Drive (For Daddy Gene), Chattahoochee, Midnight in Montgomery, Chasin’ that Neon Rainbow, Mercury Blues, I could go on forever. Many of his are songs are based on his own life experiences. I love, love, love Alan Jackson!
Alan Jackson is one of the greatest country singers of all time. Decades if top ten hits!! You should do his song "Remember when". Or "Where we're you when the world stopped turning". 🤠
Yup! You are right that's a steel guitar. Alan Jackson is not only one of my favorite singers but my mom's too. "Remember When", Little Bitty, "Living on Love" and "Where we're you when the world stopped turning" but pretty much anything he sings will be good.
Little Bitty was big when my oldest grandson was born so it is definitely a favorite Alan Jackson song. I’ve seen at least three concerts. He’s amazing.
Because I've always been a sucker for a good love song, Remember When is probably my favorite AJ song. Another great one would be his duet with Jimmy Buffett, It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere.
A dulcimer is also played sitting on your lap like the steel guitar...I know they are not playing a dulcimer but I was just adding that little bit of knowledge 😂
You WANT country??? Try the 80's band Alabama. They're still together, occasionally record, and they still tour!!! "Love in the First Degree", "The Closer You Get", "Mountain Music", "Feels so Right", "Dixieland Delight", "Feels so Right", and "Old Flame", just to name a few. There are sooo many songs I couldn't name them all.
oh my gosh yes Alabama is definitely a must so many songs she and i 40 hour week Dixieland Delighy Mountain music, If your gonna play in Texas, Rollon, Angles among us old flame all amazing and many more!!!
That's my Country group. I just got to see Alabama, in Cedar Park, minus Jeff Cook, who is in the hospital, not doing to well (and of course Mark Herndon, unfortunately).
This is Alan Jackson, one of the godfathers of Country Music. You're listening to a legend. That is a steel guitar with the slide. And you do realize that Rock and Roll was actually born from the mix of country and jazz and country music had the electric guitar before Rock music did. You really do need to listen to more country. I think there is alot of country that will really surprise you.
It’s a steel guitar. Slide guitar is a more generic term for a style of play that can apply to pretty much any guitar that you set up to be played with a slide. But the most iconic slide style guitars are steel guitar and the dobro. Steel guitar you can pretty much only play with a slide unless you get real creative and do something funky
Alan Jackson is a Tall Drink of Water seen him many times in concert . Love Alan Jackson’s songs . Midnight in Montgomery , Gone Country , It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere , Where I Come From …. And his ultimate Where we’re you when the World Stopped Turning .
If you haven’t done it before you guys need to go boot scootin. So much fun. At any rate Alan Jackson is one of the greatest country artists of all time. He’s one of my personal favorites. So glad you guys found him.
"Chattahoochee", "Mercury Blues", "Summertime Blues", "It's Five O' Clock Somewhere" (ft Jimmu Buffet), "Livin' On Love", "Midnight in Montgomery" & "Remember When" are great AJ songs.
If Jordan liked that I'd like to see his reaction to Brooks & Dunn's "Boot Scootin' Boogie". One I'd really love to hear a reaction to though would be David Alan Coe's song, "You Never Even Called Me By My Name" which is the perfect country and western song.
And if you really want some in-depth lessons about country music history, listen to Tyler Mahan Coe's podcast "Cocaine & Rhinestones". (Yes, Tyler is David's son.)
That was George Jones at the very end. He got up and leaned against the jukebox. He was there the whole time sitting at the little table. Great cameo! Thanks for the country video. I'm enjoying the Christmas songs, too!
Alan sang at George’s funeral. It was so good. Vince Gill and Patty Loveless sang but they choked up so badly that we all cried along with them. TH-cam has the whole funeral. It sounds awful, but it was so heartfelt and respectful. So many artists paid tribute.
I love Alan Jackson! He sings one of the sweetest love songs ever that he wrote for his wife which is his high school sweetheart called "Remember When" Yall need to react to that one for sure!!!
