Just seen your comments about the drummer, Danny, being "off beat". I get what you're saying in layman's terms, but, as a drummer, I'll just explain: You're hearing a 9/8 time signature, with Danny playing double kick and emphasising certain beats of the bar over his toms with what we call a flam. This creates the "off beat" impression you're talking about, but please don't use "off beat" haha....It is incredibly precise, and locked in with the guitar and bass perfectly. Hope that's not patronising, just wanted to explain that.
Maynard despises the church because they treated his disabled mother like shit. Then he made wine and named it after her.The blood of christ. That's deep.
Mmm - I don't know if it's recommended ( later it might not turn out better for the wine if you decide to eventually open it ) Did it say that this bottle is supposed to age ? Did it come with recommendations ? It depends on what the cork is made of, how you store the bottle and a million other factors. Might be cool to have two of a kind and open one first then let the other one age and eventually "compare" later. I remember it felt really good and well worth the price. Better not to drink while eating as to not alter the experience. You do plan to drink it at some point, right ?
"I'm a TOOL girl" Been waiting my whole life for a girl to say that to me. I think i would drop on one knee and propose right there. You guys are awesome! #toolislife
Pushit the Salival version is Maynards most unbelieveable performance. You picked up on the meaning of the hooker thing - funnily enough there is a Tool song called Hooker With A Penis that complains very directly about how fans perceive the band.
Fun fact. Tool wrote this song after touring with Messhuggah and was heavily inspired by Meshuggah. The members of Messhuggah would also come out on stage with Tool as a finale to help them perform Triad to close the show. That was my first exposure to Messhuggah and by far my favorite concert experience. I don’t do drugs but never felt higher.
I get wanting everything to be heavy, but deep, rich, and melodic is just Tools sound. They don’t shy away from heavy, but they definitely have their own sound that uniquely fits their message.
That's definately one of the coolest things with MJKs vocals. He pulls off almost everything you hear on record live aswell :) The live rendition of Pushit on the Salival album is probably the best example of that. You guys should react to that one in the future, no doubt.
Pretty sure Maynard has stated this song is about his son. Edit: As a father of two toddlers this song really resonates with me. Speaking of songs about children... hope you guys will react to Steven Wilson's 'Routine' soon. The official video is beautifully done.
Many feel that this song is about Maynard's son. That he feels that once his Son came into his life it grounded him. He realized that he would give it all up for his son and that it meant nothing without him. His "Benevolent Son"
The song starts off describing the person has having everything anyone could ever want from a materialistic point of view. "Here from the king's mountain view Here from a wild dream come true Feast like a sultan I do On treasures and flesh, never few." He's saying that he as everything materialistic in his life. He goes on and says, "But I, I would wish it all away. If I thought I'd lose you just one day." And what this means is that despite everything he has, he would give it all away if he was able to keep 'you' but hasn't defined what he means by 'you' yet. The rest of the song is written to compare the materialistic desires to evil, or in other words, he's saying that being materialistic is a bad lifestyle. All the while, the song is saying that he would rather have 'you' than all of the material things in the world. Now the tricky part is defining exactly what is meant by you. At one point in the song, he mentions that 'you' is his 'center'. There could be many definitions to his 'center' in this instance. Here are a few possibilities: 1) He could be talking about a person in his life in which he has a romantic relationship/interest. 2) He could be talking about a person in his life (such as a friend or family member) that he has a really strong connection with that keeps him happy and keeps him true to himself. 3) He could simply be referring to being 'one' with the universe. Understanding who he is and what he means from the perspective of the greater good of life. 4) It is also possible that this is a reference to a God or some version of a deity (or multiple). It is not clear exactly what is meant by the word 'center' but those are the most likely possibilities.
Delighted you chose one of my top 3 Tool songs, even (by a whisker) my favourite one. I have listened to this song perhaps 100 times and you two shone yet more light on the potential meaning(s) of this wonderful song. This is musical exegesis of the highest order. [There's a quote for you!].
