LYRICS:
I can hear my train comin'
It's a lonesome and distant cry
I can hear my train comin'
Now I'm runnin' for my life
What makes a man walk away from his mind?
I think I know
I think I might know
I can feel the wind blowin'
It's sending shivers down my spine
I can feel the wind blowin'
It shakes the trees and the power lines
What makes a man spend his whole life in disguise?
I think I know
I think I might know
I think I might know
I think I might know, oh oh
I can see the sun settin'
It's casting shadows on the sea
I can see the sun, it's setting
It's getting colder, starting to freeze
What makes a man want to break a heart with ease?
I think I know
I think I might know
I think I might know
I think I might know, oh oh
Well I can hear my train comin'
Looks like time is not on my side
Well I can hear my train comin'
I'm still runnin' for my life
What makes a man pray, when he's about to die?
I think I know
I think I might know
I think I might know
I think I might know, oh oh, oh oh
I think I might know
I think I might know, woah oh - เพลง
perfect song for loners and introverts. This song really touches my heart
yes
On my own its a good tempo nice song to sing, but dang you play it with company and they think you're depressed
It's 2021, and the woman who introduced me to this song has been dead a few weeks shy of 7 years. I sobbed 40 seconds into the song the first time I heard it, and I still struggle to keep them back. She said this song made her think of me. I agreed with her, I still do. "What makes a man...?" I think I know, I think I might know. Years ago this song made her think of me, and now it makes me think of her.
Sorry for your loss!
That is as beautiful as it is tragic. I'm sorry to hear she passed away.
"What makes a man walk away from his mind?"
Anyone who has either gone through or is going through major depression has asked themselves that in some way, shape, or form, at some point.
yeah
i don't think i've ever heard one 'City and Colour' song that i didn't love.
Man the amount of soul Dallas packs into his songs, its just incredible
I saw Dallas in concert, and honestly he's the best performer I've ever seen. His recorded stuff is amazing, but you really get the full effect when he's right there in front of you. There was just this immense feeling of relaxation during and after the show. And he's a really funny, down to earth guy. I love him.
I worked with some idiot who said she'd been somewhere he was playing before he was famous and hated him because he 'thought too much of himself.. like, he was just SURE he would be famous." Well, YEAH. He SHOULD be famous. Damn underrated if you ask me.
My body shivers when i listen to that song. I don't know much about Dallas but he looks like the manifestation of a man who was beaten down over and over again but always stood up and found his key of life in the music that he sings..
Love them, reminds me of my husband that passed away a month or so ago😢😢😢😢he sang and played guitar for over 35 years, this song, he was amazing at performing
I hope you stay strong for him and your loved ones.. I'm sorry for your loss💙
Them?
I have just discovered this band....where was I all these years..
I can listen to this song over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over aaaaannnnnd over and over and over and over and over
Used to listen to this every winter morning, waiting for my bus to take me to school.
Haha same, literally, his music you can listen to at any given moment, whenever you're happy, or broken, at peace, etc.
glad to know I wasn't the only one...I had whatever album he did at the time on my old ass mp3 haha
I can hear my bus coming I'm still running for my life.
Not everyone will understand, but this song is spiritual on so many levels. Soul.
I cry whenever I hear this song. About 4 months ago, I lost my Fiance... She was my everything. We were together everyday. I got incarcerated for 6 months because I chose to live the gang life than to actually listen to her and start looking towards our future together. See, we were the sampe but different. We were the same in everyway emotionally and our interests. But I am in a gang in Chicago and she was from Wisconsin. She hated the lifestyle I was living. Well, during my incarceration(about a month and a half before I was to be released) I tried to call her, but no answer. I called my mom and got the news that she had passed away... I didn't know how to react. I got into a fight and caught another charge in the jail that day. Now that I am out, I still use her TH-cam account and I likke to listen to what she would always try to have me listen to but I wasn't really trying to before. I cry Everytime. I just wish I could have listened to her and just focused on our lives together. Now that she's gone, I know I should be trying to move on but I can't. And the only family I have anymore is the gang. I know that I'm going to end up dying soon anyways. And I think I am okay with that at this point. I want to see my love again. I didn't do drugs(except weed) before but now I'm taking percs and Xanax everyday in large amounts. I'm actually hoping one day I won't wake up again... She was my light in all this darkness
I can relate to your sorry. Lossing a loved one is so hard. Get some help and get out of the gang lifestyle. Talk to her often she hears u. Love never dies. Drugs are not the answer. Dont you love the life you kill? I hope you get better and follow your dreams .
