    Sasha the man. This guy is a genius. He made 600hp from a naturally aspirated VQ (just think about that for a second) then he's integrating a hybrid system into it. I don't know many people who understand both EVs and ICE's as well as this guy.

      Still has room in the bay for turbos or a supercharger as well. Makes what a twin turbo Z does while still NA which is a testament to how awesome the hybrid conversion is on its own...but there's still so much power left on the table.

    Congrats to Sasha on a great season of record setting! He is definitely the man that can pull off a hybrid setup and take the 350Z to a new level of bonkers. Looking forward to more videos as the build progresses further into maniacal time attack territory.

    He is just a fucking maniac. The best part of it that he actually drives this car close to the limit and knows her like his five fingers. Plus to that, his natural charisma and serenity just do their job and someday I hope to see Sasha in the F1 or some kind of that circles.

  • @JBoulter11

    1 : 09 at TMP is literally fucking insane. The footage of this car driving is literally like watching some F1 level driving. So impressed with this build. The idea that now it's going to be FASTER is insane to think about.

    Would love to see Sasha dive into the details of this. Like how does the electric motor replace the clutch/flywheel?

    • @wparsons
      @wparsons 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      My guess is it'll shut down the gas engine when stopping/stopped, and use pure electric to get rolling, then just add fuel/spark to the gas engine once rolling and it'll fire up.

    • @rhubarbpie2027
      @rhubarbpie2027 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I'm interpreting this correctly, they will work in tandem under load, but when off throttle the motor assembly will behave passively allowing a "disengagement" of sorts.

    • @lwd107
      @lwd107 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@rhubarbpie2027 Yes, but the engine output shaft is still mechanically connected to the transmission. They have to be using the electric motor to start the engine then they kill it when coming to a complete stop.

      @@wparsons so does it mean it has similar performance to a Mclaren P1 or the electric motors work like some sort of boost for the car!

      @@sel508 not sure I understand the question... but in both cars the electric motor is adding power. I'm not sure of the specifics of where the electric motor physically sits in the McLaren, but it still has clutches for the gearbox (double clutch 7 speed).

    • @caboose22320
      @caboose22320 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @F Malik he is saying this car wouldn’t pass emissions, so you wouldn’t be able to get tags on your car, so you can’t get it registered. But if Nissan took the idea (blueprint) they would obviously install high performance cats and detune/get more fuel efficiency wherever necessary.

      Vegaspsycho most hybrid systems I’ve seen like the Vonnen Shadow drive (has a similar style motor between the engine and trans) used the motor to also crank the engine to start. I’m interested in seeing if this could work for a Jeep/truck but I’m sure an STI would take a similar amount of custom fab to get it to bolt up the trans and engine and everything else to control it

  • @TheRealFobican
    @TheRealFobican 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can be a coincidence but funnily enough I had a similar idea to this for a while with the exception of attaching the clutch to the electric motor that replaces the flywheel and starter motor instead of replacing the entire flywheel/clutch parts between the engine and gearbox as components of the drivetrain in a car.

    It’s better to have a PHEV over an EV, well EVs are great for the environment, but there not great cars for power outages for days, and auto brands should be going PHEV rather than EV only just because we still need gas for emergencies, and power outages aren’t gonna shorten sooner, and brands need to improve the electric range in their plug in hybrids so that way they might have an even longer range than electric only.
