A piece of American motor history worth saving 🇺🇸
Love these, they were from a time when we built some great things in the US. An iconic design which was stylish for it's time and came to be much coveted through the years.
Sadly there's only so much that you can do with these now as new parts are unavailable and the main source for used parts closed shop and sold out. A breakdown on the road may take months to repair trying to scrounge parts so I'd keep it near enough to home so that it could be towed in. Enjoy it before they're all gone!
Correction! A piece of American Military history! An EM-50 Urban Assault Vehicle.
We’re exciting the rescue and preserve it! 😊 Thanks so much for watching!
@@BudgetBuildzthose double axle motor homes are awesome 👍 thanks for saving this one it's sad that most old cars even motorhomes have gone to the crusher because of the cash for clunkers back in the day
Omg ,
Holy Toledo is that just sweet. Dude, dad working in flip flops. I was wondering what happened to this camper when you first rescued it, now I know. Absolutely marvelous clip.
Beautiful children.
God bless
Cool that youngsters did help on cleaning. Thumbs up for the kids. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
You washing the car with your whole family at the end made me emotional, such a wholesome and beautiful moment I love this vintage old motorhome and it seems like the kids do also! I hope you end up keeping it as it is a piece of history
really shocked how nice it looked after power washing it.
I think what resonates with people with this rescue is the purity of the time this vehicle was built. Life was simpler and the dream of hitting the road with your family was a new and exciting experience. I think this rebuild could take your channel to a "whole nuba lebel". I'm looking forward to future videos and the final result with a good ol family vacation.
Yes, so much better then. Like a different world. I miss it so much.
100% time has only presented more and more struggle, I hope those who could live in the late 50s/60s/70s/80s know how lucky they are.
@@M.TTT.people did know it. I distinctly remember people felt lucky to be an American. They were proud and optimistic about the country.
I love this rescue and rebuild support from American people appreciate..
Cant wait to see this restored its glory. ❤
Absolutely excellent! I love those GMC motor homes. Really good history on these! They are different, and the GM factory built the interior through the rear section/opening. They finished and installed the back panel…
Now that’s an interesting tidbit of information!
'Stripes and the Hess truck...that beauty is part of my heritage...thanks for saving it!! !NJ
A testimony to the GMC's that it washed so well. I was 12 years old when my Dad drove a 26' footer into the driveway, making a great summer of travel for me and my two sisters. I'm 62 now and I'll never forget that ride.
Nice to see this RV going from derelict to road worthy. Looks like when she's all done your family will all enjoy going on camping trips together. 😊
I love these old GM motorhomes, just think how nice they were when they were brand new ! 😊🖐️👍
Rented one of these for two weeks in 1974 and went from St. Louis to Rocky Mtn. National Park then to Yellowstone and then to Glacier and back. Most fantastic driving RV you'll ever experience behind the wheel or as a passenger. Four adults, a six month-old and an Irish Setter. Great trip and will forever be remembered and treasured.
I always liked GM we camped in campers from when I was small. In my family travels, we saw these as the were newer and I even got a tour one time. It takes me back quite a few years, and I want to say thank you for saving this one!
I own an older British motorhome. Only 26 years young and just under 6metres in length, but I’m always smiling when driving her. There’s something about the older motorhomes (or RV as you call them) that just is so satisfying! Best of luck in your build!
Restore it, it's a lovely rig.
Fun to watch your positive vibes.
WOW !!!!! THAT TRAILER IS HAPPY TO BE ALIVE ,, THE LIGHTS ARE ALL WORKING ... KIDS GO!!! CLEAN IT UP ,, IT A FUN HOME.. THANKS ...
Always thought these were neat; I remember when they first came out! Glad to still see things from the 70's around; was a very fun decade!
This was one of the most rewarding videos you boys have provided so far. I love how you got the wee-uns involved. That makes it a memory for them to hold forever... especially when they have been RV'ing in it! You guys are the best!
This car deserves a lot more care, new radiator, good interior work...Thank you! God bless your family!!🇺🇸🇺🇸
😱 not a car 🙄. ✌️✌️🇺🇲👍
Me parece increíble como ha quedado después de estas mejoras
Our family had a very similar one, white with light blue stripe and carpet, in the mid-80s. This really brings back great memories of hauling the ladies to the family reunion, my buddies to rodeo, etc... Gets me right in the feels.
I want to cry, you look so happy. This is what life is all about. Bless you and your family too.
What a beautiful truck. God bless it and allow you to enjoy for decades to come.
