It's great to see people still running MHW after all this time! I personally lost motivation in this game during my Alatreon attempts. I called it quits and moved on to other games. My runs are amateurish in comparison to yours and other lancers out there, but I think I fulfilled myself with everything pre-Alatreon. I just burned myself out kind of like how Mathalos did :(
Thank you, Private Roach. There's nothing wrong with getting burned out and taking a break. If you find this kind of activity frustrating-which I definitely feel sometimes-then it's healthy to switch to something that you enjoy more. Have a great time with Valorant and Valheim!
I hated alatreon too, once I got his set and weapons..I loved on and I don’t want to know anything about that fucker! (Only monster I just can’t kill..fatalis is a piece of cake compared to him..)
Ah, what an fantastic run! 🔥 Both the fight and the nice soothing music in the background really made this run so satisfying and amazing to watch. Good job👍!
I appreciate your kind words, Tanivama. I apologize for the late reply-this last weekend has been slightly different due to the start of the new month. Your most recent Lance montage really impressed me! Speaking of which, I intended re-watch it and share my thoughts 😊
I love how you stacked your "Acala's Grace" for the swag head dunks. This is like MHWIB combo MAD, if only Lance could Piercing Rain when monster is down...
I'm very joyed to hear that you appreciate Lorde as well, Dru! How did you receive her newest album Solar Power? I personally have been listening to it quite a lot in my downtime 🎶
@@Yanxi I’ll be frankly honest, I’ve only started digging through her new album recently. I stumbled upon this speedrun video a week ago and I couldn’t get enough of the song ever since. The new album is definitely different compared to the last two but I’ve really been enjoying this 3rd one. Her voice really suits this genre and I can’t get enough of it. This album is definitely something I’ll be listening to during my downtime as well haha. So thank you for introducing me to it!
@@Dru_JP And thank you for bringing up something that I love chatting about! I know of your name and your strong reputation from our mutual friends, so I am looking forward to seeing your debut video. See you around, Dru ✌️
Thank you so much Jemdhar, I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed my choice of music and were entertained by the hunt! I sincerely apologize for responding to you so late; I sometimes forget to respond to comments on my older videos. Please be assured that I appreciate your comment very much. Here's to the both of us being Lorde lovers! 🎶
Thank you so much, ZOne! The air dunks were incredibly hard to learn and get the hang of, but after a lot of practice, I've gotten the hang of the thrust counting and head flinch management. Looking forward to your Tempered Furious George hunt!
Oh wow! Those dunks and the moments that sync'ed perfectly with the music are so satisfying! I can relate to that divine feeling. haha. That's a quality run you got there Yanxi. Great job!
Thank you dearly, Ms. Cake! That is such a heartwarming compliment to receive 😊 I was inspired by your extensive descriptions and closed captions to improve my description in this video. The Lance naturally doesn't allow me to create as detailed scripts as you do, but it's really cool how both our primary attack chains have three uniform hits, so we share the characteristic of being able to count our damage. Looking forward to viewing your Devil Gene Nergigante video! Also, if you have any Discord groups that you believe I would mesh well with, feel free to send me an invite to them 👋
@@Yanxi Oh, the detailed descriptions are so educational. I'm so happy and honored that I could inspire you and other hunters to showcase what went though our minds while fighting a monster by writing elaborate descriptions. The world must know! :D I read through it and I'm thankful for the time-stamps you put in there as well. There are things I would've missed if I blinked. I don't know about my scripts being more detailed though. haha. I'd believe you'd get along swimming well in the primary Discord group I belong to and we're totally honored and excited to have you there. I'll dm you the link on steam.
Thank you very much, Indomie! You're a monster of an SnS player, and I know that it's not even your main weapon. I hope your internet situation gets better so we can play together sometime!
Haha, why thank you, KCGemini! I updated the description with an analysis of the dice rolls in this hunt. Although I am not the original observer of the dice roll concept and consequently might have applied it incorrectly, I was able to conclude that our dice rolls are somewhat similar to each other's. The main differences between our hunts are that I have a lousy 2 roll at the very beginning, but I also have a fifth air dunk and never received any claw staggers. It seems that these events balanced each other out and resulted in us having similar times. Of course, your control of Gold Rathian is much better than mine-I need a lot more practice in responding to its sideflips.
