There are a few other dark moments like when the Autobot Guzzle kills some pirate goon guy and then drinks his Energon, Roadbuster killing several trainees in very gruesome and painful ways and then throws them down a pit shaped like the god of death's head, and that one time Tarn tricked a large group of prisoners into thinking they were going in a space bridge but they ended up being put into a smelter so their bodies can be reused as shells for Decepticon sparks. And then Knockout and Starscream put Dark Energon and Synthetic energon in him at the same time. Leading to a energon zombie/vampire with a Xenomorph-like second mouth that sucks the energon out of bots, turning THEM into the same thing.
Last stand of The Wreckers has two moments that really stuck with me. Topspin getting tortured for shits and giggles by the Decepticon Stalker, to the point he was completely dismembered, missing an eye, and having his bottom jaw torn out, and he was still alive… The other moment was when Impactor locked himself up with the defeated members of Squadron X (the Anti Wreckers) and basically executed them via gun shot to the head. Kinda makes the lines of Good Autobots and Bad Decepticons very Blurry.
Topspin stuff is really rough, especially considering that his brother, Twintwist, shared in the agony due to the branched spark. LSOTW as a whole is probably the most violent, brutal, chaotic piece of TF media. It's the "Vietnam war movie" section of the TF franchise, I suppose.
One time the Senate and the Functionist Council put everybody into strict castes based on alt-mode, and also started disappearing people who had an issue with that. One Senator found this to be generally a bad thing and became a giant robot Charles Xavier for a bit, before being arrested by the council. They chopped off his face and replaced it with a lens, they chopped off his hands and replaced them with claws, and then they carved out all of his emotions and left him operating solely on logic. That bot was Shockwave. He proceeded to carry out a multi-million-year scheme to solve Cybertron's energy crisis by collapsing the entire universe into a singularity that would fuel the planet forever. So yeah it was probably a bad idea to do shadowplay on him.
The worst thing for transformers was The Movie which opened the gates to robots dying horribly despite their ability to sustain damage and survive all the way to complete dismemberment in both the comics and cartoon. The only real exception was when Prime needed a cosmotron to live and it proved to be something that couldn’t be repaired or manufactured and was time sensitive as well for just one episode. Afterwords, it seems Furman took advantage of Hasbro not caring about individual bots who were no longer selling toys and slaughtered them by the dozens, with later generations of writers and artists being traumatized by The Movie and late G1 and G2 and continuing the trend of gruesome robot death for its own sake.
To be fair, they did show that Prowl was literally melted from the inside out after he got shot. I think the implication was that was supposed to happen to all of them.
@@OtakuUnitedStudio well yeah, they were clearing out all the old toys, in needlessly violent ways to show that there was no going back. Prime faded to grey, Starscream crumbled to dust. There were even robots being eaten or dissolved in acid. Then you had the new toys being pulled limb from limb or blown apart and then easily repaired a few scenes later (Kup and Ultra Magnus). The movie depicted the ability for a character to permanently die as based on their age within the toy cycle instead of on any driving narrative considerations. But, despite it all, the Movie is an incredible experience and one that Transformers as a franchise probably needed to have succeeded for 4 decades.
Honorable mention: Rampage/Protoform X from Beast Wars. He leveled Colony Omicron and ate people from Colony Rugby. Depthcharge: “I have no time for you, X!” Rampage: “Like you had no time for Colony Rugby? You had friends there! Tasty ones too.”
Man, how could you not mention the DJD? One member's alt mode is an electric chair; another's alt mode is basically a smelting crucible (where victims would be smelted alive)... yeah, very disturbing stuff.
There were already some memorably dark moments in the Transformers movies and series that scared me as a kid. But when I finally read the comics for the first time, the violence was so gruesome to me that by the end of the robots in disguise series, my innocence was officially gone. I especially remember one part where Tarn put someone's brain in their mouth and then had his henchman grind him up alive. God, it still gives me chills thinking about it.
Beast Wars played it for laughs, but all the abuse that the Predacons put Waspinator through was pretty messed up. To the point that he was happy to be stranded on Earth alone. Poor guy.
