@@YooperHatesOhioState facts. Having a World Series in milwaukee, win or loss, would’ve done wonders for the city and team. Something milwaukee hasn’t had since they appeared in the World Series in 1982
I went to game one of the NLDS against the Rockies during that season. It was an amazing time and our new piece, moose, had a walk off single to win game one. I remember everyone chanting Brewers on the way out of Miller Park, and it was the best game I had ever been to!
I forget exactly which years these were, but this and 2019 were such insane series for the Brewers, even in the regular season. I almost feel bad for Reds fans because Eric Thames, KBO Legend, annihilated them and Yeli cycled twice off them in a month span. The Brewers I believe ran a catcher platoon with Steven Vogt and I forget who else, Maldonado, maybe? Add in the Marlins gaining basically nothing for Yelich…good years as a Brewers fan
I will say, a major shout out to this man and this video. As one of those life long Brewer fans, and as someone who was in Miller Park the night of Game 7 of the NLCS, that really was a special team. I will never forget that summer.
I always get sad when I think about this team and I'm not even a Baseball fan (I just stumbled upon this video which jogged my memory of this team, and what I'm about to write). What makes me sad is that my Dad has been a Brewers fan for as long as I can remember and he really thought this was their chance. When Puig hit the HR in Game 7 I just remember seeing him slump back in his chair with a depressed look on his face. I remember the exact words he said after the game:"I don't think I'll ever see the Brewers win a World Series." Thankfully he's also a Bucks fan who won the NBA championship a few years later, but that still hurt.
As a brewers fan I’ll just flat out give them the 2020 World Series. Why because around that time Covid-19 was everywhere and made the actual World Series very forgettable. I feel like brewers vs rays would’ve been more fun than dodgers, rays. So turns out the brewers do have a World Series
i blame the fans. Was at game 6 and 7. game 6 was electrifying. Everyone was loud and going crazy. Game 7 as soon as we got behind the fans died. When the brewers needed us our fans shut down and gave up. no one was cheering or trying to get the crowd going. My step dad almost got kicked out because he was screaming and cheering trying to get the fans loud. The all just sat with disgust.
2018 end of the season Christian Yelich is my standard of what it means to be “on fire.” Great video but as a brewers fan I was not ready to re-ignite this pain this early in the morning!
After living in Northwest Wisconsin most of my life, I moved to Milwaukee for college in 2017, caught my first game at Miller Park May of 2018 for the first time since 2010, in that game Brent Suter took Corey Kluber deep, went to another game in Minnesota where the Brewers beat the Twins and then I got tickets to game 1 of the NLCS, it was a blast especially when we started chanting Chokeshaw after he imploded… 2018 was the most fun I had as a Brewers fan, I wish I could see that offense and bullpen with the starting rotation we’ve had the past couple seasons
@@YooperHatesOhioState being less than 20 miles from the border it was about a 50/50 split between Brewers/Twins Fans (basically the same with Packers and Vikings fans). Before college I caught quite a few Brewers games at Target Field, which isn’t as nice as Miller Park imo
@@jordandr.j4789 I know the Hudson area has a huge split. Seems split for football but felt like a ton of people were twins fans regardless of nfl allegiance
That was a really fun team to watch. I was drawn in as a White Sox (62-100 that season) fan and Cubs hater. I loved watching Yelich, and the fans were electric.
19:34 as a lifelong brewers fan, hearing this honestly brought a tear to my eye. Thank you for shining a light on this great team, they may not have won it all but they punched well above their weight and gave the fat cat establishment hell.
The 2018 season was awesome for us Brewers fans! Such a blazing hot September got them to a division title when the Cubs looked to be coasting to it. Brewers had a lot of chances in that NLCS (my late father and I went to game 1), but Turner’s game 2 homer and Taylor’s catch and Puig’s blast in game 7 were the three back breakers. Still, I loved every minute of this season! Some of the best memories of my dad’s final years were created by this Brewers team!
Yelich had a stretch of 154 games from the latter half of 2018 going through early 2019 where he'd put up offensive numbers that were almost completely equal to Babe Ruth's 1921 season, arguably the GREATEST hitting season of all time. He was just incredible, and what he did in the final 2-3 weeks of 2018 were just like how Yaz was in 1967, where he kept making clutch hits to carry the team into the post season.
I'm so glad someone made a video on this team. Unfortunately the only game I went to for the postseason was game 2 of the NLCS, and Justin Turner's homerun landed 5 rows ahead of me. This team had a ton of other players I loved that you didn't mention (Thames and Soria just to name two) that made this team so much fun. It was such a special season that I'll never forget as a Brewers fan. I just wish the pitching was as good as it was in 2021, because then if it was there in 2018 we would've been even better. I hope that one day we get a chance to make the fall classic again, especially after how agonizing our playoff exits have been these last few years.