Oh now you've done it! LOVE me some country!! Female Friday needs some Suzy Boggess, Pam Tillis, Patty Loveless, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Jo Dee Messina, Faith Hill, The Judds, and more Reba, Dolly, Shania Twain, Martina McBride then some Tammy Wynette, Tanya Tucker, K.T. Oslin and Lorrie Morgan
Country, during the 90's, took a little swing towards the southern rock sound, as well as a lighter tone. You'll find many songs during this time (you've already discovered Shania Twain) that are a different sub-genre of the traditional country sound. Some artists you might look into are Garth Brooks, Clint Black, Joe Diffie, Brooks & Dunn, Travis Tritt, and others. Some female artists from the 90's for your Fridays could be Pam Tillis, Martina McBride, Trisha Yearwood, Pattie Loveless, Faith Hill. Also the previously mentioned Shania Twain had a ton of hits (maybe the 2nd biggest 90's artist to Garth Brooks!)
His songs “Midnight in Montgomery”, Where were you when the World stopped turning” and “Remember When.” Just to name a few- I’m not a huge country fan, however Alan is one of my favorites- GREAT storytelling! Also check out the band Alabama,please- I PROMISE there’s a ton of country y’all will dig! 💜💙👍
Awesome choice! Alan Jackson has many awesome songs. Fast songs: Mercury Blues, Chattahoochee, Little Bitty. Awesome slower song: Remember when a must! Brooks and Dunn and George Strait I would recommend as well :)
Alan was very prolific in the 90’s. Even though that was the era that Country seemed to go more pop and rock, Alan mostly stayed Country. You’re right, it’s the most country song you’ve reacted to.
Because my mom was a fan of the genre, I grew up listening to country music so most of what I am familiar with was music she introduced me to (guys - do Marty Robbins!). But Alan Jackson was the other way around - I came across him myself and became a fan without my mom's influence. Then I introduced his music to her and she because a fan. Because of that, he represents something of a "full circle" to me. So I definitely enjoyed being reminded of him. Oh and Jay and Amber have reacted to a couple of Loretta Lynn songs so I don't know if I would say this is the "most" country song they've done. ;) Against something like "Coal Miner's Daughter" or "You Ain't Woman Enough to Take My Man" I would say it is perhaps a tie. :)
Was a fan of the more 70’s and 80’s style of country. By the time I was losing focus with country, I was aware of Alan, Garth, Brooks and Dunn and Travis Tritt right when they were getting started. Now probably the closest to those guys is Chris Stapleton.
Great song. I've seen Alan Jackson in concert in the 90s and he is awesome. You to need to do Alan Jackson's Remember When and try to keep your eyes dry. It is beyond good! Also. Chattahoochee is really good too!
If Alan Jackson's " Where were You when the World Stopped Turning" Doesn't bring a tear to your eye nothing else would. (Topic: The Sept.11th attack) As far as Electric Guitars in country music....Brad Paisley "Whiskey Lulliby" Is ranked by many in the top 20 guitarists of all genres. Country Star Vince Gill ("Go Rest High on the Mountain") was offered a slot by Mark Knopfler to join Dire Straights. Kieth Urban "You'll Think Of Me" is an awesome electric guitarist. But the best one of all is Chet Atkins. If you want to listen to Guitar Picking like you've never heard it before listen to Chet playing "Yakety Axe", Better yet get the album "Neck and Neck" featuring Chet Atkins and Mark Knopler playing a variety of guitar songs with unbelievable styles.
Did you "get" that the old man jiving at the table was George Jones, the one he kept singing about. He is the one who was arrested for driving while drunk on a John Deere tractor. (His wife hid his keys, so he couldn't go to the bar & drink.) Other country? Shania Twain: "Any Many of Mine"
Alan Jackson is a legend and his music library covers everything you could imagine. Chattahoochee for faster paced fun, Monday Morning Church for tear you to pieces heart break. You should really do more Alan. Brad Paisley is an incredible guitar player and has covered Van Halen’s Hot For Teacher on stage.
