I just found you, and I immediately subbed because of the sheer genuine personality you have, BUT i would like to ask a question. Dunkey's way of doing the clips seems simply too messy with dozens of clips. Have you thought about doing it so that you only talk when there's something going on that's interesting, and then using an AI Silence remover like TimeBolt in order to just automatically remove your silences before putting that into Adobe Premiere Pro/Sony Vegas? The clps are considered CUT, so if you wanted footage from right before or after you talked, you just have to drag that clip out to reveal the cut footage again you want ot use. I've thought about doing it Dunkey's way, but like I said, it just feels like such a messy way of doing it.
I love the difference the video has because it feels more like a case study with us along for the ride instead of a lecture or presentation. We are in there fr
I think this is a really important video. I want to say thank you for the time and effort you put into your craft, although I suffer from the affliction of getting overwhelmed by my systems, it really gave me a boost to hear all the steps laid out. I am truly grateful.
I've only watched about 1 minute and 40 seconds and have already ended up on a 2 hour StreamScheme rabbit hole. Really looking forward to the rest of the the video and the resources/tools mentioned. Always bringing up great stuff!
Honestly I really liked the intro, feels like a direction that I recently been shifting too, setting the mood, and the tone, with context to draw someone in and bring them into an idea that we as creators want to share with the viewers!! Really good job! And some major points in this video that I really enjoyed!! Keep it up!
Thank you so much for doing these videos. I remember hearing in another video that these aren't as successful as your other content, but I look forward to watching them and actually getting long-term education in more than just streaming/content in general. Thank you again for helping me grow as a person, and I hope you're doing well!
This was INCREDIBLY useful! My goal for this summer is improving on all of the different aspects of content creation and this was a great beginning. You gave me tons of ideas and ispiration. Thank you Eljay
This video is amazing it really sheds the light on being a creator! I’ve been trying to figure out a balance between 40 hr a week plus stream and I couldn’t find anything that is this helpful! Thank you!
Bro, this is exactly the kind of video I needed to see. I just recently started working for myself and have been having a terrible time staying focused and figuring out how to even do this content creation stuff. I got SO many ideas from this, it's unreal! I've been a big fan of your videos ever since I started streaming, but this one is probably the most useful one I've watched so far. Thank you so much for this!
This is one of my favourite videos of yours as of lately! I feel like I'll be revisiting this one a couple times to see what I can learn from each day properly!
I think you'll be saying the next eljay video is your favourite when you see I named one of my main Pokemon after you lmao But seriously, I appreciate the kind words so much dude, hope you're well Dezz
This video is simply amazing and extremely helpful. I sincerely thank you for uploading this, I had been stuck in a "perfectionist" mindset which in turn made me do no work at all, this video showed me how to stop that and get to work on uploading content. I appreciate this video a lot.
Liked that intro a lot, and the process you went through to improve and get it done. a lot of the organization tips and other things here I need to work on as well especially planning and editing the thumbnail first. always a pleasure watching your videos. setting up those folders definitely helps. I edit for another channel and deal with vods several hours long.
As a boomer trying to learn OBS, I am simultaneously (1.) depressed by seeing how much time and effort young men put into playing video games while the real world is burning -you’re collectively like Simba, still hanging out with Timon and Pumbaa; and (2.) delighted by your openness to share really valuable tips, like the split screen, and the daily Iphone improv monologue, and the button to start and stop recording so everything is pre-split into nice little clips. Really, really helpful. Thank you.
I use Toggl Track and a white board to plan my content creation. So if there's one big take away from it all, get a whiteboard that you can always view in your room!!!
Great video, great ideas, cant wait to watch it again and take notes this time. Also, you're actually hilarious. Thanks for helping us be better creators.
Eljay, you are consistently one of the most motivating creators I watch in this space. I've been in a massive slump with productivity because of IRL obligations and while a lot of this is daunting its also really encouraging to see and hear your struggles and successes as well. Each day we just have to get a little better!
I have NEVER edited anything in my life and I am starting my journey of a content creator. And I didn't go to school for it. Looking forward to learning more from you
Big props Eljay, this video must have taken forever to make. These learnings are super helpful for so many of us. Thanks for the epic content as usual 🫡
Thanks for this video, totally awesome to get immersed in as theres context, not just a random list of tips that no one really remembers 😄. I've had an interest in this sorta stuff for a while but I get ADHD burnout - much like you did in this video - when I try to do this around a fulltime job, so its awesome not just to see that too, but how to get around it. Gonna save this one into my favourites to rewatch and use as motivation, thanks LJ!
Day 3 - part 24:30-25:00 - was the major point I guess, cause, even though the whole idea of 7through7 is great, it is to motivate someone to start doing something and improve on that "concept", there was another video where you stated that one should start with creating an idea of what the heck they wanna do with their content, and build on that, like "foundation", everything else goes along. kitchen here, bathroom there.. I did not realize that I skipped most of the steps, because, I am somehow instinctively already doing what I wanted/want, but, my flaw was/is small aesthetics like the ones that you used 2 hours on.... small stuff.... cosmetics is not my niche, which I will also have to use a lot of time working on imagination. Full circle, that might not be the case with someone else. I think that by mastering a skill over one self time organization is by taking a better look at what 10-20 other people do to organize themselves and create a similar template on which they will upgrade in time. The core is determination and discipline. "Think simple, but think long game", this works for me. Thanks for the video, I did enjoy.
