When I saw the "forbidden fruit " bottle, my eyes instantly became teary. My father brought 2 bottles of it while on a short road trip when I was about 7-8 years old. Said would open it when myself and my sister were 21. I was 71 in September, they are still in my parent's cupboard.

The black fireproof box is what’s known as a Deed Box. They were originally fashioned to hold the deeds to your land and home/property, and any other important documents you wouldn’t want damaged, such as your birth and marriage certificates, hence why the box is designed to be indestructible. Old fashioned deeds used to be large and beautifully illustrated- not the A4 printouts we, or rather our solicitors, get now.

My father was a pharmacist...I have so many old antique bottles, labeled in gold with the writing in Latin. I have an old scale where they used to weigh the ingredients before compounding and mixing. Most of the items are over 200 years old. He 'inherited' them with the pharmacy he bought a long time ago. They were simply stored in the attic!

Great haul! I recently was in San Francisco and thought thrifting would be fun. I was not disappointed. I too love old books and found a set of ten tiny, 3”x4”, complete works of Shakespeare. They are dated 1887 and have an inscription hand scripted in that beautiful cursive of the day, from the person gifting them to a friend. How cool is that? I just love that when I touch them I can feel the spirit of every person who ever opened the cover. I love the smell of vintageness (if such a word exists). The even sweeter part? They only cost $.75 a piece. So for a whopping $7.50, I bought all ten of the treasures. And I love that you treasure things like that. Love, love, love your videos.

And since you're adding things to your apothecary I want you to know that I have a cool trick that works every time. Instead of filling your bottles with dyed liquid which eventually will create a layer of sediment when the die separates out, fill your containers with homemade slime. The color is vibrant anyone who picks it up is super horrified by how it moves, and if it dries out completely it's still looks bizarre which is a selling point!

If you're going to use the fireproof heavy black box for important, hard-or-impossible-to-replace documents, please make sure they are sealed in something waterproof too! If they're protected from a fire but then not protected from whatever is used to put the fire out, what is the point? x'D You might also be able to DIY your own rubbery seal for the box itself. It looks like it latches pretty tight, but "pretty tight" and "waterproof" are very different things when it comes to important docs. That said, the easier solution is just to use storage bags like ziploc, which as a bonus can be used to group like documents (and labeled, of course).

The only thing I can think off is that last piece was a lid for a handmade trunk. They used heavier lids to protect the storing of tools and weapons. The “slats” could be a way of preventing the item from being used as a seat. Are there and holes to suggest it once had hinges or a lock? If it was made for a home and not travel the lids wouldn’t necessarily need to be attached to the bottom piece. But the labeling confounds me. They did often label boxes in the military but then this wouldn’t be handmade. At first I thought it was a printers storage system but there would be no reason to make it so heavy. Are there any nails that can help you date it?
Either way you got some really unusual and very cool items. Please do potion mixing, and I need advice from the book for sinusitis. I’m sure the cure would work! 😁💕

Thrift shops have suffered greatly in my community, very sad. So many of the smaller privately owned ones have closed down eliminating those wonderful strips of thrift shops. Again, just very sad for us treasure hunters and especially for those who really depend on these second hand stores to dress themselves and their family.
