      🫥 "dotted line face" can go. I have no idea what it means or when to use it, except when someone asks me if I could remove an emoji from the list. Thanks for asking.

    Your editor probably deserves a raise. He did great in this video; the dramatic editing section is fantastic. This tutorial should be required viewing for content creators. You guys should do another DaVinci Resolve video showing the new AI features like subtitles, audio cleanup, editing by changing written script. Great content, keep it up @SenpaiGaming

      @@Senpailove the work your team is doing. Harris has been giving back to the creator community for over a decade and it's greatly appreciated. Between cell phones with great cameras + great low cost camera options, AI assisted art & content, and finally powerful free editing software like DaVinci Resolve; entertainment has been democratized & the future of content creation will explode. Ten years from now, most social media users will probably have their own channel & merch line; and evergreen content like this will be helping many people well into the future.

    Thank you for pointing out the microphone thing. I am a big fan of having the mic in the shot. I think it looks cool and also gives something extra to do with your hands (e.g. adjusting or moving around if you move or just doing whatever with it). Plus it's easier to get great sound without fussing. I would rather have amazing sound quality with the mic in the shot than so-so sound with a mic out of frame, but that's just me.

    • @DoubsGaming
      @DoubsGaming ปีที่แล้ว +2

      IMO it depends on what it is. If it's matpat on the couch or jacksepticeye having a talk then no. It's more distracting and pulls away from the point of conversation.
      Anything else I would absolutely agree with.

    • @StolenJoker84
      @StolenJoker84 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am the same way. My mic is always in the shot, but that’s mostly because I don’t care to have it out. The mic should be positioned in a way that it’s comfortable, while not being a prominent feature. We’re content creators for TH-cam/Twitch/Kik or whatever. We’re not making Hollywood movies here.

    WE DO WANNA USE THE BIG! 😂 As much as background blur is nice, for me I feel there is such a thing as too much. As you're literally describing right now in the video, I think finding that sweet spot of some nice blur while still seeing some background details is nice balance.

  • @deano1699

    I've noticed an interesting thing with the mic in the shot - I'm streaming to zero almost always, so mostly this comes from my exhaustive zoom meetings: when people CAN'T see my mic, they ask me why I sound so amazing on my airpods (which I leave in as headphones)... And when I have the mic in the shot, they ask me if I'm starting a band/singing karaoke/etc, poking little jabs at me and my Shure 55SH. When I *do* have viewers on stream, or in a video posting or whatnot, they NEVER talk sound quality unless they CAN see the mic.
    So, maybe professional=hide your sausage, personal=share it with the world? Definitely agree it's just one more thing to connect with the audience on, for the right audience.

    Something to note re: depth of field in lenses - even if you want to keep the bokeh (i'm one of these people) you will get better results from your lens if you close down your aperture just a bit. When lenses are shot completely wide open the entire image can be a bit soft, but as soon as you click that aperture down a smidge you'll have sharper results - even if the background is a tiny bit less blurry.
    So if you have a 1.4 lens, shoot in 1.8 or 2
    If you have a F1.2 lens (o u fancy huh) shoot in 1.4/1.8
    Also - bokeh is cool but whats not cool is if only the tip of your nose is in focus. Especially when you get to 35mm/50mm+, if you shoot wide open on your aperture, the depth of feild will be so shallow that some of your facial features being closer than others will cause part of your face to be out of focus, aka your eyes could be in focus but then your ears are super blurry. So...don't do that lol.

    For anyone's interested, I had the original hs80, and loved everything about them--mic is next level good and sound was great with atmos--BUT the headset was too small for my massive head. I tried so hard to keep it, even tried to stretch out the headband to reduce the clamping force, but ultimately had to return it because of the small size and the (literal) headaches.

    I love these tips! My favorite one was not blurring the background too much. I still shoot all my videos using my iPhone in cinematic mode. It gives a little blur without it being too much. I’m tempted to upgrade to DSLR just to get better background blur. The wide angle with light blur is helpful. Thanks!

    Haven’t finished the video yet but had to say with symmetry - look at your desk! The left side is lower in the shot than the right (the right side is almost double the height in the frame than the left). I get what you’re saying and it’s a good tip though… 😊

    I have a video idea for you, how would you setup a stream if you were going to do a stream without a camera?
    Obviously you are at a disadvantage when not using a camera, but what if you didn't care and just wanted to stream without one. Would you make the overlays more minimalist or not use them at all (boy would that make a short video)? Do you think you would try to setup a vtuber model or some sort of image that moves with your voice? Is there any setup advantage you could do without having to worry about gear being in your shot like you would with a camera?

    Thanks for the video, good ideas and a great invitation to experiment with stuff. Since this is the topic, my feedback for your shot would be highlights are a bit harsh, especially on your skin (skin tone also seems a bit like there's too much variability, maybe it's light temps idk, the lights near the right side of your frame are a bit distracting and close to the edge. Now, obviously none of this matters, your shot is great and you know what you're doing, but thought I'd jump in on the sharing of ideas.

    @annoholics ปีที่แล้ว

    I wonder why so few content creators use greenscreens. I think it is the ultimate in creativity. You can literally use any background that you want, including backgrounds that you otherwise never could have. Most content creaters don't have a large studio in their home where they can shoot video's in several different rooms with several different angles. So, why not use a green screen. Then you can be in any place including spaces that do not even exist. There are even people that don't use a greenscreen but have a greenscreen result. They film themself in front of e.g. a concrete or stone wall and then they expand the background with an AI generated background. Just be creative.
