Wish i had known this when i got my CM450E, it ran like a dog with 2 legs, lol, went through the carbs a few times and don't remember seeing those plugs but that was only one issue, the accelerator pump diaphragm was shot to hell, i ended up putting 2 out of a set of 4 carbs from a 1990 900cc Kawasaki Ninja , just put a 1/8 inch spacer under the needle and a free breathing air filter in the airbox , the top if the airbox was also modified to make it flow lots more air, also a free flow muffler assembly and she now goes like crazy, a friend has a stock one and if his is a 450 then mine acts more like a 650,lol.
That model bike had a service bulletin from honda. The needle should be swapped for a 61c. Makes a big difference. Checkout the vintage honda twins forum. Thanks for posting.
Ill have to look at the one that came in the kit, the taper seemed the same for the most of it, just was longer and was afraid of it running too lean WOT. I also learned a while ago, change one thing at a time. Thanks for the heads up!
@@robinsonmotorsports9976 10 4. The taper makes all the difference in the world how these machines run at lower rpm. U are right they run lean naturally. Most people go up one size on the 2 jets to cure that. Of course if u go pods ur back to square one. But with your breather box I'd go 61c needles and up one size on the jets to say 78 and 112. I got a sparckmoto mosfet rec reg and put on my 82 cm450a. Huge difference. It charges over 14.5 without it ruining batteries. Also go an ignitech cdi with proper advance curves. And a gm d555 or d576 coil. Mine is 555. It doubles your voltage from 15kv to around 30. Next up is swapping out to a gl1000 stator
Solid info! This is my Wives bike and I traded a Quad I had like $500 into for it. I just wanted to get it running so she can register it and go from there. It seemed a little weak off the bottom and still needs some ironing out but its rideable and inspectable now so more to follow! If you check out my channel I have a few more projects, wiring an LED squadron to a YZ125 and building a YZ250 I am fitting into a modern frame, spoiler, there will be a e-start on that and a lighting coil!

@@StoVol70 Did the Ignitech cdi ignition make much difference to performance?