Hear him live on "Push It" from the Salival live album. Also, their first EP and LP, Opiate and Undertow respectively, is more heavy than their later stuff.
Sori you remind me of myself when I discovered tool for the first time. It's an amazing feeling hearing these songs for the first time. You have quite the journey ahead of you. Tool changed my whole perspective on music. Enjoy, this band is really special.
The song is about his son. He talk about how he had all the material wealth he could ever want. All the food, drugs, flesh ect. How he was drowning in excess and darkness until his son came along. How his son gave him a love and purpose that he had been missing and inspired him to grow, be better, and leave the darkness behind. He goes back and forth between the two and how at the end of the day he loves his son so much that he would gladly give up everything, the fame, the fortune, his love of music and performing if he ever thought that he might lose his son. NOTHING is more important to him than his son and nothing will keep them apart.
So hands down the best part so far is the immediate reaction from both of you as soon as the song ended....can't tell ya how much i loved that knee jerk reaction. You just get overtaken by the love and positive energy and deep, soulful serchings and have no other choice then to be utterly elated with what you just heard., ok, ill continue watching now
I told you this channel was going to grow! That lyric video was a little off, but no biggie. Great reactions and conversation as always. You're exactly right about Maynard changing the fabric of the song with his voice, and with Danny Carey using weird offbeat time signatures on the song. Good ear... Looking forward to the next Tool vid.
Watching both of your eyes light up after the lyrics unfold as you listen to each successive Tool song.... x) It reminds me so much of myself when I was in middle school and I first listened to Tool back when Undertow came out.
H. really talks about him giving birth to a new life and not passing down to the child what his family passed on to him. But this Jambi one sounds more only about him and his inner self.
So here I am again. Instead of watching some Netflix (as planned) I am kinda sucked into a 44 minute long video of you guys reacting to a song I've probably listened a couple hundred times. Also I should go to sleep... it's 4:22 AM. Crap!
Bless you, Sori, I can't imagine growing up on a home without music. Rock, Classical, Jazz, Big Band, and a little Country have been ever present in my life. While I don't envy you that void in your life, I do very much envy the fact that you have so very much to look forward to. I just ran across your reviews and am now exploring the channel and, being a child of the 60s, a lot of these newer bands, like Tool, are my own discovery Enjoy your journey of discovery and may that journey be a long and exciting one for you both (see, I didn't forget you, Vin). Peace.
The off beat drum you are referring to is called a polyrhythm which makes use of two or more rhythms played simultaneously while moving at the same linear tempo. Tool and Meshuggah are a few bands that use them prominently in their music. Check out Rosetta Stoned, one of the best Tool songs, heavy, groovy, good riffs and its a journey!
I'm so jealous your experiencing tool now! I have been waiting since 10000 for the new album! I have been to 4 tool shows! "Spiritual for sure!" Tool arguably the greatest band of all time!
What he wanted all along, was his son. Relationship between a parent and their children is... or is supposed to be the most pure relationship there is. Kids come along and have a way making you want to fly the straight and narrow to be an example. This whole song to me is about the struggles of living the life of a rock star while raising a child.
I'm honestly not surprised. I haven't seen another reaction channel that actually gives an in depth and insightful 'review' like this one, especially when it comes to the lyrics. I'm more surprised that they don't have more subs but I'm sure that will come with time.
I've seen tool in concert 4 times, and the most recent was the Gorge in Washington with the VIP tickets. 100% worth it to see them in concert. They were the first band I saw in concert back in 2010 too. You guys have to go see them
I know this song is about his son but for me, I use this song for GOD. To keep me grounded in doing selfish acts and such. To stay away from the poison I face everyday. That's why I love Tool. I don't think of them as satanic or what, I think of them as a philosophical band. Which their songs help me to keep in touch with reality and the divine. Side note, you are right at the drummer (Danny) being "off beat". They like odd time signatures and Danny is a monster. Rosetta Stoned has one of the complex drum patterns there is. Watch a video about dissecting Rosetta Stoned and you will be amazed (Once you heard the song of course).