I literally remember skipping school the day of the tie breaker against the cubs because it was the biggest moment ever as a young brewer fan. Watching Josh Hader shred the cubbies in those final two innings is the reason he will always be my favorite relief pitcher + brewer.
Dodger fan here. That 2018 NLCS was one of the greatest series I’ve seen. Just a wild, fun series. Wouldn’t have even been mad if the Brew Crew had pulled it out.
Surprisingly as a Yankees fan I still have not forgotten about them yet one of my favorite non Yankee teams they had the fake starter that series too it was awesome
I didn’t get to go to any of the NLCS games, but I did get to go to Game 2 of the NLDS vs the Rockies. Fun times, but still think what could have been if a few things went the Brewers’ way against the Dodgers.
This brewers offense and bullpen was sooo nasty up and down. The only weakness on that offense was our catcher in Manny Pina and Erik Kratz and they were really solid. The bullpen was disgusting Jeremy Jeffress and Josh Hader were unbelievable to watch. If you add the 2021 brewers starting pitching to that 2018 brewers team I think they win a World Series.
That game 163 win at wrigley is my favorite memory as a brewers fan. Just barely tops making it on the last day in 2008 with the Braun 8th inning homer
My father and I watched Baseball forever together. He's from Illionois and was a true Cubbie fan despite being from the South side. In 2007, when Braun and Fielder shined, we watched the Brewers, and every year after that. And nothing was more important to us than that 2018 season. I watched the Brewers-Cubs game at school and was ecstatic to see them advance and tell my father as he was on the road truck driving. We watched them crush the Rockies full well, knowing they would. Then the day came for Game 7. My father and I banded together in our one bedroom apartment watching it on his phone, looking at Yelich dominate that early home run lead. Then, when Hader didn't come back for the 7th inning, we knew it was over. We both felt it before it started. I don't really know what it was, but it hurt us. Because to this day, my father and I haven't watched a single Baseball game since that Game 7. We knew that's as close as Milwaukee would get, and it hurt to see it end the way it did.
i was at game 7 vs the dodgers and haven't been to a brewers game since and im from Milwaukee lol, i told myself id never spend so much $$ on tickets ever again yet 3 years later i bought tickets to game 6 of the bucks vs suns and saw my team win a title live, best experience ever!
I remember watching that division tie-breaker game against the Cubs and starting to mourn the demise of that once-in-a-lifetime championship group after it was over. I knew the Cubs would no longer be a viable threat to win a title after that moment and would likely return to the lean years of the past. It was tough to take. Ironically, if MLB had made the change to eliminate tie-breaker games then instead of doing it a few years later, the Cubs would have won the division instead of the Brewers.
as a royals fan, Cain was one of my favorite players in the league for the better part of the last decade,. it sometimes gets forgotten just how good he was.
Best shot in my lifetime as a Brewers fan to get to the Fall Classic. If/when they do finally break through, it's going to be special. To me, maybe even more so than the Packers.
As a cubs fan, I remember this 2018 season like it was yesterday. This season was just such a collapse at the end for the cubs especially that game 163 that we lost, and then we ended up losing the NLWC to the Rockies.
I appreciate this video so much because not only did yelich shatter his kneecap he also had a back iniury so that 2018 season was truly one to remember
I would argue the best team forgotten about was the 2005 White Sox. Led the divison everyday that season, and went 11-1 in the playoffs winning their first title in 88 years. Certainly most people forget about them because really what was the storyline behind them.
I always remember how devestated I was after that yasiel puig homerun. To have the season get ended like that and have him go parading around the bases broke me mentally in a way I can not describe.
To this day, this years NLCS was the most stressed I’ve ever been as a Dodger fan. The only one that comes close is the 2020 CS. I really hope they get back to what they once were.
I remember thinking that the 2018 Brewers reminded me a lot of the 2014 Royals but better. Both having electric 3 man wrecking crews in the bullpen a starting rotation held together with shoe strings and bubblegum. Brewers get the nod for having a way better offense. And you can't go wrong with having LoCain in CF
To think it all came down to inches with Taylor’s catch in game 7. As a Dodgers fan, I was scared the moment Yelich hit it out. It felt like MIL was destined the way the place exploded. Great team and great series.
