My tip on eating pho is to eat it as is or add very little condiments. Then half way through the bowl, add everything you want. 2 different experiences. It’s great.
YOU CRAZY OR MUST BE FROM NORTH! hahahaha! The best thing about Pho is stay Open Minded! Put whatever u like to make your bowl for you! is your bowl not others. So dont give nonsense tips LOL! 4-5 herbs, lemon/lime, beensprout, sate, hoisin, siriacha ALL DAY!!!! FLAVOUR BOMB!
@@welovedji1116 I think you need to learn how to read again. Because your reading comprehension is lacking. Thanks for your video ♥️
Your take on the herb and vegetable on the side, while I do agree with your point as a chef, I also believe Ba Huynh's reasoning is also valid. The two are not mutually exclusive. As a consumer, I do like the freedom to pick and choose which herb/veg I would like to eat, although I would put everything in anyway. Vegetable on the side is also great for when I can't really eat the entire loaf at once, and have to reheat it later. I like my herb/veg fresh and crunchy instead of warm and soggy from being inside the loaf. Love Banh mi Ba Huynh (Madam Win). It's close to my university (of Pedagogy, District 5) so I can buy one Special loaf for breakfast AND lunch since it's so massive, and I'm not a big eater. If you like a lot of rich, fatty butter, you might like Banh Mi Huynh Hoa more, but Ba Huynh to me is more meaty and fragrant. If I don't eat the other half of the loaf, I would take it home and air fry it, amazing.
I live in the north and love the food here, but bánh xèo is one of the foods you simply have to have down south. Now I know where to go next time I'm in Saigon, thanks to you and your boy.
As a Vietnamese, I promise that the first shop is too overrated and there are still more better places 😢. Anh em sài gòn vào giới thiệu cho chú mấy quán bánh xèo đỉnh hơn điiii chứ tui thấy quán đầu tiên vừa ko ngon mà vừa đắt nữaaaaa
Tui thấy bánh xèo đa phần chỗ nào cũng giống nhau, ăn đều ổn cả. Nên né mấy chỗ hên nổi trên TV, bẫy du lịch như chỗ này là được, đơn giản là do đông tăng giá chứ đâu có gì đặc biệt
Having lived in HCMC and going there every year I’ve visited most of the places featured in this video and they are all pretty good. Id like to add that Pho Bo Phu Gia on 146e Lý Chính Thắng has a very good bowl of northern style Pho if you prefer that over the southern style like I do.
If you buy a ton or you don’t intend to eat them right away, you don’t have to disassemble and reassemble the banh mi if you gotta toaster oven them. It comes with gloves too? Hella thoughtful. I like it!
I'm from Southern California where there are plenty of banh mi places, and I have to say banh mi Ba Huynh was my favorite in Vietnam when I went there last year! FYI they let us sit at their cafe on the left at the location you visited.
vegetable on the side is quite understandable tbh. Shipping, the fact that vegetable can get stale and moist easily and also their customers which are mainly foreigners who don't usually have a tastebud for fresh herbs.
Banh Mi Huynh Hoa definitely has seating and it's indoors! These types of banh mi are good but too much and too rich. We enjoyed another location that was a 5-minute walk from Huynh Hoa called Banh Mi Hong Hoa. Great thit nuong and heo quay banh mi.

Me and my wife rly rly rly consider Vietnam with 3 kids aged 2,5 and 7! both me and my wife got dobbel citizenship, Viet Kieu living in Norway now. Yes we still love Vietnam. Before we came back I was not so sure but when we got here and we loved it. Of course, it was hard from the beginning bc of the difference of the weather and the climate for our kids, but after couple months all of them adjusted so well without any problems. We love visiting America for sometime but right now we choose Viet Nam for living 😊 If you’re dual citizenship that’s even easier and better for you. Hope my answer helps 😊
The reason they keep the veggies seperate is for better transport and banh mi integrity. Many in the US always opt for veggies seperate when they purchase to-go to eat at home or for later.

Any white dude from Philly who speaks fluent Vietnamese has my respect 👊 Have lived in Saigon a year now and already have my fave southern pho spot which is in D3. Look forward to putting Pho Le to the test. Thanks for your tips!
I tried Bánh Xèo 46A once but that was enough for me. I prefer the thinner version which is more affordable, easier to wrap and crispier with the ingredients being the star of the show. Anyways I can't wait to be in Hanoi in two week's time and will keep a look out for you on the streets.. lol!
Will have to try pho vietnam when Kelly and I are back there in February. While we were there in august we got hooked on the bo-ne place around the corner from our hotel (happy life grand hotel) and the pho thin restaurant next door to the hotel.
I prefer hue central style banh xeo. More manageable to eat and better aesthetics. I also prefer the cambodian take on the vietnamese original banh xeo called "ban chev". Its not made to be crispy like the vietnamese version except the edges are crispy. The fillings are usually made with ground chicken cooked with onions and bean sprouts. They never use pork and shrimp. Aside from that, the veggies and herbs are identical.
The trick of rolling is not to overstuff it Just pick all your ingredients and then put it tight together. It will taste better than put from everything too much in your roll. Try it out
