- Day as a campground host in the remote Colorado Mountains.
Camp host at Himes Peak Campground in Meeker, Colorado.
*My name is Brian. I started living full time in a self built camper van in 2014 in my hometown of San Diego, CA. I hit the road full-time in 2015 to pursue seasonal work and travel around the U.S. I find free camping on public land and enjoy photography, hiking, biking, and kayaking in nature. Join me on my adventures.
Thanks for watching!

You are so conscientious, Brian. What a great host! Wish I could stay in one of those gorgeous sites. I hope you have a fantastic summer.
I was thinking the same thing. Brian, they are fortunate to have you!
Seems like you're perfectly suited for this campground work. Hope you get a fat paycheck and a big raise.
and this job looks like a good workout too!
The rainbow and the hummingbird let you know you are in the right place. Perfect job for you Brian. There is nothing like a good hot bowl of food after a long day of work.🌻
I’ve enjoyed watching you bring life back to those campsites. Dinner looks good. Your outdoor office is beautiful.
Nah, it's not an unfair advantage, it's an earned advantage! This looks perfect for you Brian! I'm glad it's working out! You've earned it.
If I had a camper I would absolutely stay at the campgrounds!
If the Queen had balls she would be the King.
Gosh, I bet your new employer feels so relieved and lucky to have you there! Hard working/no drama, self starting, employees are hard to find nowadays. You’ve seriously turned those campgrounds around and made them look beautiful in such a short amount of time. I’m so glad to see you look relaxed and happy! Be safe ✌️
Wow you're really getting that place cleaned up looks great Brian another wonderful video too
The Spoon🌟
I like the Wooden Spoon👏👏
Minimum wage for a live-in remote job where you are required to have skills and operate equipment is not a fair wage, but I don’t fault you for taking it. That’s a sweet place to be. Your value to these campgrounds is worth at least $25/hr. Not surprised they have trouble finding quality people
His space is free so not too bad.
If you factor in the camping space he gets on top of the wage and any other perks and being able to enjoy for free someplace people normally spend a lot of money to get to and stay, I would say that is a great wage!! 😊
Not only an easy, tasty meal but so inexpensive as well. Such a thorough job cleaning up those sites, right man for the job. ✌️💚
Back to your roots. Looks like you are enjoying your time there and the work. They are lucky to have you.
The humming bird was like where is the feeder lol
Wow! the rainbow confirmed that God is watching over you. The little hummer is begging for a feeder, they see your great cooking skills and want in on it. lol! Brian I pray that your new environment will feed your soul to overflowing. God bless you, Louise
That's one of my favorite meals too. I put cornbread in the bottom of a mug and pile on the stew. By the time you get down to the cornbread it's full of delicious pot liquor. Don't forget the hot sauce. 😁👍
That high speed landscaping is fun to watch 🌳
Have fun Brian great video
Great job cleaning up the campgrounds, very scenic view. I was going to be a campground host but instead I found a job in Southeast Texas called being a gatekeeper, basically I was in a guard shack checking in trucks making deliveries to a petroleum supply company. The job paid $30 an hour, it was 12 hour shifts, 7 days a week, and you had to commit to a 90 day contract and if you full-filled the contract there was a nice bonus added. The guard shack was quite huge, it had a large bathroom, came with a kitchen, wifi, and a decent AC. I made enough money from this one job I could travel the rest of the year and not touch my military pension....
Do you get overtime when over 40 hours?
Bug Clothing and a Head Net... I worked in Steamboat Springs for a month and left on July 4th. Monsoon season was just beginning. Went to Salida after that. Really liked that town. This place and the job are exactly what you needed right now. Good on ya Brian.
Thank you for showing us what nomads do for work and actually doing the work not just talking about it. I appreciate it!
You have the best nomad channel on TH-cam.
That vegetable beef soup is my favorite🤗Bite size cabbage is delicious in it Awesome summer vids🥰
Great video! Be careful of the deer flies! I pulled into a beautiful camp site close to a Missouri Conservation area, and my van was attacked by deer flies. I left after 15 minutes, having never gotten out of the van. It was crazy!