As a huge Christian yelich and josh Hader fan (despite rooting for Philly) I think about this series (and season for that matter) all the time. I wish he still played like that and wish he got a ring for that year
I really appreciate the volume Chacin gave the Brewers those years, Jhoulys is the last pitcher ever to start as many games as he did in a single season
the 2010's was a wild decade to be a Brewer fan, because I only became a fan in 2005 when Ben Sheets was carving offenses, it finally felt like hope because the Brewers, similar to the Pirates, could never bring in talent let alone keep them, they always went to the Yankees or some other big market to win for them. Even in some of our down years in the 2010's, there were some fun highlights and players, like Chris Carter in 2016, it wasn't the best year but Carter tied the home run league lead with Arenado with 41, and o.m.g.... Carter's swing was VIOLENT! He was SO entertaining, yet he's considered the emptiest HR champ ever, and that hurts, cuz it's true... When I look at this team on Pro Baseball Reference, idk HOW this team was so good honestly, compare this team with the 2011 team. The 2011 team had a great pitching cast despite it being off on the wrong foot with ZACK GRIENKE getting injured before the season on a pickup basketball game, him and Chris Narveson would each start 28 games as a result, the only other spot starter we had was Marco Estrada (who'd be decent with the Blue Jays), which means only 6 guys started games at pitcher for them. We had the Axe man John Axford as the closer and K-Rod as a setup man, YES A SETUP MAN WHEN THAT DUDE IS LIKE ONE OF THE BEST CLOSERS EVER! Every starter except Estrada had 10+ wins! The thing is, the 2011 team was even MORE consistent, and had the same amount of wins basically as the 2018 team. 2B and CF were the only positions to basically not have full time starters with more than 130 games. The 2011 team had Jon Lucroy play 136, Prince Fielder played ALL 162 at 1B, Yuniesky Betancourt at SS for 152 games, Casey McGehee at 3B for 155, Braun at LF for 150, and Corey Hart at RF for 130. Our relief players (not pitchers) were Jerry Hairston Jr., Craig Counsell as a 40 year old player (now managing Cubs...), Mark Kotsay, and Carlos Gomez.shared CF with Nyjer Morgan (TONY PLUSH!). Rickie Weeks was supposed to be 2B but he only played 118 games indicating injury, it's been 13 years i don't recall what happened that year with him. Basically, the 2011 team had consistent starters offense, defense, and pitching all season long with very few interruptions. 2018 on the other hand!? We had so many platoon guys like Hernan Perez, none of our catchers played over 100 games, we made a TON of post trade deadline trades using the waiver wire loophole. Travis Shaw played the most games at 152. Funniest thing is that Thames was supposed to be our 1B that year, but he got hurt in spring training, and then Aguilar broke out so it's like, what do we do with Thames!? Then there's the pitching staff you mentioned... Only Jhoulys Chacin started the full season (min 32 starts) with 35 starts! Chase Anderson started 30. the 2018 Brewers started 11 different pitchers that year! If that were any other year, this team would've folded like a piece of a paper with that inconsistency of a rotation. Chacin was also the only pitcher to get 10+ wins with 15! So I'm glad you're pointing this team out, because that team should not have been good, they were the definition of over achievers! the 2011 team had studs and superstars, guaranteed good players at almost all positions. the 2018 team? Was a completely different team by September! They were a different team by the All-Star Break! When 1 player went down, another came up!
I've been watching sports for 35ish years. The 2018 Brewers was the most fun season to watch, despite championships, above the 2021 Bucks, and 2010 & 1996 Packers.
I’ll never forget the 2018 season, my mom was the one who made me a diehard brewers fan, and this was the last year she would be able to watch the playoffs before she died. After years of mediocrity getting to watch us be 1 game from the World Series was really special.
Might sound crazy but when I was at game 1 of the NLCS and woodruff was up I called his home run against kershaw. When he came up to bat I saw he had 1 HR already and I said he was hitting another that at bat. It was electric.
I remember telling my dad going into that series that the brewers best chance of beating the dodgers was to end it quick and make sure that it doesnt draw out into a deep series. When their bullpen heavy approach would put them at a disadvantage of having a overtaxed bullpen.
Even as a Reds fan, Darth Hader was one of my favorite pitchers to watch. What's disappointing to see in this video though is how Christian Yelich swelled after he went to the Brewers and teamed up with Braun. Yelich really didn't really need to do steroids, but it is incredible how he could do just a _little_ and could be widely considered the best hitter in the league. That alone says a lot about his natural talent.
It seems the brewers are everyone’s favorite underdog when we are relevant. We don’t make the best choices from a business perspective but the fans do more than love the team anyways
If you took that 2018 offense and put it with the pitching from the last 2 seasons that team could contend for a World Series for sure

@@thedanman6332 hard to say that tho they did play them well when they came to Milwaukee that season
@@thedanman6332 who cares the fact they would’ve made it would’ve been a blessing considering how bad we were before

I remember the exact words he said after the game:"I don't think I'll ever see the Brewers win a World Series."