Oh my goodness, what a difference once she got a washing. I'm in love with this rig. Can't wait to see the progress on her.
I’m not even American but your videos make me nostalgic for these old V8 buses. Great work.
One of the most satisfying projects I've seen from you. As someone who saw one of these featured in the movie "Stripes", I was so happy to see you decide to try and revive this RV and can't wait to see the progress as you revive this vehicle to its former glory! :)
I credit the movie Stripes with the creation of the toy hauler RV. The whole back of the GMC is held on with a butt ton of Phillips #3 screws.
The EM-50 "Urban Assault Vehicle" .. :P
It's really great watching you guys bring these relics back to life and have some good clean fun while doing it!
Pun Intended?
I always loved these. Being a van guy, and the fact that these share a lot of components from the vans of the era really does it for me. Also the visibility from the driver seat is incredible with very little A pillar to speak of
incredible transformation those 455 front wheel drives were really strong and best design for those old motorhomes
Picked ours up in February of this year. After some coolant system, brake system and fuel system work she made the 50 mile ride home. Shredded a tire on the way. Now the REAL work begins. Your video helps keep the inspiration going. Happy to subscribe and follow.
Love this camper. She needs a name, maybe the kids could come up with one.
Sweet machine dude !
It would be a crying shame not to fix this one up.
I`ll be looking forward to more of this build.
Thank You for sharing your video, and letting us hang out .
Great to see the old GMC up and driving....and clean....
A big well done from here in England😊
Good to see you guys going "Green" and rescuing this thing... You're saving the planet....and we're having fun watching you making memories....🤔😳😏😏😏😀🇬🇧
Beautiful..Vehicles like this make family memories..and you appear to have a beautiful family..Thanks and good luck to you all...UK
This indeed is a rare GMC Michael. I'm sure you and Dad will make it look real sweet when done! You can make the inside anything you want or need, as that's what Sleeperdude did to two RVs.
Congrats family camper being washed by family was the blessing that she needed to become the superstar that soon she will be.
Fantastic how that's cleaned up, with the interior try and keep the wood panels as a template for new ones and make it all nice and fresh same for the material and curtains and it will last another 20 years. can't wait for the next video guys.
Your whole family are going to have so much fun in this thing.
Too cool, bringing back this GMC motor home and giving it a long needed bath!! When I clean my camper at the lake (mobile home), I use a bunch of Simple Green and water in a pump sprayer. The secret is to add a few squirts of Dawn dish washing soap. After you soak a section, use your pressure washer from the bottom of the camper, working your way up. This is so the soap solution is not diluted as you go with the pressure washer. Cheers!
What a great find. That rv will be a great family asset for many years to come.
what a great family day, wonderful dad
One of the best revivals I've watched in a long time, I love these old GMC RVs.
One of my favorite GM products ever. Thanks for giving it a new life! Definitely my dream restoration project
🇬🇧 uk here
love it
great to see the young ones getting excited about the older stuff too
I've always loved these old coaches and would love to have been able to afford one. Their styling never gets old.
Once fully restored that thing is going to be so much fun!
Definitely take those hard-working kids camping. It will be something they will never forget and times you will always cherish. Love the rear suspension bolt on. I believe you will all have memorable times in this awesome camper. God Bless the camper and your family.
I certainly didn't think it was going to look that good after the first wash. Great job by the kiddos!
love it, love how the children helped wash it was so great of you as a dad and granddad
I like it when the green moss and dirty grim is wash a way. Now you can appreciate what your dealing with!!
Great job!!
I was born in 1967. I remember seeing these as a young kid. I always liked to look of them.
That clean up was nothing short of AMAZING!! I've loved those campers since I had one as a Hotwheels in the early 80s! Nice find, and a beautiful save so far!! I'm sure that ol girl has MANY more family memories to help create!!
I love all the stuff u do, but this camper is awesome! Now I'm over in the UK & I'm pretty good on my old American vehicles, so correct me if I'm wrong but I would swear that's the exact same model camper that was used in the movie Stripes with Bill Murray!!
Hey this old girl look pretty good! Glad you could find parts to fix her up and get her back on the road!
Awesome ….good to see a father and son beat these monsters back to life
Beautiful restoration and being the father of three now in their late teens i can appreciate all the fun you'll have adventuring with your kids.I always find your videos heart.warming. Greetings from Sweden!
Thank you for saving this beauty and getting back on the road!