I always appreciate how you break down all the details for your gigs, especially what one might expect to make.
Good job, Bryan. You are the man; always positive with can-do disposition. Lord knows, we need more people like you in the US.
Hey Brian...
You missed a spot..😂
Great channel and content.
nice vid. good work, since you are so much more efficient at landscape care, they are getting a bargain having you around, they must be loving you..probably have a great reference in the future for choice campground hosting in the future? anyways fun to watch video, informative.
I think I read it in a Mark Twain novel from his early gold mining days (Roughing It) after he would help push wagons laden with mining equipment (pulled by mules) up the most rugged terrain in the mountains... "hunger is the best sauce". A hard days work or even hiking a lot makes food taste 10 times better. Easy compadre.
We enjoyed working with AL&L and were bummed when our concessionaire company changed this past season at the campground we work at. Hopefully you’re not having too many issues with them.
It’s nice being able to just self manage yourself. Bosses definitely make or break those types of jobs.
Sounds like you’re adapting well- hope you get to enjoy some time in CO.
Always nice to pull into a well groomed campsite.
14:26 You need to fix a go bag that you can carry with you or grab and throw on your motorcycle to make sure you have everything you might need to have with you when you are out. Have a good day.
For the mosquitoes, Bryan try spray bottle with water, vanilla extract and cinnamon. It works.
Working part time can be a great work life balance 👍
The beauty of the area!! Never had a desire to visit Colorado until now; thanks for opening my eyes.
P.s. A can of small black beans in your soup might be a good addition 🙂
I thought that was Himes Peak. I grew up in Meeker. Have watched you for years. I haven't been to the campground in 40? years. Worked at the Buford Store when I was a kid.
We stayed at Buford the last 4 years. The store has been closed for several years. Sadly, the campground did not open for 2024, the owners are getting older and have a hard time finding help to run the place. Such a shame, sitting next to the South Fork of the White River steps away from our cabin was heavenly.
@@jobabs when I was there they just had cabins and the store was on north fork of the white river, the south fork of the white river is just south of there over the hill. But I really haven’t been up there unfortunately in a lifetime. Was 4th generation in Meeker and nobody is really left of the family. The owners the owners of the Buford store the Tuckers. Mrs Tucker was my kindergarten teacher.
@@scottbloomfield2564 my bad, that should have been the North Fork the cabins are by, and not the South Fork. Yes, Diane Tucker is such a nice, lovely person. Broke my heart when she emailed us they were not opening. They had added a small RV park, held I think 10-12 units with full hookups. Also had spots along the river for dry tent camping. We are staying at a nearby vacation house this year, we will drive by and reminisce for sure.
@@jobabs I think she is the daughter in law or granddaughter of the Tuckers I knew. Mrs T and Harry passed years ago.
@@scottbloomfield2564 Diane would prob be a daughter in law. Her husband is Tom. Guessing they are in their late 60s/early 70s. Sad they can't find somebody to take it over and run it.
Thank you for the info Brian. Deer flies are mean, can't say I envy you 🤷 Sending Grandmama love ❌⭕, Iris and Little One 👋🐾
Thanks for sharing Brian, prayers for you!
Yep, being a campground manager is a great gig! I had to chuckle a little because I was just doing some weed wacking around my campground today. I love meeting campers from all walks of life and many different countrys and being outside!! It does get busy on the weekends for me, but doing this job also allows me time to enjoy things I like to do! And working for AL&L the past 3 years has been great!(I recognized the uniform shirt and name tag)!!😁👍
Looking forward to the next video! 👍🏻🫵🏻🇺🇸🍝☕️🍀
I mowed lawns every summer with my dad for a little $ in my teens, and I’m with you…that sense of rendering something overgrown into something inviting and neat feels great!