Really late, but I hope you're doing better, that sounds absolutely brutal. They say life doesn't give you more than you can handle and I really believe that's true. Sending love your way
sorry man....\god Bless you
Hey man - I hope you're still reading this. I'm so sorry to hear about what happened with you and your ex. I can't imagine the pain you feel. Like one of the other commenters said, I think talking to her really can help in a lot of ways. There's a lot of evidence of life after death (NDE's are a massive source of empirical evidence), as well as of communication with those who have passed on. One major takeaway of NDE's is that those who come back don't want to die right away as they understand they have a purpose here - so they aren't scared of dying and look forward to that day, but they are also very excited about life while they're here and the purpose that they have. I believe that this is a revelation of our true state here on Earth, and that you have a purpose being here. She would want you to live your life. You will see her soon enough, but like Maximus' friend said in Gladiator, 'not yet'. She is with you if you call her to her in mind - this place that we exist in that is our Universe operates in a field of consciousness that we are all part of, including her - you only need to draw close to her within yourself. I hope you are finding some peace and comfort.
Hey man. If you really want to see her. Stay alive. It’ll all be worth it in the end. Just stay strong.
Thank god for musicians like this.
This song sends goosebumps and shivers. This is real music.
You can make a man cry Dallas. That's a talent
such a great song vocally, instrumentally, and lyrically. I will always be a fan of city and colour. his voice is just so amazing and the range he has its just like *mind blown* for the 30 people who disliked this video I don't know whats wrong with you this song shouldn't even have 1 dislike
you'd probably be into John Mayer, he always delivers musically. and his live performances are just as good as his studio recordings
I LOVE JOHN MAYER his album room for squares was amazing :)
nathan figy great taste, my friend! haha. I also loved Continuum, he had Steve Jordan play on that record, one of the greatest drummers in the world in my opinion.
You would *love* Ray LaMontagne, he is like by far the most perfect musician. And when I say perfect I mean PERFECT
@@nathanfigy1661 Check out Elliott Smith. He's similar and probably the greatest acoustic player in terms of chord progressions. A solid 50% of his songs are true challenges even for experienced guitar players. Ryan Adams is kind of similar too in his guitar work just not as impressive as Dallas or Elliott. Though his songwriting holds up. Damien Rice as well. Cannonball by Damien Rice is a song that reminds me a lot of this one. That's a gem of acoustic guitar work too.
THIS song stopped me from putting a 5.56 round through my brain on my first tour. Thank you Dallas
Nate Cherry SAW or M-16?
I dont know you, but I'm happy you are better
Oh god. Hope you are ok
Could also be a variant of these. Here in Canada we use C7's (M-16) and C9's (SAW)
I appreciate you and I don't even know you.
My heart breaks safely to this song
There will never be a singer with more conviction
Even in 2021, I return to this song on a monthly basis. Just what I need...year after year
Amazing songwriter, singer, guitar player...I am so excited to see him live...just wow.
The awnser is fear.
True
How about courage?
+Johnny Heart True as well. Any man can stand adversity
Badass Bear Maybe, this is a different kind of man xD.
I thought it was cake.
*cries from beauty*
Such a passive song. Nothing sends shivers down my spine like this song.
Yazmin Valdez that and the wind blowing
Right now... Man. This really came into my mind and I am glad.
this song never gets old.. love you dallas.. miss the old days
dallas you spoke to my heart you brought me to tears
How could u not love and remember this gem
Still a beautiful song in 2018, the lyrics touch my soul

@@Tezah89 2023
@@burnyizland he’s on tour right now… I love him 🧡
@@Tezah89 0_0 Thank you for the tip! I was too poor the last time he came through.
cant find a single piece from this band that i dislike even a little. bless them. ♡
Dallas Green.. It's only one guy
Corrected
if anyone has saw him do this live and had him get the crowd to sing 'what makes a man' and him say 'i think i know', you have experienced one of the most beautiful feelings in the world.
