how did u torque the crank pulley without removing the starter? did u just use an impact only thing that makes me nervous about the job lol cause everyone else removes starter to lock the flywheel
Other than removal, the crank buts up against the lock tool in the lower engine casing. So it can’t go any further. So you should be able to put plenty of pressure on. It worked fine for me, but if it niggles you then get the correct tool. Thanks for your comment and good luck!

I don't get it. Those cam locking spiders fit in better if you turn them around 180°. They slot straight in all the grooves in the pulley flush. Are they all marked up wrong?
I've got two and they are exactly the same
At which point did you lock the flywheel? And I could only see information about the Laser 5903 kit which doesn't include a tool for the flywheel.
@@Nyle95the crankshaft is locked with the pin, which is the same as locking the flywheel…🤦🏻♂️
Does the flywheel tool come in the same kit from Laser as the timing locking tool? If not can you tell me which tool to buy please? Also where is it shown in the video as I can't seem to find it
There are different kits. Make sure you get the one that specifies the 1.6. And or st engine. It’s a small tool that inserts in back of pulley. Rewatch video. I’m sure it’s there. Thanks for your comment and good luck with the job.
@@How2FixIt1 Thanks. You mention one kit which is specific to the 1.6 which I have. I also say the one you put in the back of the pulley but is there not a seperate tool for the flywheel? I have rewatdhed this video and this is all I can see. Thanks.
@Nyle95 the flywheel locks at the back of the engine. Remove the driveshaft bracket. There is a blanking plug to remove. Then the locking tool screws in. Then the crankshaft is turned to but upto the tool. The other method is removing the starter motor where a special tool can lock off the flywheel as on the 1.0 l Ecoboost Engine.

@Nyle95 yes you require the one in block behind drive shaft, and the one on the pulley to allow correct ignition timing. 👍
Hi I’m getting a kind of humming sound after the revs drop on start up coming from around the auxiliary belt area which seems to fade as the car warms have you experienced this kind of noise before ? Thanks
Best thing to do is run it with auxiliary belt removed. If it goes it’s obviously one of the pulleys/alternator. Then spin them separately and see if any make a noise.
@@How2FixIt1 is it safe to do that ? Could it harm the engine ? My knowledge is limited with this kind of mechanics.
@elliot7573 it won’t run for long because the battery will go flat. Obviously no charge going in battery. So you may need a battery charger and or booster for afterwards.

Hi is it the same on st2 2017 ? Timing done 11 o’clock never had the timing locking tool done it visually tried to start the car won’t fire up :/ seems like it’s not getting the spark at the right moment
Crankshaft pulley not timed up definitely the problem. Watch the video again and you will see why.
Thanks for your replay so purchased the locking tool today still won’t start:/ I forgot to mention the top cams where removed as head gasket had to be replaced and head skimmed now am wondering if the top cams are sitting right not sure if they meant to face down or up but either way locking tool works and fits
@@tredingpunkspunks3280 the cam lock tools should be marked inlet and exhaust. I would seat from scratch and retime it all up again. Follow the video and the instructions in the lock kit. I had the same problem as you and didn’t realise the cam pulley way timed. 4 times I stripped it down until I had the light bulb 💡 moment why it wouldn’t run properly. Good luck 🤞