Alan Jackson has a lot of good songs. She's Got the Rhythm (I Got the Blues) Chattahoochie Livin' On Love 5 O'Clock Somewhere Gone Country Remember When Where Were You
Alan Jackson is very good. He did a duet with George Strait a few years back called "Murder on Music Row" that was awesome, you guys should give it a listen. Also, Chris LeDoux had a lot of great songs. "Call of the Wild", "Riding For A Fall", and "Hooked on an 8 Second Ride". Just to name a few.
Alan Jackson is pure...great country singer. You need to watch some Vince Gill! He is one of the greats on a guitar! In concert, he has a dozen that he plays all set up on stage! Also Brad Paisley! Great guitarist!
In 1999, George Jones had a latter day hit titled, “Choices” that won him a Grammy. Although some other more current artists were able to sing their songs in full, the CMAs asked Jones to sing only a partial version of his nominated song. Feeling slighted, Jones didn’t attend the ceremony at all. Alan Jackson was scheduled to sing a song called Pop A Top. After the first instrumental break, Jackson stopped cold and started to perform “Choices,” the George Jones tune. Once the crowd realized what he was doing, there was boisterous applause and a standing ovation. After singing, Jackson just took his guitar and walked off of the stage. Now, there are probably a dozen or two George Jones songs worth reacting to before getting to Choices, but it was a particularly boss move by Alan Jackson. He made his choice.
I was like this once...Country? My history of playing in bands went from 1980 thru 2007. All genres. I joined a country band in 92, sort of reluctantly because an old bass player buddy called me and asked me to come and join. I thought he was joking...Country? Come on! He said just come and jam along, youll get it. I wasnt quite sure what "get it" meant. He dropped of a few cassettes to learn 3 or 4 songs. I soon realized that modern country and especially country guitar playing wasnt what I thought. That Nashville studio crowd are some of the most mindblowingly great guitar players ever. The music was so refreshing. It was about real life, and the contrast of playing in rock bars to playing for folks in smaller town Honky Tonk bars was a beautiful thing. Dont Rock the Jukebox always packed the dancefloor.
I think most people think Country means there will be twang so they think they won't like it. I felt like 90's era Country had more in common with 50's/60's rock 'n' roll and had very little twang.
Alan Jackson is from my hometown. He used to go to my church when I was a kid before he took off and hit it big. Please explore more of his catalog. He has so many great songs.
I think this is what my mom called honky tonk music when I was younger. It’s got a story and it’s fun to dance to. You owe it to yourselves to hear his song “Itty Bitty.” If you want Oklahoma music it doesn’t get more Oklahoma than “Okie From Muskogee.”
My favorite songs by the icon Alan Jackson are Remember When, Livin’ on Love, Where Were You, Small Town Southern Man, I’ll Try, Here in the Real World, Drive, She’s Got the Rhythm, The Older I Get, and Monday Morning Church.
The fact that you two are willing to at least listen to music that is not necessarily popular to you, is what keeps your channel genuine in its' purpose! This is coming from a black man who just happens to have very eclectic tastes in music! Appreciate you both! Keep it up!
I keep coming back to this reaction, waiting on more Alan Jackson reactions from you guys. Alan still remains my #1 favorite country artist for his versatility and variety during his entire career.
Electric guitar has been part of country music for as long as I remember. About 20 or so years ago, artist started a trend of "de-electrifying" their music. Clint Black is one. On his he did a duet with his wife, When I Said I Do that is among my absolute favorite songs of all time. You should check it out.
Alot of what you are hearing is slide guitar as well. Alan Jackson is a living country legend. He has SO MANY hits...keep listening to him and you'll fall in love :)
He wrote and performed the most patriotic song of the century. "Where were you when the world stopped turning", which he wrote the week after 9/11. you have to cover it.
I adore Alan Jackson! "Remember When" is probably my favorite, makes me tear up every time! "The Older I Get", "LIttle Bitty", and "Living on Love" are some more good ones by him.
Mercury Blues is a great song to react to! Some other favorites are Gone Country, Chasin' That Neon Rainbow, Murder on Music Row (duet with George Strait). He's great live!
