      @streamscheme you did great man. Note going to lie I was waiting for the “if you want to sound good you need xyz things” and the fact that you didn’t do that and also time stamped the video for people (I watched it all twice haha) is great. I’m surprised you didn’t mention using the compressor for audio ducking. I use this so that my voice and and game audio/background music come out to the same level, but when I speak the game audio/background music lowers automatically. Been working very well. I also used some EQ and compressor filtering on my iPhone earbuds mic to make it sound almost as good as a decent condenser mic. That’s next on the list to buy, but it has me sounding so much better in the mean time.

    • @StreamScheme
      @StreamScheme  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Great advice, honestly I tried to keep it incredibly simple. Basic audio and a few filters that help deal with the major issues I see people having.

    Just came across this via your streaming mistakes vid, and though I haven't started streaming yet, I've at least got my mic set up a bit better now. Though I guess if I ever start streaming, I'll have to learn to speak up as I max out the OBS volume, win10 mic volume at 80%, and I'm still not even hitting yellow unless I'm unusually loud. Still, the noise gate is good for mostly getting rid of mouse and mechanical keyboard clicks.

    • @StreamScheme
      @StreamScheme  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s very odd that it isn’t picking up your voice much, there might be a switch on your mic to up the volume or potentially the monitoring back is lowered so it’s loud but you are hearing it quieter than it would broadcast!
      Good luck! Hope the videos help! :)

    Wouldn't a Compressor be better than a Limiter?
    A compressor basically makes voice volume be more consistent. It effectively squishes your volume so that the loud parts are quieter and the quiet parts are louder.
    A nice ratio for the compressor is 4-to-1. With this, I can whisper during my livestreams and people still hear me clearly while not getting their eardrums shattered when I start raging.

    • @StreamScheme
      @StreamScheme  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Absolutely :)
      That said, this video is aimed at absolute beginners and people just starting out. You'd be surprised how many people can even make mistakes when setting up noise gates or noise suppression because they fiddle with so many settings, then just get lost.
      I weighed up which was easier for someone to learn, and went with a limiter to start people off.

      Make sure the window is big enough for them to even appear, but if there are none it most likely means you don't have the correct microphone source selected. :)

    I want to start streaming ASAP. Good sound is so important as you know; crappy sound is like fingernails on a blackboard. I've got some questions, though. In ca 1985, Carver came out with his audio holograph generator that works with ordinary stereo and mono in a top end mixer/preamp. I understand the hologram theory, but it somehow gives it a powerful but difficult to describe 3-D "presence", even in mono that's truly mind-blowing. There seems to be something exotic and not used in the human audio cortex that's beyond what stereo can do.
    Is there software that can produce an audio hologram? And what do you recommend for 'voice changing' software?

My Mic is great I have all the settings and filters working (I can watch TH-cam through my speakers and it not come through the stream) but when we play Phasmopobia for example with an in game chat system we will pick up each other talking causing echoing.