I’ll take both of you two to a Tool concert, it’s a great time in your life you will never forget. The Tool concert I went to with my son, I got pushed over the stage gate when everyone rushed to the front when they came on. I got escorted to the sideline from security, then for some dumb reason I attempted to climb across one of Tool’s instrument crate (a Toolbox LoL) to get up to the seating area and I slipped backwards and fell, trying to break my fall I ended up breaking my thumb and jamming my wrist. One security guard ended up taking me backstage to medic so they could wrap up my hand. Best time I ever had.
No lie, I fanboyed a tiny bit(more than I'd fully admit) that y'all replied hahahahaha. Keep up with these reaction. Absolutely love how y'all share what y'all feel and think what these songs mean and the detail y'all go into is enjoyable to watch itself. Keep it up!!!
Y'all have been listening to a lot the lighter sided Tool songs. Check out some songs from Undertow, that album is dark AF! Heavy, dark, thick and moody. Love watching Sori groove while I can see the wheels in Vins head turning. I've seen em live 4 times and yes, yes, yes he can do those vocals you mentioned, does it amazingly. Great video you two😎🔥🔥
Mr. Peeps I don’t think he can do the vocals. I saw them in 2016 and it was really bad. The music was the saving grace. But his performance convinced me to never see them again. 😢
@@gimphandjeff damn.....maybe he was sick. I saw them with Tomahawk at the Ocean Center and even tho he did the loincloth hiding in the corner with his back turned the whole show thing his vocals we're completely on point
Vin, Tool has a good amount of heavy songs. The Opiate e.p. and the Undertow album are both on the heavier side. Also, to connect Tool to another band that you have done a reaction from....Meshuggah opened for Tool during one of the legs of the Lateralus tour back in 2001 or 2002(I think it was 2002 during the leg of the tour after I saw Tool). Happy to see you find a Tool song that you really like. Sori, It is always awesome to see you enjoy Tool. You have an amazing discography to look forward to. Very excited for the Lateralus review. It will be worth the wait. Vin and Sori keep up the awesome work and great in depth reactions/reviews.
Y'all remind me of this church I used to work at. I'm an atheist, but they accepted and loved me anyway. We had so much more in common than we didn't. Like y'all, they (especially the small group I joined) struck me as comrades who happened to be Christian, not the other way around. I truly believe there is and ought to be a space for believers and non-believers alike to share, and it seems like y'all are creating such a space with this channel
you two... i've watched some of your videos ( reaction of judith, wings for mary, sober, the pot, 10'000 days and this) and I just admire your love for each other and your open mindedness (is this a word?) in general and for the situation the writer of this and every other mentioned song presents himself. I really hope there are more people like you in this world and I wish you the very best. Greetings from Switzerland
It warms my heart to see Sori fall in love with tool it reminds me so much of the first time I heard tool...Its like falling in love with them all over again...thank you for letting me relive my youth vicariously through your new experiences. I have a whole new appreciation for their music
the title jambi is kind of a joke about the riff sounding like Jambi's chant on Pee Wee's Playhouse. However, like many of tool's lyrics, it has a double meaning.
Shane Like the idea that its about a sultan(I think thats the word, indonesia ya know) leaving his life as one behind to be with a woman he loved. Jambi is the place the story took place.
Don't know why I like these reaction videos so much - maybe it's because I relive the first time I heard these tracks. A little human connection. Thanks a lot for doing these!
You guys are just awesome. Many Tool fans didn’t catch the Pee Wee reference right away! Its named after Jambi, the genie. When Chancellor came up with the bass lines, Carey thought it sounded like Jambi's chant, then Maynard wrote lyrics about a genie and making wishes. it was meant as a joke! Nonetheless, the song appears to have a deeper meaning and is open to our own individual interpretation - that’s just the beauty of Tool. One of my favorite songs of all time and I love seeing people react to it ❤️ Subscribed!