Thankfully he's also a Bucks fan who won the NBA championship a few years later, but that still hurt.
If the 2021 pitching staff was combined with the 2018 offense they would be a dynasty
Bombs Over Baghdad was a great touch to add when you was talkin bout the outfielders.
Favorite Outkast song.
I think about that season all the time. Broke my heart. Loved this video, dude.
I bet that’s mostly twins territory over there
@@YooperHatesOhioState being less than 20 miles from the border it was about a 50/50 split between Brewers/Twins Fans (basically the same with Packers and Vikings fans).
I hope that one day we get a chance to make the fall classic again, especially after how agonizing our playoff exits have been these last few years.
love the brewers content, what a year, went to game 1, will always remember them
I literally remember skipping school the day of the tie breaker against the cubs because it was the biggest moment ever as a young brewer fan. Watching Josh Hader shred the cubbies in those final two innings is the reason he will always be my favorite relief pitcher + brewer.
That ending wasn't necessary though 😢
This is the team I fell in love with, I had been a brewer fan all my life but I’ve never had a better time being a fan than this season
I was at game one of the NLCS and Woodruff hitting that home run is still one of the best live sports moments I've seen. Great work on the video.
Great video. Brewer fan here. I am ready for this run the current brewers are on and can’t wait to see what the near future can bring.
i was at game 7 vs the dodgers and haven't been to a brewers game since and im from Milwaukee lol, i told myself id never spend so much $$ on tickets ever again yet 3 years later i bought tickets to game 6 of the bucks vs suns and saw my team win a title live, best experience ever!
I appreciate seeing the love for the Brewers
as a royals fan, Cain was one of my favorite players in the league for the better part of the last decade,. it sometimes gets forgotten just how good he was.
This is my favorite brewers team ever. As a brewers fan this really broke my heart.
I loved this Brewers team. They are the reason I fell in love with baseball
As a dodgers fan I never forgot about them. Ill never forget when Turner hit that game 2 8th inning go ahead bomb
make me cry man thanks for that go crew
Will always hold a special place in my heart
Shoutout to TH-cam for putting this in my recommended, as a brewer fan this was an amazing video and very well put together, u earned my subscription
I’m a cardinals fan, and for some reason I loved watching this team in the playoffs. They were just so exciting.
I remember this team. Thanks Mike and SRS!
Chris Taylor sure knows a lot about great catches in Milwaukee
As a huge Christian yelich and josh Hader fan (despite rooting for Philly) I think about this series (and season for that matter) all the time. I wish he still played like that and wish he got a ring for that year
As a brewers fan thank you for this video. This was such a fun team
You should do a video about the 2002 Anaheim Angels that would be sweet
As a Rockies fan I knew there was going to be some pain here, glad it was a short part of the video lol
10 months later from this upload, it’s early in the season. But this roster, feels just as good, probably even better. Yelich is eyeing that MVP
Just wait for this years ending!! Gonna be great!
Love your appreciation of the game
I want to cry after re living the cubs brewers nl central tie breaker game 163
Love the OutKast background music
I've been watching sports for 35ish years. The 2018 Brewers was the most fun season to watch, despite championships, above the 2021 Bucks, and 2010 & 1996 Packers.
I was at game 7. That was heart breaking
Great video man! Really enjoyed it!
Don’t worry brewers fans. As a rangers fan I can relate wholeheartedly.
It still pains me to see that Trent Grisham play against the Nationals, if we didn’t bobble it things may have been different…
i was at game 7 of the nlcs. manny machado getting boo'd made my night even that we lost
As a life-long diehard Brewers fan, I definitely did not forget about this team 😅
Lou Brock edit: absolutely phenomenal
Even as a Reds fan, Darth Hader was one of my favorite pitchers to watch. What's disappointing to see in this video though is how Christian Yelich swelled after he went to the Brewers and teamed up with Braun. Yelich really didn't really need to do steroids, but it is incredible how he could do just a _little_ and could be widely considered the best hitter in the league. That alone says a lot about his natural talent.
Never thought I’d see a dead by daylight clip in a SRS video
Watching that 2018 win and in game as a cubs fan was so sad. Hader was MINT.
I always thought of 2018 Josh Hader of when Bruce Banner said when Thor arrived in Wakanda in Infinity War "You guys are so screwed now!!" 😂
It seems the brewers are everyone’s favorite underdog when we are relevant. We don’t make the best choices from a business perspective but the fans do more than love the team anyways
Bombs over Baghdad!!!!!!
On point soundtrack
Good freakin job, guy
I'm not your guy, pal

2018 brewers were fs one of the best sign stealing hitting teams the leagues ever seen
