  • @slow_runner

    The thing with boyz now is that if you run them as Goffs, they're downright scary on the charge. You don't need a big mob either, as even a minimum squad of 10 with a Nob can put out frankly menacing numbers. With WAAAGH! and a charge, you're looking at 36 S5 AP-1 attacks plus whichever kind of pain the Nob is dishing out. With exploding sixes that's something like 30 hits. Throw a Warboss into the mix and oh boy, that bunch is going to krump! And the same goes for Stormboyz, Kommandos and heck even Burnas (who are actually super scary now with Goffs as they get S5 AP-2 with a charge and the stratagem!). Honestly everything in Goffs is pretty freaking amazing in melee, even Deffkotpas (27 attacks at S6 AP-1 on the charge with WAAAGH! on)!

    I played in a tournament on Tuesday against new gray knights. My beastboss on squigisaur did 15 wounds to grey knight grandmaster. My shokkjump dragster dropped 8 terminators. My scrapjet rammed him other character and mortal wounded him to death. The boys are back!

    I'm finding the mek gunz to work relatively well when you call a speed waaagh as the extra ap effects all vehicles, mega kannons at -4 ap or smasha gunz at -5 is quite nice. Morale is still a huge issue given and you're probably better just using this on dreads or battlewagons but it does help.

  • @dave-macleod

    I love Squighog boyz so much. When I saw 25ppm I thought they were ridiculously undercosted but putting them on the table they are actually fairly hard to manoeuvre around terrain with a 10" move which balances it out a bit. They are still very cheap for how tough/killy they are though, and bomb squigs seems like they might be a good reason to break the Blast threshold and run 3x6!

    • @MrKehoeOUT

  • @argentumvulpus6060
    @argentumvulpus6060 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    In regards to mek guns, there is a good argument for most of the guns. From a competitive standpoint d3 shots from the smasha gun is good vs the d6 mega kannon because you have the potential of killing your own unit with the mega kannon... if wounded you could self destruct a mega kannon and force yourself to take a moral test that causes another gun to run away, but the smasha whilst having less shots does not have this problem.
    In a friendly setting, the bubblechukka gives people who miss the old ork randomness that fix, so they can enjoy themselves too, whilst competitively whilst random effect also makes your opponents targeting priority much harder, as they don't know if those will be a threat or not, whether they have a horde or elite force you have the potential to damage either

    Idea for Gretchin: Change "Diminutive" to -1 to hit. More movement. And if at least 1 Runtherd is on the battlefield, if more than one unit of Gretchin was removed due to morale, return those models (not ones removed because of wounds) combined into one (or more if over 30 models) unit to either your deployment zone or near the Runtherd at the beginning of your next turn.

    • @DT-ce1fb
      @DT-ce1fb 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're Deathskulls and take a runtherd he can stand in the middle of the Gretchen. The runtherd has objective secured because he's infantry and the cheap gretchen give you bodies and protect the character from being killed. That's probably the 'best' way to run them.

    I totally agree with you guys that the old version of mob rule essentially made Orks immune to morale and that was silly.
    Personally I wish that the current mob rule was something like "if a model in this unit were to be lost due to combat attrition roll a d6, on a 6 that model does not run. Add 1 to this roll for every 10 Ork models within 6 inches (to a max of +3)" **those distances might not be good** this way when surrounded by 30 other models Orks have a 3+ to ignore the combat attrition test. Morale will still hurt but this would mitigate it slightly
    Then bosses or even the LoWs could also add to this roll (Ghaz gives a flat +3), you could make vehicles count as 5 models so that your buggies, Mek gunz, etc get some benefit too. Idk something like this makes Orks better when they create critical mass but doesn't ruin more independent specialist mobs. My only worry is that this would slow things down a lot, but there's probably a way to simplify this idea

    Bomb Squigs have a direct historical equivalent. In WW2, the Soviets would train dogs to look under tanks for food, and on the day of battle they would strap a bomb to their backs and let them loose ahead of a German assault.

    Personally I think the Hunta Rig and Kill Rig are a little undercosted for the stat lines.
    The Kill Rig especially could do with a points bump as for me it's an auto pick over the Hunta Rig.
    Perhaps I'll be proven wrong once the models come out and people start actually using them in games.
    But I dunno they just seem to do everything a Battlewagon can do and then some more on top. They're about as shooty as the Gunwagon and as good in close combat as the Bonebreaker. Transport models and can take Frazzle which does a bunch of mortal wounds to everything within 9 inches of the Kill Rigs large base.
    The Squigosaur warboss also seems a touch undercosted for his stat line. He's fast, tough, hard to target due to his wound total and extremely good in melee. Not sure if there's any argument for taking the Beast snagga warboss on foot outside of fluffy/thematic lists.

Same for the squig-hog boys, mek gunzs etc.. Just small units otherwise chances are way to high to have big morale losses. That said, i prefer beast snagga boyz in that size over the normal boyz. I don`t quite get the argument, that it`s better to run a small unit of boyz instead of a big one, due to morale. Since the damage depends on the attacking unit, you will loose the same amount of boyz, regardless of the size of the unit. If you fail the morale test, you will loose another model + x models. The chance of rolling 1s is the always the same per dice. A squad of 10 boyz is wiped out in no time, a bigger squad has at least the chance to survive longer to reach the enemy or hold an objective for another 1 or 2 rounds. I get the point though, that it is less attractive for the other player to concentrate the fire on a smaller unit. On the other hand, these are shots not fired on other (more valuable?) units...

    Ghaz has been hard nerfed. Sure he can call a great waaagh but mixing infantry and vehicles was, in previous codex not a good idea. He only fits in to so many different great builds that can benefit from both waaaghs.
    But his worst offender is, that he cant be healed anymore. mix that with the fact he is now slower as you can only advance and charge once with him during the waaagh and not always, that means you have a slower ghaz, who cant be healed, and doesnt buff boys as much as he used to.

    I disagree on the verdict for the flash gitz. They may not look good at first glance - but they're wonderful as badmoons.
    Heavy weapons makes them range 30
    Badmoons strat makes 6's hit twice
    Flashgitz strat makes them shoot twice (and still hit twice on 6's)
    lucky 6's to wound makes the shot ap -3
