469 miles of gorgeous views every single mile. And so right, get out and enjoy the back country with the setup you have and fine tune it as you learn your needs.
It has been about 25 years since we've been on the Blue Ridge parkway. We'd forgotten how beautiful it is! Looks like it's time for a return trip! Love the Xpedition Trailer so much we're having our own built! Great videos! Very informative. Keep it up!
Pisgah is basically our backdoor outside recreation area and you are correct in two points, crowded and hard to find dispersed camping if you're not in a tent. I've got a few spots that I can get to where I won't be run off or fined, but you best go during the week. I've been all over the NF sites in NC, TN and GA and while there are plenty of spots where you can use a trailer, there are also great spots you would have a hard time getting that Gladiator in. I find a Tacoma/4Runner sized vehicle great compromise, but then I generally go solo, sleep in the back of the rig and tend to be a bit of a minimalist. Like most things in life, finding the balance between convenience and flexibility is key. Great video on The Parkway.
Awesome video as always Coddiwomple Overland. The Blue Ridge Parkway is so magnificent I've been on the BRP two times and it's so beautiful the first time I got sick but the second time is burned into my memory forever as some of the most beautiful and amazing scenery.
Welcome Jerry and Lee to the overlanding world! You couldn't have found a better couple to help "break you in" lol. Seriously though, Bill and Deb are great. Awesome video guys ❤
My family has driven the BRP completely several times and partial trips even more. Y’all stopped and explored some of our favorite spots. The spot where you were walking across the creek on the grist mill disks is where my favorite family pic is from. Peaks of Otter and Mabry Mill is also a fam fav. One place you didn’t stop (at least on the video) is Devil’s Courthouse. My kids love the climb and the views from there. As always, thanks for sharing your trip!!
@@CoddiwompleOverland we love to go to Oconaluftee to see the elk. Most late afternoons the fields (and sometimes the roads) are full of them. I wish they would migrate up over the mountains to Tennessee!
Thank you guys, love your videos and how lucky were Jerry and Deb to have you along on their first trip. Love the BRP, living in Franklin NC just a few miles from Cherokee we are up there often when we need a little release from the every day! Roll what you ride, you’ll figure it out as you go and don’t wait until you’ve got everything! Just get out and enjoy our amazing country!
Thank you for this video. We are wanting to do some of the Parkway this fall. We have a Jeep, but the camper we have is too heavy to pull behind it....we need to fix that..
Super cool! Do you ever post the different trails you took in your videos? Hoping to follow a similar route next week. Did you research dispersed campgrounds before the trip or did you just drive until you found something suitable? Thanks!
We do share gpx files. We do research the areas we are going to and make sure dispersed camping is allowed. Most of the time, we drive till we find something suitable. You can email us at contact@coddiwomple-overland.com
Doing the BRP from north to south is on our bucket list. Will have to watch this again to get camping spot ideas so you don’t have to use the developed campgrounds. We have camped many times off of the Bald Mountain Jeep trail. It will definitely give your vehicle some pinstripes. Be glad you didn’t meet anyone on there as the pull of spots can be few and far between.
Big Levels (bald mountain jeep trail) is a great trail. Probably my favorite in Virginia. Let me know when you plan to come to hit it. I'd love to join you guys out there!
Did you get filming permits for the national Forest? Just curious with the law changes and filming for income and monetization in national parks and forests.
@@CoddiwompleOverlandThx for sharing! Right in my backyard as I'm just north of Richmond. My wife and I are out that way all the time. Another nice area is Rapidan, not too far from Afton. I use Gaia as well. Do y'all ever share your tracks and routes? Been building a small overlanding catalog myself.
I overlanded to work last week. We then overlanded to Joshua Tree National Forest this weekend. We then overlanded to get some food on our way back today, I also overlanded over to the gas station. So much overlanding. Not commuting, not traveling, not road tripping, and definitely not camping. No sir, we were overlanding.
Spent much of my childhood in these parts! Recognized almost every single one of your shots on the Virginia side. Lovely country! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching

Appreciate Bill & Deb’s hospitality on our first overlanding journey. We’ll be going out again soon. 😁🏕️💕
Glad you enjoyed the trip.

Great video! Good advice at the end.

The Elk use that river as a byway. It’s always cool to see them. I love the NC section of the Parkway.

Great trip!! Food looked great. Love that Irish butter.
Thanks! We love that butter also.
I really enjoyed this, and I learned allot of good things.

Nice work with the trailer... I'd probably still be there trying to get it turned around.
Just practice home, and you would do fine.

Great trip and video. Anxious to hear more about the camper! Do a walk around soon! Looks like you put the RSI cap back on.
Yes, we put the RSI back on. It has been our favorite set up. We will definitely do a walk around soon.
The Bald Mountain Jeep Trail is an amazing trail. Lots of obstacles, camping spots, and water crossings! It's not to far away from Overland Expo East!
We may have to do that after the expo.
