- This is a normal firing cycle for my wood boiler This boiler is a homemade firetube design. Cloned off of the simplest, most user friendly, and highly efficient boiler in the world...Garn! Go check them out. garn.com
Very cool. I found the Ernie Garn video and was wondering if anyone ever built one DIY. He says that he heats like 5000 sq ft with one burn for 2 days. It doesn't look too difficult to build. How did you make the reaction chamber and air collar?
That’s truly impressive! Just found the channel and was watching the videos on the log splitter and the 3pt link box and was wondering when the log burner video was going to come up. It doesn’t look homemade, wold be lovely to see some more on it, maybe a walk-round. Building something like this definitely on my list.
I was thinking about why you don’t use crates and pallet forks but see now it’s right next door to the wood burner.
Marcus, boiler is homemade cloned of a garn. I built it 13 years ago. I think I do have pics of it being built. This was long before I was interested in YT. My opinion is this design is the easiest to operate, most efficient, and long lasting due to the fact it can be serviced from inside or out. Check out garns website.
Pro trick: you can watch movies on Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using it for watching a lot of movies lately.
That’s an awesome homemade boiler! Can you make a video of what your supplying hot water or steam to? Why you only run for 3 hours? Just elaborate more on your setup in general. Thank you! Great video!
Its not home made boiler.
Good video. Did you encase yours in concrete ? I'm going to check ur other bids to see if it shows it. Thnx
No. I built it out of a 1500 gallon dairy-cool bulk tank. Which is wrapped in insulation. It’s modeled after a Garn boiler.
That's a big firebox! :-)
Actually no if you compare to outdoor wood boilers. Combustion and transfer efficiency of this style boiler rival fuel oil furnaces. No creosote ever.
Just subscribed to your channel. So haven't watched all of your videos yet. What are you all heating with this? I assume your shop, but house as well?
Yup. Shop, mobile home, 2 water heaters. Can burn all year. Makes no difference on boiler operation or combustion efficiency.
I wood be cutting some greener wood lol
Ah...no. Not with these boilers. That’s like throwing a 5 gallon bucket of water in there.
Where does that idea come from? I've been told to burn greener wood mixed into my seasoned wood too but I can't understand why I would want to and no-one can explain why either.
Green = more moisture? I don't find my car runs better when I mix a little water into the fuel.
Home made one? Brand?
Yup. Built out of a 1500 gal dairycool bulk tank. Modeled after garn
You could do much better and far less wood with a hot air wood stove.believe me I went that route years ago with the boiler i built and I gave it up to much wood I must say having it in a building out of the cold wind rain and snow is a much better idea then these outdoor boilers that are out there now.
😆😆😆 you obviously do not know about these wood boilers. Horizontal flue no creosote combustion efficiencies that are on par with fuel oil furnaces. These boilers are not a central boiler or heatmor junk. I use half the amount of wood a force air uses
Bud the only way to heat water efficiently is in very thin layers like a car radiator. From hot air to hot water.ive been playing with this stuff for the last 40 some years and I no what works .useing so much wood is not the solution.theres always a better way.
@@123windyron well I hate to tell you your 40 years was in the wrong direction. Check them out. www.garn.com/ you ain’t the only one who studied combustion and heat transfer efficiencies. These are hands down simplest easiest to operate chunk wood burning appliance. Also look up downdraft European wood boilers.
I use 3 pieces of wood total of 15 pounds last for three hours heats my addition garage and the other part of my house.at 71 degrees at 25 degrees out side.350 degrees going up the flue pipe
And pre heating my loop on my oil boiler.with zero smoke and zero creosote comeing out of the flue pipe on my homemade triple chamber wood stove.150 degrees blowing into the addition.and 90 degrees blowing into my house.so on 15 pounds of wood every three hours I'm a happy camper 150 watts total on my two squirrel cage fans .
@@123windyron ok. Let me know when you get -20/-30*f and heating 2 water heaters, 3500sq ft. And I can burn this boiler in 100*f and -30. Doesn’t burn any different. I heat domestic water all year thru plate heaters that are not preheating the water heater tank.