@@beastmaster0934 oh, I completely forgot that part. I just remembered that Megatron put his spark in . . . Thrust? I'unno, there's a reason it's abbreviated BM . . . after removing it by force.
Mine had to be Sunder if you don't know who he is he was in the IDW comics if I'm correct but anyways his ability was he can turn people inside out and the strips of that comic was horrifying he had a friend who backstabbed him but then that friend got himself turned inside out and that was horrifying you can feel the pain he was going through
You forget to mention that...he's an Autobot, too. I don't know what's worse, the abilities, or the fact the dude is trusted enough to basically do his thing in the name of the greater good. Guess you need to keep tabs on the potential loose ends. That's what they did with Whirl, too, I believe, so it's not like this is the first time they recruited someone that would very clearly be a Decepticon in really any other timeline.
in the original script and in either the comic or novel version of transformers 2007 megatron was a cannibal who ate the sparks of transformers that he killed and even ate jazz's spark
There's also Dark Of The Moon prisoner execution where Que is trying to beg for his life and is just executed on the spot. It wasn't even a one shot on kill either it took one shot in his arm and his back to kill him.
How about breakdown getting captured by mech twice in prime. Mech wants to use cybertronian tech for themselves so they captured breakdown and forcefully took out one of his eyes but bulkhead saves him(he was convinced by miko that if he doesn’t rescue him there won’t be another time to fight him). The second time he actually died when arachnid ambushed him and dreadwing so mech just used his corpse as a walking life support machine. He then gets experimented on by knockout and starscream and gets transformed into a zombie vampire
Speaking of mass moider ... The Underbase Saga from Marvel Comics, where Bob Budiansky killed off every Transformer who didn't have an active toy on the shelves (all the ones pre-Headmaster/Targetmaster/Pretender), including the Seacons who had only been introduced three issues beforehand! It wasn't even that interesting, there were so many deaths, multiples per panel that it actually started to drag. It was just "Okay, that guy's dead, those guys are dead, these other guys are dead ..."
There’s a transformers comic where Unicron’s essence crashes on a planet, and all of his evil energy makes the inhabitants on the planet go insane and they all begin to kill each other. Some even start to eat each other alive too. This is definitely the darkest moment in transformers.
Speaking of Lobotomies, there was that storyline in IDW's Re-Generation 1 where Megatron gathers a bunch of his former soldiers, lobotomizes them and turns them into a zombie army. Not only that, but he does the same to Starscream, but leaves his consciousness active so Starscream can see everything that is happening but is powerless to do anything. Of course prior to that there's the body horror nightmare amalgamation of Megatron and Ratchet getting fused together. And my personal nightmare: that time in the UK comic Mindwipe used these little Buddha statues to brainwash humans, then it turned out they were all alive when they attacked the Autobots who had been investigating things.
I panicked and cried when Bumblebee (basically but not technically) ripped Ravages spine out of his ass.. Ive always been sensitive and empathetic and that fUCKED ME UP as a 10 year old
War for Cybertron: Earthrise had some very dark moments too. Mass forced sacrifice for Energon, forced labor in fear of being killed off for previously stated reason, the Quintessons, and more that I can’t think of. Also genocide in WFC: Siege.
Wasn't there a comic where the Dinobots got forcibly combined into a giant killing machine that wiped out pretty much all of the Cybertronians? Because I certainly remember it. Also, Black Arachnia's origin in Transformers Animated was gnarly as shit.
You didn't even mention Overlord. He conquired a priosn by himself then turned into a battle arena and gave the inamtes a false sense of hope that if they win 10 fights they can get out except that after they win 10 fights they're given the option to either face him in combat or kill themselves, most chose to kill themselves than face Overlord in combat. Or Tyrest the crazy judge racist judge who wante to thanos snap the transformers. Or Sentinel, your averege boomer american.
Let's not forget the whole over arching of Last Stand of the Wreckers. The whole computer judging whether or not a bot would go Decepticon and Prowl part in it - yeeeee-ah. One of the many times one would be side-eyeing Prowl.
