In the fog of the cybertronian war we've seen good guys do bad things and bad guys do good, so what is it that actually makes the autobots the good guys?
They protect us puny earthlings, sure, but I reckon that its their willingness to give the things they hold most dear for the cause, often that's their own lives, but sometimes its even more than that.
So lets look at not only who is the most powerful, but what they've had to give to ensure that evil of the deceptions doesn't prevail.

Gotta love that Metroplex in Fall of Cybertron is pretty much universally loved. The scenes leading up to, and including his awakening, plus other random scenes, plus destroying the Warp Cannons, plus flattening Megatron, _plus_ him sacrificing himself so the Ark could escape were all _so well done._
I mean, sure, he’s _literally_ a walking city with enough weapons to demolish half a continent, but everyone just sees him as a pretty chill person that’d be fun to hang out with

Top 3 most noble autobots who isn’t Optimus has to be Fall of Cybertron Metroplex,Prowl from Animated and ye I’d have to say Vector Prime from Cybertron
My favourite Dino boy backstory was the one where they were normal autobody till shockwave kidnapped them and took them apart then reassembled them alive until they became the cyber creatures they are

I wish Animated Omega Supreme got a mention. I mean, it ended the war before the series began, plus nearly died saving the entire state of Michigan from being transported into deep space.

My favorite version of Omega supreme is from transformers animated. His origin story of being a living weapon created by the autobots only to be completely guilt ridden with the destruction he caused, and then having to be put in stasis by ratchet, his one and only friend was really sad, but it made his final appear in the show all the more satisfying.
Can we take a minute to applaud the artists for the comics? That shit has so much detail that it's next level.

I’m most likely the only one with this opinion but sentinel prime from dark of the moon is one of the most powerful and heroic primes. He was feared by both autobot and decepticons alike and mentored Optimus prime into who he is today, In the end he tried to save cybertron by sacrificing earth(unicron) to save their planet but the autobots doomed their planet to be dead forever. He even beat optimus in 1 on 1 combat before megatron showed up and caught sentinel off guard allowing optimus to execute his former mentor in cold blood
Ultra Magnus was basically the Arbiter armor for a while
I have always loved ultra Magnus. Not only because he's one helluva badass he's the peak soldier unquestioning, loyalty and does what's needed to be done. And if ordered to the wrong thing pray for the person that ordered him cuz that person is is going to meet Primus soon. And he's one hell of a leader.
Ya it always bothered me that Grimlock by himself was able to beat down a Titan class, but their first outing as a combiner he gets his butt kicked by Predaking a much weaker foe compared to Trypticon.
My favorite version of jet fire is rotf bayformers, hes just a good person trying to do a good thing after a life of wrong.

I can’t believe you missed the Greatest Autobot of all time, the autobot medical master that helps Ratchet pass his med-exam, the Headmaster and professor of his School of Heroic Arts, the bearer of the Matrix of Leadership(temporarily) (which is reluctant to leave his body and have to be surgically removed), the rival or Megatron, the autobot whose name was remembered even millions of years after the war ends.

Shockwave isn't just the most evil Decepticon... he is also not a Decepticon fundamentally in 1 continuation where he only joins to kill Megatron eventually. He is cold and caculated

War for Cybertron is by far my favorite Grimlock iteration and Volcanicus absolutely got done wrong by the writers in Power of the Primes.

Damn, that Metroplex scene in FOC broke me as a lil kid. Easily my favorite version of Metroplex.
I honestly kind of really like Sky Lynx's more armored design from some of the comics. He kind of looks like a space shuttle dragon there, which makes him look almost as cool as he is as a character.
Honorable mention, warpath, who fought megatron in the dark of the moon video game

17:47 Foretress Maximus was stated to be more powerful than Metroplex. If Metroplex is the one that is primitive to follow orders, Fort Max has more complicated mind and there is nothing scarier than a walking spaceship-base with mind of human loyal to autobots, even being their war veteran.
I remember seeing metroplex for the first time and was shocked. So cool.

Ok I'm pushing it a bit but in transformers cybertron we did see primus use a autobot cyber key to access his arm cannons. So technically primus is sn autobot in that universe

I still don't understand why silverbolt was not on the list, superion doesn't count because he is a new being unlike silverbolt, I mean the dude led the rescue mission on the planet quintessa, even being big enough to transport rodimus prime and the others, he smoked Trypticon from the inside, twice (first in G1 then in war for Cybertron) sure he is afraid of heights but makes up for it as a great leader and in S3 of G1 he seemingly conquered his fear of heights, in the IDW continuity he and the aerialbots led the defense of Cybertron against Unicron rallying any autobot that could fly, he and the aerialbots survived said continuity except slingshot and barrel roll, in G1 he changed the minds of his fellow aerialbots, saved humans from starscream and defeated starscream and led his aerialbots in defeating Megatron,rumble and bruticus and of course as mentioned feeding Trypticon energy bolts and leading the rescue mission on quintessa(I'm gonna ignore rebirth) but I can't jump straight to headmasters because I haven't watched it yet,but in summary silverbolt Is a great leader, defeated Trypticon, conquered his fear of heights and became big enough to do what jet fire and sky lynks normally do in five faces of darkness he definitely deserves a spot on this list.