"Okie From Muskogee" by Merle Haggard is a must for you Okies! Also, it's a pedal steel guitar. It looks like a table and there are pedals on the floor which is different from the lap steel. A quintessential sound in classic country.
I loved Ambers face when he said George Jones. She was like George Jones and her facial expression was like, who’s that. George Jones was very well known and famous in the country music industry. At one time he was known as, no show George because he didn’t show up for a few of his events He actually made a cameo in this video.
George had a life long battle with alcoholism. Thus the no show george nickname. By this point in his career, he was able to laugh at his previous struggles and did so via cameo's in others videos.
George Strait is the King of Country. Alan Jackson is the King in waiting. Alan Jackson is also a prolific song. You can't go wrong with Alan Jackson or George Strait
George Strait stands on the shoulders of country legends like Hank Williams Sr., Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, George Jones, and many others. He is king of nothing.
Love Alan Jackson! The 90's country was great! Alan can write and sing, but Travis Tritt knows. 😉 Another Oklahoma boy that had hits in the 90's, and you might like, Wade Hayes. His song, Old Enough to Know Better is very catchy.
One of the best concerts I ever went to was Travis Tritt. I’ve been to many, many concerts, but when he just sits on the stage with his guitar, it is truly amazing. He still tours.
Alan Jackson is the goat. Hands down. Please dive into his catalog! He has fun up best songs and beautiful slow meaningful songs. He writes almost all his songs. Sooo many number ones! Good ole Georgia boy.
Also more great country from this era: Vince Gill- One more last chance and Toby Keith- How do you like me now. Do them with the original videos (both videos very funny)
Alan Jackson is probably the best country singer ever because he writes his own songs. Remember When and Drive are my favorite songs of his but everything that he sings is golden.
Alan Jackson just revealed that he's been diagnosed with Charcot Marie Tooth disease... a peripheral neuropathy that also runs in my family and something I've dealt with all my life. The fact that he keeps making music and performing is awesome. Hope he keeps turning out the music for a long-long time.
Living on love, daddy let me drive, small town southern man are all great Alan Jackson songs. But, we're here for a good time set a world record for the world's longest line dance.
If you guys continue to do more country reactions, you need to go through many of George Strait’s songs he is the king of country and most of his hits were in the 80s as well as 90s. Songs like The Chair, Amarillo By Morning, You Look So Good in Love, Ocean Front Property, Love Without End Amen, I Cross My Heart, Fool Hearted Memory, All My Ex’s Live in Texas, Check Yes or No… He has over 50 number 1 hits!
There was an 'Easter Egg' y'all missed-- at @ 7:00, there's a white-haired gentleman who gets up from the bar table & props up on the jukebox... **THAT** was George "No-Show" Jones himself!! (Alan sings about wanting to hear some 'George Jones'....) -- This song came out in 1991, and we lost ol' George in 2013..... Keep "Goin' Up The Country" [like you did a month ago with Canned Heat!] and exploring the 'grass roots' side of thangs!! Blessed Be, & Peace!!
When I think of country music, aside from fantastic tunes there's one lyric that always comes to mind: "There's a tear in mah beer 'cause I'm cryin' for you dear... *You* are on my lonely mind". That has to be the absolute pinnacle of a country music song all in one sentence. *A guy, a drink and a little time to think.*
Definitely have to react to Alan Jackson's "She's Got The Rhythm, I've Got The Blues" next. Also, "Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy" by Big & Rich would definitely get a big reaction from both of you.
That was a steel guitar. It originated in Hawaiian music but became a staple of Country music early on. It isn't heard much in modern country which is really quite a shame as it has a very distinctive sound.
Yay! My favorite ❤️ Y’all should get into a lot more of his songs. There’s so many! You really can’t go wrong with an AJ song. He’s an awesome storyteller. “Chattahoochee” is good and more upbeat. But his slower songs are awesome too. Try “Remember When.”
Oh you are Okies! You definitely need more country in your life. My recommendations will all pretty much be from the 80s and 90s, not much of a fan of country after 2000. But I been listening to country since the 70s so I can keep sending you country gem after country gem. Another Alan Jackson toon that is upbeat and makes you want to start dancing is "Chattahoochee". It will get your feet tapping.