Their Personalities Was Something Not A Lot Of Fans Didn't Like. While In the Comics They were Less annoying And Don't Have Their personality unlike in the movie ROTF, And They Don't Speak As Much.
You, Good Sir, are a comedic genius! Man, I cannot breathe sometimes! I love it! I own the comics where Pharma goes organ harvester. Man, Tarn is a scary client, isn't he? I collected a lot of IDW's Transformers books and man, dark isn't the word for some of this stuff!
The G1 episode where they meet Sandstorm. Ultra Magnus says, about the planet's powercore "I've never seen anything so beautiful. How do we destroy it?" It always just seemed absolutely crazy to me. Either weird character development or bad scriptwriting. I suspect the latter. lol
They perverted the "Child Bot Wheelie" in the Bay formers... it hurt the movie in my opinion because I'm sure fun rhymes would have been welcome, Guess their staff couldn't rhyme in time to make good decisions. Lol Anyways, Love you Mr.NormalPerson! Would love to talk Transformers with ya since it's a little obsession of mine. Haha
How about on Transformers Prime where Mech tears Breakdown apart and puts a human in him, or the Thirst episode from the same show. man TF Prime gets dark...
They basically have run with the G1 toon idea to the extreme. You can decapitate, mutilate, body horror, and eviscerate robots in full color, and it's not offensive...cause robots.
Bit of an obscure character here but by far the darkest and creepiest thing I’ve seen in transformers was the character sunder, for context he was an autobot brain surgeon who went, he would then go on mass killing sprees for fun with is unique ability to turn bots INSIDE OUT, he was only in one comic and I would love to see him come back, its been a while since he invaded my nightmares
In Transformers the Movie there is a Quintesson pit of judgment where you would be tried for no reason and those who where guilty (everyone was guilty) where throne to a pit of sharticons that would eat you alive and what's whose is they would try anyone they could find, so if you where a cybertronian who crash landed on the planet you where basically dead.
I remember that, weren't we introduced to a character that was the last of their species right before they got summarily fed to the Sharkticons and consequently extincted?
The one that I believe is one of the most horrific moments in transformers history is in Cyberverse when Sky Byte apears for the first time, It's said that he caused a supernova that destroyed 7 civilizations and thousands of star systens, because of that a autobot called Jetfire decided to go after Sky Byte and avenge all of those who he killed because he cannot stop Sky Byte from starting the supernova. The two hunted eachother for thousands of years and during their fights they destroyed countless star systens and thousands opon thousands of races and civilizations. One of the most sad part of all this is that Sky Byte had no guilty or remorse for all of his actions and never cared about all the death and destruction that he caused acros the galaxy, in the words of Jetfire "Sky Byte is pure evil" Sadly we never had an animation or comics about all the caos (at least not that i remember) that they caused but for me it still one of the most horrific and sad events in Transformers history.
the Roadbuster Affair jumps to my mind immediately. Good ol' Tarantulas gaslighting an Autobot into a crazed murder spree against children, no big deal.
The fact that you mentioned cannibalism and I was like oh yeah like in that on comic! And then you mentioned two separate other cannibalism moments. Hmmm these guys must taste great or something
Yes, I can think of THE most horrific, heart-wrenching, stomach-churning moment in the entire history of the Transformers. It's the day when Michael Bay said "yes, I WILL make Transformers movies! I'll make lots of them!". Oh the humanity... the humanity......
all i could think about is "what about that time in IDW where Miles Mayhem was sitting and laughing in front of Blitzwings still alive... corpse and him sayinh "please... let me die..."
Theres also aligned Overair who is a cannibal There's everything that Chromedome does after him and Prowl Split up The Functionist council completely destroying Whirl's life. The shit Overlord did to Fort Max
When Grimlock was going to crush/murder the 3 humans in Desertion of the Dinobots is pretty bad and harrowing to think about. He only doesn't kill them because Swoop is vain enough to want to hear the humans talk about how brilliant the Dinobots are. It's very dark as Grimlock fully intended on killing them, and it always makes me wonder why I have never heard anyone mention it before.
City of Fear. Brilliant story from the Marvel run. Basically a self-contained zombie apocalypse. Pretty dark. Especially the "familiar face" in the back half of the story. Kid Me was not ready for that.