I saw many of those in the 70’s but never worked on one. Apparently it has an Olds Toranado chassis. Those aluminum finned brake drums were common then. 455’s are great engines 😊 👍
The front rotors are a 1 ton Chevrolet truck set up.
The wooden blocks between the rear tires is where the air bags go. The rear wheel assemblies are on a cam system. When the air bags are deflated, the rear wheels come together at the top and the rear of the truck goes down. Inflate the bags and the rear raises up to the ride position.
I ( Not to mention we ) hope that you keep records of how much this restoration costs . That would be Interesting to see !
Those are one of the coolest vehicles ever made. That is infinitely cooler than a corvette.
Gave a like just for the sneeze. My Dad owned a 26 foot GMC motor coach in the 70's. This brings back wonderful memories for me. Thanks for posting and good luck on your journeys!
The styling of these TransModes was really cool for the time. With modern color, striping, and trim schemes, some people would never believe these things came from the 70's. (Not saying you should do that! Keep the retro look.) Glad you saved her.
Wow, and you guys have the skillset and drive to bring her back. Love this.
What a find you got there looking at it after the jet wash you wouldn t know it had been abandoned for all those years
I was so impressed with the first bath. It's got great character.
Bloody well done mate. The smile on your face when you were driving says it all. ❤🎉
That windscreen is like a giant Lego piece! Great rescue and lovely family time 👍👍👍
It was so satisfying to see all that dirt to be washed away.
Well done guys! Great to see the family involved!
Dirty Mike and the boys are going to miss that RV
Love it. With you all the way. Looking forward to seeing how well the inside cleans up.
She scrub's up well,
Amazing what a little soap & water can do,
Looking forward to the video of you doing the inside!!
Can't wait to see what you going to do to the inside
That buzz / excitement feeling from fixing something up like this and driving it , beats any new car feeling I’ve had this many times my self 👌✌️ big love from Liverpool England
Awesome! We restored ours when our kids were the same age and have loved it! It ended up being the prom-mobile twice and has tailgated at 3 universities. We still camp in it frequently.
My parents bought one new in 1974, had it several years and put about 200,000 miles on it. Was a beautiful orange, and was easy to spot in the campground.
We took it on several memorable trips.
Over time, my Dad pretty much rebuilt every thing on that bus, including the frame and several sets of air bags.
Good to watch the rebuild...
I’m don’t think you stopped smiling the whole video….great job guys!
Love the rebuild! Great work! Seeing your young kids out there helping brought back so many memories of my kiddos; such precious times to cherish! Time passes so quickly!
That GMC is so cool....really enjoying this series. Hope you can source the rest of those OEM hubcaps. Can’t wait to see the transformation on this classic motorhome
that's a lovely camper. good luck with it. kids love it too.
So glad you are saving the old girl! We love our Motorhome. All the best. Brad and Norma Jeanne '76 Palm Beach
FYI - A quick buff also gets rid of the oxidation and brings back the shine . What a difference a bath makes.
Way to go Michael, it’s very special how you involve your kids, just all those memories you are making for them to look back on in years to come 👏👍🙂
Great purchase. Great family happines. For years to come. God bless you!
Kids and a camper! that's a great memory! I remember going camping the first time at maybe 7 yrs old in a cabover camper on a '70 ford pickup. 250 i think. what a wonderous ride sitting in the bed over the cab and looking out the window at the sunset as we travelled down the road. that was more than 40 years ago...
Love this series! What an amazing transformation just with the power washer and magic erasers. Cannot wait to see more of this. BTW great idea to block off the air ride with wood blocks to get it moving!
Great rescue. Can’t wait for the next one.
Those are the best looking RV’s ever made. Hope you have a lot of family fun with it.
She sure does look great. The kids sure look like they were having a ball and you did too.
I love anything old school can't wait to see this done
Love this thing! Great piece of Americana. So glad to see that it’s getting restored. You guys are awesome and I love your channel. Can’t wait to see what you do with the camper next. 😃
You are so lucky and it is so awsome you get to do all this with your dad!
Awesome camper cant wait to see how it turns out.Wish we had these in the UK
That bus cleaned up nicely!! 😮
Really loved your children's involvement. Cars or no cars you are definitely the future for humanity.
✊✊✊ ON THE ROAD AGAIN AND whole family watching it ✅
Man, these motorhomes are super cool. This one definitely looks amazing! Way to bring it back on a budget...amazing.
That there Clark’s an RV! Don’t you be falling in love with her!
What a great camper!
