Going from your very first streaming rig to a pro level broadcast takes a lot of time and money. Let's talk about how to minimize your extra costs and buy gear that will last you a while, while you stream on Twitch, Mixer, or TH-cam (or anywhere, I guess).

Room 0 noise, OBS 0 noise detected and still the Buzzing came out as i speak even usin Voice Meter. For Streaming maybe it wont bother much because the sounds of the game cover the Buzzing. But if you want to do a TH-cam video were you are just talking without any other sound around the Buzzing will reck your quality 100% :/

You've been so helpful to me as I navigate and learn all about streaming. You explain things in a way that is easy to understand and then you actually link the equipment or resources you mention in the video description. Nice compilation of advice :)
    I have a few questions:
    1. If I want to stream 4k@60, is it possible doing from a single PC?
I guess not, my laptop with 9900k and 2080 doesn't handle it. I can play, I can record showing 60 fps in obs, but when I watch replay it is just laggy.
So most likely I need a 2 streaming setup (I already have an empty Corsair 1000D)
So providing that I aim at 4k@60 or at least 4k stream, is it better to use x264 or NVENC?
    2. Can a top CPU like Ryzen 3950x using x264 give a better quality than NVENC? Or the difference won't be huge and NVENC card is all I need?
Just thinking whether I need to build a stationary pc in Corsair 1000D providing that I already have a laptop 9900k + 2080
In future I plan to run my main system on 3950x, and have a second system as a streaming PC.
Or it doesn't worth it and I can just stream from one pc on 3950x?
    3. What lighting do you use right now? Can you recommend some great lighting?
I can see that nano leaf and Philips hue have stream deck integration.
Thank you for your content, you are awesome man :)

I bought the Canon EOS M50 over this past weekend.
Only issue I have with it is that it doesn't have clean HDMI out but this is circumvented with the micro-USB plugged in and the EOS Utility. I can use the camera indefinitely as long as both the HDMI and the USB cables are plugged into the computer. Otherwise, the quality of it is amazing. The lens it comes with is great quality but I would like a wider field of view at some point. The adapter to use other lenses is $200 so that's yet another expense to save up for.
I don't stream very often but I've gradually been building up my setup over the last four years. Now I'm at the point where I feel like the only real thing I'd need next would be a streaming PC as I've got everything else and am ready to go.

2:03 Well, I have the Razer Siren X, its not terrible but I could've certainly could've gotten a better one for sure. I might upgrade soon to XLR microphones at some point. So to make up for the Razer Siren kind of sounding bad, I use an application called VoiceMeeter Banana which allows me to increase the bass in the microphone, it sounds smoother and reduces background noises. So it sounds a lot better than it does out of the box. Good video though, Alpha.

  • @SparkY0
    @SparkY0 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I assume there's already 800 comments pointing this out, but NVENC isn't a video compression format like h.264. It is a dedicated hardware encoder built into nvidia GPUs that encodes video to into the h.264 (and other formats) without significant impact to other CPU/GPU resources. The quality is comparable to a "medium" setting in OBS software encoding.
AMD has a comparable hardware encoder called AMF, but it's output quality is lower; its usually between fast/veryfast, depending on the bitrate and content. AMD's h.265 quality is much improved, but overall Nvidia has the better encoder.
For streaming, it's still usually better to use the hardware h.264 encoder in most situations. For saving video you should be using h.265 (HEVC), regardless.
Also, "Turing architecture" isn't the name of the NVENC hardware, that refers to the GPU design of Nvidia's entire RTX 2000 series.
Now if you'll excise me, I need to go warm up the new F-150 engine in my truck.

Costco sells a 3 piece set of LED "under cabinet lights" for $30. These things are built exactly like photography lighting, have adjustable brightness, and are absolutely ideal for streaming.

a small error you made Harris, the 4core/8thread cpu is the 3400G, the 3200G is 4core/4thread, but still is very good already for dedicated x264 streaming. although i would suggest in searching for a ryzen 1600 instead on ebay or aliexpress, they are quite cheap now and they work like a beast for streaming, add that the GT710 and that would be it, or even better, go for the GTX 1650 Super when it comes out since it will bring the Turing NVENC encoder.

For very cheap starter kits, I highly recommend the FiFine K669B mic. It sounds just as good as the Blue Yeti but is way cheaper. In terms of webcams, don't get a C920. Get a C930e instead. It has the same quality but is cheaper to get (because it is intended for businesses rather than consumers and thus isn't affected by Corona price increases as much). It also has a much wider angle, enabling you to use that nice wide-screen look on your intermission screen. Just crop in the video on your game screen (you don't need 1080p for that tiny corner video anyways).

Ok I love this video but the one upgrade I dont get is the XLR mic. If you're buying a GOXLR mini and a Hyper X mic at nearly the same time then it seems like a bit of a waste to me. If the Hyper X USB mic costs $140 why wouldnt you just go straight to the PODMIC or Blue Ember and get way better quality for the same price

btw now 4th gen with radeon graphics on the zen2 architecture coming out soon, x264 encoding can be done while not needing a graphics card. And a cpu like a 4700g that is a 8 cores 16 threads
So streaming can be done with like a really small mini itx build

NO. You said the Blue Yeti Nano is fantastic. I have had so much issues with it since I got it. It picks up just about every sound in my family's house. Thats a 2 story house, thats pretty big. And I usually sit upstairs in the second floor with my door closed. Now, I also use a Cherry MX Blue so it picks up every single sounds from that. I can adjust my gate so it don't pick up. But while playing a videogame and talking it interrupts soo much. Many complaints from friends on this. My Corsair Hydro water cooler is of course one of the louder ones. So It does pick up on that too. However doesn't pick up when not talking. ALSO! The Blue sherpa software for the microphone controls don't even reckognize the microphone. Which makes me unnable to adjust it in the software. Tried using other programs such as VoiceMeter, and the windows sounds settings. Neither fixes any of my issues.
All in all I think the Blue Yeti Nano is the worst microphone I've had. Especially when I've used a couple other Headset microphones prior to this. My favorite would be the MMX 300 v1. Good headset too. (Too bad it broke)
Just purchased the Shure SM7B. Hoping for it to be great! Not picking up too much of the excess sounds around me!

What are your thoughts on a good streaming laptop? I tend to travel a lot and have varied living conditions to a point where a normal streaming PC is useless to me most of the time, but still need to stream.

@ismini Quite a big difference streaming off a phone webcam compared to streaming on a PC with a graphical intensive game running. Mostly just trying to find a decent option with a thunderbolt 3 port.