I don't know a lot about TOOL, but serendipitously found Maynard's book at the public library last week and am at chapter 10. The lyrics have a lot of cryptic clues that he tells people about in his book. I think this song is designed to be ambiguous, but if you know about his story,.. you start to get puzzle pieces together a little better.
Yes, live he is just as good. Tool - Pushit (Salival - Live) is a great example. He almost sounds like he mixes gregorian chants over the lyrics. Sori. You have seen the magic of tool :)
I'm sold. Didnt care for many reaction videos, but theres something special here with you two. (Not to mention I get to watch fledgling tool fans geek out over the many wonders this band has too offer) Good luck to you two, and God bless!
I feel like this song is about his song changing his life and making him realize that he would give up everything and deny his demons (Legion) in order to keep his son in his life. Edit: Tempted the Devil and got what I wanted all along is referencing him living the lifestyle he had been and still being blessed with a child that he probably didn't even realize he wanted all along.
Jambi is one hell of a song....sick intro, sick bass, sick bass, sick vocals and the best part is the amazing and catchy riffs.....pure perfection for ears!!
Sori I’ll be looking for that thumbs up from u 2 after Reflection takes u away for about 11 minutes!! I KNOW you will fall in love with it. 🤘🤘Shit, that song is so good that friggin lampshade will prob voice it’s opinion on it LOL!! Lampshade: yeah, ya know, I’m gonna hv to give that a 10/10!!
You guys just gained a new sub. I love how in depth you guys go. I actually like it when people actually talk about what’s being said. First video. Big fan already
Years ago I saw them live and when they did Jambi that part where he does the part of song where he starts with dim my eyes. Maynard was wearing a cowboy hat. He contorted himself all the way back and swung the cowboy hat around while belting out the lyrics it was amazing.
For heavier Tool songs: Jerk off Ticks and Leeches Hooker with a Penis Part of me More distorted heavy riffs and very angry side of Maynard vocally. MJK does pull the majority of what you hear on the album live. I have seen a few times where he cuts it short and then other times he nails. Maybe he adjusts to how he is feeling that day to give a better performance. Other fun tracks: Pushit ( Salival version is my favorite but original is great too) No Quarter ( Led Zeppelin cover) #vinisnprettyalrighttoo Just kidding. We love you as well. Just had to make fun.
12:40 that’s called a polyrhythm! it’s when you mix two different time signatures such as 5/4 and 6/8 so the time only meets up every 4 bars. it’s really cool and tool does it so much
Just came across your media last night and absolutely love your interaction, I'm subscribed! I'm also a Maynard fan as my spiritual journey parallels his. You hit it with assessing his vocals as an instrument, that's why he doesn't perform front center. He's usually a silhouette in the background. The other thing to understand is that he will not tell you what the song means specifically. Rather the idea is that's you find yourself relating to the music instrumentally and the expression lyrically. For instance trying to asses tempted the devil with my song and got what I wanted all along. For myself I relate to the idea that I'm so alive today not in prison I've had a pretty charmed Life I've tempted the devil but yet here I am but only by the grace of God. So for myself the following lyrics are shine on shine on benevolent Son. Shine on till The two become One. But for the grace of God I am withering away. We are all a part of the body of Christ hell is the separation from the Godhead. Anyways you guys are doing a wonderful job don't lose that love you have for each other. Peace!
Caught me by surprise, thought you guys will hold Tool reactions until doing the Lateralus review Loved the reaction and the discussion that went through, was such a nice pick!
Parabola and jambi are my favorite tool songs I haven't watched the vid yet but the shine on benevolent son is referring to Jesus I hope lol btw just got done recording my ep waiting to master it than hopefully I can send it to you guys
My interpretation of it was he's gotten everything he's worked for with the kings mountain view feasting on endless treasures and flesh but is still not satisfied and would give it all away for some sort of divine intervention with the whole benevolent son 2 become one father and son thing or hes relating it to his mom as well with the I'd wish it all away if he'd lose her parabola is heavy in the 2nd half the grudge is heavy stinkfist also
Go to a Tool concert. . . there is no other show quite like it. . . and their sound live is as good as any I've heard and I've been to hundreds of concerts. Love watching you guys keep it up!
No way bro, not patronizing at all. We just learned something ... genuinely thank you my dude !
There is a reason he’s called the octopus
Syncopated might be a better term.
You two seem to be the most down to earth people. I think you're both awesome. You both are going to lose your shit when feeling the lateralus album.
I'm a huge Tool fan. These two seem like amazing, unique people. Tool fans who assault/harass/insult them have lost the entire message of Tool.
Maynard despises the church because they treated his disabled mother like shit. Then he made wine and named it after her.The blood of christ. That's deep.
AND that particular wine is so fucking good !! btw I'm french
Adam Jones I have a bottle of Judith 2012 but I wont open it haha
Mmm - I don't know if it's recommended ( later it might not turn out better for the wine if you decide to eventually open it )
Did it say that this bottle is supposed to age ? Did it come with recommendations ? It depends on what the cork is made of, how you store the bottle and a million other factors. Might be cool to have two of a kind and open one first then let the other one age and eventually "compare" later. I remember it felt really good and well worth the price. Better not to drink while eating as to not alter the experience.
You do plan to drink it at some point, right ?
Adam Jones The bottle is signed by Maynard with a letter of authenticity.
Adam Jones It cost 600 bucks.
the beat thing is called poly-rhythm. Tool uses quite frequently.
I think they were referring more to syncopation than polyrhythms. But Danny Carey is the master of both!
Sthaman Sinha this made me laugh too much
@@Salomon_G do you listen to tool like wtf lol
No polyrhythm is in this song. its just odd time signature with hyper metrical patterns.
I've got 3 words for you Vin... Ticks & Leeches. One of the heavier Tool tracks, and an absolute beast of a drum part.
"I'm a TOOL girl" Been waiting my whole life for a girl to say that to me. I think i would drop on one knee and propose right there. You guys are awesome! #toolislife
Tool is love Tool is Life!
OK, gloves are off, it's 46 & 2 time!! Make it happen Village!
Yaasssss!!!! The skin must be shed :)
Here, Here!! I would love to hear their point of view on 46&2
First Aenima...
Wow for some reason I thought they did that already but I was wrong. Yep, 46 & 2 guys, gotta hv it!
Nah. So many better Tool songs first
I was watching vids by Lost In Vegas (shout out to the free thinkers!) and I came across your channel. You guys are great, +1 sub
hahahaha it happened the same for me!
pretty much the only 2 react channels I watch now
Wow y’all.. that’s crazy !
Same here. Only 2 reaction channels I like.
Same here! Lost In Vegas and y’all should collab!
Yup!! These guys and Lost In Vegas are the best!!
I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Adam Jones the guitarist and he confirmed that the song is named after the genie from PeeWee’s Playhouse. Good catch!
Pushit the Salival version is Maynards most unbelieveable performance. You picked up on the meaning of the hooker thing - funnily enough there is a Tool song called Hooker With A Penis that complains very directly about how fans perceive the band.
Elizabeth Rose ^^^ Pushit (Salival) possibly the best love performance I’ve ever heard
Pushit (live Salival version) is phenomenal
I'm so glad that sori is a Tool girl now. Vin will be won over after the lateralus album or 46 and 2. I'm sure.
Definitely! Tool is the modern Led Zeppelin imo.
I feel like I'm taking a music appreciation class when I watch your videos. I can't even express how much I love this. Keep it up guys!
Thanks !
Yes. Go to a Tool show if you ever have the chance! The best way to experience Tool.
That's definately one of the coolest things with MJKs vocals. He pulls off almost everything you hear on record live aswell :)
The live rendition of Pushit on the Salival album is probably the best example of that. You guys should react to that one in the future, no doubt.
YES!! 100% They should do the studio version first, then listen to the live version off of Salival...I would love their take on a comparrison
I wont even listen to the studio version anymore, The live version of Pushit on Salival is just one of those songs that brings up deep feels.
word.
Tool gives me all the feels...
If you listen to both you have to do it back to back...I'm telling you pushit live is tools greatest live song imo
Ticks and leaches on lateralus will blow yalls mind. Especially vin
Fckgogle Pluss Yeees!! Ticks and Leeches Next!
They will freak out on the grudge before 😂😂! I mean they need a 45 minutes video for each song on lateralus
I was just going to say the same thing.
Zaa Zoo they gearing up to do the entire album!! It’s gonna be EPIC!!
He didn't like it lol
Yes! This and The Grudge are my top two Tool songs. Looking forward to this!
David Bovey Grudge?
Talk to text malfunction. Gah...
Pretty sure Maynard has stated this song is about his son.
Edit: As a father of two toddlers this song really resonates with me. Speaking of songs about children... hope you guys will react to Steven Wilson's 'Routine' soon. The official video is beautifully done.
Staniel Wilsenlöw 🙄
Highly doubt
Resonates may be a bit too weak of a term🤣✌️, as I fall into that category too with this one
SILENCE LEGION STAY OUT OF MY WAYYY!!!!!! Vin I can’t wait to see the ear to ear grin on your face as you listen to Lateralus!
Many feel that this song is about Maynard's son. That he feels that once his Son came into his life it grounded him. He realized that he would give it all up for his son and that it meant nothing without him. His "Benevolent Son"
well they were close. it was his son, not a woman. cool. ;)
I read in an interview that it was about his son when he was taken from Maynard. His ex-wife had custody of him after their divorce.
Benevolent SUN
Qliphirot It’s a play on words. He really is talking about his son but he’s using a homophone with the word sun.
The song starts off describing the person has having everything anyone could ever want from a materialistic point of view.
"Here from the king's mountain view
Here from a wild dream come true
Feast like a sultan I do
On treasures and flesh, never few."
He's saying that he as everything materialistic in his life. He goes on and says,
"But I, I would wish it all away.
If I thought I'd lose you just one day."
And what this means is that despite everything he has, he would give it all away if he was able to keep 'you' but hasn't defined what he means by 'you' yet.
Here are a few possibilities:
1) He could be talking about a person in his life in which he has a romantic relationship/interest.
RoboGamer ™ - I've always felt that he's speaking of his Higher Self/Soul/Inner Child, or maybe that's who his words speak to in myself.
It's God
Just to put this out there, Jambi is amazing live! Tool puts on such a great experience in a live format. Must see live hands down!

Maynard has said many times his voice is his instrument that he contributes to the band.
Sori you remind me of myself when I discovered tool for the first time. It's an amazing feeling hearing these songs for the first time. You have quite the journey ahead of you. Tool changed my whole perspective on music. Enjoy, this band is really special.

Good idea to have the song in the background during the discussion/breakdown afterwards, can still rock out while listening to you guys
Ya!!! Vin came up with that!!! -#improvingbytheday
I also noticed that and thought it was a really good idea.
Been waiting for this song! Thank u!
Ur welcome!! -Sori🤟🏻
Fckgogle Pluss you and me both 👌
Sori looks so happy when she listens to Tool, as opposed to how she looked when she was listening to Countryallica the other day, lol.
Thank you for another Tool song. One of my favorites!!

I really love watching you both figuring this out. It’s about his mom…again. Bless his heart, and yours..
nice one guys... i have to say its very educational to listen to you ... big greetings from split, croatia... love the tool, meshuggah stuff

Enjoy your journey of discovery and may that journey be a long and exciting one for you both (see, I didn't forget you, Vin).
That’s crazy talent ... wow
that's a polymeter, polyrhythm is a different related concept
Magsin live Triad w/Tomas Haake 2002 Cox Arena video- baddest of asses
so does TesseracT...for some people it takes time to get used to, but once you do its amazing!
It's a manipulation of 9. Adam's riff is 5+4 and Danny is kicking on every 3 beats, which is standard 9 notation.
I couldn't watch this fast enough! Vin, this request was for you. Thank you both for the reaction. I knew you both would enjoy it.
Now I need a video solely dedicated,to just Sori's sheltered and strict Christian upbringing😂 keep up the great in depth work guys
That would be so depressing! Yet also perhaps cathartic for her.
You are SO lucky to have a TOOL GIRL! I'm so happy for you two
You guys grew fast, you were at 800 when I subbed to you about a week ago, now you at 5k lmao
Soooo crazy! -Sori
I'm honestly not surprised. I haven't seen another reaction channel that actually gives an in depth and insightful 'review' like this one, especially when it comes to the lyrics. I'm more surprised that they don't have more subs but I'm sure that will come with time.
We started 5 weeks ago!
We just started about five weeks ago... it’s been crazy
Look what can happen when you bring Tool energy to two that truly appreciate the vibe and message of their art. Spectacular growth!
Brilliant! Amazing !
Eric Sedano the best part about TOOL is it does not matter what it is about. It is about.... what is it to you right now, today.
I completely agree @Alexfrank6534!
Danny Carrey is not a drummer. He is the god of time and thunder.
Hahaha well Danny has 3 beats running in his head :D
I’ll take both of you two to a Tool concert, it’s a great time in your life you will never forget. The Tool concert I went to with my son, I got pushed over the stage gate when everyone rushed to the front when they came on. I got escorted to the sideline from security, then for some dumb reason I attempted to climb across one of Tool’s instrument crate (a Toolbox LoL) to get up to the seating area and I slipped backwards and fell, trying to break my fall I ended up breaking my thumb and jamming my wrist. One security guard ended up taking me backstage to medic so they could wrap up my hand. Best time I ever had.
toolshed.down.net. Official lyrics are there. From Maynard. These lyric videos are super wrong.
Loving the reaction so far!
Thanks!! -Sori🤟🏻
Jeffery Tucker Right on, man.
If I lived closer or vice versa, it'd be a pleasure to buy y'all tickets to a Tool concert. They are an experience to see live.
Love you for that!’
Well, I saw them last year and this song was flawless
@@gimphandjeff damn.....maybe he was sick. I saw them with Tomahawk at the Ocean Center and even tho he did the loincloth hiding in the corner with his back turned the whole show thing his vocals we're completely on point
This song is a personal family favorite ....and yes he does pull it off live. I can only watch live videos from them. Nothing better. EVER
Y'all NEED to go to see Tool live. I promise you. You will walk away changed.
They are absolutely INCREDIBLE live! Best show I’ve ever been too by far (in support of this album).
Great reaction. Thank you for putting sori back on the left. I feel so much better now. Haha
Hahahha yup! Everything is as it should be! Lol -Sori🤟🏻
So glad I got to see this played live a few weeks ago. I wasn’t expecting it.
This song live.....🧠💥
Another great review. love the new setup!
Adam Jones is playing a talk box during the solo. He uses his mouth to influence the guitar sound.
That is insane !!
you two... i've watched some of your videos ( reaction of judith, wings for mary, sober, the pot, 10'000 days and this) and I just admire your love for each other and your open mindedness (is this a word?) in general and for the situation the writer of this and every other mentioned song presents himself. I really hope there are more people like you in this world and I wish you the very best. Greetings from Switzerland
Yes! This is my favorite Tool song. So badass.
That's a cool idea and would satisfy the double meaning for sure. As for the Jambi chant, Adam Jones talked about it at a guitar clinic I think.
Don't know why I like these reaction videos so much - maybe it's because I relive the first time I heard these tracks. A little human connection. Thanks a lot for doing these!
