    The X100V is just a simple, pleasure of a camera to use. If I was asked that same question, I would absolutely say the X100V. I have so many cameras to choose from and this is the most fun to use for everyday, casual images that gets out of the way because it’s never in the way.

    Pros pretty consistently want their fun camera to feel different than their work camera, to get them out of their box, to be a different experience altogether. And it helps if it looks good and makes you want to pick it up. For me it was film rangefinders, Yashica, then Zorky. Now it is the Nikon Zf that makes me want to pick it up.

    This is the exact problem most TH-camrs don’t tackle, but it’s so important to normal users. Thank you for addressing this topic! I use an FX3 for professional video projects, but it’s not a camera I want to grab everyday. So for fun, I choose the Sigma FP with the EVF because that’s the main feature the FX3 is lacking. For photo, I either go with a Leica M240 with a small vintage lens, or the Fuji X30 which has the perfect body and lens design of any compact camera.

    I have a Fuji x100f that I used for a "just for fun" and travel camera for 2 or 3 years, but I bought a Fui xe4 this year. I realized that although the 100f was forcing me to experiment a lot with framing and story telling because of the fixed lens, it was also leading me to miss a lot of shots due to the lack of a zoom lens. I like prime lenses don't get me wrong, but WOW the xe4 with the 18-55 f2.8-4 small kit lens is amazing and so fun to use. You get the fun and feel of the x100 series but with a lot more flexibiity, so for me the xe4 is the perfect fun, travel, street and lifestyle photography camera. Will I use either of them for a paid shoot, I doubt it, but for everything that involves having a good time with photography, xe4 all the way.

    We watched this video on our TV the other day. We are not youtubers, but just amateur hiking photographers, who between the two of us shoot wildlife, landscapes, flora, fauna, other hikers on the trail, hiking activities such as putting on a tent, etc. We would have loved to see someone responded that Pentax K-3 iii monochrome is what they have as a fun camera. We were watching a video on it by other youtubers and thought that that would be the camera that serious photographers should lay their hands on to have fun.

    I shot digital my entire life. But then I found my grandpas old Canon AE1 and I love it! It's just so much fun to think about how you get the best shot in this location because taking multiple is pretty expensive. While shooting my first roll of film I didn't even know if this camera was working correctly. It took me about 2 months to fill the roll of Portra 400. When I got it developed and digitalized it was an amazing expierience seeing pictures I completely forgot about and they looked amazing. So yeah, it has to be film for me

  • @michaelmao6180

    For me, photography is purely for fun. I have a busy day job and when I pick up a camera I want to enjoy using it. From that perspective, I don't care about the latest and greatest features (though you always drool over them when watching reviews), and I don't need the best quality a camera can offer. I just want to feel connected to the world around me, take great pictures and video, and share the joy and the beauty that you saw. I used to exclusively own a Fuji X100T, and though I loved shooting with it, I still find myself missing the versatility of an interchangeable lens camera as it's my only lens. The X100 series is a great second camera, but it can be limiting if it's your only camera. I now use a Fuji XT4 and loves it. I mostly stick with the 33mm f1.4, which is small and light and versatile enough that it's almost like the X100 series, but I can always swap on another lens when I need a different focal length. The tactile feeling and the retro looks are all there, and the Fuji system is small and light enough for me to not bother bringing it out with me.

    Pentax Optio M50. My first digital camera. Its so small.
    Got one of my favourite photos with it. Only 8mp and horrible quality but it captured such a unique moment. I was in my kayak on a calm sea and the sun was low. Entire sky was red and yellow and all the colour reflected on the water surface. The camera being so portable allowed me to take the photo before the sun was below the horizon. This was before phone cameras was even a thing. It was great to have it with me on my journeys.
    Today I would say the most fun camera is the one I have with me, so either the smartphone camera or the canon R6.

    I have been using the Nikon zf c for the last year. If you're looking into a fun digital camera, I can recommend it. I work on professional photography sets, and everyone assumes it's analogue. Also, on holiday it's not so much in your face as a dslr or a regular mirrorless camera.

    Mine would be the Canon A470.
    Sentimental as it's my family's first digital camera, runs on 2x AA batteries, uses an old tiny CCD sensor that just looks different, and a flash you have to use because of its poor dynamic range and unusable ISO above 400. Pure point-and-shoot.

    I just purchased two new cameras, dji osmo pocket 3 and insta360 go 3… and of these two cameras I have more fun with is the Go3, I never have so much fun using this camera like other camera in my whole life, the size and magnetic of this camera makes so versatile that no other camera has. For me this is the most unique camera release in years. Don’t shoot 4k, DR is not that great and is terrible in low light, but that ways you can use it makes you doesn’t care about quality and the quality is not that bad for the size. Other great feature this camera has is that when is not attached in the pod you can wirelessly monitor your footage. This is a must buy for everyone that has kids and also is a great camera to pair with your main camera for vlogging.

    • @NathanTrimbach
      @NathanTrimbach ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's not why people who love Fuji are attracted to them though. The colors and shooting experience that's more analog are the deeper reasons.

    • @bigtiger567
      @bigtiger567 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NathanTrimbach color science is subjective. Film simulation is interesting indeed. This is probably the biggest feature of fuji. the analog feeling is a big selling point. Olympus and Lumix cameras are also retro with way better ergonomics than Fuji in my opinion. (Btw, Fuji didn't make cameras before. Their retro design is copied from others)

    • @DannyLebsock
      @DannyLebsock ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bigtiger567Fuji has been making cameras since the 1930s. Ergonomics are subjective too. For me Olympus and Panasonic have missed the mark by making cameras that have retro designs without the thing I personally want from a “retro” camera which is traditional controls ie aperture ring and shutter speed dial. I learned how to shoot on film and much prefer the classic control layout to PASM mode dials. If Olympus made the Pen F with classic controls I would have bought one in an instant.

    I think people tend to go back to the lower tier and analog gear to have fun is because they need passive limitation and challenge to find the new involvement to have fun, I think the better way is to have an active mind in every aspect in life, you don't have to go backward but you can go forward to have fun too, the actual not escape but active you make it kind of fun, you can try to find new perspective, philosophy, set new goals, change setting, put manual lens and so on and you still can have fun with your work gears! Some say Sony isn't fun but some say it is, maybe it's depend and the balance if you know what's out there and only access to what you have. And some think they will have fun if they go with Leica and Hasselblad but it might just be a desire and curiousity and once they have it, it's not much more than just an escape and possibility, your perfect workable camera has limitation to have fun and barrier, these fun analog and lower tier cameras have their quirks to make them fun but then there will be new barrier that you won't like or find it fun with, again, have a active, many perspectives and so on kind of mind make you find fun in everything!