Isn't there a story line we're the decepticons are harvesting organic life's. There's one where the insecticons get addicted to eating organic life forms.
The thing is the beast machines scene is technically far more vile because megatron is trying to permanently absorb the sparks which are the soul of a transformer to obtain Godhood which I would argue is far worse then mundane cannibalism by a long shot.
What I find ironic is that Hasbro is selling these toys and making out Transformers is kid friendly yet in reality they’re fighting a war which pretty much involves brutality and shows the more darker sides of the transformer’s personalities and other dark events that happened before, during and after the war.
I mean to be fair, the Transformers is also like us human being, created with compassion, mind and free will, a sentient mecha beings, it's not some kind of human-made AI with no emotion or solely created to follow orders, they function like how we human function, while we are an organic meat, they are a metal but for them, their metal armor is the same thing as our skin and meat, so having various dark spot stories is not surprising, but we do however feel weird as we only think them as a robot and they 'shouldn't' be feel / do / capable of doing something like us human
7:41 I should mention that in transformers 07 there was supposed to be a scene where megatron eats jazz’s spark and then the dark of the moon game he nearly drained starscream of his energon
Sunder Sunder ,did a Blunder. Dear Sunder loves a good morning with a cup of refined energon and spines of half alive bots caught in his plunder. Sunder Sunder, did a Blunder. And Froid would become to all the leaks a sinister plumber. You forgot Sunder, you did a Blunder.
Regarding the Unicron bit, he's Unicron, his own personal tech is probably miles better than regular transformers, so I could see him having really damn good tech for hiding his giant metal ass
G1 cartoon episode "Dark Awakening," - beloved Optimus returns after his death in the '86 movie, but is discovered to have been reanimated by the Quintessons, who forced him to turn on the autobots. He manages to regain control of himself long enough to make a noble sacrifice crash himself and his ship into the Quints. The crash impact's explosions are staggered, and we see Optimus being blown apart in waves as he steadfastly steers the ship to the end. His final living moment we see half his face/head gone, and we hear his physical pain in his last words before oblivion... We lost him in the movie, only to get this shock sudden return in which he turns heel and later manages to revert via self sacrifice and gruesome death. Most ppl who saw this at the time were kids! (then of course, he's back the next episode to deal with the red infection hate plague so we forgave!)
omg bruh that transformer movie was wild bruh that gave me nightmares man like everyones just enjoying there day and all of a sudden a great evil planet that's alive just comes out of know where to eat the planet like man so many charcters died in that movie like dude megatron got killed by starscream like what dude i remember watching that with my dad when i was little omg that movie scared me like i sure everyones first impression after the movie was like, what heck did i just watch pretty good movie though
Sparks are souls! Not hearts, that is why the AllSpark is so dang powerful. To quote Rhinox "when a spark comes online, there is great joy. When one is extinguished, the Universe weeps." Beast Wars I love dearly, it had so much to it. Which is why in my mind Beast Machines is quite literally a cash grab. Rhinox would never do what he did, and don't get me started on wht it did to Ratrap! Brooklyn smart mouth turned into a freaking whiner!
Honestly just look at anything the Decepticon DJD has ever done. I mean the DJD has done so much that you could just make a list of the 40 worst things they have done.

The comics have always had some of the darkest stuff. From Tarantulas shrinking and popping out of a guy's head to anything to do with the DJD.
Ngl the Tarantulas one made me laugh at first, then did a gross double take, then laughed about it later. Very good meme template.
DJD are some wild mother fuckers
Honorable mention: Rampage/Protoform X from Beast Wars. He leveled Colony Omicron and ate people from Colony Rugby.
Depthcharge: “I have no time for you, X!”
Rampage: “Like you had no time for Colony Rugby? You had friends there! Tasty ones too.”
Man, how could you not mention the DJD? One member's alt mode is an electric chair; another's alt mode is basically a smelting crucible (where victims would be smelted alive)... yeah, very disturbing stuff.
Saving that stuff for my next vids, 😆
What does DJD mean?