He can do it live :) If you ever get a chance grab some tickets and go see them :)
Love the song, love the reaction, love the lyrics analysis, love you both! Klone - Immaculate Desire
Vicarious next please!! ^-^
One of my favorite songs of all time and I love seeing people react to it ❤️

Try their live version of "pushit" off the Salival album
Edit: Tempted the Devil and got what I wanted all along is referencing him living the lifestyle he had been and still being blessed with a child that he probably didn't even realize he wanted all along.
putraceface I always thought it was about his son as well. H. Is also about Devo (his son)
Cool!! Glad u joined! Much love! -Sori🤟🏻
Yal are great! God bless yal moving forward ☺️ Yal have a real talent on evaluating songs and life in general! Huge fan
Thanks Cory! -Sori🤟🏻
VinAnd Sori no problem! Yal should do a bible study ☺️
Years ago I saw them live and when they did Jambi that part where he does the part of song where he starts with dim my eyes. Maynard was wearing a cowboy hat. He contorted himself all the way back and swung the cowboy hat around while belting out the lyrics it was amazing.
For heavier Tool songs:
Jerk off
Ticks and Leeches
Hooker with a Penis
Part of me
More distorted heavy riffs and very angry side of Maynard vocally. MJK does pull the majority of what you hear on the album live. I have seen a few times where he cuts it short and then other times he nails. Maybe he adjusts to how he is feeling that day to give a better performance.
Other fun tracks:
Pushit ( Salival version is my favorite but original is great too)
No Quarter ( Led Zeppelin cover)
#vinisnprettyalrighttoo
Just kidding. We love you as well. Just had to make fun.
12:40 that’s called a polyrhythm! it’s when you mix two different time signatures such as 5/4 and 6/8 so the time only meets up every 4 bars. it’s really cool and tool does it so much
It’s legit!!!
that's a polymeter, polyrhythm is if one was playing triplets and duplets at the same time or something like that.
Wow guys i realy love this video!! Thanks!!
Tool and A Perfect Circle are both playing in northern Wisconsin next weekend. Would make my day if I saw you both in the crowd.
Vin: Real men take their ladies to see Tool. 😉
Peace!
45 minutes, bro I need to add this to my watch later 😂
Hahhah !! -Sori🤟🏻
their cover of No Quarter, Stranglehold and Demon Cleaner are all great too.
45 minutes just felt like 10, great song, great reaction, great conversation, I just want to sit down and eat a pizza with u guys LOL
Soon my dude !
WOW, one of my all time favorites! Couldn't get to the hotel room to fire up my laptop fast enough.
Tool - Vicarious
Caught me by surprise, thought you guys will hold Tool reactions until doing the Lateralus review
Loved the reaction and the discussion that went through, was such a nice pick!
Everything for tool fans!
Parabola and jambi are my favorite tool songs I haven't watched the vid yet but the shine on benevolent son is referring to Jesus I hope lol btw just got done recording my ep waiting to master it than hopefully I can send it to you guys
That lyric video is all kinds of fucked up too lol
My interpretation of it was he's gotten everything he's worked for with the kings mountain view feasting on endless treasures and flesh but is still not satisfied and would give it all away for some sort of divine intervention with the whole benevolent son 2 become one father and son thing or hes relating it to his mom as well with the I'd wish it all away if he'd lose her parabola is heavy in the 2nd half the grudge is heavy stinkfist also
Can’t do Parabola without Parabol, but they will surly cover that in their Lateralus album exposition
Mark Shaffer absolutely they are a package deal for sure was honestly just to lazy to type the whole thing lmao
Vin, he can do that live for sure. I've seen it. He's been arguably my favorite singer for a long time. He's just so good. \,,/
Salival Live Push It. Get to listening.
hunnid pacent!
Well then...I'll just stand over here. Haha!
LOL I was only joking in the way i agreed with you, but I do wholeheartedly agree with you.
Go to a Tool concert. . . there is no other show quite like it. . . and their sound live is as good as any I've heard and I've been to hundreds of concerts. Love watching you guys keep it up!