Wow. Colorado - what an absolutely beautiful state.
no doubt they are Lucky to have You as a camp host!
Nice job! I love how you show the real life of camp hosting. I can’t wait to see more. You literally made me laugh out loud when you joked about the dog falling down on the job. HAHAHAHAHA 😂
Great picture of the rainbow with your ring in the middle! You are right where you need to be Brian!😍
Bonjour Brian so glad you are cooking again and yes you are fast at weeds cutting 😀. Take care Mon Ami .
You have such a great work ethic! Beautiful job! You might want to get a net headgear. We have nasty flies and mosquitos in Minnesota, especially in the Northwoods. That netting made a huge difference although they can get warm…blessings to you…🙏
Thanks Brian Another great video!! What a beautiful place to be.
Great vid, Brian! Looks like you’ve dropped some weight. Must be all that yard work! Be healthy 😊
The Rainbow🌈 Was Beautiful Awesome
Cool 😎
Good , Happy 😊 it's working for You
Colorado is 😍 🤩 Beautiful💟❤️💯
Happy Trails🌄🌲
Safe Travels🙏✝️🕊
Happy fishing! That soup looked good, and I cook like that for myself on the homestead pretty often. Nice to have a hot meal after working all day when you don't feel like cooking. Enjoyed the video.
Awesome rainbow. Nice place to work, play & work. You're doing a great job. KOKO
I love your videos, waiting for your next video.😊
Hey, have any of the campers recognized you from your TH-cam channel?
I would love to stay at a campground where you are the host. Great job! Thanks for all the information at the end. 👍
Love love love the time lapse of the yard work. It's so satisfying.
WOW out loud! for that rainbow! What kind of weed whacker do you use? it seems very efficient! Get a scarf and spray it good with the bug spray, that protects your skin but will deter buggies. Love to you!!
I camp hosted once and it's pretty much what you said in a prior video, it's very easy to provide more labor than you're being paid for. You can't ensure the guests have a good experience in the hours they allocate and pay.
Weed eating is hard work Brian and your eating a hardy farmer's meal coming from a farmer's daughter. Good stuff! 😋 🤩 Best wishes from good Ole Arizona. Love, love your video's! 🎉
I noticed in the shot of the hummingbird there is something bright red by the window. I'm sure that is what is attracting him. My brother lived in Minnesota and put hemorrhoid cream on the deer fly bites and it takes the swelling down. Love the beautiful scenery.
Hey Brian, You got those campgrounds looking great.
The company you're working for they hit the jackpot with you professional landscaper.
Looking forward to the next video hopefully you get some fishing time in.
Enjoy your time.
Wow. $22 a night. I'm hosting in Florida. Hope you have fun.
I love Northwestern CO, it's so lush with Aspen groves everywhere. Been a nice summer too.
Great video! Wow those flies are jerks! I live in Tombstone, AZ and they can be a bit aggressive here, but not like that!
Great video!! You look very handsome and professional in your work shirt. Be careful of mosquitoes. Rainbows, hummingbirds and beautiful sheep. All in Gods magnificent creation. Just perfect for your gentle nature Brian. Keep those great videos coming!! We enjoy them so much. Hugs from southern Virginia.
I enjoyed watching the time lapse of you with the weed eater. Great job!
Thanks for the video ✌️
For swarms of flies, we usually get those smelly little fly catching pouches from Amazon. It's not a perfect solution, but does help reduce their population around our small RV. BTW, that soup definitely made me hungry!
Perfect job for you! Love the area....the mountain views and the sounds of water are so wonderful. Thank you for doing such a nice job....the sites looked so much better and much more welcoming. Soup is my favorite thing to make. I make a good chicken orzo spinach with veggies that is one of my favorites. Keep up the good work and get out and enjoy some of the beautiful land!
That rushing stream was beautiful. The valley is beautiful too with so many colors of green. Soup looks tasty after a long days work. Enjoy!
