    Thank you for such an honest and informative review! I was wondering if you plan (or if you could) review the new XP-Pen Artist 22R Pro drawing tablet with display ? I was leaning towards the XP-Pen 22" , and it looks very promising . So if you could, I would really apperciate if you compared the two .

    I think the black framework its good when you need to use the pen in the edges, that way you always have a surface to rest your hand for example picking brushes or playing with layers in the right edge specially if you are right handed. If it was smaller, you should stand your hand in air when playing with brushes and layers and would be uncomfortable.

    Thanks for the great in-depth review, very helpful! I was wondering which Ergotron LX arm you had that couldn't quite hold the cintiq 22HD - was a desk or wall mount? And did you have an arm extension?

    • @Ahzahail
      @Ahzahail  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      dounia petunia I have the Ergotron LX with the tall pole. www.amazon.com/Desk-Mount-LCD-Tall-Pole/dp/B00689HXI4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1433645446&sr=8-2&keywords=ergotron+lx It supports the 22hd. Out of the box it won't support the weight, there is a tension screw in the 2nd joint that can be tightened to make it hold it. This is not the joint directly behind the monitor that is an up and down tilt, the tension screw is in the 2nd joint with the left to right pivot. You need to tilt the monitor all the way forward and use the supplied Allen key.

    • @Ahzahail
      @Ahzahail  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For me personally as just a hobby, I would get the Yiynova MVP22U V3. I have the Yiynova as well. They have come a LONG way since they first came out. There is almost no difference in feel stylus wise, but less of the extra bits like shortcuts and full screen mapping... I did a review on that display also. Here is a link to that review. th-cam.com/video/-W__QSfclZA/w-d-xo.html

    what program are you using ? photoshop? what other programs could you use with a pc. specifically for drawing mandalas etc? any advice would be greatly appreciated. :) thanks. great vid btw, thanks again

    • @Ahzahail
      @Ahzahail  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The best program I have found for Mandalas is Clip Studio Paint (or Manga Studio 5 in some circles they are the same program) I personally use Clip Studio Paint for sketching and inking and Photoshop for painting. I also use Procreate on my Ipad with the Apple Pencil.

    What is your opinion about the brand XP-Pen? I can not understand the difference between Wacom cintiq 22hd and XP-Pen Artist22E. Is the difference in price only?

    • @Ahzahail
      @Ahzahail  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have never used the XP-Pen, so I can't comment on it. In my personal experience the alternatives are close, but with a few caveats. I had the Yiynova MVP 22u V3, it is close, but at slow drawing paces it is very slightly less accurate. It also does not have a textured screen, this can be good and bad. It had less useful shortcut keys. They were in awkward places and didn't quite have as many options for mapping. Also no screen toggle which I found useful. The drivers were a bit finicky. The pen requires batteries. Last the build quality isn't quite as good. Having said that I would still recommend it to people who don't draw on it for a living, or aren't sure digital art is for them yet. It is definitely a worthwhile alternative. If you use this everyday and really want the absolute best Wacom is the way to go. On another note, an Apple Ipad Pro with the Apple pen, and an anti-glare screen protector for textured a screen is every bit as good as my Wacom. The only trade off is the screen is 12.9 inches, but it is portable which is why I have it. The Procreate app on it is amazing.

    Hello, Craig.
    Thnx for your thorough review.
    The other review on Yiynova was also of great help. Also the one on Amazon.
    Anyhow, I recently upgraded my tablet to cintiq 22hd and
    was wondering about transportation of this huge beast.
    I was able to use Gator 22inch monitor case for the Yiynova but couldn't find a suitable case for this beast as its width exceeds 25".
    Could you chip in some ideas?
    Appreciate it.

    • @Ahzahail
      @Ahzahail  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Ken Nam I have only transported my monitors twice. Once when I moved to Portland, then again when I moved back. Both times I used the box that it came in. I honestly don't move it around much.
      I have had it on an Ergotron arm for quite a while. It keeps it out of the way when I do not need it and makes it easily accessible when I do need it. The monitor arm I have is the "Ergotron LX Desk Mount LCD Arm" It comes with an adjustment screw.
      In this video I said that it sagged, but later I found this adjustment screw on the part on the arm where it connects to the monitor. If you tilt the Tablet forward and look straight down the first arm there is an allen screw that you can tighten to increase the carrying capacity of the monitor arm. This is the best solution I have found. With that screw tightened it WILL hold the 22HD without issue.
      If I wanted something portable, I would get a companion. I am hesitant about getting one of those at the moment, because I have heard many complaints about the power adapter input on it going bad.

    Auestion: What are the colored rings on the pens for?

    • @Ahzahail
      @Ahzahail  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Glenn Billings It's an identifier ring. They are for environments where multiple people might be using the same type of device. This helps identify who pen it is. Or, just for looks

    So question;
    Can this thing be used as a primary desktop? I've seen that it can run Windows 10, which means I can use Chrome and all the usual software like Adobe on it, right?? And what about disks? Does it have a disk slot?
    Am I required to have a laptop or desktop or disk reader to set it up or use it at any time?
    Please excuse the rather basic questions. I just really don't know much about technology. And I definitely don't want a laptop/desktop AND a massive tablet at the same time.

