The power of this song is like no other. I’ve listened 1000 times already and I still get punched right in the gut and my heart feels again. I dabble with the original and this version time to time again when I need the reminder life isn’t always full of happiness, it wouldn’t work out that way and today I’m ok sitting in the dark time to time.
Answer? It's in 3 parts... 1) AOF haters who blamed him 2) Philistines 3) Sheer tone deaf losers, who will discuss Carbi B in any breath they take All 3? Fuck'em We have Dallas and AOF. Imagine not having that.
"Ladies and Gentleman... Mr Dallas Green!" - I think this is on the live version In Brixton Academy from 2007, it's an album version recording of the live performance. I'm not 100% sure if it's that one or another one from the same time period, but it's worth a listen because it's so well performed and when the post-hxc vocalist says that line, it's so so so good.
Nora May Margaret McSorley Ha! Awesome that your comment was only a few days ago. This song crossed my mind today, and I decided to look it up. Still so powerful. Just in case you didn’t know, this is a song from his band Alexisonfire. Much different than his City and Colour stuff.
What an odd response. Despite all the beauty in this song, vocals, playing, lyrics, and everything else, you pick out something you deem an error. Gotta love it.
When I heard this song , the instrumental and hook completely captured me and as hard as kanye tried to get me not to like it , I love it . Same with "Wolves" the hook is so eerie/beautiful but lyrically horrible
Not really. Dallas was one of the guitarists and did the clean vocals for Alexisonfire. City and Colour is a side project that Dallas eventually decided to focus his efforts on full time.
Still listening in 2023 and I can say it brings me back to a much simpler and happier time in life. I will forever love Dallas Green
Came here to say this...❤❤
Right here with you! Man is extremely talented!
I hear ya
Fucking Amen
We’re here x
What a masterpiece. Still here in 2024!
Same
Always come back to this as an example of how one person can own a moment.
Brilliant.
2021 and I'm still emotionally attached to this live performance
try 2022. still hits
…And beyond. So good!
2023
It's one of the greatest.
2045 and it still hits the same. Just a little harder.
His fucking piano playing is hauntingly good, and the voice change from the original. This piece is golden and we're lucky to have it.
It’s easily in my top 5 songs for life.
he's even singing on a higher key than the original, amazing version

100% this is the song I want played at my funeral.
Helvegen - kalandra get the translation. She has a voice that cuts like glass
How can 7 people dislike this 😭 This song reaches parts that can’t be reached by anything else! The most amazing version of an amazing song 🥰

All 3?

We have Dallas and AOF. Imagine not having that.
There's no way it's better than the original...but it's still amazing in it's own way.
No more dislikes. Problem solved.
@@MrXshot imo this hits way more than the original, this shit damn near brings me to tears its so beautifully perfect
Always makes me want to cry
My go to heartbreak song for the last ten years. Thank you Dallas ❤️
16 for me
I saw this song in Edmonton in 2005 at the U of A. I didn't cry, there were cut onions there...
I tear up by the end every time
It's June of 2024 and I've heard this a million + 1 times....and I'm still crying @@charliekowalski7163
It’s 2022 and it pulled to my soul more than ever.
Still makes me emotional all these years later
My god is he just the most beautiful human. I just melt when he opens his mouth.
still one of my favorite songs of all time (specifically this version)
Got to see City and Colour at the Royal Albert in London, back in 2011 and this was the first encore song. So amazing, in the most incredible venue.
This is my Son's Song.
He's been dead for 8 years.
Keep going.
If I can, so can you.
2024 and i adore this song
2024, I can’t leave …
My heart can't handle this.. his voice 😍
This.. Day old hate and Sam Malone touch my soul
What a great day to spend indoors.
11 years online and not a single dislike, unheard of really.
I think 2 people read your comment and did it.
4 now. You ruined everything.
"Some men, just want to watch the world burn"
I think its more the fact that the lyrics "what a great day to spend indoors" offends people post covid.
@@jasonmighty3328 oh for the love of god I hope this is sarcasm! 😂😂
Such a fantastic version of the song! Beautiful performance.
I’ll never not cry to this
And whyyyyy? are my lungs aching when I breathheee

Dallas green at his best Thanks for this song im listening at 2024
2022 and I’m still emotionally attached to this song
This was the first time I realised Dallas had a special voice
Ever stumble past something from well over a decade in your past and openly weep because it's still so relevant? I guess it's time to make that move
wow......
Did they take down the other video?
It is criminal how few views this has after being up for 15 years.
The best version.. where can you download this version or play it? Please don’t delete this TH-cam! What show was this? 16 year old me loving life 😭
It's on Spotify, search in his live albums, it's somewhere around there.

Dallas should sing with the traj in a sing a long
2022
i didnt know he played the piano
He was also in Alexisonfire
He did in Rough Hands
anyone else add the winey guitar riff?
I played along with it the entire time lmfao that hint of b note is just so beautiful in the middle of the progression
3:28 Ops
Thats actually part of the original song. They kept it in the song to keep it more original and natural.
Could you explain why “ops”?
@@wesleym7176 Calm. He just missed 1 key on the keyboard, I just thought his reaction was funny, but I think he's one of the best of a generation.

My favorite song by Alexisonfire. Still amazing, but missing the raw sound of the original.
weird amount of downvotes...
You labelled this wrong....
