    Hi everyone!
    So I did research..
    And I can surely tell you..
    I'll have nightmares from this.
    I've seen foxes, skinned alive. Hang up, pulling down fur from bloody carcasses. Bloody bodies kicking, screaming, trying to escape as they bleed to dead.
    That's how chinese furfarming (aliexpress, wish, 70% ebay, 70% amazon) works..
    I've seen foxes being electrocuted. Sometimes once is enough, sometimes 20min long until the fox finally dies. This is 'humane' furfarming. They say: 1 chock which directly 'deactives' the brain and any nerves from working. Heart stops immediatly and they experience no pain other than fear for the shok. However in reality, only 40% of foxes die in once. 60% has to be electrocuted multiple times or for long periods of time. Many, are still alive when being skinned. Another method is gas. A toxic gas will fill a chamber full of foxes until, 5 to 20 minutes later, they all either die of the toxics, or sufficate as there isn't any air. Another way is some kind of pain killer, which the vet gives your dog when you put your dog to sleep.. this is 'humane' furfarming by law. Done in Europe and America.
    I've seen animals, screaming till dead..
    I've seen 4 week old cubs without paws and tails..
    I've seen adult foxes Bite themselves till they die..
    I've done research.. for this video..
    And that's why I want to share this with you.
    In this video however, I tried to keep the graphics not Too shoking. While still showing reality.
    But be aware I show graphic content in this video, which includes dead animals, hurt animals and physical abuse.
    I'll talk in this video about the differences in outlook, cost, quality, cruelty,.. between your cheap wish/aliexpress tails, your average tail from a local market or amazon and your High qaulity, expensive tails from wish and individual breeders/taxidermists etc.
    I hope this information is helpfull, and might teach u something you didn't know yet.
    Please, if you buy a real fur tail, know that tails are never completely innocent. Check where you're buying from and how they work. Think before you act.
    RECOMMANDED PLACES TO BUY:
    -Etsy shops
    like : Lykos leathers ,Oakenfoxshoppe, ValkyrjaAllure (buys from furtails, but unlike with furtails you can chose your specific tail), WhiteRabbitTaxidermy, TheWildThingsPassion,HideItAwlLeather, Vfurs is recommanded but a big furfarm rather than also taxidermy like others so far
    -Local markets
    Look out for christmas markets, or other of such kinds. Those often have tails.
    -Local comic(/anime/larp/art/..) conventions.
    I actually buy most of my tails from local comic conventions. Those are usually small business/hobby furfarmers or taxidermists instead of big companies.
    -The tail shop
    An instagram store
    -Wylder taxidermy
    An instagram store
    -Glacierwear
    This is a big furfarm but people in the community say the tails are very high quality, it's from america so cruelty should be duable but I'm not sure how cruel they are.
    -Furtail / furtails , a known american furfarm. Unsure how cruel exactly but people say the quality is good.
    -Some specific amazon shops, like forison and ursfur (recommended by a ytb watcher)
    -Local taxidermists , vulture culture, fur collectors and craftman. Check facebook groups, websites, forums!
    -Directly from local furfarms if your laws are to be trusted and you can research the furfarm before getting a tail.
    -Roadkill, you can also do this yourself with some experience and craftmanship. Check your roads, forests,.. and collect furs yourself.
    Thanks to 'Mama Hanji', I can share you a link of a blog they made about tail, fur and other animal-part selling suppliers: aminoapps.com/p...
    PLACES I ABSOLUTELY DON'T RECOMMAND:
    -Wish (cruel chinese furfarm, no laws around treating animals)
    -Aliexpress (same)
    -Alibaba (same)
    -70+% of amazon (same)
    -70+% of ebay (same)
    -any giant furfarm should not be trusted untill further research.
    -any furfarm that's not from Europe or America
    --
    Credit to 'Mama Hanji' for making me aware of 'beavercat tails' (and possible other sold furs and tails on chinese websites) that are actual dog and cat tails. (chinese furfarming is also explained in this blog)

