The top hat has three bolts. That bottom bolt flange needs to be oriented perpendicularly in between two of those bolts. I really just eyeballed it and it worked out but would definitely recommend taking pics and marking down with a pen where it was so it can go back the same way.
Next time try removing the two bolts underneath the LCA ball joint at the hub. It allows for additional free movement downward and a bit towards the front of the vehicle... without removing the tie rod. If you keep the bolt in at the bottom of the shock while you allow the LCA to drop, it’ll bring the shock down with it to clear the top mount.
Yeah fortunately it worked out for me just jamming it in but if I went any higher with the lift it would have been impossible to get that bottom bolt in without doing the LCA bolts. Hopefully this setup won’t need to be adjusted until I go with a LT setup
At the third groove setting It will be somewhere around 3” up measured from hub center to the fender from stock. With my tall tires, that’s probably another 1-1.5”. The rear is not adjustable. It’s about 2.5-2.8”” hub center to fender.
@@apb0309 these are 255/80/17 Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws. I really wanted those tall boy pizza cutter style tires to reduce rolling resistance but still have that ground clearance. It works out to about 33.07”
@@lexus_offroad_adventures Okay cool, I like the look of yours! I ordered some Nitto Ridge Grapplers, 285/70/17 and they're going on some grey TRD Pro wheels (I know, basic..) I'm a little concerned they may look too big but on the forums and other videos, they seem to look pretty good.
Hey so I got a question , can u use the third one even though if u don't have a heavy bumper or winch . Would but mess up my suspension ? Planning on going the third setting like how u doing it. My front metal bumper gonna be awhile to come
Yeah you can, it’ll just be a bit stiffer in the front than the factory thinks is best, but doesn’t mean it’ll be bad. It won’t mess anything up, you just have to remember to get an alignment after any suspension changes
Hey bro, I've been watching because I picked up a cheap 2003 gx470. Have you come across any headers you want to install or are you running all stock exhaust? I'm looking for something that will clear the steering shaft. thanks!
Thanks for watching! I believe the go-to headers that everyone goes to when the stock ones start leaking are the Doug Throley long tubes: www.urdusa.com/thy-563y-ls-c-doug-thorley-long-tube-header-4runner-gx470-2005-2009-4-7l-v8/ I am currently running all stock exhaust because I really enjoy the quiet ride since my hatchback daily has a loud exhaust but we’ll see. Maybe I’ll add some noise in the future.
GX470 Mods & Maintenance give me a text and I’ll send you a pic of the stock v6 4.0 exhaust manifold vs the stock 4.7 manifold and you’ll see why you’ll want to get those headers sooner than later 🙀 315-350-6096. -matt. I’m actually putting the 4.7l into my FJ cruiser at the moment 👽
Wheel spacers widen the track of the vehicle which helps resist tipping over when off road. Plus, it makes the tire fill out the fender well more, which looks better.

Thanks for this! I’m a new gx owner . It’s so nice to see this work at a “regular “ guy level. I go thru the same “Hackery” because I’m too stubborn.
Love it. Thanks for watching! Congrats on your GX
Nice, thanks for sharing. I have the same pro lift kit coming in the mail for my GX. Your video gives me an idea of what I’ll be getting into 👍👍
Awesome! You can also watch the install video where i cover the rear suspension more in-depth: th-cam.com/video/-SG0ZmvaqD4/w-d-xo.html
Nice video and thanks for making it. How do you know how to orient the bottom bolt flange with the top hat before releasing the spring compressor?
The top hat has three bolts. That bottom bolt flange needs to be oriented perpendicularly in between two of those bolts. I really just eyeballed it and it worked out but would definitely recommend taking pics and marking down with a pen where it was so it can go back the same way.
Did you use the stock top hats?
Diff drop?
The running board u got there. What does it called? Thanks
They are rock sliders from White Knuckle Off-Road
Thanks
Hi. Thanks for sharing. What year models for the GX 470 are coil overs and which are Torsion bars?
Thanks

Do you have the total lift height on the front? Can you adjust the rear lift also?

What size tires u got there?
Back then I had 255/80/17s
I bought the same lift a few weeks ago and I plan on installing it soon. What setting should I make the front coils to be level with the rear?
Nice! The second groove from bottom will get you level.
@@lexus_offroad_adventures Also, what tire size are you running?

@@apb0309 yeah the TRDs are considered “basic” for a reason. They just look great. Should be a solid setup
Did you ever have to do sway bar drop down relocation brackets? Or is it fine with the stock location
Yes I did the front sway bar spacers

Lol how'd you get the spring compressor out, beat it too death......?
Lol I removed the threaded rod and kinda rotated the blocks out (used some gear oil I had laying around to help get those corners that last bit out)
@@lexus_offroad_adventures i took it apart and assembled it using the cars weight... that's compress or should i say the springs are not a match..
Are those 33s ?
Yep this is when I had 33s
what tire size are you running? It looks great!
Thanks! 255/80/17. Tall skinnies
Hi nice video, did you use after market UCA? Or stock UCA?
Thanks! Aftermarket UCA
how are you liking the lift and uca so far ?
It’s perfect. No issues. Best bang for buck setup there is.
Great because that’s what I’m about to install!
Lol the way you talk about how sketchy it is makes me not want to install it myself
Haha it was just the spring compressing part. Just get a quality set of spring compressors and use common sense with them. Should be no problem
Hell yeah looks way better
a tip : you can watch movies at Flixzone. I've been using them for watching a lot of movies during the lockdown.
@Jonas Colton yea, been watching on Flixzone for since december myself :)