Love Alan great singer and more important a great person
Drive (For Daddy Gene), Chattahoochee, Midnight in Montgomery, Chasin’ that Neon Rainbow, Mercury Blues, I could go on forever. Many of his are songs are based on his own life experiences. I love, love, love Alan Jackson!
How about Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning?
Alan Jackson has a big catalog of hits...
One of my favorites of his is Drive....put it on whenever I'm missing my Dad
Alan Jackson is one of the greatest country singers of all time. Decades if top ten hits!! You should do his song "Remember when". Or "Where we're you when the world stopped turning". 🤠
Both stellar choices!
Also a pedel seal guitar
“Like red on a rose” is another great one!
To an old irish dude like me Alan Jackson is the heart of Country music.. Love all his work for certain.
Excellent choices !!!
Alan Jackson is a great storyteller in his own right. Ya'll definatley need to listen to Where were you when the world stopped turning.
Love you guys and this song is a must listen to. One of the greatest songs of all time especially if you lived through it
Great Reaction. Alan Jackson "Midnight in Montgomery" is a must.
it's an absolute must!
Alan Jackson living on love and remember when... fantastic songs 🎵👌
The steel guitar is used in all sorts of music but its distinctive sound makes me immediately think of country or Hawaiian music.
Now you know Alan jackson, love u all reactions , he has many many great songs
You WANT country??? Try the 80's band Alabama. They're still together, occasionally record, and they still tour!!! "Love in the First Degree", "The Closer You Get", "Mountain Music", "Feels so Right", "Dixieland Delight", "Feels so Right", and "Old Flame", just to name a few. I just got to see Alabama, in Cedar Park, minus Jeff Cook, who is in the hospital, not doing to well (and of course Mark Herndon, unfortunately).
Grew up on listening to Alabama. Great band!
Absofrigginlutely!
GEORGE JONES leaning on the lukebox at the end, priceless.
"Remember When" was played at my fathers funeral, great song and yes I can't hear it without tearing up.
Remember When and Country Roads were booth played at my father's funeral. I hear either of them and the tears flow. #blubberingidiot

Suggestions for Alan Jackson: literally any song from his catalog. He's one of the best. You can't go wrong with any Alan Jackson song.
If you haven’t done it before you guys need to go boot scootin. So much fun. At any rate Alan Jackson is one of the greatest country artists of all time. He’s one of my personal favorites. So glad you guys found him.

Yes for George and Brooks and Dunn.

Alan Jackson ….. one of the all time country greats. I like every one of his songs.
" Remember When " is a beautiful song and his wife is in the video. It's a Steel Guitar.
I loved the George Jones cameo at the end of the video. What a legend!

Keep it up!
@S Ragsdale I like that answer! May I use it?
I keep coming back to this reaction, waiting on more Alan Jackson reactions from you guys. Alan still remains my #1 favorite country artist for his versatility and variety during his entire career.
Oh boy now you've done it! Okay then, you MUST listen to Chatahoochee.
From one Okie to another! Excellent song today! Glad you realized that was a steel guitar! Lol Alan Jackson is one of the best!
Electric guitar has been part of country music for as long as I remember. About 20 or so years ago, artist started a trend of "de-electrifying" their music. Clint Black is one. On his he did a duet with his wife, When I Said I Do that is among my absolute favorite songs of all time. You should check it out.
Patricia, When I Said I Do is one of my all time favorites as well
The Fender Telecaster was considered a country music instrument for many years.
Alot of what you are hearing is slide guitar as well. Alan Jackson is a living country legend. He has SO MANY hits...keep listening to him and you'll fall in love :)
Alan Jackson is quintessential country.
Country music gives you ALL instruments!!
He wrote and performed the most patriotic song of the century. "Where were you when the world stopped turning", which he wrote the week after 9/11. you have to cover it.
Y’all will LOVE Alan Jackson - Remember When. Great reaction!!
I adore Alan Jackson! "Remember When" is probably my favorite, makes me tear up every time! "The Older I Get", "LIttle Bitty", and "Living on Love" are some more good ones by him.