    It breaks my heart to see animals treated like that. It’s wrong and unhumane. I hate it so much! If people order tails from eBay and it turns out to be a real tail they should be upset but they should honour the animals life, be careful in future and never buy from the same seller again

    A good tip is the quality and flat-faced honesty of the shop! Most good shops, especially eco-friendly shops, will answer all questions about the origins of their furs. Quality is also important as an unhealthy and unhappy fox wont give a good tail. I have two red fox tails about 15” in length. One is from a Chinese fur farm and one is from a roadkill taxidermist. The roadkill looks like a proper fox tail with deep reds, clean fur, a nice smell, and strong leather. The Chinese variety is a dirty sandy brown in color, has short, scraggly, nasty fur, smells like oil and machines, and will probably break with a single tug. If reviews paint a tail as nasty and rotting and miscolored, the animal probably wasn’t treated well. Fur is like hair, a reflection of health and happiness.

    • @PDTherian
      @PDTherian  6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I wouldn't know why wool would be cruel? If it's a sheep pelt with leather, yeh then for sure as they killed the animal. But otherwise they just shave the animal. They don't hurt it. For as far as I know

    • @PDTherian
      @PDTherian  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Ase Akhal-Teke weird. In my country. They got sheeps which will live on big fields and naturally grow their pelt. Then everytime it's "time". They get shaved. And putten back on the fields. Grow again, shave again. And so on. Lambs often get born. Sometimes too much tho and are then sold to other farmers, eaten by the farmer or sold to a slaughter house.
      But besides that, no one is hurt or killed.

    I just bought my first tail from a Pride event vendor! It was 30$ and I asked many questions before buying it and knew certainly it was sourced ethically. I felt such a connection to it and am so happy to have gotten an animal that lived. That lived and that warms my heart that I can continue its soul through mine. The vendors were named EARTH SKY BONE.

    I have a beautiful coyote tail that was preserved by a native. I bought it from Etsy and it came with a coyote skull, a coyote's face, coyote teeth, coyote toe bones and coyote claws. All of these parts were ethically sourced and as far as I can remember, the coyote/coyotes died from natural causes.
    The fact that the tail was ethically sourced makes me value the coyote tail very much, even though it's not even wearable.
    I plan to make it wearable by sewing some fabric onto the exposed leather and creating a loop so I can attach a keyring loop, and then attach one of those telephone cable hairbands (as shown in your pull-proof tail video) onto the keyring loop, hopefully the tail will become wearable and pull-resistant.

    • @PDTherian
      @PDTherian  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      very cool idea! another possibility is to create a hole in the leather (1-2cm away from any edges!) and add a gommet to prevent the leather ripping due pressure of the keychain ring/rope/.. through the hole while wearing. This is the most used method of wearing tails by therians :)

    I never trusted/liked fur farms either way, even if it is “cruelty free” it’s still saddening, at least to all of us because we love animals, they are like our family so please people I beg you... DO NOT buy from cruel fur farms, I would be ok with cruelty free fur farms because the animals most likely died of natural causes :’) :3 Great video as usual PD! I find these very educational about therianthropy (by the way do you know any websites that are cheaper and have FAUX FUR not REAL FUR?)

    • @PDTherian
      @PDTherian  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm glad you enjoyed the video, and well I don't really. You can make yarn tails yourself, there are many tutorials online.
      Faux fur is usually actually so expensive, and more expensive than real fur, as the materials are a lot more expensive (u pay 20$ for a metre of faux fur.. for good quality), besides that there are many hours of hand sewing into them. Spots, stripes and realistic patterns/shades are by "airbrushing" (painting) etc. This all takes a lot of work, which rises up the price. Etsy is your best shot, fursuit fb groups or making urself

    it's disgusting how far people are willing to go for money and beauty. Animal testing, fur farms, etc. are just absolutely disgusting, disturbing, sad, and just simply horrific. It's way to far to murder and torture those foxes that didn't even get a chance at life, heck, guessing they wouldn't even get half way through life and then they immediately get killed for cheap tails that are just mass produced and just disgusting and out of hand. I literally had a shaking hand over another tab I was going to click if it was getting to heavy for me to watch. And not even 5 seconds in, I clicked off and just blankly stared at my screen. And the sad thing is that other people will be willingly buying cruel fur farm tails either knowing the conditions or not.

    • @Sp0ttedPaws
      @Sp0ttedPaws 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      And the fact that they are just taking dogs and cats off of the streets that still had a loving family and just animals that actually had a chance at life get taken off and strangled and stomped. Its so disgusting. The silver fox frantically running around the cage just broke my heart, the way the forced those animals or of the cages with metal sticks and wires around their necks and even the baby foxes. BABY. FOXES. They didn't even get to see their family before getting their fur ripped off and just thrown onto a pile of their own kind and other animals. I ever thought it would be so bad. I just wish these countries had animal rights.

    • @PDTherian
      @PDTherian  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sadly enough, amazon, wish and aliexpress are known to advertise real tails as fake. Why: by example america has laws that only a few specific furfarm fox furs can be imported and by example hunted fur cannot be exported. So technicly, china can't legally import some furs into america. So they lose sellers. But by advertising it as fake.. problem solved. :/

    Poor foxes, ima questioning silver fox therian/questioning black and white cat and i have two tails that are keychain from temu, they bith show signs of being real and fake, its all i can afford sadly. I have a feeling the black one is fake since some of it is starting to look like brushed yarn but im not sure about the grey,
    I also hate that people always say "its from china" im british chinese and not alk tails from china are from cruel fur farms, or just real tails at all. And its also most of asia and other countries too

    most fur farmers want to take good care of their animals. fur farmers don't make any money off of tails. how it works is that the farmer sells the fox wholesale to auction houses, these auction houses make the money from the fur. if the cheaper normally the farmer doesn't make money

  • @Katinnity

    I bought a tail from wish.. I knew the risks of eBay and Amazon but the tail off wish claimed to be real but died of natural causes.. Idk?

    • @PDTherian
      @PDTherian  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wish is a chinese wholesale market. Sadly enough all of those tails come from cruel furfarms and at the very least, not of dead by natural causes. only coyote tails are hunt as they can't be furfarmed, which is why wish barely sells any coyote tails. Any fox tail on hunt is furfarmed as they are a 'store' and not a taxidermy or hunting company. It's a wholesale market for stores to sell to other stores (originally, by now the small people use wish too however but the purpose is still the same, selling cheap products to other stores in usually high quantities.)
      so if it's a fox tail from wish..
      it's sadly enough 99% sure cruel as furfarms in china do not have Any rule. So they work as cheap as possible.. which is cruel.

      @PDTherian  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're welcome! And don't worry, don't feel bad about something you didn't know. Learn for the future and use the tail to the fullest right now.
      I recommend u to watch my 'alternative gear // where to buy gear' video: th-cam.com/video/wHOY1xHVuU0/w-d-xo.html.
      I explain in full detail where u can buy gear and tails specificly during this video. Please also read the description as I marked the seconds (time) in there which u can click (works only on pc) per section that might be interesting for u. Also in the description I mention a lot of shops (of which some on etsy) and usefull links. :D
      The esty shops I personally recommend the most are: LykosLeather, ValkyrjaAullure and OakenFoxShoppe. Besides that Vfurs is the most recommended american furfarm to buy from and TheWildThingsPassion should work with mainly roadkill/hunt and only very few furfarm tails so they are a good alternative if you're looking for hunted/roadkill foxes. (
      Oakenfoxshoppe also sometimes has coywolf tails ;) )
      Those are the places most of my friends bought from.
      'The tails shop' on instagram however is also highly recommended by my friends and me if you're looking for high quality, cruel free furfarm fox tails. Even more cruel free than most etsy sellers who're furfarms.
      DISCLAIMER: even on etsy, plz be carefull. Chinese furfarms nowedays als sometimes come to etsy. I recommend you to with any shop that I did not state in describtion or this video check 2x the describtion, name and seller; if either of those are chinese, state to be chinese or sound chinese, I'd recommend to stay away from it.
      You're also free to send me a link to a tail/shop if you want me to check it for you :) I don't mind that.

    Since I got a few tails,1 form forison, 1 form Valkyrie Allures and one was a tail I got some where in Gatlinburg(I think that how you spell it?).
    I loved all the tails I gotten but I want another one since of what happen to the forison one. I do like the tail I got,it was a sliver but now it like sky blue or something like that. It was nice,it look really great,smell nice and the leather was hardly seen.
    The one I got form Valkyrie allure was a Eco friendly fox tail. It a little bit small then the one I got at the belt/pelt store. It nice still
    The last tail I got is a black and blue(I have no idea what fox tail it is) it more big and fluffy. It also nice looking and I also love it.
    I only have two tails right now but I want one because I didn't realize the one tail I got wasn't the right one,my fault but I do want to get one form forison as to see if they are really worth to get it

    • @Strandyeen
      @Strandyeen 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The idea of having a fake tail sounds better (when you think about cruelty, etc.), but then there's the issue of what the fake tail is made from. Plastic. Fake fur tails are just made of plastic fibres, and if they reach the ocean they can do damage to many animals.
      In my opinion, I think it's best to find a real fur tail from a cruelty-free seller. Minimal damage that way..

    • @PDTherian
      @PDTherian  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Best ways are: first check if they're from china or america/europ. Never trust any shop from China. America and Europe can given the benefit of the doubt. Then, research. Ask from people who bought there before, or from others with experience. By example, Ask around.
      OakenFoxShoppe is very well known within the therian community and by that there is a lot of info on them. So we know, they do sell a few roadkill tails, and a few hunt tails. Sometimes even coywolfs. But they also sell a lot of furfarm tails. However it's known that OakenFoxShoppe breeds those themselves, and without cruelty. It's also a rumor that OakenFoxShoppe is a therian themselves. (some furshops are actually therians). They're known for great quality.
      Vfurs is also very well known, but other than OakenFoxShopp, besides their coyote tails, they're 100% furfarm. The quality is very nice, and they're also an american. While they say they are 'died from natural causes', this might only be 20% of their tails. 80% of their tails are furfarm foxes. Their quality is said to be amazing but it's doubtable how cruel they work looking at how a huge amount of tails they produce and sell (as they're popular). America is eitherway less cruel than China however.
      The_tail_shop is actually a highly recommanded shop. Either from USA or EU (not entirely sure, they ain't clear). They basicly sell tails they get from others. So they don't breed themselves. They are very honest about if the tail is broken etc too. But as they basicly sell from others, it's a mystery where exactly your tail came from. EU and USA furfarms are better than China but it is a con not knowing which exact furfarm it's from. Luckily, a friend of mine has experience with them, and they don't mind answering any question so you can just ask them where exactly the tail was from.
      It's really all just about checking where they're from, reviews of others and what is generally known about them by others.
      You can also try looking at the quality, lenght, thickness etc. And a individual picture is way more to be trusted than a stock photo.
      Just to name a few tips.

    (I had to post this 4 times as i had to reword alot so sorry for the notifications)
    Do most therians support these by buying real animals or is it a small percentage?
    Thank you ^^

    • @PDTherian
      @PDTherian  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      not exactly, there are good and bad furfarms. @flattailfurs by example is a Great american furfarm that treats her foxes amazingly well. Walking them, clipping the nails, taking sick ones on their lap, playing with the kits in the playpens etc. So buying from furfarms isn't always bad or supporting cruelty. But, a lot (nearly all) chinese furfarms (nearly all tails on amazon, aliexpres, wish and ebay) however are very cruel, beat their animals, put them in small cages, clean the cages with the animal still in with hot pressured water, break their spine to prevent them from fighting back etc etc. Often, this is seen within the fur keychain: the quality is bad, the tail is small, it stinks and the tail is usually faint in colour or dyed blue to make it look brighter and darker in colour (colour is a sign of health)
      so, it's very important to check the shop and seller as well as the reviews. To ensure you're buying from a humane and cruelfree furfarm.

      Gabrielle M I’m glad you checked. First of, one should never purchase real fur from amazon, ebay, aliexpres or wish. This as the tails from these sites come from chinese furfarms which are shown in this video as the horrible cruel places they are who beat up animals etc. I advive you to read the description of this video: th-cam.com/video/wHOY1xHVuU0/w-d-xo.html
      For a fast answer I’d advice taking a look at furtail.com or furtails.com, as they offer very budget friendly tails.
      For Mounan specificly there are 3 big warning signs:
      1. The tails are “imported”. Which means they’re not from america. Likely they come from china as if they were european then they’d state that as european tails are known for their amazin quality. So one wouldn’t keep quiet with something they can ask extra money for :/
      2. They steal pictures from other sellers. Non of these pictures are their own. Worse... they come from wish and aliexpres.
      4. The clasps on these tails are typical for chinese produced tails.
      Even though I couldn’t access the sellers page so couldn’t see of they happened to be chinese or have a location in china..
      those 3 factors tell they’re likely chinese so likely cruelly obtained tails. I’d advice not purchasing from Mounan.
      If for some reason you can truely only use amazon, then look into Ursfur. Their tails should be american.
      Otherwise, take a look at the describtion of that video. Any of these tails will always be better than amazon tails.

    Some are faux fur tales witch look like real tails (i use faux fur for my tails)

    • @PDTherian
      @PDTherian  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Be carefull! Wish, aliexpress and amazon advertise Real tails as 'faux' or 'fake'. 80% of 'fake' tails on wish/aliexpress/amazon/ebay are real! Check the leather inside to be sure (watch my 'tail care guide' video no how to check the leather). If it has leather -> it's 100% real.
      Why do they do this? By example, america has some fur laws. only a few specific furfarm fox furs can be imported/exported and hunted pelts from america aren't allowed at all to be exported. Which means that a chinese furfarm can't sell a lot of specific tails towards america. Which means they lose sellers -> less money. To prevent this, they'll advertise a Real tails as 'fake' or 'faux fur' as this allows them to ship to america by example.
      Besides that ANY realistic looking tail should cost above 40$ as realistic tails need hours of hand sewing, airbrushing stripes/spots/shades of fur (airbrush is a special painting method) and fur alone will cost you $20 per metre etc etc. Which makes fake fur tails often so expensive, especially if they look realistic. clockwork-creature.myshopify.com/collections/tails you see how expensive those tails are? Well that's a very normal price for such high quality, realistic looking tails.
      Meaning that ANY realistic looking tail under $15 is really.. just a real fur tail.
      ESPECIALLY on wish/amazon/ebay/aliexpress.
      If you bought some realistic looking 'fake' tails on wish/amazon/aliexpress/ebay. You can always send me links of the tails/shops or pictures through therian amino. And simply by looking at the tail. I'll be able to tell you if they're real or fake. If I'm not sure, I'll explain to you how you can check the leather to be sure.

    • @PDTherian
      @PDTherian  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, if you give me the name of the shop, I can quickly check for you? I know quiet a lot of shops on etsy and know which ones are cruel, not cruel, .. etc etc. So I can check for you to be sure.
      However Etsy is really the best place to buy tails (read my 'recommanded list' in the describtion to find other good places). And £20 is like $26. So seeing at the price.. the tail should be pretty okay. Higher prices ain't a guarantee, but usually are a lot better quality and a lot less cruel.

      Sadly enough I have to inform you that this is a chinese furfarm shop. I can notice by A. the keychains, those are specificly and almost only used at either aliexpress, wish or amazon tails and any chinese furfarm tail. B. The seller is from china..
      By this, this tail is most likely cruelly gained.
      As China has, as showed in the videos, no laws around how to treat an animal.

However 'human' still means they live in tiny cages and are being electrocuted, poisened or sufficated to dead. Which is less bad then skinned alive, beaten by sticks or such however. Not all farms work like this, but a big chunk still does sadly enough. Even in america or europe (in my experience europe is a bit less cruel as they're more strict on the rules and checking the furfarms). However a tail bought in america.. could still be imported from a china furfarm, keep that in mind.
      I hope the tail was Actually cruel free gained! :) Eitherway: have fun with it!
      And you're welcome!

    Killing the animal is terrible, they could have let it live it’s life first before using their tail, or finding one that’s dead . It might seem worse finding one that’s dead but it’s safer then killing it and less harmful . Rip the animals 😢 I am so so so so anyones with those stupid farmers .

      I'd advice you to rethink if fake fur (plastic) is really any less cruel. Vid: th-cam.com/video/sIfIfe8PwmU/w-d-xo.html
      Fake tails aren't any better for the earth and it's animals either, as it's plastic and it's known that 1 plastic bag standard kills 20 animals. A plastic tail will also eventually kill lots of animals. Not within 10 minutes but over 2 weeks of starving and sufficating slowly. Plastic takes up to thousands of years to dissapear and it already takes 200 years just to rip itself into pieces.. Plastic tails do more damage to animals, the earth and humans in the long run..
      This is why I stay with real fur tails. 1 tail, one death. Not 20 or a few hunderd. And fast etc. But just as I buy my eggs from free roam chickens and steak from cruel-free cowfarms.. I buy my tail from cruel-free furfarms who care well for the animal and ensure a stressless and painless death.
      It's up to you to make an own decision however of which one you prefer. I can only give you somethign to think about! :)
      Also, must you want to buy real tails: please read the description of this video for good and bad shops!

      Many tails on aliexpress, amazon, ebay and wish are advertised as fake. But happen to be real instate. This because they often can't legally import several kinds of furs into america and other countries. But that means that they would lose customers, and lose money by that. So instead they'll advertise their tail as fake. That way they gain customers :/
      If you give me the link of the shop/the exact tail you bought then I might be able to tell you already if it's fake or real. If you don't have the link anymore or can't find it back. You can always send me on therian amino (PD pinkdolphin) or PD youtube community amino (PD pinkdolphin) and send me a few pictures so I can help you figure out.
      You can also try to check if it has leather. If it has leather, it's real. I explain it through this link how you can check the leather (the exact time is marked) th-cam.com/video/Q6evQzuB2Q4/w-d-xo.htmlm11s

    *buy faux fur tails*

    • @PDTherian
      @PDTherian  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly, it depends. Faux fur tails are often made by using 'child labor' and afterwards when being thrown away, the toxicness can destroy the world. (after all, faux fur is actually just plastic, unless you use yarn). So I'd say buying a roadkill tail is less cruel then (the animal was hit by a carm, died of sickness,.. so you didn't kill it or such for the fur) or 'regulated hunt' (aka when people have to shoot foxes because of an overpopulation that ain't healthy anymore, instead of throwing away the pelts, they better be used as a keychain. Regulated hunt is Ordered by some kind of goverment by the way, so not hunting at own decision or for fun).
      But yes, cruel furfarm foxes ain't good, and then you should better go for faux fur as that's less painfull etc.

    Can someone please help me to understand how getting real fur tails from an animal that was trapped from the wild and killed for the purpose of taking their fur is ethical? Or breeding them into existence on a local or not fur farm for the purpose of killing them to take their fur. How can buying from a deemed unethical furfarm and turning around to sell it on an etsy be ethical? Treating someone like a product and something that can be sold and traded is in no way ethical or kind or good to me. We clearly know they can suffer, they can experience joy and sadness and fear, they are individuals, and deserve enough consideration to distinguish more cruel from less cruel. So why are we robbing them of their lives for such trivial reasons. Is the pleasure of owning a tail that once was attached to a living being really worth the life taken? Would you feel better if you were killed in a less cruel way then China dose it and given a $50 price tag instead of a $2 one? Would that make you feel like you being killed was justified? These animals are the closest to domestic dogs there are in the animal kingdom, but if someone was trapping dogs off the streets or breeding them to skin them and sell their fur there would be a public outrage and they would be arrested for animal cruelty and most likely given some kind of psychotic diagnosis. Can someone please explain to be what the difference is between these animals that makes it morally acceptable to do this to one but not the other?

    • @PDTherian
      @PDTherian  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't have much time today to give you a worthy and detailed reply that'll answer your whole question..but I'll answer a few things:
      "Can someone please explain to be what the difference is between these animals that makes it morally acceptable to do this to one but not the other?"
      -> there is no difference. It's as morally correct or morally wrong to kill a cow, dog, pig, fox,.. Because all the 'cute pet animal to be loved-arguments is just culturally influenced and subjective. Cows would arguably suffer more than foxes due being able to remember and understand more etc, but that's a debate on its own.
      " Would you feel better if you were killed in a less cruel way then China dose it and given a $50 price tag instead of a $2 one? "
      The pricetag has nothing to do with worth or feeling better about it,
      but is purely linked to the healthcare and animal welfare of said animals. 3$ cannot pay for the food, vetcare, freeroam time, petting or playtime, clean cages,..these animals need to be cared for, atleast a bare minimum or better.. decent or good lives (ex: instagram.com/flattailfurs/ is a furfarm that does more than such minimum as they also clip nails, walk foxes, provide care inside their own house for sick animals,...)
      With $20 or more you can actually help pay for the creatures care and have more guarantee that the place you bought your tail from is taking care of the creatures rather than letting them rot and starve in filthy cages.
      " How can buying from a deemed unethical furfarm and turning around to sell it on an etsy be ethical? "
      Most Therians that do buy real fur say to check any shop before you blindly buy from them. Lots of etsy shops buy stock from chinese furfarms who don't have or don't follow animal wellfare laws. If you don't know where a shop buys their stock from, or it is chinese, don't buy from the esty shop obviously :) It'd indeed just be stupid or hypocrite to talk badly of chinese furfarms but then continue to buy a $5 tail or obviously chinese tail that's 'overpriced' on etsy.
      I wish I could answer the rest of your comment, and I hope someone else will engage in a (respectful) debate with you. But I hope this could help a little already.
      At the end, eating meat.. getting tails.. getting make-up (mink fat and oil),.. getting that plastic lamp or toy (yes that's a whole cruel animal killing process on its own..),.. it's all really a 'bad or bad' scenario. And I totally get those who are against animal fur, your opinion is more than valid and grounded!

      @@PDTherian I am vegan so I avoid anything that exploits animals when and as practically possible. I find it extremely cruel and unnecessary to kill an animal for any reason other than survival or nessesity. I normally don't mention being vegan because people would rather hear a non-vegan out about animal crulity, but I see you are at least aware of the cognitive dissonance, but you simply do not care? I can not understand how someone can care enough about an animal's to give them a high welfare life then turn around and murder them or pay someone else to murder them so you can wear their tails. I somewhat understand animal ag because a lot of farmers are raised thinking it is nessessary and think people need meat. But fur tails is kind of hard to put on the same argument. There is no way anyone could claim owning a real fur tails is a nessessity. Synthetic fur tails exist. How can you claim to love animals yet kill them strictly for sensory pleaure?

    • @PDTherian
      @PDTherian  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@moonstar9559 I got total respect for vegans, and think both arguments from vegan and non-vegan people are equally important and valuable.
      Saying 'you simply don't care' is a bit too straight forward, feelings are a lot more complex than that. But I'm also uncapable of decently explaining how I exactly do feel or why I think certain things are or aren't okay. Ex. I only eat eggs from freeroam chickens because I care about chickens and their lifes and welfare (I've had pet chickens too, loved my rooster). But I also could say 'I refuse to eat eggs all together' cuz 'cruel free' is about impossible and we know what happens with chickens when they can't lay eggs anymore etc etc. So not caring is too strict, I sure care but.. in a more complex way?
      I'm raised on and around farms, which feeds into why I think certain acts are okay etc etc. And how I believe that cruel free meat does exist. And I'm not talking about dairy farm fabric meat stuff ofcourse were animals are painfully killed, I stay away from that. I buy locally.
      But it's not anything as rational and logical as 'thinking meat is necessary'. I know that it isn't necessary for Most people.
      I'd read up to plastic, its production and its harm. Syntethic tails are surely not any better than real fur tails and would hurt more animals in the process over hunderds of years in often much more cruel ways (fake fur is made of plastic)
      I got a little debate video about that here: th-cam.com/video/sIfIfe8PwmU/w-d-xo.html
      The best option would be 'no tail at all'

      @@PDTherian I'm sorry, all I am hearing is, I care about animals but not enough to respect their autonomy.
      If cruelty free meat exists than can we get cruelty free meat from any animal including humans? Dose an act like killing or slavery change depending on the victim? If so, why? What is it about non-human animals that makes it feel okay for us to exploit and use and kill as we see fit.
      I do not see refraining from eating meat or products that have a direct victim as extreme. It's an inaction.

      @@moonstar9559 If you ask me, yes human farms all the way :p human meat is supposed to be tasty I heard.
      I don't see a difference between cow and human.
      The only difference, which is a much more complex debate, might be the ability to process and understand things like knowing about death, what will happen,.. Now cows and pigs are very smart. But for example chickens or foxes don't have the same sense of understanding as humans and aslong as kept and handled well will not ever realize they're about to die for example so cannot stress about dying to start with.So they aren't suffering, like slaves or human 'livestock' would. Etc etc. So keeping humans in a farm will be extremely difficult due deaths around depression and stress and what not. So realisticly speaking, not possible.
      But in an ideal world? Yes, lets go farm humans.
      I'm not sure where "I do not see refraining from eating meat or products that have a direct victim as extreme." comes from, sometimes I see vegans (in particular but not solely) have the wrong image that all others who don't complely follow the same actions and standards think that being vegan is 'extreme'. No one here is saying that, and I surely am not. I have respect for your ability and desire to go fully vegan.

    I also wear a tail i got off of amazon and i just barely realized yesterday that it was real fur and i started crying.. the tail was more on the expensive side but it still broke my heart. I also wear the collar of one of my dogs that passed away a few years ago. I wear it because i think of it as respect in a way, it shows that i remember her, and love her enough to keep her with me everyday. i also do this with bird feathers, cat teeth, dog claws and rarely fur. (i only collect fur if i find it on the ground and i know that it was just shed.)
    Also random story: One time we heard a howl followed along with a few yipes, im pretty sure it was a coyote or something since we do live in st. george. The next morning i went outside and fur was left on our gate, i ended keeping it and i still have it now.

      I feel the same. As a buddhist, it is horrifying to realize i may have purchased a fur farmed tail (the seller claims it is wild)
      I will keep it and wear it. It reminds me of the work that must be done. I will cherish and honour the animal who died and bring new life to the body part. Seeing fur farmed pictures also enlightened me on something i had no idea on. I feel a reason to live and strive for more than ever seeing those. There is much work to be done, it seems. Wearing my tail will remind me of that.
      That being said i feel guilty when i wag my tail, or do fun things while wearing it, because it feels sick. It is one way of honouring the animal, bringing patt of it back. In my opinion. But still, i feel deeply guilty and horrified.

      Cant be sure its farmed since theres most evidence points to it being wild and not cruelly farmed. The sellers claim theyre native handmade products, and in my head i thougut it was a second hand tail because of this. However it does have the chinese lobster clamp which is gold. It may be they just bought those clamps for cheapness when making, but it means that its made quite recently. I dont really know how the fox died. Im more than happy to own tails that are roadkill or died of natural causes or illness in the wild. That feels just, to keep the spirit of the animal going. But not even ethical farms which seems like just 'not as bad' but still farmed.