Have followed you for years. So happy that you are happy
You are definitely in your element with that job 😊. I'm so happy for you that you found such a job that is not so time consuming and you can still enjoy your free time hiking. Thx for the update Brian ❤ Teresa from Pennsylvania 🖐️
I was in Colorado vacationing/camping last week and thought about you as I was driving through Leadville (your video driving through there had just come out on TH-cam). The public national forest service campgrounds we stayed at were all very well maintained by campground hosts which is much appreciated. Thank you to you and all of these hosts for your efforts! Enjoy your summer in the mountains!
I am in AZ; Phoenix area right now. That rain looks glorious!! And OMG! Amazing rainbow capture!
Enjoy the scenes of your life and the music! Thanks Brian🤗🙋♀️
Wow Brian, you’re doing exactly exactly what I did last year in Oregon. I worked at a 10 site campground for 10 hours and $15 an hour and picked up a few hours trimming some yardwork around the camps.
Unfortunately, this year my health has fit me in the backside and I’m not able to leave the state of Nevada.
and I may have to spend the winter in an RV park not favorable.
I hope to be able to go back to camping in 2025😊
You are a nice guy with lots of great skills including nice videographer with good commentary. Thank you.
What a difference a trimmer makes!! You can tell you have been a professional at this. YOU need some fly repellent!! LOL My father worked a gold mine in Colorado.. I agree that it is like heaven on earth! Thanks for sharing.. love from Rhode Island!
Hi Brian, as always it so good seeing you. Loved the rainbow and the hummingbird. Your stew looked good enough to eat! lol You're a diligent worker Brain. They're lucky to have you! Continued happy adventures!
So satisfying watching the clean up in fast mode!!!!
Looks like this job is made for you, happy trails, and away we go. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
The camp host job looks perfect for you. My parents were camp hosts in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho for years. They loved it.I hope you have fun and be safe out there
Such a beautiful area!! I hate the bugs are after you.
That rainbow ❤❤❤
Looks to me like a guy with a landscaping background is a godsend to a campground. You rock!
Is a weed whip a brand of string trimmer? Good job Brian. 😊
Making me hungry. It's so good to see your happy new job.
Hi Brian, I was a camp host in Sequoia national Forest for 3 years . Very cool job. Watching from Kingman Arizona
Beautiful area. I lived nearby for several years in Toponas, about 50 miles east of your campground. Spent lots of time backpacking and horse camping in Flattops Wilderness.
Hey Brian you do fine work sir looks great ! Thanks for sharing all this info .Big hugs from MN
Hey! enjoyed the video. We are Camp Hosting down near Pueblo, CO. LOVE it here at LaVista Campground in San Isabel National Forest. Looking forward to your next video
Looks like you've chosen a great summer job, and the park has found an excellent camp host. Thanks for another fun video.
You are the number one the best camp host.
Campground not only getting your service also getting customers which is win win for everyone.....we get to see it on TH-cam...this is really great 👍
100 degs in Denver today. Enjoy the cool mtns Brian
As a single traveler I appreciate all of your recipes. I think about you when I past the sugar beet farms in the Michigan thumb
Nice to see someone with some work ethic. Wish I had a coworker like you. Enjoy you summer.
What a beautiful area.
Super, driving and getting paid no complaints... Btw they are lucky to have you.
Thy adventure continues 🎉
About the only one worth watching nowadays thanks for taking the time to post a great video
That's a beautiful carved spoon you made! And what a lovely memory. Great content, new sub ❤
I don't comment very much but I do want to say you continue to turn out fine videos with a good mix of nature and personal thoughts. Excellent camera and editing. Thanks for staying true to yourself, Brian. Glad to see you found a place and job for the summer. Peace to you, too. 🌎☀🌓
I think when I commented before in the past few years I was user Danial Tijuana Gringo. Still am. Oops I dropped my own piece of vegetable on the floor. LOL. Okay bye. Hope you enjoyed the holiday weekend. ❤😎
I always liked slow cookers and instant pots because it's like having a little maid. The meal is done when you get home.
