exactly. The film ends when Rocky leaves the ring. As he walks out of the arena, the fans are thanking Stallone and he is expressing his appreciation for the fans and their support of the franchise which changed his life.
I watched the movie reaction and I have to say I've cried like a baby probably because of my own stuff in the basement. I'm so happy I have found your channel and I was able to rewatch this movies with you guys and relive those emotions with you!!! Stay safe and keep up the great work your doing❤❤❤
What a movie balboa is ,,truly my favourite after 2 ,a love how it makes is cry after the pic an he doe a chin up in garden,,,are BOYY ,its just so emotional ❤
Loved the idea that Stallone and Rocky are one and the same in that final scene, I never saw it that way until you mentioned it and after going back for another look it hit me straight away.. Great observation and review!
Mike's analysis also made me think that Rocky at the end of the first movie morphed with the character of the last movie and fight. Both only wanted to gain respect. They both did by going the distance with the champion. Both were elated at the end, but Rocky in the first movie was elated because he showed he could do it, in the second be showed he could still do it.
You hit the nail on the head - for the FIRST and ONLY time in the franchise, you see Stallone AND Rocky. We know the franchise means the world to him and it shows. It's a beautiful moment. I love the little point at the heavens to Adrian.
I've tried to watch your afterthoughts 3 different times and kept getting called away. Finally I got to watch them in their entirety. First, I really appreciate your unabashed praise of Sly Stallone's acting and improvisation ability. He is truly unpretentious about who he is and it translates into authentic and sympathetic characters. I'm with you again in regard to this installment having a similar feel to Rocky 1. I remember your caveat that R1 was certainly a love story but just as important it was about self worth. That theme showed up in Little Marie's reluctance to be the hostess at the restaurant (Rocky schmoozed her perspective appropriately). It showed up in Mason Dixon's frustration in not getting his due recognition. Rocky's demeanor ultimately had it's positive influence and Dixon finished the fight and prevailed despite having broken his hand. A broken hand usually spells the end of a fight. So, Dixon ended up respecting Rocky, gained some self respect and ended up a more sympathetic character himself. (Stallone doesn't need an actual villain in order for Rocky to be the sympathetic hero). Finally, Rocky's (and Stallone's) love of animals might obscure the significance of him taking Steps to pick out and name a dog. Think about Butkus (the dogs name is an homage to the legendary Chicago Bear linebacker, Dick Butkus) in R1 & R2. A big dog in his prime...kind of like Rocky. Then in Rocky Balboa, he's pointing out to Steps that there's a lot of good mileage left on a dog that's easy to overlook or take for granted. It's a nice parallel or allusion to Rocky himself. He might not be a championship contender anymore, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have anything left in the tank. Anyway, like you, I appreciate the acting and writing, not only for the profound bits that jump out at you, but also for all the nuances that make this such a great franchise. Till next time...adieu! PS: The very first scene in Rocky 1 takes place in a church basement. It's a church sponsored athletic/boxing club. Hence the image of Jesus. All a testament to Stallone's willingness to include faith in Rocky's attributes.
YES, thanks for sharing your thoughts on my afterthoughts. I agree with all your additional statements. Btw, I had the same thought when Rocky was talking about Punchy having a lot of good mileage in him, yes, he was talking about himself!! Happy to share all that with you! Cheers! (:
Wonderful reaction and great afterthoughts, as always. Please be aware that Creed 1 and Creed 2 are basically Rocky 7 and Rocky 8. You will love them. Stallone got a Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination for Creed 1. And Creed 2 holds a major surprise and a wonderful ending. 🙃
@Mister__Jey They said basically not to be taken literally. Sly co-wrote creed 2, and he wrote some of the dialogue. It's his creation. Rocky his story continues from where Balboa ends. So it's basically not really.
Love the insight on the light bulb scene. When I watched it I wondered if it was adlibbed, not because it seemed out of place, but it seemed like such a natural reaction.