He has a really good song about his growing up and his three daughters. Very sweet and fun it is called "Drive"
Mercury Blues is a great song to react to! Some other favorites are Gone Country, Chasin' That Neon Rainbow, Murder on Music Row (duet with George Strait). He's great live!
Alan has 2 Christmas songs that are outstanding; "Let it Be Christmas", and "The Angels Cried" with Alison Krauss...
THE Alison Krauss from albums Raising Sand and Raise The Roof with THE Robert Plant! 🤠
"Okie From Muskogee" by Merle Haggard is a must for you Okies!
Also, it's a pedal steel guitar. It looks like a table and there are pedals on the floor which is different from the lap steel. A quintessential sound in classic country.
I love your reaction! Alan is amazing. So is George Jones! Hope you continue to listen to more country.
I loved Ambers face when he said George Jones. She was like George Jones and her facial expression was like, who’s that. George Jones was very well known and famous in the country music industry. At one time he was known as, no show George because he didn’t show up for a few of his events He actually made a cameo in this video.
Very well-known is quite an understatement. George Jones is/ was an icon. He was the country singer’s country singer.
George had a life long battle with alcoholism. Thus the no show george nickname. By this point in his career, he was able to laugh at his previous struggles and did so via cameo's in others videos.
Monster hit!!
“Wanted” and “Remember When” are two great ones!! One of his first and one of his latest hits. ❤️
Allen is very underappreciated. Peace, Love!
I acknowledge all of the Legends of Country music. George Strait has 60 number ones. So I humbley disagree with you
You all need to listen to Alan sing Where Where You When The World Stopped Turning
If anybody is the king of country, it's Hank Sr or George Jones.
I would love to hear more reactions to Alan Jackson songs. 🎉❤Suggestion: Good Time
Love Alan Jackson! The 90's country was great! Alan can write and sing, but Travis Tritt knows. 😉 Another Oklahoma boy that had hits in the 90's, and you might like, Wade Hayes. His song, Old Enough to Know Better is very catchy.
George Jones & Tammy Wynette, The President & First Lady of Country Music.
There’s a wonderful documentary about his life!
Alan Jackson has so many hits! Y’all would like “Drive”
Now that’s the country you guys need to listen too….country music from the 50’s thru the 90’s
Great star and good man. Everything he sings is good.
There's something about Alan Jackson, he can sing anything for me.
One of the best country performers, ever.
Not too bad to look at either. Lol
One of the GREAT sax solos in a rock song: Billy Joel’s JUST THE WAY YOU ARE. It’ll blow you away.
'Monday Morning Church' is another Alan Jackson song that's worth a listen. It was written by a great songwriter (and singer) Erin Enderlin.
We did a lot of line dancing 🕺 to Alan Jackson. I loved those days ,
When I think of country music, aside from fantastic tunes there's one lyric that always comes to mind: "There's a tear in mah beer 'cause I'm cryin' for you dear... *You* are on my lonely mind". That has to be the absolute pinnacle of a country music song all in one sentence. *A guy, a drink and a little time to think.*
Recorded by country legend Hank Williams and then re-recodred by his son, Hank Williams, Jr.
Alan Jackson was a nod to old country when he came out. You would love Living On Love. It will get you in the feels.
Love the sound of the Steel guitar , can't tell from the video if using a slide to play it or if it's all pick work
There’s always a slide. Slide in one hand, pick with the other
Alan Jackson and Toby Keith both have some great songs, you both would enjoy. Funny and love ballads as well as patriotic!
Definitely have to react to Alan Jackson's "She's Got The Rhythm, I've Got The Blues" next. Also, "Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy" by Big & Rich would definitely get a big reaction from both of you.
I love you guys! We grew up with 80s and 90s country. This is one of our favorite artist and style of country.
That was a steel guitar. It originated in Hawaiian music but became a staple of Country music early on. It isn't heard much in modern country which is really quite a shame as it has a very distinctive sound.
That...was steel guitar!!!! Great tune yall. Love Alan Jackson