@@eeveeofalltrades4780 The Decepticon Justice Division, where they specifically hunt traitors to the decepticon cause and kill and torture them.

Team fortress 2: Allow me to introduce myself
Ever heard of warhammer 40k?
There were already some memorably dark moments in the Transformers movies and series that scared me as a kid. But when I finally read the comics for the first time, the violence was so gruesome to me that by the end of the robots in disguise series, my innocence was officially gone. I especially remember one part where Tarn put someone's brain in their mouth and then had his henchman grind him up alive. God, it still gives me chills thinking about it.
I would recomend the horrific crimes of the DJD in the comics
When one transforms into a shredder and another into an electric chair, you're going to have some messed up stuff.
@@Alverant the boss literally sings you to death and that's the "chill" way of being killed, yet they longest and probably most maddening.
Beast Wars played it for laughs, but all the abuse that the Predacons put Waspinator through was pretty messed up.
To the point that he was happy to be stranded on Earth alone. Poor guy.
And then Megatron came back and killed him, according to Beast Machines.
@@nicholasfarrell5981
No, the primitive anthropoids got tired of having Waspinator around, so they kicked him off the planet.
Webworld was a crazy episode. That scene when Galvatron made a gun of random things was pretty funny though!
Taken offline by a cosmically inpowered starscream
There’s a transformers comic where Unicron’s essence crashes on a planet, and all of his evil energy makes the inhabitants on the planet go insane and they all begin to kill each other. Some even start to eat each other alive too. This is definitely the darkest moment in transformers.
when overlord or tarn are in the issue you know things about to go down
Speaking of Lobotomies, there was that storyline in IDW's Re-Generation 1 where Megatron gathers a bunch of his former soldiers, lobotomizes them and turns them into a zombie army.
Ive always been sensitive and empathetic and that fUCKED ME UP as a 10 year old
And then Ravage has the same thing happen to him AGAIN in the IDW comics.
But instead of Bumblebee doing it, it is Tarn, the leader of the DJD.
Empurata, Empurata, Empurata, what it did to Shockwave and Whirl along with countless other bots was truly horrific.
6:43 is the exact moment I wonder what the hell is in my coffee that moment is pure chaos🤣🤣 definitely liking and subscribing
FINALLY! someone talked about IDW transformers. in my opinion it's one of the best Transformer comic of all time
this man needs more subscribers than just 50k, come on guys!
@@trence5
Yeah, IDW Prowl is a total douchebag.
Yep. Why no Garrus-9 mention!
The most horrific thing they ever did in Transformers were the depictions of Skids and Mudflap in the movies. lol
Their Personalities Was Something Not A Lot Of Fans Didn't Like. While In the Comics They were Less annoying And Don't Have Their personality unlike in the movie ROTF, And They Don't Speak As Much.
Basically, anything involving IDW's stories about the Wreckers, the DJD, or the Functionist Council.
Happy to hear you're enjoying it!
The G1 episode where they meet Sandstorm. Ultra Magnus says, about the planet's powercore "I've never seen anything so beautiful. How do we destroy it?"
It always just seemed absolutely crazy to me.
Lol
Anyways, Love you Mr.NormalPerson!
Would love to talk Transformers with ya since it's a little obsession of mine. Haha
Small thing, Sparks are more the Souls of Transformers, theirs heart equivalent would be the Energon Pump.
Something that was horrific for me was in tfp when mech dismantled breakdown and use him like an ironman suit
oh yeah I forgot about that, that'll be in an upcoming vid.
"hey let's make a fun kids franchise about war and energy crisis!"
Literally Evangelion

THE BURPENING OF THE PRIMES!!!😂😂😂
The one that I believe is one of the most horrific moments in transformers history is in Cyberverse when Sky Byte apears for the first time, It's said that he caused a supernova that destroyed 7 civilizations and thousands of star systens, because of that a autobot called Jetfire decided to go after Sky Byte and avenge all of those who he killed because he cannot stop Sky Byte from starting the supernova.
The two hunted eachother for thousands of years and during their fights they destroyed countless star systens and thousands opon thousands of races and civilizations.
