  • Unloading firewood from my custom DIY 3 point rack. Dimensions are 6'x6'x2' With this rack I have two options for unloading it. 1...Manually as you see here or 2...dump it via the use of the hydraulic top link. Dumping is quick but Its much easier to stack when you can remove logs off of rack instead of picking them off the floor.

That set up sure does make for a easy load/unload. I just figured you liked to build Jenga towers that's why you started the stack where you did...lol
I've been kicking around the idea of burning year round...don't think I'd use that much wood June - Sept. Have to see how much of a supply I can build up tho...would hate to start running out mid January..hahahaha

Longer wood is easier to stack! I buck my logs to 20-22 in long. I think you do longer than that. Your setup is great, as you work at the proper height all the time. You may like to watch video #138 on my channel, it's the setup I came up with for hauling wood from the shed to the house, using a dump trailer in its (near) vertical position. Handling. Thanks for sharing!

From Steel To Wood that is a nice trailer you have and I really like the vestibule! Excellent idea!!
I was thinking of doing something very similar for transporting chunk wood. My mind was set on making a dump trailer and pull it with my tractor. I thought well I can put a hitch on the back of the trailer and hook the splitter. Then I was like wow that’s gonna be a lot of length to maneuver around in the woods, and another axle to maintain. Next I was thinking I could build a splitter affixed to the trailer...A lot of thoughts running through my mind as I’m sure you can relate. I think there are very few of us left that “think outside of the box.” After running many scenarios through my mind this is what I came up with. It has been working great for +10 years. The added benefit of having it on the 3 point (with hydraulic top link) is the ability to position the rack for easier loading and unloading. I never use to raise the rack while unloading until one time about 5 years ago my uncle was helping me unload he said “raise this up so we aren’t bending over”...(Duh!!)...Been doing it ever since!
My wood is cut 24-27ish”. Easier to stack. Less wear and tear on saw and chains. Less “part” cycling. Thanks for watching and commenting!

@@garny3766 Definitely some Benny Hill music is called for on the time-lapses although you may get the hump from TH-cam if you do that! :-)