Ya right to say that way coz rocky did sya that in the arena ,but he turned into stalone 😂,whe love the man hes genuine ,and that madasqare garden ,,,everyone of us is a rocky Fan
Given Stallone was trained in Stanislavski he has the emotional memory of 30 years of Rocky as a character. In Meisner technique, an actor would put the most emphasis on "being in the moment", not inventing sense memory. But here Stallone does not have to invent sense memory, he REALLY has these memories IN CHARACTER. When Paulie screams "YOU gave me a watch" he is referencing the watch Rocky gave him in Rocky 2, that Paulie later threw the "stinkin ex lax watch" on the ground in Rocky 3 in the jailhouse scene. He is remembering little Marie from 30 years ago As Rocky. He is having ACTUAL sense memories in character. This only comes from the acting confidence that 30 years in the same character that YOU are writing brings. This is acting mastery, only time brings this type of relaxation of one's "instrument".
Very well said, my friend. I assume you have studied acting yourself? I personally love "Meisner," and it can be combined with "Stanislavski" as well for certain moments, etc. Thanks for sharing! (:
@@BossMovieReactions Yes I studied acting along with film school. Meisner is usually best for film work because everything is shot out of sequence for budget reasons, so you don't get the type of momentum of theater. You only have the moments to be connected to. Stallone talked about this in his Actors studio interview, you should check it out. He was saying how it's a myth that top actors are always obsessed and connected to the work. He said working with Deniro and other big stars, they are on their cell phone all the time like anyone, talking to their agent, etc. so when the director yells "action" they have to rely on technique and connecting to the moment, and this is where Meisner works.
@@BossMovieReactions If you were in a Meisner class and your "situation" was a couple watching Rocky it would be no different. Your acting training is allowing you to "respond" in a real way to your emotions and "react" to your partner in a real way, even though you're not "acting". That's the strength of the channel. Good luck.
Hey Mike, crossing Wyoming and enjoyed passing the time with you and Jess concluding the Rocky series. The first is, your right, Dixon breaking his hand in the 2nd rd does two things.. one, like you said, it makes the fight more believable. But two, it allows for Dixon to truly benefit from this fight as well as Rocky. Great writing, think about it. Dixon was never a bad guy. He was just a champion who was a victim of not having any good competition, who was never able to overcome any real adversity. Remember his trainer giving him that great talk earlier about his moment would come and he would be tested, he'd get the opportunity to show the world his heart. You also heard the detractors before the fight saying this fight was a lose lose proposition for him. Only by breaking his hand and overcoming Balboa (who was old but everyone could see still had that heart and could hit like a truck) would he face that adversity he needed AND show the world he had the goods (Rocky was sincere at the end of the fight I think when he said "your a great champion") The other take away I can appreciate now that I'm a little older myself, is Stallone wrote this from the experience of life. He wouldn't have had the perspective he does now that he's older to write some of the powerful, wise, reflective and often heartbreaking scenes that were in this movie. Hello GBM, we're happy to see you here! Yes, you're making some great points regarding Dixon, etc. Great insights. Be well, and drive safely!! Cheers! (:
You should look up the movie Copland. Considered by many Sylvester Stallone's best acting performance. It has Robert Deniro as well. I was in the 8th grade when Rocky came out in the theaters. A huge influence in my life at the time and led to me eventually spending some time in the ring. I've watched each movie on my own multiple times and recently I've watched quite a few react to the franchise. Your and your wife's reactions are by far my favorite.
On your point about Sly and Rocky becoming one, interesting you said that because I've always felt that, but somehow it didn't really fully register. I think at the time I felt like this was the end of an epic era. But you're right. Sly probably felt the same as Rocky did in that moment. The CREED movies are good. Probably didn't need Rocky in it, but I think he was just there to shepherd in the new franchise until it stood in its own.
People trash Rocky 5 and it's hard to argue that it is not the worst but I feel it is so important. The storyline of losing his wealth, sets the stage for the success of this film and Creed IMO. Rocky is about a man who cares most about family and friendships, and proving his self worth not the mansion, cars and motorcycles. The 3 best films: 1, 2 and Balboa have Rocky living a modest life in the old neighborhood and I don't think it is a coincidence.
Sly had a hard time getting this movie made cause noone studio would back it. I rember reading a small part from the script in 2003 and noone believed it would ever get made. I watched it in theaters of course by myself and loved it. It's definitely the final Rocky movie , yes he is in Creed but Creed is not a Rocky movie.

I saw in the movie watch comments that you did watch the deleted scene I told you about. It was good wasn’t it? The only thing you missed in your personal video is the part where you drank a glass of eggs. lol. Take care my friend and see you on the next one.
Yeah, the deleted scene was GREAT! Oh, yes, you're right, the drinking eggs-thing. I actually had a clip like that (someone told me to do it in a web-series a long time ago), that would've been nice to include! LOL. Thx for watching! (:

Yeah, the studio didn't want him to do the Rocky Balboa movie, but Sly finally succeeded. And it was worth it! I haven't seen Creed yet, but I agree already, Rocky is Rocky and Creed is Creed. We'll be watching C1 soon... Thanks for being part of our journey! (:
@@BossMovieReactions creed 1 and 2 are fantastic. You will enjoy them all but especially Creed 1 and 2, Creed 2 is a Rocky 4 sequel in my opinion.
@@Out-Cast75 Good to know. Thx! (:
I'm glad you liked it ❤❤❤
Loved it!! (:
Creed is definitely worth a watch someone is already mentioned it up for me Creed 2 is just as good as any Rocky movie
Yeah, we'll be checking out C1 soon... (:
I saw in the movie watch comments that you did watch the deleted scene I told you about. It was good wasn’t it? The only thing you missed in your personal video is the part where you drank a glass of eggs. lol. Take care my friend and see you on the next one.
Yeah, the deleted scene was GREAT! Oh, yes, you're right, the drinking eggs-thing. I actually had a clip like that (someone told me to do it in a web-series a long time ago), that would've been nice to include! LOL. Thx for watching! (:
I just found out that Burt Young not only was a pro boxer (17-0) but was a sparring partner for George Chuvalo who fought Ali, Frazier, Foreman etc. th-cam.com/users/shorts3fy-T8ps81o?si=0QwN7eUCqrkk7TAC

Hi there, well, I haven't seen Creed yet, and I don't think I can make a list of the Rocky movies. I have been thinking about it for a long time, but each movie is so special for different reasons (and the same reasons as well.) I mean, I can try:
Okay, I tried several times... I made a list and then deleted it again. Sorry, I'm a Libra and we sometimes can't decide. I'll give it some more thought down the road... (:

Oh, yeah, I have heard so much about BTTF... Can't wait to watch it! (:
Nice job, Folks. My least favorite, but it's hard to make 6, and keep them real. He was in his 60s when filming this. Just not believable.
Thanks for watching! (:
