Gil just answered a question about those high birds coming from behind. I have always had a problem with them. I am anxious to get out and see if I hit one of them now. Thanks Gil.
I have no problem with right-to-left birds at sporting clays but for the life of me, I cannot get the left-to-right and on the rare chance I do, it is a miracle.
Pat...for a right hander the left to right target is more difficult because there is a tendency to move the gun away from our cheek...when that happens the gun is no longer shooting where we are looking...stay well.
....my favourite way to work out what to do on deceptive targets is to watch a few less experienced shooters and see where they're breaking the clay - eventually they will chip a few; back edge, front edge, underside. This gives me an insight into what's the issue. e.g. R/L dropping quartering standard blazer, looked fast Watched a group of 6 who shot a few but all chipping front edge (I thought they were missing over the top). So, too much lead?...I shot it just off leading edge and centred them....
Very helpful--I like Gil Ash,---me being English he sounds very different, but I think he is very straight forward and easy to understand. Trash can? Rubbish bin!
I'm reaching out to the great Yoda. Having a hard time hitting a Battue that never presents a flat face. Its like a springing teal away from you over the trees. not much time to track and shoot. Its a tough fast presentation and I cannot hit this bird. In fact most shooters cannot hit it. Help
sir too much of this stuff and it all feels like an illusion...even the gun movement... Hatts off either i am doing too much or nothing at all to miss that many
I love your common sense and approachable demeanor during this video. I feel this was valuable.
I love videos like this. Makes my trips to the sporting clay field much more fun to have these thoughts in mind.
Sage advice. The "illusion" of target trajectory was dead on! Thank you.
Came for the 😊shotgun tips, left with that and some tomato advice!! Thank you!!
I love listening to Gil Ash. I reckon he will get a comedy gig in Las Vegas as a comedian when hes not shooting....

Going to try the box method, great idea.

Right, you have to practice, and a knowledgeable spotter works wonders. Remember you can't hit what you don't see
