I made this last weekend with heirloom tomatoes and cherry tomatoes. It was so amazing! My family was shocked when i told them it didn't have cream! I have absolutely LOVED every recipe of yours i have tried. Tomorrow i am making your lemon bars, and i am so excited to see how they turn out. Also props on your vanilla bean scones! they were so delicious, i loved the buttery flavor and that hint of salt you get at the end. Im 15 years old and my dream is to be a chef, i'm so happy i found you!
The first time I made this I used regular tomatoes and it didn't taste really good. I tried it again with fresh Roma tomatoes and canned Roma tomatoes ( like in her recipe) and it came out so good! Be sure to use the right kind if you are going to make this!
My boyfriend LOVES this .. I make it all the time I love it to death !!! so amazing and fresh and it tastes like it has cream in it ! it's sooo smooth and creamy!
I have made this soup several times and it’s always delicious! Fresh basil is better; but dried basil mixed in with the other seasonings also makes for delicious soup. So easy to make and is always a hit!
Beautiful recipe as always Laura :) Roasting tomatoes really do give them the most delicious flavour. Growing up my dad always made us pesto mozzarella toasties to eat with our soup and to this day it's still one of my favourite meals. When we visit my parents they always have this soup waiting for us and it's the most homely cosy soup in the world :)
Hi Laura. Thank you so much for posting this vid. Can brown sugar be used instead of white sugar? My best friend doesn't keep white sugar in his house at all, he uses and has brown sugar but doesn't put it in his cooking. Thank you heaps.

On your blog with the recipe , it said 1 lbs tomatoes. What does that mean ? ? ? ? How much tomatoes should I use? ? ? ? (answer in cups and / or ounces ) Can I use water instead of what you used to thin out the soup ? ?
A friend of mine gave me a huge batch of home grown tomatos and I was wondering what to do with them since I'm not a huge raw tomato eater. Then I saw this recipe and boooooom, the most delicious tomato soup eveeeeer was created. I did some herb-croutons with it, everybody loved it. So easy, so delicious. Definitely going to make this again.
Omg I am sooo making this tonight! We have a bunch of fresh tomatoes from our garden and I didn't know what to do with all of them! :) perfect recipe!!

I'm Dutch, I'll us 'extra belegen' (extra ripened) Gouda :-) I always thought tomato soup would be difficult to make, but it turns out soup is sooo easy, I love it!

Did you let everything cool before blending, or is your blender able to blend hot things with it exploding? You didn't mention either but I feel it's important to know...I learned the hard way years ago. :) Love that this has no cream and looks so great!

I asked a few times of others which is a great olive oil. Which olive oil do you prefer ? Thanking you in advance for a reply.
I didn't have any basil so I used cilantro and some dried Italian seasonings. I'm going to use the leftovers for mexican rice and sopa de fideo:)