What makes a man write such a good song!? Lovely!
This reminds me sooo much of Chad Vangaalen. Not in a ripping off type of way. But in a genuine/ mysterious neo folk artist type of way. This is brilliant song writing. I love everything about City & Colour, their songs really hit the pinnacle of emotions. This slays anything popular claiming they're part of the same genre. Bon Iver...Eat your heart out!
Still better than the most of the music in the Charts today.. totally underrated
What song! Smooth voice and sound. Some songs never sound old.
Dallas = City
Green = Colour
Mind = Blown
Still loving this in 2017.
This song hits different on a lonely highway
Still loving this song into 2023!❤ Dallas Green
2024 brother. one day
These lyrics are absolutely amazing. The meaning...
I'm a singer and whenever I have a song that's really emotional I'll rehearse it to death until it no longer affects me. I've been trying regularly with this one since it came out and I'm no closer than I ever was. I can't even get through it I get so choked up.
do people still like City and Colour or am i the only one??
Bailey Giles I do.
Everyone
Anyone with a heart
famguyfan1059 A sensible heart
people will always like city and colour
Completely new to Colour and City. My boyfriend listens to this and I listen to Progressive House. Now I know why he is so mellow and pensive. This truly brings me peace, wanting to stop and think about the good and bad. I love it.
God damn, I need to stop listening to this stuff at one in the morning. This stuff gets to me.
LightAndDarkMdness02 me personally, I do the most thinking and personal reflection at those hours listening to this stuff - really makes ya think
I can feel the wind blowin'
It's sending shivers down my spine
I can feel the wind blowin'
It shakes the trees and the power lines
What makes a man spend his whole life in disguise?
I think I know
I think I might know
Honestly my favorite song so under rated
So much soul in this tune!
never loved an artist like i love you
This is the type of music that deserves REAL fire at a concert. Not phone screens or artificial lights.
saw him perform this last night. absolutely breathtaking.
Currently crying in the bathtub.
I'm so happy I found them on soundcloud:)))
2020 Needs this more than ever.

Very thought provoking music. Pretty amazing.
0 dislikes. Tell you anything?
This man is incredible.
This song keeps me from hurting myself, I just found this song months ago on my parents old usb drive, I always wondered which siblings or parents downloaded this song because it speaks for me, but I’m never gonna find that out because we all keep to ourselves now, but if anything it brings me at peace (in a good way) if I had a message for my old self, I wish you could of done better and that is taking care of yourself…
beautiful!!
oh wow!!!absolutely amazing!!
Thank you Nate
Still amazing in 2020
great song !
I can relate to these lyrics perfectly, very powerful lyrics for me i know the meaning of these lyrics in my own way. Thanks Dallas your an amazing musician.
It hurts me to tears hearing this song, but I still come back. He might know, but I don't have a clue yet.
I think that's exactly the point. He didn't tell. In my opinion, it relates to be courageous despite the fears and the problems in life. A true man is active and don't run from things.
oh wow,absolutely amazing!!
so calm...
Just heard this first time on Pandora last week. Real fine all around.
Ohhh I thought it was "what makes a man BREAK when he's about to die"
Either way it's still super deep and this song is still a masterpiece

Amazing song, fits the book perfectly
sometimes it's the little things that matter the most.
hell yeah. Greetings from Florida!
love this song.
What's the story behind this song? Like what's the meaning behind the words? It is... Beautifully crafted, vocals, lyricals, instrumentals, EVERYTHING!! I love it so much and i wanna know what the meaning behind the lyrics are
Fear.
Every man has a fear he will never admit or it shows his neck to the world.
The fear that he didnt do enough, be enough, work enough, take time enough, love enough, fight enough, etc.
We all want to make our father or mentors proud, do right by our family, and live well, facing everything on our feet, holding fast against the squalls and strife of life.
We live in fear that we will wake up one day down the road, unable to physically do what we did 60 or 70 years prior.
We want to be able to face the man in tbe mirror and know he lived hard and well.
One of my favourites
11 years later .. time Flys huh?
