Looks like you made it to North Swan Beach. The house way out on the beach is called the Laughing Gull. It's a matter of time until the mighty Atlantic claims that house. Driving during high tide usually is only tricky if you get towards Virginia, as you pass Carova Beach Fire Station. I've found the best surf fishing (at least in October) to be from North Swan Beach around Wash Woods (old Coast Guard Station - currently Twiddy Real Estate) and about 1 mile up. I haven't tried much farther up, but in talking to other folks they have good luck all the way up to the Virginia line. If you ever make it there in October, you have to go try fishing there. Agree, it's great to be able to stay at a house and enjoy those luxuries with the family, but still get on the beach with the trucks with plenty to explore and see.
I was thinking the other day of posting the name of a local bottle shop here in the triangle, and just having a meet up with anyone local who follows the channel. It was funny to think that on one hand maybe five people would show up, or else maybe 300 people come out, and the whole road is entirely lined with sweet overland rigs. It would be fun meeting people and seeing the trucks!
curtis wall where are the air up stations? That’s awesome.. might entice more people to air down... Been a couple years since I’ve been able to get down but heading there in a couple weeks.
@@todd_raymond they are right at the park with the light house just before you head into the sand. Really well done too. I think there were like 4 pump stations and plenty of hose length. No charge to use.
You know, these 70 degree days HAVE been awesome, but I actually filmed this back in October, just before the Cape Lookout trip that I already posted. I made the Cape Lookout videos first because the first one of those videos was about the recent storm damage so it was time sensitive, and I wanted to keep the other Cape Lookout video together with that one. Now I'm finally getting back to videos from the Corolla trip. Long explanation, which is why I didn't try explaining all that in the video :)
The area north of the ramp is not Carova Beach. Carova is a subdivision 3 miles in length at the Virginia line. The whole beach from the CURRITUCK county line is correctly known as The CURRITUCK Banks also known as the Northern Banks…not Carova Beach
The tires are one size up from factory: 265/75R16, but the suspension is all stock still. The only thing I added is airbags inside the coils in the back, which help avoid any sag, especially when pulling the trailer.
I use a DJI Mavic Air drone, GoPro session with a gimbal, my Samsung, and a Canon R700 for any shot that requires zoom. Thanks for following the channel!
Unfortunately no camping on that beach :( I think the closest camping is down in Kitty Hawk, and there is some really nice Outer Banks camping a bit further south at Oregon Inlet, where you can drive out on the beach right next to the campground. I think a cool trip would be to start at the south end of the outerbanks and camp your way north for 4-5 days, and then at the far north end you could stay in one of those 4x4 access houses that you can see behind the beach up there at the north end.
You can camp on the mainland - google campgrounds in Currituck County. As long as you have a 4x4, it takes about 40 minutes from the mainland to the end of the paved road.

Does your 4 runner have a leveling kit or suspension? And how high does it sit? How big are your tires or is it all factory?