    • @Ahzahail
      @Ahzahail  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +S. Black This is not a computer, it is a drawing tablet (or graphic tablet, or Digitizer no one can seem to make up their mind which to call it). This means you need either a laptop or desktop computer to utilize it. It can be used as a monitor for your PC or Mac. I have mine on a monitor arm (Ergotron LX) this will allow you to put it in place to act as a regular monitor. While connected to the monitor arm you can also pull the 22HD toward you and set it on your desk to draw. The arm allows you to tilt rotate and place the drawing tablet anywhere you need. I recently upgraded this tablet to the 27 QHD, This one will go to work. I haven't recieved it yet. Excited to use it.
      There are all in one systems such as the Wacom Companion and Companion 2. I have used these and felt like it was a good compromise. I personally find the screen on them small (13 inches), but it is the largest one in existence. Careful to get one with enough system power to do what you intend to use it for.
      I have tried the Surface pro 3 and 4 for drawing, I was completely unimpressed for drawing purposes. As a ultrabook tablet it is great, but the pen is just to jittery to be useful for drawing. Hope this helps.

    • @SBlack-gy3zx
      @SBlack-gy3zx 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +craig sheets Thank you! You just cleared up several questions I had all at once. I think I'll just get a longer desk so I can use both a laptop and my Cintiq side-by-side. And I contemplated getting a Surface Pro, but I'm glad to have been told by a user that it might not be that great for drawing. Thanks a lot~

  • @austinpickney3332
    @austinpickney3332 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    do you HAVE to connect this to a pc or mac, or can you draw with it standalone? I don't want to be glued to my laptop all the time. that's more desk space required.

    • @RollingSun2000
      @RollingSun2000 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +austin pickney It's basically a monitor, so yes you need to connect it to a computer of some kind.
      Are you familiar with graphic tablets in general. It is that with a built in screen.
      You might be more interested in something like the Surface Pro (Microsoft).
      = Edit =
      I'm not too familiar with Wacom beyond the intuos and Cintiq products, so I forgot all about the Cintiq Companion. That will be much better than the Surface Pro.

    • @Ahzahail
      @Ahzahail  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Joseph McCafferty +Austin Pickney As he said it is basically a monitor. Their is no processor or any other computer components inside. There is a Wacom product with a built in computer, it is called the Companion. This comes in many different configurations and varies in price accordingly. On the Surface pro, I didn't find it to be good for drawing. I tried it, the tracking on it was sub par for clean lining without tools. This is just my opinion, but the Wacom product tracks MUCH better. Look at the Companion, see what ya think. One of my Co-workers has one. i got to try it. I liked it.

      Thanks craig! I ended up with the cintiq 22. Just got it in a couple days ago. I tattoo as well and am aiming to use this for all of my designs. I figured just to keep it at home, and if I'm home I have my laptop with me. So I don't think it won't be that inconvenient. Thanks for the video!

      +WarriorKiyo I do, its been a while since I changed it too. I really need to order another one. This is the one I used www.amazon.com/POSRUS-Antiglare-Protector-Display-DTK2200/dp/B009AYMIPW/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1455785397&sr=1-1&keywords=posrus+22hd

      +WarriorKiyo I just ordered a replacement screen protector from Photodon, it was definately better than the Posrus one.. Just a heads up. I had the Posrus protector about 6 months. I have a buddy who had the Photodon protector. I was inpressed with its make up. Just seems to offer more protection, and I like the texture on it also.

    What is that program you r drawing on? I bought hd22 from a friend.

    • @Ahzahail
      @Ahzahail  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Phong Nguyen This program has 2 names. "Clip Studio Paint" and "Manga Studio". "Manga Studio" is the name of the U.S. distribution. "Clip Studio Paint" is the original name of the program maker, Smith Micro. This program is great! I absolutely love it, and it's really inexpensive (starts at 50$ for the version I use). 220$ for the one made to do fill comic books. My drawings are not all that comic book like. Everything on my website was sketched and shaded with Clip Studio Paint. Some with Photoshop also, but 70% was done in C.S.P. you can see my art at www.craigstattoos.com in the artwork section / tab.

      @walidhoyek6758 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      craig sheets thx a lot for your reply craig, i zoomed into the brand of your chair, saw some reviews and ordered one from amazon in blue :)
      the small difference in price between between the 22 and the 27 made me think of buying the 27, also saw some reviews here and all say that the 27 have a better resolution screen and a better connectivity with a mac pro, yet i couldn't find any online to buy not even from wacom, i think after your message i will buy the 22hd one, to be honest i like it more size wise and seems more realistic in that sense.
      hope i am right ! again thank u so much for taking the time and answering me, all the best, God bless :)

    Hi there! Does the surface has any texture... Paper like or something? Or is it like a screen Cristal

    • @Ahzahail
      @Ahzahail  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      eduki It is textured, not as much as paper, but there is texture. They have to balance texture with image quality. I think the amount of texture that comes on it is a pretty good balance. More texture would cause the picture to be too grainy.

    • @eduki
      @eduki 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      craig sheets thanks! I have the Companion 1 and I'm pretty happy with the texture, like you say it's balanced with the drawing feeling and screen quality, I expected the same of this 22HD ;)
      By the way I'm using a screen protector that makes even better the drawing experience, are there screen protectors also available for the 22? Thanks again!

    • @Ahzahail
      @Ahzahail  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      eduki Yes there are many options for screen protectors. The Companion and 22hd have exactly the same texture.

    • @Ahzahail
      @Ahzahail  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They were 1200$ brand new in about 2012. I would say that is a good deal if you don't mind low resolution (1080p) screen. II moved onto the 27qhd since then.

    • @Gerintea
      @Gerintea 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Ahzahail I've considered other brands (e.g XP Pen and Huion) and they both have 1080p except it's much smaller (10 inch to 16 inch) for a slight bit more (or less depending on the size) so I don't think the resolution would be a big deal. Thanks for replying!