Great video Eljay! Question for you I do enjoy doing the public speaking for 10 mins! I've really like how I sound on camera so thank you for that! I guess the thing I'm struggling with is believing what I have to say is valuable/ helpful/ entertaining!
I think that’s still helped with the exercise! Since you see it and watch it back, and continue to adapt. It builds confidence because you can watch how not engaging you were and how far you’ve come, and confidence helps make what you’re saying feel more valuable.
You didn't fail by not moving locations. That is... silly. And I learned a lot from your video. I created the morning dump, a brain storm template in notion. And learned a lot just by watching you edit your video. Nice work man. Have a great day.
i think that adding tasks to your morning dump kills the idea of the dump. of course its different for everyone but for me the concept is not to start focusing and figuring out what to do, but to get rid of all the extra stuff running around in my brain bucket. adding goals and tasks to the morning dump would be counter productive to me, and I beleive thats why its taking you an hour. try just 5 -10 minutes of "stream of conciousness" just write randomly whats there to let it out and then your brain can focus.
Dude, respect for doing such deep research and going all out with this video. I'm really enjoying your content as it relates to growing a twitch stream and creating better content. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
I was listening/watching this video while cooking dinner and my husband comes I and says “is this guy really saying Morning Dump?” because that’s what he calls his poop in the morning. I couldn’t help but laugh every time you said it. Aside from that, I appreciate the video and have been following advice for awhile now. I’ve created a small channel on twitch and finally got up past 11-12 people average. The growth is happening ✌️ I love the videos thank you!
I am aware this has been covered before elsewhere, but how do the preparation/productivity/off-camera parts apply to livestreaming? Another way of putting it is could you please touch on how you approach your actions/planning in advance and any "ritual" in the same-day-as-stream lead up to a stream session. Also what do you do after a stream ends to connect that one to the next session's plan? How do you adapt a plan if the preceding session didn't go the way you hoped? I find a lot of similar vids only talk about creating videos, as though live doesn't exist in the realm of content creation.
Very insightful and helpful vid, I'm new to the streaming, record and editing my video, i wll try to implement step by step so that i can improve especially at public speaking 😂😂... thanks for video 👍😁
when you talk about morning dumps, I wish you spoke on the difference between night owls and early birds! I work evenings, and while I have the option on my personal time to go to bed around 1AM and wake *fairly* early (10am-ish) I also frequently choose to stay up until 4-7am and sleep until it's time to go to work the following evening. I am unsure about whether not I want to lean into this habit, or commit to early rising and staying awake for 14-16 hours with no naps, which is easier to do when I sleep until 4pm, go to work for 8 hours, and then stay up 6-8 hours after working. I just feel like waking up early in the morning and staying awake until 1or 2am is TOUGHHHH. what do you think? I am also a streamer and content creator.
I feel like I talked a lot about how it just didn’t quite work for me, like in detail and how I felt it’s better to found my own route and stick to that rather than pressure myself to fit another persons
How would you go about saving time when editing VODs? Most of my footage is VODs that I record while streaming and it takes a lot of time for me to comb through footage to find the best bits.
A really good software for public speaking is this VR game which has audience leave if you use fillers like "Um and And" or if you take too long of pauses, also if you are hard to understand. The university I went to had it and I downloaded it on my computer, it is very useful if you have a VR Headset.
To master something is to be able to use it effectively, consistently, yourself and to be able to teach the skill, to master level, to another. So far I think you are good.
I've done this both when I had 3 jobs and worked 7 days, and now when I am full-time content. It's.... not easy hahaha at all, its brutal, but a bigger creator told me early on, "Content creation doesn't care about what you have going on, It just cares about good content"

Explained in another video on OBS :) But I add audio sources to individual tracks inside OBS, so for example I'll send the USB mic to just 2, and the Game Capture source to just 3, etc. Any guide on OBS recording for Audio should cover this as long as it isn't a beginner focused video or site :)

Sadly its the same for everyone. I worked 3 jobs when I started, and did all of this at night. At the end of the day, platforms and audiences don't care about our personal hurdles.
These are some great ideas and tips for beginners and pros alike. Thanks for the help. I am still struggling to reach just 1k Subs on my channel. I am sure these tips will really help me up my game.
A bit of a different video today, but I hope seeing my actively doing the skills I often teach was powerful? Helpful? Subscribe if you enjoyed :)
Love this! But am I blind or is the Notion template link missing?
Nevermind...I see it in Discord lol

why not combine the 10 minutes of public speaking with the morning dump by doing 10 minutes recording yourself doing a morning dump orally (that's a horrible sentence to type!)? Maybe add a few minutes of prep to collect your thoughts so you have a rough idea of the ground you want to cover so that you can fit it into a relatively brief recording?
