Mountains to Sea Overland
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 7 มี.ค. 2019
Mountains To Sea Overland has it's home base in central NC, and we love exploring new areas both toward the mountains and toward the ocean in North Carolina and our surrounding states such as Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee. We drive trucks built for overland style travel, designed more for getting off the grid and camping then for hard core offroading. The focus of this channel is providing information on local areas so others can get out there and explore them too. We don't provide exact coordinates or GPS routes, but we give enough of a description for you to find your own way to places, and we tell you what to expect so you can evaluate if your vehicle is suited for the area. Follow along if you need information and inspiration to fuel your adventure in this corner of our country.
How To Find the Corolla Wild Horses (4WD Needed)
We stayed in Corolla and headed north to the Corova Beach area north of Corolla to find the wild Spanish mustangs that can be found on the beach and in the town in the four wheel drive area near the North Carolina/Virginia border. We didn't want to pay for a tour truck and we enjoy the adventure of doing things on our own, so we went looking for the horses ourselves, and we had great success!

มุมมอง 6K5 ปีที่แล้ว
After storms a few weeks before our trip and reports of flooded area and a lot of damage, I was curious to know how the island looked. This is a North to South survey of the entire South Core Banks with peaks of the damage and some ideas for where to camp and where to avoid.

Offroad Trailer Vs. Forklift - Testing the Tip Over Point and Ball Hitch
มุมมอง 4.7K5 ปีที่แล้ว
We used a fork lift to test how far the offroad trailer could be tipped while attached to the truck with a 2 inch ball hitch, and then we tested how far it could be tilted before it wanted to flop over. We were surprised at the results!

10:02 i have pics at this exact spot from last year. It was very obvious to my eyes. I know exactly where you are. The interstate is very close to this spot. The trail three or so miles behind this spot is incredible. Literally the most 'off road' a stock off roader could hope to get through... I was in a 4th gen though so its do-able. going forward though its just, if im remembering correctly, two turn off areas and no dumping signs and then a main road. you took the better route as I did.
I wish you were still doing videos.
Came looking to see tire choices. Size and choice between m/t or a/t.

What is the trail head name
Where did you go? Started watching years ago then you disappeared
I can’t find this training any of the apps. Where is it!?!?
Thanks for the video! I have a Chevy AstroVan with AWD, New Goodyear All Terrain Baja Champion Knobby Tires and a 3" Lift Kit. The Van is heavy, as it is a modified camper. Any guess how it will do on this beach? Thanks! And where are the other beaches that allow driving that you said are hard packed. I know about Freeman but not any others. Appreciate it!
Headed there tomorrow actually love this place was scouting some YT VIDS seen yours thought I'd comment
What are you using for the fire? I've never seen that metal cylinder thing before.
Cataloochee turnpike he said is how its labeled
did you get a permit to use the drone in a national park?
He hasn't posted in 4 years. Wonder what happened? Really enjoy his videos.
This guys hasn't posted in 4 years. Does anyone know what happened? Really like his videos.
Hey Tim, what happened is I quit my job as a software developer and started a small business in home services. The business has been awesome and I love my job now, but it doesn't leave nearly as much time for trips like this, and when I am able to get out to adventure I use the time to unwind, with no filming. I'm really thankful for how popular these videos have been and I've left the channel up since people are finding them useful, and I may come back to it someday (maybe when my kids take over the business!) but for now I'm happy to let it be in the background. Glad you are enjoying the videos and hope you have some awesome adventures out there!
@@wlfmachine That's awesome man thanks for responding!
What happened to this channel? It's been a few years.
How did you find these roads? We’re going in a couple weeks thanks!
What's the sign at 7:07 say?
I've driven my lifted geo metro all over that area lol, I love it!
Do you drive on 4H or 4L on sand?
Would love some gps points and waypoints. Sorry to see no more videos!
do you have an Instagram or way we could communicate I'm in North Carolina and would love to start tagging along.
You used to be able to do so, but I haven't been up that road in years. ❤
Great video. Looks like y’all had a wonderful time.
Is this NC 105 or Forest Road 105 and does it have an alternate name? Never mind. This is old NC 105 / Forest Road or NC 1238 North of Lake James on Hwy 126.
We explored the area about 3 years ago. Found horses in the middle of the afternoon not far into the housing area. Caught a branch and scratched my truck a little on it. I love having that battle scar for the memories! The kids love it. I hope you've gone to Hatteras Island around Cape Point too.
I'm a beginner where can I pickup a nice easy road? I would like to camp.
Good road. Toe river trail is directly across the top once you reach the parkway which will take you down to hwy 80 and south toe river
Miss your videos! I was curious what fridge you were using, looking to purchase one.
hopefully everything is ok , i haven’t hear anything from you
Great video! I love that you include your kids in the adventures. As a Dad, it’s nice to see other Dad’s getting their kids outdoors on micro adventures. I’ve subscribed. Thanks.
Do you think I can make it on this beach with my 4x4 Chevy Tahoe Z71 ?
Great video. Can you camp in that area?
Elk are very very dangerous - Dint think they want charge at ya - if they feel threaten - they will - Females are the most dangerous when they have babies - in your last clip people were way to close - their very fast animals - they do t look it - but they are - Male bull elk - are very dangerous - and when they their heard of females together - they are at their most dangerous - people shouldn’t be allowed to be that close -
Great video!
I was born and raised in Marion. We used to go up on 105 when we were bored and hang out, I live in Burke county now, even closer to 105 lol
Sorry to see there are no recent videos. Really like these videos. My wife and daughter are acrually going to try out some of these spots this spring and summer because of this channel. Hope you guys are doing well.
Great video. Thanks! Does you or anyone know if this is accessible in February? I have a 3" lifted tacoma- off road with rear slip diff so I'm not worried about handling the trail.
Don't bother, it's ruined as told to me by an ignorant TH-cam commenter
@@user-uj3zk2cx8t Okay, you found my comment after I didn't like yours. In all honesty, How is it ruined? Ruined like tons of people? Ruined like it's closed? I see nothing on any of the Nation Forest Service sites that say anything about this road being closed, and no recent videos about it. I'll listen if you have anything that backs up your claim that it's "ruined".
And it's not like if I get to the trail head, and the gate is closed, that I'm going home. There are over 10 trails within a mile. Are you telling people to not try and go off roading in this area? I just don't understand the negativity.
Any special tire requirements that you can speak to? '16 4Runner running stock 20" Michelins, if that helps. Thanks.
yup been up there in my outback. it handled it very well.
Really awesome to see you guys picking up the trash. I always try to bring a trash bucket and pick up trash when I can. Good ride too, I love this type of excursion!
Hola qué tal ajuro necesitas un 4x4 para estar en tu grupo soy nuevo en charlotte y tengo un 4x2
20 psi is not high at all. I do the same on my RAV4 and never had any problems.
Do you need any camp permit even driving inside the forest?
Do you need to have a camping permit in the area?

I hope you went to Curtis Creek Falls.
Credulous
It was hard to find, not a long or difficult road, but a beautiful place. It was not worth the time and effort to get to.
