    Just did the engine oil, trans, and rear, and as always tire rotation on my 2012 and it took like 1.5 hours start to driving. Easy-peasy.

    You guys are very cool. Speaking calmly and detail oriented with lots of handy tips. Did not understand why the 'filler' cap has to be removed first, unless just precaution in case you can not drain and need to put the filler cap back on with at least the old fluid? I only know how to change engine oil. Learning a lot from you and glad to see your son working with you. That is good bond dudes!

      Yes, exactly right on the filler cap. Imagine if you drained it all out and then couldn’t add fluid! Thanks for watching.

    I know I'm late to this thread...
    In July 2023, my local Honda dealer charged my wife $90 to change the engine oil and filter on her 2018 Honda CR-V LX AWD.
    The Dealer wanted an additional $560 to:
    - rotate the tires
    - flush the brake fluid
    - change the rear differential fluid
    I think that price may have caused me to have a stroke.
    I took care of those three maintenance items myself, in my home garage, in 114° heat, without A/C, using Honda brake fluid and Honda rear differential fluid. The Honda fluids cost a total of about $47.
    Now I'm a fat old man, and it was really hot 🔥, but I still got it all done in around 3 hours.
    Good things! 👍

    • @TomsTinkeringandAdventures
      @TomsTinkeringandAdventures  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That heat would have had me melting, but the cost savings was worth it I’m sure! Honda brake fluid is a total scam, by the way.

    • @jpg_sig10

      @TomsTinkeringandAdventures
      Yeah, it gets pretty warm here in the Phoenix, AZ valley in the summer.
      Once upon a time, I recall Acura / Honda requiring their rear differential fluid, only, to be used in their AWD vehicles.
      Then they added their automatic transmissions to their fluid only requirement... then their brake fluid... then their engine coolant.
      $$$$$ keeps flying out the door.
      I still buy after-market third-party engine oil and filters.
      Good things! 👍

      @@TomsTinkeringandAdventures typically I’ll use the Fram Tough Guard or the Ultra Synthetic on my Honda’s. I’ve never had a problem with either of them, and that’s cutting them open after the oil change interval. I use these as the vehicles call for 0W - 20 full synthetic, and the filters held up nicely intact.

      ocean well I am pretty bad at delaying maintenance myself, so maybe not the best person to ask! 😂 I’m just following the maintenance minder trying to break my bad habits. It’s fairly easy to change and not expensive, so give it a shot. You’ll sleep better at night knowing it’s done.

    I have a 2016 CR-V EX-L
    I always change my oil and filter with it on the ground, plenty of room. I also change my filter on both A and B service. I use Royal Purple 0w-20 and Royal Purple filter.
    *EDITED* You can also reset your maintenance minder thru the multifunction display menu above the radio using the steering wheel controls on the left

      My CRV has idling vibration issue (when I'm at a red light for example), it's annoying but from what I've read it doesn't affect the longevity of the car and not a major issue so I just deal with it, somewhat annoying but for me it's not always.