One of the most sad part of all this is that Sky Byte had no guilty or remorse for all of his actions and never cared about all the death and destruction that he caused acros the galaxy, in the words of Jetfire "Sky Byte is pure evil"
Sadly we never had an animation or comics about all the caos (at least not that i remember) that they caused but for me it still one of the most horrific and sad events in Transformers history.
This needs more views anyone who talks about TF comics must be seen
How about random Transformers being dropped into the acid and melting into nothing in the Transformers movie.
the Roadbuster Affair jumps to my mind immediately. Good ol' Tarantulas gaslighting an Autobot into a crazed murder spree against children, no big deal.
The fact that you mentioned cannibalism and I was like oh yeah like in that on comic! And then you mentioned two separate other cannibalism moments. Hmmm these guys must taste great or something
yum yum
Tarantulas erupting out of a bots head
What's worse, almost getting away from Unicron? Or actually escaping only for the damned Quintessons to feed you to their pets?
Yes, I can think of THE most horrific, heart-wrenching, stomach-churning moment in the entire history of the Transformers. It's the day when Michael Bay said "yes, I WILL make Transformers movies! I'll make lots of them!".
Oh the humanity... the humanity......
Bayverse is best verse

all i could think about is "what about that time in IDW where Miles Mayhem was sitting and laughing in front of Blitzwings still alive... corpse and him sayinh "please... let me die..."
Theres also aligned Overair who is a cannibal
There's everything that Chromedome does after him and Prowl Split up
The Functionist council completely destroying Whirl's life.
The shit Overlord did to Fort Max

"For them, it was the final day of existence... For me, it was nomnom time." Orson Welles probably.
AHH robots we writers can be as brutal as we can describe them and still be rated PG 13.
There was an autobot cannibal in the prime comics
When Grimlock was going to crush/murder the 3 humans in Desertion of the Dinobots is pretty bad and harrowing to think about. He only doesn't kill them because Swoop is vain enough to want to hear the humans talk about how brilliant the Dinobots are. It's very dark as Grimlock fully intended on killing them, and it always makes me wonder why I have never heard anyone mention it before.
I'll put it in a vid somewhere for sure.
@@MrNormalPerson nice! Expose Grimlock as the attempted murderer that he is!

Btw, who is that?
An Ogre from Total War Warhammer 3.
There's an issue in the old comic called the smelting pool it made blaster my favorite character I cried as a kid when I read it
Imma say it right now, Sunder should've been in the cannibal part.
And finally overlord in last stand of the wreckers and tarantulaas torturing roadbuster and eating his way out of his mind and body like a xenomorph
You should do Mech Cadets, Skull Island, and the new Gamera series
6:38 oh yeah I remember those demons from hell
Sparks aren't the equivalent to a heart, they're the equivalent to a soul that is located where the heart is until the transformer dies.
7:41 I should mention that in transformers 07 there was supposed to be a scene where megatron eats jazz’s spark and then the dark of the moon game he nearly drained starscream of his energon
3:58 ahem HOW THE HELL DID THAT DINOSAUR GET IN THE INSANE ISYLUM!??!?!!?
What music background was used in this video?
I know I'm late to the party, but *Breakdown* of TF prime needs his own video...!

We world is one of the best eps ever. Pure comedy. Love crazy galvs.
Not going to lie Rachets’s death in age of extinction still haunts me

Sparks are souls! Not hearts, that is why the AllSpark is so dang powerful. To quote Rhinox "when a spark comes online, there is great joy. When one is extinguished, the Universe weeps."
Beast Wars I love dearly, it had so much to it. Which is why in my mind Beast Machines is quite literally a cash grab. Rhinox would never do what he did, and don't get me started on wht it did to Ratrap! Brooklyn smart mouth turned into a freaking whiner!
IDW really took advantage of the fact that they're machines.
Honestly just look at anything the Decepticon DJD has ever done. I mean the DJD has done so much that you could just make a list of the 40 worst things they have done.
I thought sparks were more akin to souls, not hearts.
hmm, we've seen them extracted a few times so i think they're more like hearts
