Thank you very much. I've been having an extremely difficult time trying to decide on which battery powered DA I should go with. I was stuck between the Ryobi and the Kobalt. I was planning on going with the Ryobi as first choice and your review confirmed my choice. I did watch both of your reviews on these tools and were by far the best on this platform. Thanks again, happy detailing.
First let me say you have become my favorite auto detailer/ reviewer channel. However please note there is a substantial difference between "tactical" and "tactile". At this point you have been saying tactical for so long I'm guessing it will be hard to change, but just fyi going forward.
Am i really? In my head Tactile is what im saying when talking about feeling of the switching, plastics, etc... Im naturally a bit of a mumbler so it probably does sound like tactical... I appreciate the feedback. I think i also say "alrighty guys" way too much as well... But im working on it
Yep. Just got the polisher free when I put the batteries in my cart! So it's a really good deal if you weren't planning on getting it free! I am a weekend warrior so it will be fine for what I would use it for.
I got this polisher for free with the 4 piece set for 149.99 crazy good price. I love it for working on my personal car (a fortwo). Highly recommend for free
I read his post and went online and got the same deal, 2 batteries, charger and polisher for $161 out the door but they won’t ship it, you have to go pick it up.
I just went to order this polisher from Lowes. I put a charger with 2 batteries in my cart and it said "Choose your free gift". This polisher along with other Kobalt tools was in the list! I got it for free! So if anyone is looking for this or any 24v tools this is the time.
I got the harbor freight Bauer long throw 6 inch one. Going to give it a try. I only plan on using it once or twice a year so this should do me just fine.
Yea that should do the job perfectly for you. I haven’t used one but I heard changing out the grease makes it run really smooth. There should be a few videos on that if you just search it on TH-cam
I'm betting that Kobalt was bought and returned, then put back on the shelf without being checked. Whoever bought and returned, "forgot" to put the pads back in the package. Wondering if they also knocked it around, thus the rattle.
Can I switch the backing plate? I just got one and want a 5in backing plate but I hear there's a counter balance in them to work with the original backing plate. Please let me know
Let us know if Kobalt improves this polisher to better suit the professional detailer. I have the Kobalt batteries and charger already and would love to be able to use it professionally
@@imjoshv Fantastic! I'm curious to see how it compares to the DeWalt... I use the DeWalt currently, fantastic machine, but a bit on the heavy side... So I'm really thinking about ordering the SPTA as well 🤔
Great review, lots of details. Thanks! I saw one other review saying the Kobalt had the least vibration, which is definitely a feature that I like. But, I am going to be doing a lot of heavy duty correction. My 2008 Honda Element has a lot of scratches. And my 1995 RV has even more scratches. Need to do some fiberglass patching first… What I’m wondering is, can I use a random orbital sander for correction? And then use the Kobalt for later steps like polishing? I’m entirely an amateur here, and I know nothing at all about this. But I have three cars and a 35’ long RV to maintain, and a am fairly vibration sensitive. I expect to not do it all at once - battery life doesn’t really worry me. I will be taking breaks. Don’t expect to do an entire RV in a day :)
Not close to the Dewalt!!! Great review I am a Dewalt guy and had the batteries so made it a easy choice. Nice you are giving all the unbiased opinions on them all!
Yea for me the dewalt is on a different level compared to the ryobi and kobalt. But those can have their place especially for people with this batteries. The dewalt is my go to now!!
@@imjoshv How about a test with the new Dewalt Powerstack batteries on the Dewalt polisher. They are really light with twice the power output! Great for the polisher to reduce weigh and increase run time! I picked up two in a kit with a drill and impact cheap at Home Depot have to do it in store!
Hi josh I have the wax shine 8 mm I have been looking at the 15 and 21 mm polishers seeing that I’m a dewalt guy it’s over 300 in Canada on Amazon I’ve put it on my wish list lol
I work at Lowe's and I won't buy one. All of my hand tools are DeWalt so I already have several batteries and 4 chargers. Good review on not what to buy
I’m a dewalt guy too!! This seems good enough for waxing for the diyer that already uses kobalt. The dewalt dual action that I reviewed previously has become my go to polisher now
Yeah I'd be curious to see how the makita compares to the dewalt. I wish the Makita could be had for less though. It's currently $420 for just the tool which is a little too steep for me.
@@Smurph34-34 Indeed, it is a bit pricey but it’s a beast and worth every Penny. Also little secret, Makita 18V batteries also work with the SPTA Polishers too. Makita also makes a sweet 18V Mini Blower that puts out a ton of power. Check out the New Makita Headlight Polisher, mine is all black. Milwaukee makes one too but it’s part of their M12 platform. Ryobi just came out with one too. Giving you solid info, aka LEADS for VIDS….hint hint……Go get’em tiger……Great Content. Keep up the great work.
If you have kobalt batteries and just need it to wax and light polish it gets it done… but for an extra hundred the dewalt is a serious polisher that o find myself using more than anything now!!