@@Yanxi She's a stubborn one for sure. I've always had some trouble adjusting to the 3D space with her side flips as well. Oddly enough, I didn't have this problem in 4th gen MH, but maybe that's me getting old, haha. IIRC, I think a 2'2X is possible with the best rolls, but RNG patience always ends up being the true test. (loved the detailed explanation!)
谢谢朋友!I encourage you to try the hunt for yourself and see how the air dunks go for you. With Fatalis equipment, it will take approximately 8 hits to the head after the initial wounding attack to reach the first air dunk.
Have fun, Mr. Coombs ~ The best way to begin is by getting in a wound attack plus *8 high thrusts* to Gold Rathian's head. Once you land the seventh thrust, wait for Rathian to start flying, and then the eighth thrust should cause an air dunk.
Much appreciated, Crystal Wire! Those Velkhana hunts with you and the others were some very fun experiences. I hope to be by your side again against Velkhana in the near future!
@@qawsqaws5284 I will explain the use of the Shield Attack in the context of Guard Dash follow-ups, since that is when you have to make the crucial decision between using Leaping Thrust, Shield Attack or Hop. As you're learning Guard Dashes, you might find the follow-ups to it a bit confusing and counter-intuitive, since it only allows for a Shield Bash or Leaping Thrust afterward. Here are the four follow-up options following a Guard Dash and when you should use each of them. Following a Guard Dash, the follow-up you choose depends on your desired positioning. *1. Hold Guard and continue to block:* Following a Guard Dash you are free to block for as long as you want just by holding Guard. Use this if you are anticipating an attack after your Guard Dash. *2. Leaping Thrust:* Use the Leaping Thrust if you would like to extend the distance of your Guard Dash while getting in a hit. Leaping Thrust is not necessarily weak: its Motion Value (MV) is 8 * 3 = 24; Mid Thrust I/II have a MV of 20 and High Thrust I/II have a MV of 22. This means that if all three hits of Leaping Thrust connect, they are stronger than either of your two basic thrusts. Furthermore, Leaping Thrust replaces Mid Thrust I or High Thrust I in the combo, meaning that you combo into Mid Thrust II or High Thrust II immediately following a Leaping Thrust. This is good because it allows you to reach the strongest Mid/High Thrust III in approximately the same amount of time as three basic thrusts. Leaping Thrust can also be used to traverse medium distances by chaining Guard Dash > Leaping Thrust > Repeat. This can be done infinitely and restores your stamina during the Leaping Thrust. The speed of this traversal is roughly the same as Level 1 Charge. Note that this traversal method trips your teammates (Leaping Thrust requires Flinch Free 3 to negate), so a more multi-player friendly traversal method is Guard Dash > Hop. *3. Shield Attack:* Use Shield Attack if your positioning following the Guard Dash is desired. I.e., you are perfectly positioned after the Guard Dash and don't want to move anywhere. Shield Attack was never used for its damage or blunt stun potential; it is used because it keeps your character in place following the Guard Dash and exits the Guard Dash follow-ups, effectively resetting your combo and allowing you to use the standard Thrust combos. Another not so well-known benefit of the Shield Attack is that it allows for a roughly 60° angle adjustment before your subsequent thrust. This is an extremely important benefit. It's hard to notice this on Keyboard + Mouse because the WASD keys do not allow for fine-tuning. If you are using a controller, however, you will notice that following a Shield Attack, you can rotate your Left Stick and make your character change directions in a 60° cone to help you aim your next thrust. Combined with the property of resetting your combo, Shield Attack is an extremely useful move. Note that Leaping Thrust also has this 60° cone aiming property, so keep that in mind when aiming Leaping Thrust too. *4. Hop:* Use Hop following a Guard Dash if you are not quite in the desired positioning following the Guard Dash and using Leaping Thrust would place you too far or put you in a dangerous situtation. The hop also exits the Guard Dash follow-ups, so it is also great for resetting your combo and allowing you to use the standard Thrust combos. The advantage that Hop has over the Shield Attack is that the Hop allows you to rotate your character 360° to aim your next Thrust, whereas the Shield Attack only allows for 60° aiming. This can be useful if the monster is positioned behind you after a Guard Dash. As hinted in #2, Guard Dash > Hop is your most multi-player friendly traversal method because it doesn't trip other players.