*Good **MyBest.Tools** power and rpm control.*
I got that polisher today with the same four amp hour battery kit for 150 great review
Thanks for the review, I have the battery and other tools from Kobalt. It's not a bad tool for the price and just light duty diy tasks.
I might get one of these. I have a bunch of other kobalt 24v stuff already.

This polisher is on sale today as a free tool when you buy the 2 battery/charger combo. Picked it up for less than $150 OTD.

AVOID!

Yeah boi!!! I've been waiting for this review and vidya!
👍👍
Could you please tell me the duration of a full battery charge for the polisher?
Dang man! Even Kobalt! Come on Milwaukee!!!
Haha
I feel your pain. I might just end up buying the Dewalt.
Hey! Timely reply. I’m sure you’ve seen that Milwaukee has a 15 abs 21mm random now
Great review... variable speed trigger is always good.
Hi Josh - Chris Metcalf turned me onto your channel. Nice work really like the video.
The part you called a rubberized pad is called the tool rest 👌
I'm betting that Kobalt was bought and returned, then put back on the shelf without being checked. Whoever bought and returned, "forgot" to put the pads back in the package. Wondering if they also knocked it around, thus the rattle.
The kobalt has a brushless motor, the rattle is the rotor trying to match up the the magnets in the stator.
Thanks for the video. Almost bought it without researching(Kobalt). I’ll save another week or two and get the DeWalt. DIYer for 2 cars and a boat. 😅
This is $99 right now with a charger 4amp and 2amp battery. Worth it to prep brand new cars for ceramic?
Is polisher stronger enough to restore headlights?
I don't know how many times I'm going to use it on my car. I plan on doing a correction and a ceramic coating. How often should I polish?
Do you think using any of the 3 kobalt pads with wax would end up removing some clear coat?
Great job on the review
👍👍
are there any good pads for the stock backing plate?
Urofiber 50/50 is one of the best if you want to correct and polish with one pad.
Can I switch the backing plate? I just got one and want a 5in backing plate but I hear there's a counter balance in them to work with the original backing plate. Please let me know
Nice review.
Thanks
My pleasure

what do think about the maxshine M8S?
Thank you so much for this video سپاسگزارم
Nice review 👌!
Thanks👍
Got this 2 batteries and charger for 200$ at Lowe’s. Pretty insane prices.
You need to take it back to Lowe"s I just bought the same one and it comes with three pads
As a DIYer I would spend the extra money and go DEWALT, thanks Josh 👍😁
Yea the Dewalt is the best battery powered polisher iuve tested by far at this point. Im using mine every day!
You should test out the new SPTA cordless polisher next...
Its ordered and on its way!

makita for heavy duty
You will need a rotary buffer for the gel coat on the RV. DA won’t do anything to it

Dewalt is the absolute best option out there hands down along with Flex brand thats made in Germany
I would like tonsee a review of the new milwaukee one

The maxshine m15pro is one of my favorites as well! But the Dewalt is awesome an battery powered!!
Right now at Lowes this Kobalt polisher is $99 until May 1st.
That's part of the brushless system according to kobalt
How come you don't have a makita
No Makita?
I can't find the dewalt any where for less than $300 new
That "shake" is the brushless motor.
Are you sure the Kobalt is a DA polisher?
Where would I buy bulk item and chemicals?
I can tell you what's up with that.
They are dry gear system

DeWalt trash 🗑️😂 they make a few good tools that's about it
THe Ryobi is 109, not 199 - tool only
Oh you're funny it's a brushless motor what's that jiggle at the end oh crack me up
They gave me 3 pads
Makita All the Way. Cordless. The best. It has the switch trigger for Dual action and forced rotation.
